WTF Wednesday

Re: WTF Wednesday

  • @MamaBish My cousin can realistically afford one kid. Guess how many she has......seven. They are in a two bedroom apartment, her husband works a job that probably brings in $30k a year, she has a nursing degree but refuses to work because then they will lose all of their state help and insurance.

  • @LadyFleck I asked my doctor about the tdap shot for DH and I and his response was they will give it to us at the hospital when I go in to have the baby. I figure he has been doing this for a while, so he knows what he is talking about... but at the same time my brain is going "wait... what!?"

I've been at the modest mouse/brand new concert in Cary today. It's 9:15 and still 80 with 85% humidity. I've been melting the whole time.
  • WTF clogged milk duct! I'm trying everything I can and finally have a little bit of relief after some heat, but ow.

The confusion around the TDAP shot is so, so infuriating, but I don't blame most people for being confused. I mean, a pharmacist should probably know better, but the general public confusion I get.

I've had to explain it to like 5 people that the pertussis immunity from the shot or booster doesn't stick around for 10 years or even 4 years...that if you're going to be in close proximity with a newborn just go and fucking get it. It's really annoying to have to keep on explaining it to people, some of whom asked their doctors and their doctors also said "You're all set!" Nope, you're not. I wish there was some massive CDC campaign that did it for us.
This...I've had to explain to so many people and even my SO was being lazy about getting it. Everyone was fine with me telling them they had to have had it in the last two years if they wanted to come around the baby, but they had no idea!

Edited to add: good luck @erin2

I by no means mean any disrespect to your family, but holy shit. People like that piss me off. I absolutely cannot stand people who are perfectly capable of working that refuse to do so because why work when the government will give handouts?!
  • Why is it I can nap just fine at any point in the day but when it comes to going to bed at night I can't sleep to save my life. I'm on bath #2 for the night, drank my sleepy tea, hubs rubbed my feet with lavender, tried all my tricks and still cannot get to sleep. Shoot me.
