  • I say, their loss! I like individual threads and totally get why some keep off the randoms, but ahhhhh so much fun lol. I use to hate the last to post threads on my last BMB but I know I missed out on some great bonding by not participating, but totally on me! You totally get the feel of people's personalities and sense of humor etc by these threads! <3

@BAJDesigns Girl, I'm about to sew me a million maxi skirts and dresses. And I'm going to try to sew some leggings when it gets colder.

I don't see why we can't have both individual threads and big megathreads.  I am definitely here for the bonding.  I have google for quick questions.  My Dec '11 BMB is still going strong on FB 5+ years later and it is awesome.  I still post there every day along with another 100 or so women, and I have met a handful of them (and their kids) IRL and consider them friends.  I hope to have the same experience with this board.  Having women going through the same things as you as far as pregnancy and raising babies is not to be underrated!  I don't know how people did this pre-internet.

Also, I too am in the anti-pants camp.  I dug out an old maxi dress today and it is heaven.

  • @TinaBelcher I am so sorry!!! I feel like men especially are super apt to stick their feet in their mouth and say things that get them into trouble in situations like this.

5 days after my second baby was born, I went to chick fil for lunch with my mom, DS1 and newborn. A man came up to me and asked me when I was going to have my baby. I said oh I just had him, here he is. He asked how old he was and I said 5 days and then he straight-faced stared at me and said: well I guess that's why you haven't lost the baby weight yet. *seriously cue all the waterworks here*

KILL HIM DEAD!! Omg I'd have raged. I did just inform my boss that I'd have to leave early when the shop closes so I could go hit Jim with my car ::angelic face::
  • I don't know where else to put this. A friend from a past forum just passed away from cancer. I was not super close with her, but am close to another friend that was her BFF in real life. Super super hard to watch a friend go through loss and grief and just not knowing what to say and to not be local when I just want to hug her!

The infuriating part of this, is some random other friend of this lady just posted on FB that she passed. BEFORE her husband even shared? WTF is wrong with people?! There are probably still FAMILY that haven't heard. How how how does that even cross someone's mine as being in the realm of something OK to do? Baffled. And infuriated for the family. Unbelievable.

  • @cjs260 Oh I know, it's such a minor gripe in the big scheme of things, but it's just a bunch of artificial BS that drives me nuts; it's not like the shipments have to cross a wild ocean or dodge pirates or some shit. I just want my stretchy panel pants, guys, is that too much to ask???
  • Aw that's so sad @mommywesley, one of my really good friends just lost someone from her first BMB to cancer too, it's heartbreaking.

I have no words for people who post before family (or the people themselves in other situations) without permission. Under no circumstances can I understand how they think it's ok?? I just don't get it. I can't even figure where to start.
  • cjs260cjs260 member
@mommywesley I'm so very sorry that that has happened. The whole FB thing is absolutely inappropriate, and you are a better person than I am for not saying anything to him.

  • @jessleonard23 yes, this is me everyday. I feel like I've lost my core completely, but only have the smallest of bumps to show for it. I don't know if this is typical, or if it's bc my workout routine changed pretty drastically after I got pregnant. I was going to Bar Method classes 4-5 times a week pre-pregnancy. For a variety of reasons, I had to stop and have only just begun doing a barre pregnancy DVD on my own along with walking as my exercise. I do feel like it looks like I have a spare tire and not a true bump though!

    @mommywesley that's really unforgivable!!!

  • @poetryandoceans don't even feel bad for a second! This is the random stuff thread and it goes super fast I just needed to let my frustration out somewhere!

Thank you all, I knew you would get it and how absolutely ridiculous it was! The post was removed, but the damage done. She's gotten a few "sorry for your loss" on her page now even though the friend deleted her post (wither because husband yelled/requested, or some other friend told her how out of line she was). I sure hope someone reamed her. I don't know her or I would have!

  • So I'm gathering from that other thread that a bunch of ppl don't read this because they just want answers and don't care to build relationships here.... Wanna turn our beds into bunk beds?

