Had my 39 week appointment today. They aren't doing any cervical checks until my due date. I am trying hard to not get impatient, but so far there is just nothing really happening that I can tell and I really want to meet her. The midwive said she feels like a pretty "robust" baby though. She estimates around 8 pounds!
Just had a fantastic 36w OB appointment. We presented our Dr the birth plan. You could tell she thought it was a bit diva-ish at first but she patiently sat down with us, read it line by line, and gave her respectful feedback on every item on what we should expect and how to reword some things so that the hospital staff may better receive it. She spent a ton of time with us explaining things and her schedule was packed, so we're very grateful.
That is so awesome! I was nervous to show my dr mine for some reason, but she was basically like "ok sounds fine"
i got the Milkys milk saver on Amazon and it is wonderful! It's this silicone plasticky thing you stick on the non nursing side under a bra or tight tank. There is a hole for your nip and your milk during your let down leaks into there! Each feeding I have leaked a half oz to an oz of milk! I started using it yesterday and have stored up 7 oz so far just from that! Also my baby booby pads and my shirt aren't getting all wet! Anyways I recommend it!
Congrats new mama's. Babies are waaaaay too cute. I can't wait to snuggle mine If she ever decides to arrive. I feel like I'm going to be pregnant forever lol
I'm sure this is silly, but I feel like if I laugh (or cough or sneeze, etc.) too hard that it'll make me have contractions or break my water lol #StomachSoTight
I got my butt chewed out by a L/D nurse today. Basically, my US and NST sucked and my MFM sent me to LD to be monitored. While there, the Nurse ask if my water broke or was leaking. I said 'No, but I wish it would. This would all be over then'. She gave this the 'go to he'll look' and told me how the last few weeks are crusual for baby and what not. That pregnancy is not fun and this is about my child, not my comfort. Which I totally get and agree, I am not doing anything to being labor on, but if my water breaks, then it is time. Dh just looked at her and said 'yes, we know. Brain growth is very rapid in the 9th month. But when you have Pre-E, are coming to the hospital 3 or 4 times a week, have been admitted twice, and now the baby has significantly decreased his movement... sometimes it's better to be on the outside '. I was so proud of him. At the time, my CNM came in and told me that she was glad they were cutting me soon since my latest lab work is getting slightly worst. That nurse just looked at me, flipped her chin and walked away. She is my TW Friday edition.
I'm soooo tired of people asking me if the baby is here yet or if I've started having contractions. My cousin (who I rarely see) just sent me a fb message asking if the baby was here yet and if not try to hold out until Sunday bc it's her bday. Bitch really??! Bc somehow the birth of my baby is about you. People are so nosy and selfish.
@Heathereaddy omg yes! I have a friend who INSISTS that my baby be born on her birthday and I keep telling her that technically that would make my baby pre-term because I won't be 37 weeks yet. Like STOP!!! It's NOT funny. And it's selfish.
@Nzamorw Congrats. Obviously you are busy with a beautiful baby, but I need to ask... What do you mean by "water broke with poop chunks"? Your poop? His poop?
@BecauseBabyIamAPug I may not know him, but I'm so proud of your husband for that awesome response. I'm so sorry you had to deal with that behavior from her!
Congratulations to all of the new mamas! It's so exciting to see all of these babies arriving.
@BecauseBabyIamAPug That nurse sounds like a total bitch. I'm sorry that you had to deal with her. Your husband rocks for speaking up and setting her straight!
Ahhhh! So many new babies! Congratulations, all. Your stories, while sometimes scary, are so encouraging and helpful.
Me, I've got 20 days until my EDD and I don't know how I'm going to do it. The hip and pelvic pain is so bad that I'm seriously considering using a wheelchair. I've always welcomed the challenges my cerebral palsy has brought me but this part of my pregnancy has been pretty unbearable, what with all of my joints being wonky and my crotch feeling straight up broken. I've never regretted signing a lease on a third floor apartment with no elevator more! I just feel like I've hit a wall and I selfishly wish this could all be over yesterday.
Enough whining. I really just wanted to say thanks to everyone for all of the advice, stories, rants and raves. I know I haven't contributed much but all of you internet strangers have been an excellent source of support and I'm so happy for all of your gorgeous, growing families.
Did any of you ask your Dr's if they're on call/working this weekend? I didn't even think to ask and now that I'm showing symptoms of early labor I'm starting to panic it won't be my Dr if I go into labor in the next couple of days. I've totally shifted my focus from "come on baby!" to "Stay put until Tuesday!!".

Nope but mainly because I know our dr's rotate so I have whoever is on call in L&D at the time and I know my dr is on vacation!

My doctor is out until Wednesday. I don't think baby will come before then but I'm not too stressed out if my doctor isn't there.
My doc is normally only there on Wednesday's so I don't count on having her. She did actually mention she is at the hospital all weekend but I don't think anything is going to happen. I did go to the meet the OB night and met all of the non mfm OB's that deliver there and feel really comfortable with the hospital I chose
My OB will be here this weekend but she's on vacation the 5th-10th. My EDD is the 8th. If she's not here when I go into labor, oh well, I'll be having a baby. If she's here when I go into labor, great! I'll be having a baby with my OB present. I'd like to have her there but there's never any guarantees.
When I first met my OB she said just so your aware I might not be the one on call when u go into labour. Personally I don't care who is on call when I go into labour as they are all professionals who know what's up. Don't panic, it'll all work out if you do go into labour and your Dr. isn't there.
My Dr was on vacation when I went into labor this go around. The on call Dr was one from the same practice but I had never met. But she didn't make it, the nurses delivered the baby, and another OB ended up delivering the placenta. Actually only one of my four boys were delivered by an actual OB. Definitely don't worry if your OB isn't there. It will all work out.

STM and I agree with not worrying too much if your OB is not there. Mine was there and I hardly saw her during my 8.5 hour labor and she barely made it back to the room to deliver DD. I had a fantastic nurse who pretty much handled everything and was prepared for the delivery if need be.
I found out in April that my OB wasn't delivering after May. Plus, I read (probably on here somewhere) that you should see all of the OBs in the practice because you never who'll be on call that day. So I started seeing other doctors. I've met almost all of the delivering OBs. There's only 1 I "didn't like" so I'm good on that.
I've never even met my doctor, he's only called in for emergencies or for a high risk pregnancy! It'll be the midwife's delivering LO and it could honestly be by someone I've never laid eyes on. Whats the longest you ladies have gone without feeling baby move, he was very active last night so I'm just trying to figure out the last time I felt movement, BF is telling me I felt him in the car like five hours ago (my memory is so bad these days) I've had a cold drink so I'm hoping that wakes him.
Actually never mind...... he kicked as I was about to press post

My doctor is on vacation this week, but I've met all the other doctors except one that just started there last month. They're all nice so I don't really care. Also you barely see the doctor. I'm more concerned about what nurses I end up with. Thankfully I've been to the hospital once and everyone was super nice.
