@stellaluna14 Seriously. When I have big meals on weekends now, I get sharp pains in a small specific area of my abdomen that I think is just being too stretched too quickly. Haha.
Thank you all! Rounding the one day mark. Layla is doing so well but I might be a bit biased! She's tolerated all the poking, prodding and every procedure they've thrown her way SUPER well. She might cry a bit if it annoys her but the second it's over, she's done! As if it never was an issue, hahaha! Baby snuggles are priceless. I cannot get over how well they come out knowing us!!! Pretty amazing!
@HenchBytch - I have to say your comment about command strips gave me a genius idea! I want to hang my DIY mobile over the crib but DH didn't want to put a hook in the ceiling because we're in a rental (and we have enough nail holes to fill as it is!). Sure enough, I searched and Command makes a ceiling hook that will hold a lightweight mobile!
Congrats to all the new mommies! Like everyone else it's making me very anxious to meet mine! I feel like I'm behind everyone since I'm due so late in July. Oh well. my random: today is my first cervical check today. I'm a little nervous! I don't remember them from my last pregnancy. I know I had them they just aren't at the forefront of my mind. I haven't shaved or anything ..... Planned on it last night but was not feeling well so never got around too it. Oops! ETA: this may belong in the symptoms thread. I'm bleeding a bit this morning. Not sure what to make of that. Glad my appt is first thing this morning. Kinda freaking out a bit now! DH is out of town and I'm all alone!
@lucy2113 everything's fine! Dr. said the bleeding was just my cervix softening. I am ahead of the game tho - 2CM dilated, 50% effaced. He was a little shocked, as was I. But all it well. Thanks!
Good luck on the cervical checks. I had my first one in the hospital last week before induction and I started laughing immediately... It was a very odd sensation. Some doc's/nurses were more aggressive with their checks than others too. You can do it though!!!!!!!!!!!
Did any of you who have had the membrane sweep think it was super painful? My doc is planning to do it tomorrow and my mom said it was really painful and was trying to convince me to make an appointment to get acupuncture to induce labor to avoid the pain of the sweep! I'm not going to do that, I'm not too worried about the membrane sweep even if it does hurt, but is it really THAT painful?! Maybe she just had a bad experience.

I had an unsuccessful sweep my first pregnancy (unsuccessful mostly bc that kid wasn't about to budge on his own) at 39w3d. It was uncomfortable but I wouldn't describe it as painful. It's obviously more aggressive than a cervical check but not stabby, in my experience. Breathing through it is manageable and the pain stops after. Cramping and contractions that may (or may not) result after will vary in strength. I plan on asking for one today (39w5d) because I am a lot more progressed this time around and it's more likely to be effective bc of that.

Not to be a Debbie downer but I remember my sweep being really painful with DS. It won't stop me from having another one though... The pain doesn't last long. But I also find cervical checks to be painful.
I just realized I hadn't seen our cat in awhile. Sure enough, he's in the crib having a little nap in "his" new bed. lol...I guess I have to line it with tin foil like I did with the pack n play!
@sboston06 Tin foil didn't work for us! Our cat jumped on the first time and freaked out, but then once he did it the second time he just settled in on top of the foil. You're so lucky you found an easy solution.
@sboston06 When I cannot find my cat I know where to look for her! She looks so damn cute in the crib but then I have to remember that it's not for her and she needs to get the f out! lol

@BeachTigress Oh so true! He looked precious in there all curled up. I felt like a big meanie pulling him out. He's just such a great friendly cat that I'm afraid he'll try to cuddle the baby and accidentally suffocate him/her.
This is a kind of WWYD question, I had an appointment today and asked about the GBS test because there had been no mention of it. Turns out my hospital doesn't test for it and they don't really give out anti biotics during labour because chances of having it and passing it on are low. I have a 38% chance of having it because I previously had it, my question would be, would you insist on the antibiotics anyways? I was given some information to read through but it doesn't really help me decide. I still can't understand why they won't test me now. So frustrating!