     :D   ;)
Hehehe! Guess where we got the name Brennan? :D
  • So I have decided to quit pants of all varieties for the duration of this pregnancy. This lady just bought 5 elastic waist maxi skirts.
"Decided to quit pants" is now my favorite sentence :)
yesterday I just unbuttoned my pants at work...couldnt deal with it anymore. I tried a Bella Band but wasn't a fan, maybe I'm doing it wrong? It kept bunching up when I sat down...
  • One of my employees pretty much just called me fat. ::SOB::

(Ok not really, but he said "dang girl how far along are you??" And I stabbed him in the face with my eyes. And reminded him 1) there's two of them fuck you very much and 2) this falls under the category "never comment on my appearance ever" which we just discussed at length a few months ago. So go die now.) (j/k not that last sentence)
Why whyyyy whyyy do people go filter-less around pregnant women??? Do we exude some anti-inhibition pheromone? Is it one of our super powers, along with Mega Bloat, Super Naps, and Colossal Hormones?

Yeah I tried those once when I was pregnant with DD and they weren't for me.  I kept feeling like my pants were going to fall down! I much prefer maternity pants, although the typically high waist on those took some getting used to as well.

Had this experience too! I feel legit sorry for everyone who works in an office and have dress codes and have to wear pants. Also, those pants that have the built-in full panels that are peach/fleshtone? They look soooo awful. Why would I want to look like I'm wearing old lady pantyhose on my belly?
  • I had been doing the hair tie trick and a snug tank over top but the they started being too snug around my rib cage. I haven't tried the belly band but it's 100 degree here! Who's got the patience for extra layers?

Those are the jeans I wore last time around with DD! they definitely took some getting used to, but when I was 9 months pregnant, I thought that the full panel was sooooo much more comfortable than the smaller paneled ones because they didn't land in an awkward place on my belly and make me itch. But second trimester the smaller panel was definitely what I preferred because my pants didn't go up to my boobs lol

  • @karaelaine1991 Oh, are we not supposed to like pants going all the way up to our boobs yet? I've been loving the lack of a waistband around my belly. #fullpanel4lyfe
Awesome that you do but I am not there yet! Haha! I will be by December though.

  • @karaelaine1991 @mommywesley Yeah, it's been a mild week in the PNW, almost cool; I doubt I'd be so into the maternity panel if it were (checks Celsius to Fahrenheit conversion) in the 80s...

hahaha not denying that they are hella comfortable! I just can't get over the color of some of them. Probably a sign I need to invest in some black, white, or gray ones instead :)

Woah that's so crazy that a complete stranger said that to you. But the truth is that most people live in an autopilot reality. They have no idea that the words they speak have a repercussion.

I would politely smile and say "I know it wasn't your intention to insult me by implying that I'm fat. You know...I had the baby 5 days ago it will take a little longer to loose the weight I put on over the last nine months."
  • Does anyone remember the "old" FB notification sound? I remember being so sad they changed it to the "pop" and like was so bent out of shape about it and now I CAN'T EVEN REMEMBER WHAT IT WAS. Lol.

  • @poetryandoceans I'm loving the cooler weather in the pnw. Are you in Oregon or Washington?
  • I'm going to try harder to get into this randoms thread.  It's hard being on mobile only to navigate quickly and keep up!

Re: pants. The worst. I'm officially out of my jeans that it took me a year to get into after having my daughter. I need to pack those up and get out my looser pants. I had loaned a bunch of my maternity clothes out and just went through them and realized I didn't get back my three favorite pieces. And the person I leant them to said they didn't have them. Grrr. Not happy.
  • @underthesea BC, actually :) I just say PNW because I know most of the board is American and since I'm practically spitting distance from the Olympic Peninsula, PNW gives a pretty accurate description of my geography :) Y'all wouldn't know what I meant if I said "South Coast"

  • @canavara I think the tan colored ones are so you can wear them under white/light tops without the dark color showing through?  Same idea as a "nude" colored bra? (I don't like this term though because everyone has different "nude" skintones.) Once my belly was quite out there, I found the full-panel pants/skirts to be way more comfortable and they stayed up better, so I have a few with that color panel.  Would look really bizarre on a dark color of pants though.
