I have a quick one tomorrow afternoon, for the 16-week appointment. I am sure it's just vitals and DH isn't even coming with, or at least I told him that he probably didn't need to. Then the countdown begins for the AS on July 26! Although, we already know what we're having... I need the confirmation as long as baby cooperates.

Today going in to do a private US to see if we can find out the sex.
On Thursday I have an appointment with my OB. Doing my glucose test, and also DH is going to get his blood tested to find out his blood time. I am A- so if he has a positive blood type I have to get some shots before I'm 26 weeks.
Appointment with the midwife on Wednesday. I'm pretty sure it will be boring, but she lets her patients analyze their own pee, so that's fun! I have recently been worrying (possibly irrationally) about whether I have a silent UTI, as I feel like I've been peeing a lot, so it will be good to get that checked out just in case. And hey, if I get to listen to my baby's heartbeat, that's a win in my book!

16 week appointment today! No ultrasound, doc just checked uterus growth (growing at a fast, healthy rate) and got to hear baby's heartbeat on the doppler. More blood work needed for the second part of the trisomy test, but the first came back low risk so we expect this to be low risk too. Scheduled my 20 week appointment and anatomy scan 4 weeks from today. DH can't wait.

Anatomy Scan today showed that the baby is still a BOY - so our early 3D ultrasound was correct. The baby is doing great and is measuring 3 days ahead! oh and a bit of bad news: I learned that I have Anterior Placenta....so I won't be feeling him for a while and DH won't feel him till closer to 3rd trimester probable. But he was kicking away at my bladder and punching my placenta...lol...

Also we are traveling to Indianapolis on Wednesday and my friend there said they have a place that does the elective ultrasounds for sex determination, so I seriously want to do it but DH doesnt seem interested.
Who has had those done? I am in Texas and it seems like maybe they arent allowed here, but in other states they are more common, anyone know about this?
@mattanda2011 I'm in Arkansas and we had our elective ultrasound this past weekend to find out baby's sex. It was a really awesome experience, it was only $90 and we got a CD of 33 pictures that we can print out and a DVD recording of the ultrasound, plus two printouts of the baby's little boy parts and his profile. I don't think I'll ever regret having done it just because we have all those keepsakes to show him when he's older. Have you googled anything about elective ultrasound places near you? I didn't even know our town had one until I went to google!
@mattanda2011 I'm in Indy! I haven't done the elective U/S but tempted too! tomorrow is my 16 week appointment which should be nothing exciting but then I get to set our A/S!
I think there are clinics in my city (upper Midwest) that do elective u/s. A friend of mine was able to get one before she had one at the OB. I can't remember what one she went to, but she said it was fairly cheap.

So I have checked the places around me and they say they need a statement of health from your dr that they have already done at ultrasound at the dr office etc. Well my dr office won't give them one - I guess they don't like the elective places. The place my friend found in Indy doesn't say anything about that so I thought maybe that was some kind of state law.
Those of you who have had the elective, did your dr office have to sign off on anything?
I have my glucose test Wednesday. Did anyone else have their doctor's office give the bottle directly to you? All my friends/fam have said that's not the norm. They legit gave me the bottle and said to drink it 15-30 minutes before my scheduled appointment. So given how traffic is by my house, I'm planning to keep it in a cooler and drink it in the parking lot of my doctor's office.
@juliehollz13 same here with the anterior placenta. I'm also overweight so my U/s tech said it might be closer to 25 weeks before I feel him.

@em01092 my U/S tech told me to focus on the feelings I get on my sides. She said if you get a random "gas bubble" feeling on your side or low pelvis it's more than likely the baby moving.

My OB gave me my bottle at my 12wk appointment, and I'm going in on Thursday (15wk). They gave me an instruction sheet, and it says to drink an hour before my appointment. They said that some offices have you drink it at your appointment, and you have to wait there an hour before they can see you. She said if I take it an hour before, they will see me immediately.

I was not required to have anything from my doctor, but I was required to sign a consent form and I also had to give my doctor's name, place of practice, etc. Not sure if that's considered a HIPPA violation or not now that I think of it, but I think they just use it to emphasize that you really need to be receiving prenatal care. I don't actually know if they called my doctor or not to tell them I got it done or to confirm that I am receiving care there, but it didn't really bother me. I can see where most people would get bothered by it though.
@karabearrr yeah sounds like what my doctor's office did. The nurse said to remember the exact minute I finished the drink, because my blood will be drawn one hour from that. I guess they do that to speed up the process, so you can take it at home if you want, but honestly I'm ok with taking it there. I'm afraid I'll feel funky and will want to lay down. Especially since I can't have any water. Omg. I drink SO much water and that alone is one of the main reasons I'm not looking forward to this.

I have my 16-week appointment tomorrow, another run-of-the-mill. However, the doctor barely found the heartbeat last time, only for like 2 seconds and didn't even get a count on it so I'm really hoping that we have a solid heartbeat to hear this time. I've really need the reassurance!

@mattanda2011 the place I went to just had me bring a print out of the appt time or some proof that I was seeking prenatal care, and also had me fill out a form with my Dr's contact information. She also asked me if I've ever had an US before.

