Wow, this board is actually one of the most tame I've seen. I lurked all last pregnancy (Sept 14) because I didn't want to get shat upon. The chillness of this board is actually why I decided to participate this time.
I participated hardcore in Dec14. Any newbies who came in without getting a feel for the board got ripped to shreds. There were GBCB's on the frequent and it was fun for what it was, but it was also a bit mentally exhausting. I miss some snark, but I don't miss the theatrical exits.
Having trolled a few other boards, the snark on this board is pretty tame in comparison. I've found that the majority of ladies on this board are able to have conversations in a respectful manner, even when we're debating UO's. Personally, I just think the OP's original post was poorly worded as some have mentioned. Not to mention, we're a close knit group, and having someone come out of no where and ask a personal questions is a little jarring. It's the online equivalent of having a stranger coming up and asking you what you've gained for weight during pregnancy.
@MrsVoorhees I was on the February 2016 board previously and it was a little too brutal for my liking, so I mostly lurked instead. I think everyone here is really nice. BUT I am also enjoying learning all these sweet new acronyms, so I spose a casualty here and there is not so bad. Ha.
@MrsVoorhees I was on the S14 board last pregnancy! I knew you were a S14 mom, of course, but not that you'd been on TB last time.
Aww I wish I would've participated then I mostly went to read about symptoms and the threads with "is this normal" questions. I was too scared to participate because I got my shit handed to me (what does thst even mean?? Did I poop in someone's hand???) when I was an infant baby getting married on the knot. I was so young...so naive..so stupid.
@PoodleDoodleOoo woah, no idea that happened. I recognize her username (and yours and others) from TTGP but I thought it was nice having her here in the way you're happy someone from TTGP got their BFP... weird...
@Camichael84@AnnaS930 - she shit all over the TTGP board for similar reasons (no one wants to talk about anything except what they want to talk about and everyone is sooooo sensitive) and left a super insulting post when she got her BFP, too. So I think she was being serious, unfortunately.
Personally, I think this group talks about our weight all the time - in Bitchfests, confessions, randoms, other posts and we've all been supportive of it when someone is feeling insecure or wants to know if they are in the "norm." But this particular thread, from a completely new person without really having a question/concern to go with it felt more being nosy for the sake of nosiness - which I'm not a huge fan of.
I read the post thinking if she thinks this board is bad she wouldn't make it 2 days on the TTGP! lo and behold!!!! This board is so tame in comparison.
Sorry, Not sorry that someone who doesn't post often (or at all) gets offended. This board has different rules then other forums, it is treated like a community. If everyone just posted all willy nilly this would not be a tight knit group with a ton of repeat posts and topics to weed through.

Not going to lie that's how I react to seeing you @AlwaysAuntNeverMom on here! So happy you're here and got your BFP and we're in the same month. Same goes with @Sarafuss and @TheTamedShrew. I remember you all from TTGP and was happy we all got our BFPs and moved to the September board.
@MrsVoorhees From what I know about you here, I think you would have fit in on S14 (even if it was more brutal than S16).
I think most escalated issues on these boards happen when people post without lurking to get a feel and tone of the board. And sometimes it's just a "not a good fit" thing. I've lurked on other pregnancy boards, and it was obvious to me when it wasn't my style.
Eta: I also participated on TK and then lurked TTGP on and off when trying for my first. It took time for me to get comfortable posting as well.
I was really trying to avoid posting on this board because my natural tendency is to be a super-snark, and I have really been choosy about when to post that for the sake of the community here. However, this opportunity was too good to pass up. Please note: it's posted with as much love and affection that a snarky comment can be!
OMG you guys I just read the whole thread and I think this seals it for me. I can't stand this board any more. I left for a few weeks and came back recently but I'm done. No one is open to a discussion that doesn't fit into one of your stupid overcrowded "regular threads". If you don't like someone's question don't answer. I belong to so many mommy groups and forums and people ask the weight question ALL THE TIME! It's about comparing and sharing the experience, not body shaming. You are all seriously uptight and over sensitive. I'm out. Enjoy not learning a thing from each other because you're all too afraid to ask the question you really want to talk about. GBCB
Well I'm gonna play just so that other members who are bothered by this thread can feel much better! I was 148lbs pre pregnancy at 5'6. This is actually the heaviest I've been before getting pregnant. The first trimester I only gained 5 lbs but by 25 weeks I was up 22lbs in all. I can tell it's all gone to my thighs but nobody seems to notice yet so it's all good in the hood!
@jennlynn777 Pretty much the exact same for me. Pre-preg weight was 148 and I'm 5'6'' * highfive* But I've gained about 26 lbs already. Mostly in my thighs and rear. Since I've never had much of a butt before, I'm kind of enjoying it. It's a change but I look great in tights. LOL!
My mother was 110 lbs before getting pregnant and she gained 80 lbs with first baby. 80! She was still skinny EVERYWHERE but her tummy was gigantic. Her Dr. told her not to worry about it, as every woman gains differently. Sure enough, after her first was born she dropped all but 10 of those 80 lbs within the first months. *shrugs* She gained 60lbs for me and my little brother. Same story, dropped all of it but a few quickly after birth. Bodies are weird and strange and wonderful and everyone is different.
