Re: Symptoms Thread-Week of 6/20/16

  • 1. 7 weeks 3 days by LMP

    2. Light spotting and period like cramps :( over the last 3 days - calling midwife this morning.  Last pregnancy I had a bit of aggravated spotting (post-sex) and they just did an ultrasound to make sure the squish was there and put me on pelvic rest.  This is a little different since it is not 'aggravated' so am on high watch and trying to breathe deeply.

    3. Rant.  We had to fire another nanny - I'm so sick and tired of trying to find a good nanny!  I need to catch up on work!  Plus it would be a pain to go to the hospital this morning with DS#1 and I have no one to watch him - so I don't even want to call the midwife because she will likely tell me to come in for an ultrasound.  My understanding is that either way they can't do anything but lay my fears to rest so might as well wait it out and stay home unless I'm in real pain or have a full on bleed.

    2.  Any new symptoms this week? - nope.. just still dealing with intense nausea all day

    3.  Rants/Raves/Questions? - our neighborhood has the annual garage sale going on this week.. I may or may not be scoping out the goods. We got a really nice slide for DD last time.
  • 1.  How far along are you?
    5wks 2days

    2.  Any new symptoms this week?
Nope. Kind of nervous about the only symptoms being slightly sore boobs, but there's nothing I can do about it. Just wait for the US in 15 days (not that I'm counting).

    3.  Rants/Raves/Questions?
Kinda pissed at my brain for not feeling "really" pregnant yet and needing visual US confirmation before I let myself get truly giddy. We were at a birthday party with lots of babies last weekend and instead of smiling to myself that I was en route to one as well, I was wistful. Sigh.

    2.  Any new symptoms this week? Rolling nausea in the afternoon, aversions to food I used to love (avocados and chocolate, WHO AM I), all the emotions.

    3.  Rants/Raves/Questions? Went to somebody else's baby shower over the weekend, and it was lovely and awesome. Nobody there knows about me yet, so it was sort of amusing to be talking about pregnancy and babies and have to play like "this is all foreign to me!" @grapeskittles4lyfe it was probably very similar to your party. All the other childless women were like "okay, so IF I ever get pregnant," and I was like "yeah, IF, me too. weird. IF. Yeah!"

    2.  Any new symptoms this week? My abdomen is sore, almost like I've been doing cruches, but I haven't done crunches since like 2006.  I still am not vomiting, but I'm so nauseated and always gagging.  And the fatigue.  I could literally sleep all day.

    3.  Rants/Raves/Questions? Anyone else have to sore abdomen thing?  It's freaking me out.

    2.  Any new symptoms this week? Just more nausea that is now all day long.  I also can't handle any pressure on my stomach.

    3.  Rants/Raves/Questions?  I hate this part of pregnancy so much, but I'm so glad to have another little one!

  • 1.  How far along are you? 4 weeks 5 days

    2.  Any new symptoms this week? Still not really any symptoms. Sometimes right before bed I feel a little nauseous but not really close to vomiting. I seem to get dizzy easier. My boobs might be a little sore but it could be from me squeezing them every couple of hours to see if they are sore... I felt bloated last week but that seems to have subsided for the most part.

    3.  Rants/Raves/Questions? I know that it's still early for symptoms but it's freaking me out not having any real ones. Is anyone else or their SO worried about having sex now? I know it sounds dumb but I shared my fear with DH last night and turns out he feels the same way. I can't wait until July 1st, I feel like just hearing that it's ok from a doctor will make me feel better...

    2.  Any new symptoms this week?
Well the MS has officially begun. Vomiting is nothing new for me in general though. I have pretty bad anxiety and any kind of stress will make me start puking in an instant. I've been doing really well with that for the past couple months though, so I'm not thrilled to be starting again. At least it's for happy reasons  this time!

Also still spotting for the past 5 days or so

    3.  Rants/Raves/Questions?
DH actually asked to go to Babies R Us to get an idea of what we will need. He asked a lot of questions too which is good. He is excited but doesn't always like to show it so it was nice to see him want to do something baby related.