I have my ultrasound in like 4 hours to see what our little baby is! I'm super excited and feel like I've been waiting for this forever. Then I have my 16 week appointment afterward. They're going to run labs on my thyroid and do a quad panel as well since my insurance wouldn't cover the first trimester ultrasound.

Appt tomorrow with my perinatologist for a BP follow up and ultrasound! Heard back from my OB office saying I passed my glucose test, and all my kidney function and base line bloodwork came back normal.
I have a Diabetes and regular OB app tomorrow. I'm a bit worried that my A1C will be low and that I'll get in trouble. I also have to reschedule my AS to a week before or after the original date.

Those of you who have had the elective, did your dr office have to sign off on anything?
@mattanda2011 - there's good reason for this. While elective ultrasound places aren't inherently bad, they are not approved for diagnosing, evaluation, measuring or otherwise. In some states there are very strict laws against using medical devices (u/s) machines for elective procedures. Either way, most OB's don't love the idea since a non-responsible tech may make a flagrant comment inciting panic, mention a cause for concern, etc. I think many now require (from what I've heard) info on your OB/MW whatever to ensure you're seeking proper prenatal care. If they see anything concerning they are also supposed to contact your provider.
I had a really bad experience at one with DS. I won't over share here, but had they done the right thing and alerted my doctor or me of what they saw, it could have prevented a life threatening situation for both of us.
Simple 16 week check today- HB took forever to find but was 150 once we found a good spot Next appointment is 7/26 and we will do the Anatomy Scan that day

@juliehollz13 & @em01092 - I had an anterior placenta last pregnancy (and this one too), and I felt DD at 18 weeks still. The trick for me was identifying hiccups because they'll happen every few seconds as opposed to a confusing gas bubble, and babies get a lot of hiccups at this stage Don't lose hope, you still may be able to feel movement before 25 weeks.
ETA: And good luck on the appointments to everyone else!!!
Back from 14w6d appointment. Didn't think we'd get an ultrasound but we did She said she doesn't bother with the Doppler this early since its hit and miss. Baby measuring 16w1d. They were sitting with their legs all tangled (just like mama) and just rocking back and forth. She got a decent shot and is thinking boy, but not 100%. We'll see at the anatomy scan at 20 weeks.
Had a great 16wk appt today - no problems and found the heartbeat immediately at 158bpm! Next appt should be in four weeks on the 26th but he's on vacation so we had the option of going a week early or pushing a week out and since everything is going so well decided to go a week out so next appointment is August 3rd to see the doctor and have a sonogram :-)
Had my 16-week appointment yesterday, which was a quick one - weight (had only gained about 4lbs since June 3, which I was happy with considering no work outs and eating whatever), BP (good), and went over some questions. I had been getting that sciatica pain in my left butt cheek for the past couple of days, so I got a brochure for some stretches I can do. My OB was able to find the babies heartbeat, and once I could differentiate between mine and the baby it all made sense. *lol* She said it was in the 140's, which was great. No other concerns and confirmed that all lab stuff from my last (and first) appointment was good.
Next one is July 26 (20 weeks) for the anatomy scan, and I got the remainder of my appointments through December all booked! Glucose test is September 20.

Had a lovely 14-week appointment with my midwife this morning. It's always so great to hear the baby's ticker going. Heart rate was strong at 149-155, and baby was very wiggly and kicking. (Nothing I could feel though, ha.) This weekend I'm going to be going back home for a month, which will be great because my mom is also a midwife, so I can make her break out the Doppler any time I want!

I had a shit show of a doctors appt today. I had to bring DS. I then waited 45 minutes for the doctor. 45 minutes with a 3 year old ripping the office apart. Only to have the doctor come in, ask me the same questions the nurse asked about my palpitations 2 days ago and said she'd give me a referral to a cardiologist. So... Why am I here? I actually got shitty about it. I'm also fighting my due date. And I believe I was extra bitchy after a 45 minute wait to get a referral you could have given me over the phone.
TL;DR I need to see a cardiologist for my heart. Yay!
@DiFazette is there a reason they are referring you to a cardiologist? Like the palps aren't normal? I guess I really need to bring mine up at my appointment tomorrow.
@sourlemon - she said they could be normal, but with my history and carrying twins - better safe than sorry. Extra heart strain. From what she said more severe palpitations end up on beta blockers - which help BP too, so it's only a matter of time before I'm medicated I guess.
Had my appointment yesterday @ 15wk+4. Took my glucose test; should get results back within a week.
Also has blood drawn for a couple other tests as well. Midwife told me I need to start gaining weight and I was like, uhhhh. LOL. I lost 6 pounds in the beginning and gained 5 back, so I'm back to where I started, but we'll see. She said I need to eat more protein, but I honestly can't stomach meat right now.
Also got hear the baby's HB, she found it right away @ 152 bpm. I go back again when I'm 19 weeks.
@karabearrr My OB said as long as you are eating what you can/when you can, drinking water, keeping down your prenatals, and the baby is growing, a little weight loss, especially early on, is ok. I've lost 10ish for the pregnancy. 230ish to start. I was 219 at my appointment Wednesday. Now she did say if I'd been like 100 pounds to start with we'd be having a different conversation, but as she put it, "I had some to spare."
I saw a midwife this visit after my glucose blood draw and she also found the heartbeat right away! It was 140.
