Jack falls asleep so easily in the carrier. I have a Beco Gemini which I love. I have an ergo for when he's older but the Beco is great for newborns. We've gone on 10km hikes as well as strolls down the street with it on and he usually falls asleep within 5 min and stays asleep until I take him out.
Thinking of books I have loved, there are a few that I have used with DS that I absolutely love that tends towards attachment parenting methods-- and brain science backs up the strategies: The Whole Brained Child and No Drama Discipline, both by Dr. Dan Siegel. The Whole Brained Child has a great section in the begonning about thia crazy sleep deprivation/hormone shift time and its impact on us too, and how to reasonably support the family. The writing is scientific, but also backed with illustrative anecdotes and not too jargon-heavy. They're good reads!
