I love a hot sticky summer. I love living in florida. what I hate is the air conditioning on full blast so I end up carrying a sweater around in summertime just so I don't freeze to death inside. I don't think this board is negative. I find it commiserative and supportive but not negative. I don't have an UO today, unless you want me to start on gun control or rant about people blaming parents for child tragedies, which may or may not be unpopular, Idk. probably best not to open that door.

This. And That.
I live in South Texas, I've been in Texas for 20yrs and I lived in Mississippi for 15yrs before that. All of my family live in Georgia and North Carolina. I love a good hot summer and, honestly, this summer is mild compared to most!!
I know I should enjoy filling it out, but I don't. I skipped the first few months because we were having so much trouble just getting her to eat and now I keep putting the wrong things in the wrong months. I tried to fill it in a couple of months ago, but I was so sleep deprived that I kept messing it up and had to use White Out like it was my job. And on the flip side, I can't fill out the current month without tearing up. It's so bittersweet that she's growing up so fast. It makes me think about this little bean and how before I know it he/she will be crawling around. I'm continuing to fill it out, out of the guilt that she may one day be interested, but it is rough.

Omg yes. And I keep meaning to make marks somewhere for ds's height but... Effort. I gotta get more sentimental!
I never did a typical baby book. I posted monthly update on Facebook with a picture about important milestones and such. When she turned 1 I did a big shutterfly book and included the pictures and descriptions at the end. They were pretty long descriptions sometimes that included a fair amount of typical baby book stuff.
Now I'm worried I won't keep it up for kid 2. I'm kid 2 in my family and I got 1 week of baby book filled out before my mom couldn't keep up. So I'm gonna try. We shall see....I already don't do bump pictures like I did last time. Poor second kid!
Thank you cards. I hate writing them, or more accurately I hate not writing them and then feeling guilty for months about it. I wish everyone would just take my word for it when I say "thank you" when I first receive the gift. I've made a pact with most of my girlfriends to not give each other thank you cards.
I think the biggest reason I hate them is because I have never once received a thank you card from a man. Wives and moms are expected to be thoughtful and organized but not their husbands. When men start writing thank you cards I'll get off my lazy ass and do them:)
@aframe77 YES. I wish we all could just make a pact, like, everyone in the world. It took me months to write my friggin wedding thank-you's. You just reminded me of the next round I'm going to have to do with this babe and whatever showers happen!

Ditto on the southern summer hatred. I normally love my GA summers but I've also never been pregnant before either. I'm so hot, my sweat is sweating. And it's only mid-June.
My UO is when parents bring their very newborn baby into a massive crowd (i.e. A sports arena, movie theater, amusement park, etc). Is that really necessary? Does your 2 week old REALLY need to accompany you to see this baseball game? It's freakin' hot, there's wayyyy too many people around...why risk all of that exposure?

Its easier to feed if you are nursing, most of the time mom wont go without baby, and babysitters for infants are difficult to find.
Plus at that stage babies sleep through everything so they are super easy to cart around.

I'd much rather take a newborn than my almost two year old to any event
Def. But then you're gonna have a 2.5 year old and a newborn. I'll have an almost 2 year old and a newborn.
Dear big events, we've had fun in the past but I won't be seeing you for a few years. It's just not worth it anymore. I'll miss you. I already miss you. Love, SBF
Someone get me out of the house... and I mean to somewhere other than the library...

Ah yeah. When #2 arrives it'll probably be a long time before we have any mom and toddler and baby outings. The thought of two of them against one of me is terrifying haha!
