Re: Monday Bitchfest 6/20

  • @rozANDbenSINCE2001 - My foot is still really gross, but it seems to be healing a bit. I found a way to bandage it, so at least I don't have to stare at it all day. The general consensus is that I'll live! :)

  • @CopperBoom86 yikes! I hope it heals soon! Foot injuries seem to be a trend, last week while I was doing dishes the cutting board fell off the counter onto my foot (edge side down) and bruised the heck out of the top of my foot!

  • @CopperBoom86 Man! Well I'm wishing your poor foot a speedy recovery!!

@LGW2015 doesn't it always seem when you drop something it always lands on your sensitive toes?! I have anxiety watching my kid play because I'm afraid she's gonna throw one of her heavy toys on her little piggies! She's a rough houser!

@annabenanna Ahhhh! I love it!!! That's so cute! My husband bought baby a cute little onesie, which totally swelled my heart, but I haven't started purchasing anything yet because we're going out of town next week. I've been adding tons to my registry, though, and I'm gonna move the date up again so I can get the completion discount even earlier! Have you decided on all the fun "big" purchases? I can't decide on my double stroller! I've been going back and forth! It's driving my husband crazy because he's just like, yeah babe, whatever you want, but I don't know!

  • That's probably a good thing @nlane0723. By the time you get to talk to him, you woudl have had a chance to cool off and not be as angry!

@rozANDbenSINCE2001, we have the crib stuff already, we decided on a babyletto Orgami (MIL and FIL bought and sent via Amazon! :) ) we have the stroller (we got a bugaboo bee+ used from OfferUp, and got a really good deal)... we just need a car seat now!  We have the Keyfit30 on our registry.
  • @annabenanna Ooo! Nice find on the bugaboo! I've been scouring craigslist for a city select, but didn't even think to check offerup! I'll have to check it out! And awesome on the nice gift from the in laws!! Someone gave us their very gently used KeyFit and we really love it. It's so nice and light! It seems like you're really moving along! Hubs and I are procrastinating, for sure

  • @rozANDbenSINCE2001, I've been keeping my eye on two things on offerup:  a Boon Flair Pedestal High Chair (retails for $239), but I saw it in action at a daycare tour we went to, and really really LOVE the small footprint.  Also a mamaroo.  But i've read that while some babies LOVE it, some hate it.  So i dunno if it's worth it, you know?

Don't worry about the procrastinating... I think we still got time! :)  Focus on the important things first: like yourself. The rest will figure itself out later. :)  Did you do anything fun for father's day?

I got a used mamaroo this time. I sold my last one from my first two girls when we moved cause they didn't like it and at the time we weren't sure we were having more kids or not. This time I debated a lot about getting one again. I decided to try it in case he loved it, but I found a good used one this time, that I'll be able to sell for the same price if he hates it so I don't loose money.

  • @annabenanna I wish listed a few City Select strollers on OfferUp! Thanks for the tip!
We borrowed a mamaroo from my cousin for DD and unfortunately she didn't like it. My cousin also ended up having a problem with the motor twice and the company that makes it wouldn't replace it for her without a receipt, which she didn't have since it was gifted to her. However, buybuybaby was amazing and replaced it twice for her since they saw it had been purchased off her registry. I think you're making a good decision to buy one used because, you're right, some kids just don't take to it.

My MIL threw my SIL a surprise bridal shower on Father's Day so that's what we did. It's always fun to see DH's family because there are SO many siblings (he's youngest of 8), but our toddler had refused her nap earlier and had a major tantrum at the party. Plus it was like 10,000 degrees outside and I was pretty much melting. Did you do anything fun? My cousin who lives near PB said the weather has been amazing and you guys aren't getting too much of June gloom, but she's also not pregnant and enjoys doing hot yoga so I believe you when you say it's been scorching there. I never got to see--did the girls like your "grownup" day of brunch and getting nails done when you announced to them about baby?

  • @Schell2013, that's the plan too!  To get a used one, and if it's not working, sell it!  I've been seeing some for $100 - $125.  Is that a used good price?

@rozANDbenSINCE2001, it was actually great!  We told the girls and they were so so so very excited.  Wanted to shop for the baby right away (ha ha ha, my kind of girls!).  They've been helping with prepping for baby, which means they've been making a ton of artwork for the baby's nook, and also suggesting names such as: Sailor.
You know what's crazy?  It was balls hot on Sunday.  Like insanely hot.  We went to the beach in the morning/noon but when we got home at 4pm it was still unbearably hot.  I took so many showers that afternoon. LOL.  Today though, it's gloomy and gray, and I'm wearing a light jacket!  How's the weather been over there?
  • @annabenanna That is too, too adorable! I'm sure they're gonna be awesome big sisters! :)
Chicago has been GROSS. I mean, hot, sticky, humid and just not very welcoming to be outside. We've been going to splash pads or pools a lot, though so we're managing! We're gonna be SO tan this summer. I'm Thai so I pick up color so easily and it seems DD takes after her mom instead of her Irish dad, so she's been getting nice color, too, even after slathering the sunscreen!