Considering the CDC guidelines I would be pissed about this and talking to your physician. I wouldn't request antibiotics without a positive culture, but I would be pushing for them to culture given your history.
@HMcDade1 I don't think those guidelines apply in Ireland. I'll definitely be speaking to my own doctor about it, the hospital were of no help. They said- No they won't test me but I can request the anti biotics. If I don't get them during labour and baby is exposed to it he will need any biotics and a stay in the NICU. That really doesn't help put anyone's mind at ease hearing that!
Just catching up on my bumping- congratulations to all the new momma's! Babies are all beautiful I'm way too lazy to go back and tag, but everybody getting close to due dates, FX for you! Hope you are all feeling better soon, and your LO's don't make too late of an entrance.
I missed TW Tuesday, but I need to complain about my TW self. The last few weeks of pregnancy I was pooping like 4 times a day. Now I've only gone once since delivering, and it was almost as painful as pushing a kid out. Is it weird that I miss it?? I feel like I took pooping for granted.
I wanted to know if any moms planning to breastfeed have adequate air circulation in the nursery? There are windows in LO room but being summer time and having the a/c running in other rooms, I don't want to open them unless it's cool enough to do so. Our home is rather old and there are no ceiling fans. I also don't plan to put an air conditioner in LO room as it's not a good idea for newborns from what I am told. I was just going to invest in a $20-$30 oscillating fan or one of those tower fans. Seems the most logical for a fan... Thoughts?
Update: I'm reading this and sound like an idiot....i just bought the oscillating tower from walmart.....problem solved and no sweaty breastfeeding
37 weeks, 2 days today. I had my 37 week appointment today and they asked if I wanted a cervical exam. I said yes because I have so much pressure down low. She said, "basically nothing, but baby is really low, so if you feel like you are sitting on a head, that's because you are." I knew I should have just said no! Now I'm just pouty! Oh well...
I had my first cervical check today too @hannahmp. Nothing going on down there so many vagina kicks and BH contractions but nothing effective apparently!
I'm afraid I'm going to go in tomorrow for my appointment (on my due date) and find out I'm not dilated or effaced at all. I turned down the check last week but now I'm just nervous about what I'll find out tomorrow...

@sboston06 this is DS and our cat when he was a baby. We didn't let the cat sleep with him in his crib till he was about 1 but they were buddies from the start. I'm sure because all of DS things were so soft and comfy
I had my appt today and I was worried about showing no progress too since I'm due in three days. But it turns out I'm 4 cm dilated, 80% effaced, head engaged, and water bag "bulging". She offered to "shake things up in there" and HOLY SHIT it was so painful but maybe that's because of how dilated I am so my cervix is super fucking sensitive? It didn't hurt for long but dammmmmmmn. For a little lady with tiny hands she sure knows how to rough up a girls cervix! Fingers crossed it gets something moving!
Go @stellaluna14! I got checked at my appointment today too, 1.5cm and 70% effaced, nothing to call home about. DH was quite disappointed to learn that it doesn't really mean anything and there is no "average" timeline of what that means for baby arrival.
@stellaluna14 Yay! Sounds like you're well on your way! I think the pain would be preferred to finding out I haven't made any progress, so I hope for good news too! Maybe this weekend will be filled with babies!

So, this probably should've gone in the WTF thread but I was so upset leaving the doctor's office yesterday I didn't have words.
Last week's appt, Dr. Nice told me I was 2cm dilated and "lookin' good". He always treats me with respect, explains what's going on with my body, and expresses genuine interest in my symptoms and questions.
This week, Dr. MacDoodyface told me I was really only 1cm according to his measurements, the baby was at a -3 station and I am probably looking at being pregnant "a little while longer." WHY WOULD YOU SAY THAT TO A SUPER PREGNANT LADY??? He then refused to consider stripping membranes or talking about induction options after the 41 week point. Every time I've seen him, he seems uninterested or dismissive of symptoms or questions and just generally wants to get in and out of the room as quickly as possible.
I spent 15 min on the phone with my sister crying afterwards.

Its uncomfortable, with pressure but nothing compared to what your about to endure having a baby.
Its worth a shot!
