Re: Symptoms Thread - July

  • They're definitely not stretch marks @mrsvoorhees @thscary I already had some of those and they're more red. These are brown. Almost looks dirty. As gross as that sounds. And they're not lines underneath. It's a blotch. Since its identical on both I assume it must be a bra issue. But they're not uncomfortable or anything. Maybe I need a band extender. My ribs have expanded at least 2" during pregnancy. I just don't get it. I don't know if I should call my OB and get a sooner appointment than what I have (late this month) or if it's nothing to stress over. in the meantime I will google images just to see...even though that's not the best idea. Ha. Just to see if what I see is similar.

  • @Thscary TMI, but I have been having the opposite of constipation pretty much all the way through. Had the same with DS1, and it succkkkkks. But I didn't poop during the delivery! I don't think there was much left in there at that point, lol... hoping for the same outcome this time around! There better be at least one positive side to this funky symptom.

Holy headache from hell! I started out super tired yesterday and slowly got nauseous throughout the day with an accompanying headache. So I left work early and, by the time I laid down at home, the acid reflux had kicked in hardcore. The headache is one of those where sitting up from lying down is excruciating. Tylenol isn't helping in the slightest. I decided to miss the kids' baseball & basketball games this morning and feel horrible about it (even though they and DH have been so understanding!). I'm going to give it the day and then call the doctor if need be. Really hoping it doesn't come to that though!
You could try a Tylenol, Benadryl and caffeine combo
  • @Thscary Yes, I get diarrhea a few times a week. Usually in the morning. I chalk it up to hormones and would rather have it than constipation! Lol

I'm feeling so down in the dumps today. I don't know what my problem is. My shower is next weekend and I'm kind of bummed that a lot of people can't make it so that might be it. It will only be my parents, DHs mom and sister and 3 of my friends. My work team is planning to do a mini shower at a team meeting, even though I invited them to the shower next weekend. But I just feel silly having SIL plan all this when only 3 people are coming. I'm sure it's hormones but it's really bumming me out.

  • Is anyone else having sharp cervical pains? At my 29 week scan the baby's head was pushed up against my cervix and I am pretty sure it still is. Sometimes it is just the take your breath away weird cervical feeling, but sometimes it hurts like a MF! It's hard not to yell out when it happens, which is awkward. Is it just the baby hitting a nerve down there or is it dilation? It's making me sort of nervous in combination with braxton hicks contractions, bleh. I have a doc appointment on Thurs, I will ask then.

@jas1982 I just had that happen today. We were in Home Depot and I was like "Yaaaa I need to go to the bathroom" cause I felt like i needed to rub the area or something. It was like a sharp stinging pain that went into my labia.. Hard to explain

It's just baby hitting things just right. I had it pretty much all pregnancy with my last as she would grind on my pelvis. This time around it started a few weeks ago. The other day I almost started swearing in the store the other day and I seldom swear.
  • @RG1 @asht well, at least I am in good company. I think I have one more trial before I can really start avoiding out of office work completely, hopefully I can go without swearing at the judge. Yeesh.
  • Thscary, I had diarrhea in the first trimester quite often.  I soon realized that it was my mild lactose intolerance becoming more severe.  I've read that many allergies and intolerances can become more pronounced during pregnancy.  Now, I take a lactase pill whenever I eat any dairy and I have had no issues!

  • Waking up at 3:30am to pee....every night.
    Bloody boogers.
Greasy scalp (like during first trimester).
Lower back pain (had to order a support belt on Amazon).

