Re: UO 6.16.16

  • I think "push presents" are stupid
My push present is a milkshake from the ice cream place down the street from the hospital. So I do not agree with your UO ;)

I don't like having Facebook messenger app on my phone (limits my storage space) so I get annoyed when people message me. Stop it. If I'm not by my laptop, that red "1" notification will not go away every time I check my FB on my phone. Stop messaging me on FB. I miss the days when you could directly access messages on your FB app. Why create two separate apps when messenger is on FB? Help me, logic gods because I am lost.
I log into fb on my phone through safari to check messages.

What is a push present? A present you get for pushing the baby out? If so, I'm making DH get me the largest deli sandwich he can find as soon as I give birth and I'm eating the whole thing. For some stupid reason I've been following the rule and not eating deli meat when it appears the current listeria threat is in frozen vegetables and snack foods.

    Too much effort...

I follow the deli meat rule but I have not been able to stay away from hotdogs this pregnancy, specifically Costco hotdogs. I want them all the time. I'm am also dreaming of a big 'ol deli sub post-delivery!

  • @justaudrey Are we not supposed to have hotdogs either? I've been really craving those too! I did cave a couple times.
  • @Alygohome I know someone who lies about breastfeeding, saying she did it ...but never did!!!
  • @JournoGrl23 it was on my "do not eat" list. My OB is pretty strict about that kind of stuff and, for the most part, I don't mind skipping it for nearly 10 mo but hotdogs are delicious. I think it's mostly about the nitrates. You can find low-nitrate/nitrate free options but I'm pretty sure that's not a Costco dog. lol

  • @justaudrey My doctor never gave me a do not eat list and never told me anything I shouldn't eat. I found a list of what not to eat on the internet. I thought that was odd! Avoiding nitrates makes sense. I think I'm going to add eating a hotdog to my list shortly after I eat the sub sandwich!
  • @Mfuller76 that's a good idea! Carbs aren't really my problem, it's sweets and I have the biggest sweet tooth ever. I know I won't be pushing so I won't get a push present but maybe I'll make DH get me a "surgery present". I'm going to send him to Krispy Kreme and get a dozen doughnuts.
  • @Mfuller76 also, when I asked at my appointment with the diabetes center they told me that the hospital would check my sugar and that I would be put on the "diabetes diet" after baby is born. I was super sad about that because I'm gonna be there at least 2 full days after baby.
  • @Mfuller76 someone in my informational class said that they had it with their last baby and once the baby was born they told her she could eat whatever. She said she had a burger, fries, and a milkshake and she checked her sugar and it was over 400 so they made her eat the diet after that.

While I don't want my sugar to shoot up to over 400, I hope they tell me it doesn't matter once LO is born.
  • A more truly UO... I'm hoping the hospital we're delivering at has a nursery where I can send baby at night and have him brought to me to be fed.  I love my baby, but can it be 2 decades ago where the night-nursery was the norm??
When we had DD the nurses were awesome. We kept her with us most of the time, but they told us "you won't get a break when you go home, so use the nursery as much as you need to now to rest up". We used the nursery the first night and most of the last night, and it was nice to get that time to "catch up" on sleep after labor and get a quick break before real life kicked in. I will feel no shame in using the nursery again this time!
  • I am unamused and think this is stupid. Why is this even viral worthy?

  • 1. Oxford comma all the way!
    2. Push presents aren't my thing, but I only think they're dumb when moms demand something extravagant or oddly specific.
    3. So far, I've had 2 very easy pregnancies with very little symptoms and I still hate being pregnant. This is my last baby and I'm thrilled that I won't be pregnant again.
    4. I think the cheerio thing is funny. Newborns are pretty boring,
  • @Bookhousegirl I remember how much we would sit with DD sleeping on us and then I start to feel bad for this baby because he just won't have that luxury lol. He will have to do a lot of swing/RnP sleeping, there's no way I could take care of DD and let him sleep on my lap all day.

@Lynnlove28, have you seen this new type of baby carrier? It may be a solution to holding your newborn and chasing your toddler...

I know the concept is the same as a Moby wrap or ring sling, but this one looks easier to use.

August is the most common birth month. So when people feel the need to put their two cents in, let them know. It should not be THAT big of a deal.
Is it really???  I wouldn't have guessed that.  I would have guessed April, I know soooo many people who have April babies.
