Re: FFFC

  • @lastmango You inspired me. I had a glass of Corona with my enchiladas for dinner. It felt so weird drinking something after 3+ months of nothing at all, but man was it good, and no guilt felt at all.

  • @canavara @LastMango I've talked about Emily Oster and Expecting Better on here a few times, but it was her discussions and research about alcohol recommendations and OB guidelines that made me comfortable with the occasional glass of wine. This article she wrote for the WSJ summarizes some of her findings, and you might find it interesting :)

The summary of her findings: "Both the data and the science suggest that the speed of drinking, and whether you are eating at the same time, matters. It isn't that complicated: Drink like a European adult, not like a fraternity brother."

  • @poetryandoceans I saw that a couple of years ago and completely forgot it existed! Thanks for sharing it. I've been holding back from drinking anything until I was past first trimester (largely because of morning sickness, nothing says "don't drink" more than already vomiting twice a day). We saw so many pregnant women drinking when we were in Denmark for 5 weeks. No one there even bats an eye.

I still feel scared thinking about ordering a glass of wine in a restaurant a few weeks from now when it will be way more obvious that I'm pregnant for fear of American-style shaming, but I dunno... imagining it going something like this:

  • I know it's Saturday, but I have zero energy and I'm eating Chinese leftovers and binge watching Criminal Minds.

I did get some towels washed and put away, so that counts for something, right?

  • @LoneStar21416, I totally forgot about the nose bleeds, I got several while pregnant with my son.  about three minutes after I read your post, I sneezed and got a nose bleed.

Second Tri energy is a lie, I tell you! Though, I don't even know if at 13 weeks I'm officially in the second trimester yet....?

    @jlea05 This!!
I'm feeling even more exhausted than before! It's like all the first-tri symptoms are kicking into overdrive right now!

I was falling asleep at a 2PM movie yesterday and then proceeded to throwup in our grocery store parking lot.... When is this going to be over??

  • Second trimester starts (in my opinion) when the bullshit of the first trimester ends. For my first pregnancy, it was 16 weeks. I felt great until about 35 weeks.

@ThePax89 ^^ I want to love your above comment 18,000 times. At least. 16.3 right now and keeping fingers crossed the bullshit ends soon.
  • @LoneStar21416 I'm having the same problems when I eat full meals - bloating, gassiness, heartburn.  To try to avoid it I'm eating 4 mini meals (around 730, 1030, 100, 630) and a snack at 4ish.

  • @colleenkevin I'm glad I'm not the only one! Last night I ate dinner in 3 stages hoping that would help. I ate some chicken slowly. Then I took a "break" and ate a medium baked sweet potato. Took another "break" and ate some streamed veggies. Immediately after my entire stomach (upper and lower) was so distended, hard, and uncomfortable. It got better within in a hour or so this time, but it's just so uncomfortable. I don't know if it's a particular food that is triggering me (doesn't seem like it though), my own anatomy that is making this more difficult, or just second trimester??? I just never thought it would be this uncomfortable this early in the second trimester.
  • @canavara yes! With my first that was all I heard. Wait until you get to 12 weeks, everything goes away and you get so much better. Lies! I was 16 weeks with my first before I felt better. 13 weeks this time around and still have nausea and puking so I'm fully expecting it to last to 16 weeks again. Once I did feel better again, I was really able to fully enjoy being pregnant, so I'm looking forward to that again!

  • @canavara  I wish I could say no! My DH is very "traditional" ehem... always has been and I've always wanted more "spice" between the sheets. I get pregnant and BAM he is a totally different person! Like, where did THIS come from?? I'm not usually feeling up to it but I can't help but think 'FINALLY!' and go along for the ride anyways. LOL sorry if this is TMI.

HJ.Morgan  Ugh what I would give for a pizza from the freezer, with little squares of unidentified meat on top. I'm actually thinking about the pizza they served at my middle school's cafeteria for lunch. It was probably the cheapest, most disgusting pizza in the world, but what I would give to eat it right now!!!

  • @LoneStar21416 I might have to start eating in stages too. I ate as much as I felt comfortable eating at dinner last night and then stopped when I thought I was full, but at 3am I woke up SO HUNGRY, so I obviously didn't eat enough before bed.

I don't remember this happening so early with my last pregnancy.  I remember this during 3rd trimester when the baby was taking up a lot of space my organs were very compressed.  I don't know why it's already happening for me at 16 weeks!