  • How far along: 5w5d

New symptoms: baby is making my GI tract more sensitive (not new but it went away for a bit) - dizziness has increased - cold at night, especially when I go to bed... still quite tired too. Maybe some slight nausea - but that also comes with anxiety for me and I have a lot going on right now...

Rants/raves/questions: I was more excited with our first pregnancy (that ended in a MC) than with this one - and part of it is the MC but part of it is that life is crazy and I feel like I don't have time to just sit and enjoy it.

    1. 7 weeks 4 days.  I'm measuring a bit behind but my midwife wants to stick with this EDD so here I am.

    2.  Nothing new.  I'd say my nausea, though still present most of the time, is not quite as severe as last week.  It's also more concentrated in the morning than it was before.  My exhaustion, however, continues to get worse.  It's tough to get everything done, and I feel like I need to plan each day as if it is 18 hours instead of 24.  I was on my feet all day Saturday for a bridal shower, and I was really suffering by the end.  Cramps (not period-like), nausea, etc. all got worse.  I really need to work on relaxing more, but it's hard when most still don't know I'm PG and expect my previous activity level.

    3.  See above!

I was the first few times, but once I got over the "hump" (ha!  I'm hilarious) I was able to relax and now I don't worry anymore.  We do keep it pretty gentle just to be safe.  Frequently I'm just not feeling up to it.
  • @carribeanmama I hope your spotting goes away and you feel more confident soon! I am also sorry about your nanny situation.

Developed dizziness mid week last week and it is always there in the mornings. Then has crept up in increasing amounts throughout each day. Constipation also blows.

    2.  Any new symptoms this week? I'm really exhausted by the end of the day. I'm still running daily and am a SAHM to 3 young kiddos so I'm really physically active all.day.long. I'm also starving constantly and have just a tiny bit of nausea.

    3.  Rants/Raves/Questions? i really can't complain! I know it's too early to have major symptoms. I'm also having a hard time really *believing* that I'm pregnant, and won't stop questioning/worrying until I see the heartbeat @ my first appointment.
  • 1.  How far along are you?  5w3d

    2.  Any new symptoms this week? The nausea bumped up a notch on Sunday, but is still just nausea. I guess the stabby pain in my side is new since last week's thread, but after going to the ER out of an abundance of caution - I'm pretty sure it's gas settling in one of the sensitive spots in my colon. Yay.

    3.  Rants/Raves/Questions? I'm not anywhere near as terrified as I was last week. I still have bouts of anxiety and check every time I go to the bathroom for blood - but in between I'm feeling pretty good and peaceful.
  • @paigeed Awwww thanks!  :)  I'm so jealous of the moms that can stay home fulltime with baby (I've been working from home but that's about to expire).

About hair coloring,  I know some women hold off on chemical treatments until after baby.  I personally don't do keratin treatments (for example) while pregnant or nursing but those may be less safe than coloring.
  • 1. 6w today

    2. The nausea is here all day. It's started creeping in the past few days for a few hours at a time but it's full throttle now. Food aversions are new too. I have been eating fine so far but all of a sudden, nothing sounds good. Especially some things like chicken.

    3. Even though the symptoms are getting worse, I'm happy about it. It means things are going as they are supposed to, which is great!
  • 1. 5 weeks 6 days

    2. The nausea really started to ramp up yesterday. I'm still not throwing up, but the urge to is much stronger.  It's getting really bad at night, but I'm finding lemon ginger tea seems to help a bit. I've also developed a strong aversion to meat. I'm trying to compensate by eating more eggs than I usually do, but I know from my last Whole 30 that's going to get old pretty quick. And I want ALL THE CARBS!

    3. My husband has been extra awesome since we got our BFP. Lots of extra back rubs, he's helping out more around the house, and

  • 1.  5 weeks, 4 days

    2.  I'm absolutely miserable. Near constant nausea, nasty sinus infection and headache, so so tired.

    3.  I don't remember being this badly off with my first two. Isn't it too early for this? Is this what the whole pregnancy is going to be like? WHY GOD WHY.