  • @frogdog06 let us know if the support belt helps, I have been thinking of getting one. I have been having semi bloody dry nose as well, I guess it's better than a gushing bloody nose?
  • I'm curious about the support belt as well @frogdog06 I've had horrible / increasing back pain the past few weeks. I'm also considering the chiropractor and massage therapy for relief.
  • @Thscary - as a previous poster said, I've had diarrhea with my last pregnancy, and recently with this one - typically when I wake up in the morning.  Last time it went away mostly when I cut out a lot of dairy and started drinking almond milk, etc.  When not pregnant I sometimes have an issue with dairy, but it becomes much worse with pregnancy.  In truth, it has never really bothered me as I'd prefer it over constipation

@frogdog06 Im also interested to know if the belt helps. I went to a physiotherapist on Friday and she tried to sell me one, but it was $50 and I didn't trust that it would actually help and she wasn't just trying to make extra money.

  • @jas1982 @rock1cherry @RG1 I found one on Amazon for $14. It was recommended by a friend. It arrived yesterday and I totally forgot to put it on this morning when I went to work. :|

The lower back pain for me isn't bad enough to justify $50 for two months. I'd rather buy things for LO. :D
  • The butt sweat.. what the heck? I had it last time too.. or maybe I always have it but wear jeans 99% of the time when not pregnant and switch to a lot more khaki-material shorts and capris when pregnant.  Just went to the bathroom and sure enough, I had a 1/2 inch wide, 2 inch long darker spot in the middle of my butt... How pleasant.

Mine is my feet!!! I can't keep my damn feet in my shoes, I can barely walk because they are sliding around in there.

Seems like my AC has decided to malfunction and is blowing warm air into my house.  Set at 76, but I'm now at 82 and climbing.  Definitely not helping the pregnancy swelling or hot flashes!

ETA: whoops, thought this was the random thread. Too many open tabs!

  • @annas930 I hear you on the butt sweat!  I keep sweating to the point where the skin over my tailbone (between my cheeks) cracks open.  It's so raw and painful, especially when I sit on hard chairs. :anguished:

I keep thinking I should get some Gold Bond powder or something to try to fix the situation.  It's driving me crazy.

  • It hit me all at once starting this weekend. I feel huge and sluggish. I went from having regular energy and feeling cute and normal, hardly noticing my bump at all except when I walked past a mirror, to feeling heavy and cumbersome within a 24 hour period. Standing up and walking around for too long makes me tired and I get winded easily. Yuck!

I knew that this "big and irritable" stage was coming, but I guess I wasn't expecting it to happen until the last month of pregnancy, not when I still have 2 months to go! The idea of getting even larger is almost exhausting to think about. The leg cramps have started, but they're not too bad. Not comfy by any means, but they work themselves out pretty quickly. Last night was my first major major cramp. I'm thinking it was a BH contraction gone wrong, as up until now they've all been painless. It woke me up out of sleep and I just lay there with my eyes closed, waiting for it to be over. Got up and drank some water and haven't had another one today.

  • I can attest to the power of the support belt! My friend let me have her mini cradle and it has been a life saver when I walk my dog. I haven't worn it to work as I have a desk job and sit a lot, but I notice a huge difference and feel more uncomfortable when I am not wearing it. The only thing I will warn you of is that the baby kicks me more when I wear it. I don't know if he is a fan of the pressure around my abdomen but you get used to it. :)