  • @annabenanna I got mine for $75 used. She was asking $100. Anything at $100 or less is a good price cause they're around $280-$300 new here in Canada.

  • And now I feel angry about that again... ugh.
  • @AllyTheKid , you're not alone girl, you're not alone.  SO has been very difficult when it comes to names.  He won't agree to Jonah, and I won't agree to Elliot.  So we are stuck again.  We have one name we both like, but cannot think of middle names.... the ones he suggests are too crazy for me... and the ones I suggest are too feminine for him!
  • @annabenanna I think Jonah Elliot sounds nice. :)
  • @sjo_thetwins, i'd go for that.... but SO won't touch Jonah at all!
  • @annabenanna boooo! I think Jonah is an awesome name. I liked the name Jasper Joseph if we were having a boy. The alliteration makes my heart sing and Jasper is so damn pretentious/adorable/heartbreaker/intelligent sounding.  If you were looking at another J name, that is. :)
  • Jasper is a beautiful name @sjo_thetwins!  will have to see if it gets short listed. :)
  • @sjo_thetwins I'm adding Jasper to our list!  Great name.
  • I love Jonah and Jonas too! Husband vetoed because he is German and his family pronounces all names in German and he doesn't like when you pronounce them the German way (the J becomes a Y sound so Yo-nah and Yo-nas)
  • It's Tuesday but I have no where else to complain. My husband is being a complete dick wad today, I seriously want to clobber him with my fist. Long story. My thumbs cannot type that much out.

  • @AllyTheKid Thank you so much! That really makes me feel great! I am starting to feel a little better. Since the anatomy scan, I've also been a bit more emotional and I'm so happy I got to see a healthy baby in there. My doc told me that usually sick moms means healthy babies, but I think she was just being nice. I'm so sorry to have brought the name issue up! Ugh! That has to be so frustrating!!! We had decided long ago on our names, but then DH said it's our tentative name when telling someone else. Uh, what? That's the first I heard of that. I'm not gonna budge, though. I'm so happy to be back, thank you again!!

  • I'm bringing back the bitchfest today. Pottery Barn had called at the beginning of June to say they would deliver the crib today.  I ordered the crib the beginning of May, but since it was no rush I said that time period was fine. They were to call the day before delivery with a 2-hour window, and call day of delivery about half an hour before arriving at my house. It's white glove delivery so they are supposed to be bringing everything in and setting it up for me.

Yesterday I waited for a phone call. Nothing. I finally called when I left work and asked where my delivery window was. The girl said she was going to check something and call me back. Guess what, no call back. So I called exactly at 8 am this morning to figure it out. This lady also said she would talk to her manager and call me back. I am not waiting all day again and I have a suspicion that the crib is not going to be here today.

I think I will give them until 10 to call me back before I call again. I've waited almost 2 months for a crib that should have been delivered within a month. Good thing I didn't wait to buy it closer to the due date. I've never had this issue with Pottery Barn before either. The bassinet was delivered early in fact. UGHHHHHH. Back to staring at my phone all day waiting on that call.

  • @ibabyloveb87 ... your next convo with them needs to involve the words, "no, you may not call me back, I will hold while you speak with your manager" and a request for a refund on the delivery charges if they can't get their act together today.
  • @bnsmith85 BOOM - and ditto. That's exactly how it should go down @ibabyloveb87 !!  2 months is insane, and the lack of customer service you've received more than once now is unacceptable.
  • I'm going to jump on the bring back the bitchfest bandwagon here and gripe for a moment:
We're doing a re-org at work. I'm super excited about it because it means I get to focus on client relationships and spend less time managing the idiots our HR team hires to market for us (that makes me sound mean, but seriously, I have no clue how some of them wipe their own asses in the morning). Anyway, because of the re-org I'm working more with our creative/digital team members. This is new for me as I've never managed these types of marketing campaigns before but the way the digital/creative team handles things is ridiculous! I have, no lie, been in 5 meetings just this week to talk about ONE marketing campaign we're running. FIVE... in ONE WEEK!

Seriously guys?! We can't hammer this out all together in one meeting this week? This is a waste of my damn time lol
  • Thanks @bnsmith85 and @LMNOBaby. Update: I called back and as soon as I did, the call back came in. Of course someone else has to call me with the delivery window time, but this customer service lady said she would call me back in an hour to be sure I had a time. If I don't when she calls me back, the manager will be getting an earful and a demand for some kind of compensation.

@bnsmith85 That would drive me insane. Work smarter, not harder!!!

  • @ibabyloveb87 ... YES! Exactly! The ridiculous part is, that's a phrase commonly used within our company.

And, good! I'm glad they're taking care of it! Don't be afraid to ask for that $ off on the delivery if you don't have a time frame for today by the time that lady calls back!