  • 1. 6 weeks 6 days
    2. On and off food aversions, fatigue, frequent peeing! Slight constipation. Heartburn. I feel lucky things aren't worse and I really hope they don't get much worse.

    3. Rant- everything I typed just erased when I dropped my phone! Also, I can't wait until I am done or at least further done. I have to experience all this stuff but it isn't exactly my experience, it feels kind of strange, and good at the same time. I dread having to tell anyone but I will because all of my neighbours are incredibly nosy and will question me, especially if I  don't have a baby at the end. I find it frustrating that so many people have the wrong idea about surrogacy. (And gestational surrogacy which is what I am doing-not my egg, not my baby. And no, I don't receive money-it is illegal to be paid for this in this country)

  • 1. 4 weeks 6 days today
    2. Woke up with nausea today. It was slightly alleviated when I convinced myself to bite the bullet and eat something. Also super hormonal. From laughing to crying to laughing because I don't know why I'm crying to crying because I think I'm losing it. I'm hella crazy. And my DDs no longer fit any of my bras other than one sports bra and they hurt like the dickens.
    3. Rant- my Dr is driving me insane. He heard spotting, jumped right to "its ectopic, this is life threatening". When I ignored his advice to get straight to the ER, and instead got blood work done the next morning, he got all "are you a Dr?!" With me. So I went to er for my next betas on Thursday. Told Dr there my drs concerns and he literally laughed and said "why would your Dr even suggest that?!"
    Beta 1 (Tuesday) 136
    Beta 2 (Thursday) 451
    Beta 3 (Saturday) 1170
so logically, everything seems ok I think. I don't even want to ask my drs opinion because who knows what crazy he will spew. Counting down the days until I'm officially with my midwives July 5th so I know I'm getting experienced, sensible care.

    2. I have to eat like every two hours to keep the nausea at bay. No real food aversions yet, and I can still play softball so that's good. Sooo tired.

    3. So happy to be a SAHM so I can take naps. I was looking forward to going back to work when my DD goes to kindergarten. Trying to decide if I will work with this baby or stay home longer. This baby is a surprise, so stressing out about changes! Also just gave most of my baby stuff away, so starting over a bit! Happy problem to have I guess. :)
  • 1. How far along are you? No idea- long story- probably around 6weeks

    2. Everything tastes really weird to me and it's very annoying when I'm hungry and when I go to eat something, it tastes gross

    3. That I still have no idea how far along I am and that everything tastes gross
  • 1.  How far along are you? 5+2

    2.  Any new symptoms this week? Hello, dysgeusia! I woke up this morning feeling like I had a mouth full of pennies.

    3.  Rants/Raves/Questions? I had some pretty bad nausea in the first week or so after my BFP, but it's settled down a lot over the last couple of days. I'm wondering if anyone who's a little ahead of me can help me speculate as to how that might play out for me. I know every pregnancy is different, but I'd be interested in some anecdata. Anyone have nausea very early on, only to have it taped off right away? And if so, did it come back?

I'd say mine was on for Week 5, blinked on and off for Week 6, and has been back with a vengeance for Week 7. The severity of it has been pretty stable though, so hoping it isn't going to get truly extreme for me.

  • 1.  How far along are you? 5+3 or 4

    2.  Any new symptoms this week? So much exhaustion. I seriously considered calling in sick just to sleep. The literal only thing that kept me going is that I need to save whatever time I have for if MS hits.

Also, the bloating and digestive issues are insane. I don't think I ever truly understood bloat until this week. My stomach is actually visibly protruding and I'm the gassiest human on the planet. It's terrible.

I also heaved for the first time last night. Thank God MS seems very sporadic still at this point, and hopefully it stays that way.

