DS got lost at the zoo yesterday for 20 minutes. Had the entire security team looking for him. When they finally found him, they said he was wandering around the bushes near the tiger exhibit. They said he got real lucky.
OMG, I'm so sorry you went through that. I can't imagine how panicked you were, that must have been the longest 20 mins of your life. So glad he was found safe and sound.
The weird thing was that I wasn't particularly scared in so much as I was furious that I was "that mom". Then when the security officer told me he was by the tigers I made a (very stupid) comment alluding to the gorilla incident and he looked me dead in the eye and said that he is the one who'd have to make the decision in that case. Oops  :s

    @nlane0723 I say enjoy it!

DH is going to England in August to visit his family. For the longest time, he was considering taking DS. I was about 90% a nervous wreck and anxious about that, and 10% thinking, "hmmm...9 days of just work and adult dinners and Netflix and sleep?"

But, we decided 9 days is too long for him to be away from Mommy. For BOTH of us. But, I could totally go for a weekend away. Maybe this should be my FFFC.

  • @AllyTheKid, Feast?  That sounds like cannibalism and stuff.... gonna look it up!  I also love Rob Zombie horror films... so good, so disturbing!  Also the foreign horrors are some of the most terrifying ever!  There was one film I saw that was Hungarian I think, and it was about these little kids who liked to drag people into their underground tunnels.
  • @annabenanna Feast is about monsters, and is just ridiculous. I love Rob Zombie films, but haaaated Lords of Salem =/ so disappointing. Spain has the most twisted movies, even from back in the 50s and 60s they're insane...
  • @allythekid, agreed, lords of salem wasn't impressive at all!  I've only seen recent Spanish films: the orphanage, devil's backbone, rec.... but i haven't seen older ones.  I'm scurrrrred to look them up!  I love how every country has it's own version of efffed up horror movies.... the Japanese and Korean ones are also so effed up.
  • @mrszoess I stalk my registries too. I did the same thing when I got married. Whoops

I always said I wouldn't look at my registry before receiving gifts.... I was wrong. I look here and there but don't stalk :)
  • I stalk mine but I'm not having a baby shower, so I just see if I will get randomly lucky. I'd give zero if I were having one, too!
  • @annabenanna Regardless of that flop of a movie, House of 1000 Corpses will forever hold a place in my heart. I love finding foreign versions of other horrors, it's so fun to compare! Japan definitely has some jacked up movies... shout out to France for creativity too. Oh hey, have you seen Eli Roth's Green Inferno yet???
  • @AllyTheKid, no i have not!  Is it good?  and yes, finding foreign versions are awesome!  for example:  "let the right one in" is way better than "let me in", amiright?  i'm off to google Green Inferno now.

Do you or @bnsmith85 have any suggestions for a horror film about being in a foreign country in the boonies, with no internet, etc? lol.  we are driving up to Mexico tonight and staying the weekend.  The inn we are staying at has no internet.  dun dun dunnnnnn.  hoping to download a good horror to watch tonight!
  • @annabenanna If you're referring to the same "Teeth" I am, I wouldn't tell anyone to watch it with their SO because they won't be coming near you anytime soon  :D@bnsmith85
I can't believe I made it through this movie. It was too strangely funny not to I guess.

  • @nlane0723 Good for you for not feeling guilty!  You totally shouldn't.  I fantasize about a whole weekend without a toddler.  Oh, the things I could accomplish.
  • @annabenanna Oh, it's good... disturbing, but good.
I haven't actually watched Let the Right One In, I've passed over it so many times even though I have been planning to watch it for forever.
  • I don't have a registry. I don't even think I'm going to have a shower/sprinkle (nobody has offered and I'm absolutely not hosting my own).  I'm moderately sad but meh, it is what it is. I think people are still pissed that we're not finding out the sex.

lol @ibabyloveb87 and @kelliot09, it is such a funny movie!  the opening scene was so disturbing though!
  • @annabenanna... foreign country, any of the Hostel movies fit that. There was one DH and I watched not too long ago where these people went to camp in this deserted area and were basically terrorized. I'll see if I can find that one. And I'll try to think of one that has a mix of the two :) I'm sure we've watched one before.

