So I'm being worked in right now to see my doctor. The past few days I have noticed the middle of the bottom part of my belly has hardened. I figured it was just extra fat that I've put on, but last night and earlier at work I started to get pain in it. Also baby Jaxon hasn't been moving around as much. Has anyone else experienced this? I was already overweight and had a pooch before getting pregnant, but this is different.

  • Had a dr app today and my blood pressure was high enough to make my dr consider sending me to the hospital to deliver. After I talked to her she sent a nurse to retake my bp and it was even higher than before. Then she switched out the armband to a bigger armband and my bp showed up better but still a little high. Should I be concerned that it took a bigger armband to make my bp slightly normal?
  • @HMcDade1 that's kinda what I assumed. Yeah the first band fit just fine, it's the one they use on me every appointment. I feel fine but should I just go to the hospital anyway?
  • @HMcDade1 not to ask you for medical advice lol but I'm kinda just asking what would you do because I really have no idea.
  • @victoria98 do you have access to a monitor at home ? A Walgreens or someone who could recheck it in a little while for you? I would recheck it in a few hours and see if it's gone up or down.. And then call your after hours line / go in depending on the numbers. Obviously if you have vision changes a bad headache or new swelling before then I would just go.

@hmcdade1 haha it's okay! No snark taken, but my doc said that I have edema pretty bad on my belly and she did a cervix check. I am 1.5 cm dilated and he seems to be head down. Which is completely different from what another doc told me Saturday.
  • @setosh I didn't even realize you could get edema on your belly!

I know right!! She said the only thing I could do is to rub it to kick start circulation... BUT IT HURTS! Thankfully it's not harmful to the LO.
  • Any STM+ have lightening crotch way worse the second or third time around? I mentioned it to my midwife at my appt this week, it was so bad the other day I couldn't concentrate on driving out of a parking lot. It's been really bad all afternoon, and literally stops me in my tracks, and has been happening pretty frequently, not to mention when I bend over as well. I don't remember it being this bad with my first.
  • @HMcDade1 I actually ended up coming in. My two dogs got in a fight and I was sitting there trying to break it up for like 15 minutes! I guess the stress made me feel light headed but it scared me enough to go ahead and go to L&D. They're monitoring my bp and so far so good. Feel kinda dumb for coming in because my head feels fine now but I did feel really bad earlier. My dogs are fine btw thank God!
  • @LadyFleck that's exactly how my legs & feet looked the other day! Have you tried soaking them in Epsom salt? I soaked mine in some lavender scented salt and it was amazing. My feet and legs were back to themselves the next morning!
  • @victoria98 That was AFTER I soaked them in ice water (while sitting in the sun watching my husband burn brush) and they still look like Shrek feet. I had done a few Epsom salt baths but ran out of salt. Need to get more for sure.
  • Anyone else's ribs hurting a lot? Also belly, fupa and thigh are rubbing consistently when I sit and that is just not fun!

My ribs hurt constantly, but especially after I've been lying down for awhile. I thought it would ease up when he dropped but no luck so far. It seems like everything on my body hurts at some point during the day.
  • @Backbypopulardemand The rib pain has been really bad lately. Mine alternates between pain and numbness, so I'm guessing a baby is on a nerve up in there. I've found that letting warm water run over it in the shower provides a little relief.

@shanparadise yes I get the numbness too which I find weird since she is so low! I've been thinking it may be pinched nerves

  • @Backbypopulardemand My ribs have hurt less since he got his head out of them but I find I occasionally get a ripping pain now, where it feels like my belly will rip off starting at the ribs
  • Oh @LadyFleck I feel your pain! I have been putting ice packs on my feet and elevating them and nothing has really helped so far. Going to the store later to get some Epsom salt and give that a try. My legs are swollen from the knees down. :(
  • I took some prenatal yoga classes where we learned to sit on the floor and lean back against a yoga ball (can support your lower back with a pillow in the space between it and the ball and roll up a towel to place your head on if you want to relax). So your back is curving around the ball a bit, sit cross legged and breath.  This really helps open the lungs and rib area to provide some relief to my ribs!
  • @MDmomma1217 this is my 3rd pregnancy and I didn't have lightning crotch with either of the first 2 but i do this time around!
  • I have tried to alleviate sore ribs by yoga pose "downward dog" where you are on all 4s and arch your back and back to neutral position.
I have also tried where you stand about 2 feet from a wall, and with your arms criss crossed you lean against the wall arms still criss crossed and walk your hands upward until you can't get any higher and remain there as long as you can stand it....it temporarily takes the pressure off the ribs. Only a temporary solution but feels better than that constant pain!
Even though LO dropped a bit and I thought I was home free, I'm still getting pain on my right side so I lay down on my left or straight on my back and that seems to help immensely but everyone is different!
Hope you ladies get some relief!

  • I had bad rib pain for awhile too (usually with a bit of numbness to the top of my bump). I found that sitting backwards in a chair and letting my belly fall forward helped. Basically anything that allows your belly to forward-hang free and not in a reclined position. I haven't had any pain there since baby dropped, but the hip and pelvis pain have made up for it!

  • @LadyFleck- my feet looked the same way with DD. However, this pregnancy has been better. My dr recommended drinking water with lemon or lime in it and I think that really helps me.

About 3 days after I got home from delivering DD all the swelling went down. When I saw my ankles again, I felt so skinny and excited!  It didn't matter that I was still 30 lbs over my pregnancy weight. It was just amazing to not be swollen anymore.
  • I was expecting the leg swelling but now I have it on my lower belly too...  Maybe a few inches below what used to be my belly button. At first I thought it was fat but its definitely pitting edema (leaves an imprint when i press on it). It's been there for awhile now, no big changes.

I swear I've had all the weird pregnancy symptoms and none of the regular ones.

  • Sore everywhere, tired, crampy but no contractions and pooping a lot.
  • Lots of period like cramping today but no contractions. Felt as if baby's arm was reaching down towards my cervix at one point today and caught me by enough surprise that I yelped haha
  • @jlmartinez517 that's happened to me a couple of times!  I swear she's trying to claw her way out sometimes!

  • I'm not sure if it's a  "symptom" or more like an annoying side effect but my teeth are unbelievably sensitive. Gah! And of course all I want is to eat ice and drink cold water.

Mine started doing that too!!! I went and got some sensitive toothpaste and it helped a lot.

  • @winnie1122 that's what I use and it isn't helping any longer. Though, I suspect if I didn't they'd be a lot worse! I'm glad I'm not the only one experiencing this

Here to complain....back hurts, vagina hurts, ribs hurt. Everything is heavy and hard. I can't get up or bend over. Constipated, extremely tired with random burst of energy, sore throat and can't sleep at night. I think that's about it. Just trying to keep on going but with two kids and a husband who works all the time, it's getting difficult, but hey!!!!! Almost there!

I'm starting to lose the plug or what I like to call baby cork. I'm still betting that the doctor is completely off on my EDD of July 26th. Getting random sharp pains in my belly, too. Fun stuff.
  • I am OVER the same routine of contractions for hours and then nothing everyday. Seriously. I think I'm losing my mind.
