Anyone want to share what they've bought/plan on buying for baby bedding? I swear I've ordered so many fabric swatches it's confusing me even more what direction I want to go in. I haven't seen much bedding in the nursery thread, and I'm needing serious inspiration! And I'll just live vicariously through those of you planning little girls' nurseries.
Re: Baby Bedding?
This is what I bought. The quality was way better than I expected and I received it within 5 days of placing the order! I was very pleased.
We are going to let our daughter pick out some art/ pictures for the walls and reuse her neutral colored sheets (greens, animals ect)

A simple crib sheet over a mattress protector (MUST HAVE materess protector, it will save so much cleaning and wreaking a good matress after the first poop explosion, or stomach flu) one blanket and that was all I used. I used sleep sacks after we were done swaddling. I have half a dozen thick warm blankets, and sleep sacks of all sizes up to size 2t.
You honestly need very very little stuff, and since the crib bumpers aren't even recommended unless their breathable I didn't even use those either.
And yes to what @klv said - a fitted sheet is the only thing you should have in the crib with a newborn. BUT if you have a convertible crib, you could probably use the whole set (minus the bumpers) when your child is older (I think around 2 or when you convert the crib to a toddler bed). We only bought sheets with our first and we'll probably just use those with the second.
Edited for spelling.
So what you choose now (trains, nautical, pooh ect) may not be what your kiddo is interested in in 2-3 years from now

So, those of you just doing crib sheets, do you not do a crib skirt? I don't have my crib yet, but we did a skirt with dd's bedding, I can't remember what it looks like without.
And we'll be doing sleep sacks again with this kiddo! I think dd was in them until at least 2, until she grew out of the XL size.

All I will be buying is:
waterproof mattress protector
2-3 sheets in various colors matching the theme
and a coordinating crib skirt if I can find it
Swaddle blankets
sleep sacks
Crib sheet
Waterproof pad (we always layered pad, sheet, pad, sheet, that way if there was a blow-out or spit-up at night we could just remove a layer)
Breathable bumper
Swaddle or sleep sack for warmth
Waste of money:
Blankets, comforters, pillows, non-breathable bumpers
Optional: Crib skirt (we skipped this)

This is what I went with for baby boy #2, I got most of it on clearance at babies r us and the rest on Amazon. It's much softer than I expected.
This one, I'm not even going to bother putting up a crib right away. Registered for some super cute sheets, and am going to reuse DD's nursery pictures on the wall (one of Rainbow Fish, one of some bears that used to hang in MY room when I was little, etc...). People gift so many blankets and stuff anyway, I just say go with a color scheme and be done with it, save yourself and money and the hassle.