How about that new one that's coming out called Lights Out?! A friend and I went to see The Shallows this week and they played the trailer for Lights Out. I almost screamed... in the theater. lol
  • I need to look up LIghts out @bnsmith85!  I haven't seen the trailer!  Was The Shallows good?
  • @annabenanna @bnsmith85 Did you guys see the picture of the new Pennywise the Clown for the remake of IT?
  • @annabenanna... I've seen the trailer for Lights Out on TV and it wasn't nearly as terrifying as the longer one I saw in theaters. So be sure to watch the longer version of the trailer. ... oh, and I also can't wait for the newest Purge to come out :# DH wants to see it too so I'm sure we'll make a date night of it. That, or forget about it and end up seeing it when it's released on Netflix lol
I thought The Shallows was pretty good. I have an irrational fear of sharks though, so it played right into it. lol

    @AllyTheKid.. I haven't! I'll look it up :)
  • I'm living it up on eating this weekend!  Food Truck Friday tonight and who knows what else is in store.  DH teased me for getting a frosty on my way home yesterday and said I'd fail my diabetes test if I keep it up (in his defense I told him not to feed me carbs this week because I didn't want my weight to spike before dr appointment).    I have my glucose test next Tuesday, so I've decided to enjoy  all the foods I can  in case I'm stuck low carb for the next 12 weeks.
  • @MKJeffrey2002... which FTF are you going to? The one in CLT? We go to the one in Matthews all the time. I don't think it's as big of a deal as the one in Clt but works for us since it's so close :)
  • We're going to the one in old town Rock Hill.  I've never been to the Rock Hill one so hopefully it's good.  The one in CLT in south end is nice!  I went a bunch with co-workers last summer.
  • @MKJeffrey2002  Let me know how the Rock Hill one is! I always want to go to the one in clt but I honestly hate dealing with uptown parking and such now.

@books&icecream Me too! I can't even watch scary movie commercials. My roommate in college dragged me to The Grudge and it took me years to get over it.

  • @lilbabybrown My mom buried ours in the sand at the beach and told us the seagulls took them. That was the end of the pacifier in our house.

  • @bnsmith85 looks like the storms hit at the perfect time to ruin my food truck Friday plans
  • @lilbabybrown I'm right there with you.  My toddler still uses his pacifier at nap and bedtime.  I really want to get rid of it before the new baby arrives so he won't associate baby with losing his pacifier, but I think it's going to require a few sleepless nights and I do not want to deal with that right now.
  • Ugh. My DD (2.5) still has a paci and I'm scared for my life to take it away. It shuts her up when we are in public (she's one of those obnoxious, loud, screaming, runaway toddlers) and she has never, and I mean never, fallen asleep without one.
We also attempted to potty train a couple times and gave up. But my goals before this little guy gets here is no paci and potty trained.

Also, @Piperella I still gag from time to time when changing DD's diaper. Sometimes I'm like "WTF did I feed you?! Never ever again."

Yes!!! I'm so nervous about it, they better not screw this up.

On Pacifiers- DD had one until she was THREE. We finally just had to break her "cold turkey". It wasn't pleasant, but the worst only lasted a week:open_mouth:

  • I have another one since it's relevant to me right now. I hate baseball. Actually, I hate most sports. I like watching the World Cup (my brothers were soccer players so I grew up watching soccer), the Olympics and the Super Bowl. But for everything else, I'm bored out of my mind.

My 8 year old nephew sleeps over on Fridays (so my sister can work-waitress) and he is making me watch the Yankees/Red Sox game. It's been on for two hours and it's only going into the 7th... Ugh!
  • @maf9866 I like sports but baseball is the worsttttttttt! It's so long and boring!