    3.  Rants/Raves/Questions? Still spotting off and on, and it's like a roller coaster of emotions... I think it stopped! Oh my God it's back and worse. NO, phew, slowed down again... and repeat. I can go like 8-12 hours of nothing, then it starts back up. Anyone have any happy stories of long term spotting that turned out ok? It's been a week now and I just don't feel like that is a good thing.
Rainbow baby Dean is due 2/17/17!
  • @MrsDramaK I have the sore abdomen thing, too. I think it's just gas/bloat related.

Rainbow baby Dean is due 2/17/17!
  • @WinchesterGirl so sorry you're dealing with the spotting.  That sounds so frustrating.  Once you have your US I wonder if they'll find a subchorionic hematoma.  I have what they are calling a very small one, and I have spotted twice about a week apart.  If that is what it is, my midwife said they usually resolve on their own and that though some recommend exercise restriction and pelvic rest, there's no research to show that it actually improves outcomes.  FX that it stops soon and gives you a mental break from the worry.
  • @Xstatic3333 thank you! I am hoping it is something that will resolve, but it is so scary.

    *** TW Previous Loss ***

Basically, with my loss last time, this is how it started. I started spotting brown, and it never stopped. It is very hard mentally to remind myself that it is not necessarily happening again - there are differences. It is lighter, with long periods of nothing throughout the day, and I'm not having any pains... but I feel like I'm reliving it over again.
Rainbow baby Dean is due 2/17/17!
  • @carribeanmama I am sorry about you spotting. I hope it goes away soon. On the nanny front, I am thinking of getting one this time around. We have a dd who attends daycare 3 days a week. Part time rates are insane so I am thinking of seeing if we can find a nanny who doesn't want to work a full week instead. We will see if I get lucky!

@grapeskittles4lyfe and @L Jane I also never feel pregnant til I see the little one on an ultrasound. My symptoms are very mild so I always think I tricked myself into seeing a line on the pregnancy test!

@WinchesterGirl fx your spotting stops for good. I am sorry you are dealing with that stress.

    2.  Any new symptoms this week? Nothing. Occasional very mild nausea, fatigue, and mostly just really thirsty all of the time.

    3.  Rants/Raves/Questions I am in Chicago for work and meeting some friends for dinner tonight. One of them knows I am pregnant but the other doesn't (we aren't all that close, mostly just get together whenever I am here for work). I am sure she will suspect something when I don't order a drink but I doubt she asks me about it! At least I hope not!

  • @WinchesterGirl - my doctor has told me stories of women who have spotted throughout and been fine. She's even had a few that spotted in a cyclical fashion and therefore didn't know they were pregnant for awhile (so the spotting must have been convincing).

    2. I have had a bit of cramping, dizziness, fatigue and sore boobs. Most of my symptoms are from the progesterone (Endometrin). Also since I did the embryo transfer my stomach has been extremely bloated and around my belly button feels kind of weird, hard almost. @mrsdramak I have the sore stomach too- it feels like I did an ab workout when I really haven't in weeks.
    3. Nothing really! I am going out of town this weekend to Palm Springs and the weather there is 111+. I am kind of frightened about the heat!

  • So this one was new last night and this morning. I've had a couple of sharp pains in my lower abs all on my right side, kind of feels like the cramps I used to get from running only it's quicker and sharper and then it's gone and I was just walking at the time. It happened 3 times last night and once this morning. No bleeding yet so I'm going to hold off on calling the doc. Hoping it's just gas pains...

@WinchesterGirl My cousin's cousin spotted for several months and didn't realize she was pregnant for a few months because of it. She had a healthy baby. Also I just read in What to Expect book that some women spot throughout pregnancy and are just fine. Sending positive thoughts your way!!

  • @marriedhamstermom that sounds like nice deep implantation happening! My doc described it as a cellular invasion of the uterine wall... sounds pleasant, no?
Thanks, I'm glad to hear they were healthy!
Rainbow baby Dean is due 2/17/17!
  • @marriedhamstermom that happened to me, too. My midwife said it was probably a cyst from when I ovulated.
  • Omg, I had TWO sex dreams last night.
Last time it didn't happen until later.
In fact, everything is hitting harder and sooner than it did with DD.