  • Has anyone had costochondritis? About a month ago, I started having stabbing pain in my ribs. It's gotten so bad that I wakes me up at night and I has caused me to cry on more than few occasions. It hurts to breathe, move, pretty much do anything. My doctor made me come in because she thought I had fractured a rib. Turns out it's not a fracture. It's costochondritis, which is an inflammation of the cartilage between the ribs. She said it's not unusual in pregnancy because everything is getting moved around. The treatments are prescription pain meds and anti-inflammatories, neither of which I can have. I was told that it will likely get more painful up until the baby is born, so I just need to cope. Basically, it sucks!
  • I haven't posted much in the symptoms thread but I've heard misery loves company. Are there any mom's with a previous back injury that are really starting to be in a lot of pain? Last October I somehow pinched a nerve and had a bulging disc in my lower back, my spine was completely S shaped on the XRAYS and I couldn't walk or stand by myself for an entire week before the chiropractor made any progress on me. I was just starting to feel somewhat good again when I found out I was pregnant and the OB put a stop to my chiropractic care. I've managed for most of the pregnancy but I'm 33 weeks now and the back pain combined with the hip & pelvic pain is totally crushing me. Standing is painful, sitting is painful, walking is almost unbearable. I don't know how I'm going to make it these last few weeks and I'm horribly depressed about it on top of hurting constantly.
  • @veramali could you see about going back to the chiropractor? I don't have an existing injury but I'm experiencing a lot of lower back and hip pain. I also get numbness in my right leg when sitting or standing in a certain way. The newest is like shooting pain down the left side. So I've started seeing a chiropractor this week. The doctor approved it and I made sure to get a referral to someone who is good with pregnant women. I know others who were pregnant who swore by it. I haven't gone enough to notice a huge difference yet (twice) but I'm really hoping it helps!
  • @rock1cherry I have begged my OB to give me a referral so I can go back to the chiropractor but she refuses. She's completely against chiropractors for some reason and doesn't allow any of her patients to go while pregnant. I've even tried getting my GP to refer me so insurance will pay for me to go but he won't do anything unless my OBGYN approves even though he says a chiropractor is what I need. I'm stuck in an endless loop of stupidity with these doctors. My OB is willing to prescribe me all sorts of pain killers and muscle relaxers that I'm uncomfortable taking while pregnant but won't let me go get an adjustment. I really dislike her.
  • Sorry to hear that @veramali it's not comforting when your OB won't listen to you or help you. To be honest, I'm not the hugest fan of the chiropractor. It kind of freaks me out. Ha. But, I'm willing to try it. For me, my insurance doesn't cover it - or so they said when I called - but I can use HSA money towards it and I don't need a referral direct from her. She said I could talk to my GP who used to be a chiropractor. He doesn't practice anymore and does only small alignments in his office so he referred me to the one I'm using.

I'm with you on the medications...too bad your GP won't contact your OB to make the recommendation. What a pain. (Literally) maybe try doing some exercises and stretching to see if that helps? You could also try a heating pad maybe.

So sorry - hope your pain gets better soon!!
  • @rock1cherry if you are having pain and able to go I swear by a good chiropractor. Like I mentioned above when I first injured my back I wasn't even able to stand by myself until I got into a chiropractor. No amount of resting, heating pads, ice packs, or medications helped me. I'd have married my chiropractor after my first appointment if my husband wouldn't have objected lol.
I am resting and doing everything I can but I don't see my pain getting any better until this baby is out of me and I can get worked on again. Thank you though.
  • @veramali Oh man! That's terrible. I have a shoulder injury that was similar. I feel your pain! Took me five years to get the help I needed for that. But I'm able to manage it for the most part now.

Are you able to just call and go see one without a referral? I just called this one up based off of my GPs recommendation. Didn't need a formal referral. I don't know how much it costs, but I'm paying with my HSA and at this point if it helps I'm willing to pay!
  • @rock1cherry I could go in without a referral but would have to pay out of pocket. We've had string of bad luck this summer with both cars breaking down, more than once, and a few other things so money is just too tight right now to pay anything out of pocket. I guess if I get to the point that I literally can't stand up by myself again I'll be selling something to get myself there since my OB is an idiot.

It feels like every little bony bit my boys have (elbows, knees, shoulders, heads...) is stabbing into my uterus today.  I am so sore.

They must be running out of room in there.  I feel like I've got 10 pounds of (sharp, lumpy) sugar in a 5 pound bag over here. :astonished:

And I'm only 33 weeks today.  Granted, that's 33 weeks with two babies (who weighed a combined 8 pounds at their last growth scan 10 days ago), but still...

Guys, the gas has returned. I find when I walk my dog, it helps release a lot of the gas. Well last night while walking, I let one rip, and it was so loud I could hear through my headphones with a podcast on and it lasted about 3 seconds. No one heard but I definitely need to be careful in public! These are not silent..
