My daughter's favorite is the silicone spout nuk sippy cup with handles. She also has a munchkin one that she does okay with. I bought her a playtex one but the spout seemd too short for her to drink from it properly.
I ended up buying nuk and playtex for daycare to try out today. I would have purchased all nuk but BRU only had two left. Heading to target tonight to see what they have. I probably will not buy anymore playtex cups now. Thanks!
We have had great luck with the Zolibot weighted straw cup! Baby was EBF (with the occasional bottle) and caught on right away! Now he can pretty much use any cup with a straw!
A tip for the Nuk cups-they sell replacement soft spouts online, so if the tip gets damaged, keep the cup! I also found an insulated stainless steel cup with handles (Eco Vessel) that uses the same silicone soft spout (actually is sold with Nuk brand spout).
I tried a straw with LO and he just wasn't getting it. I will keep trying at home and go easy on daycare staff!
@ForeverEverAfter Do the tips of the nuk get damaged easily? LO occasionally bites down but haven't seen damage yet. Hoping they are durable to teeth. Thanks for the tip.
@KristiSigma They are durable, but eventually ours did get a hole at the end. By then DD1 was fine with an open cup at home, so we switched to a Wow cup for daycare. We only had 2 Nuk cups, and used them for all BM from 8mo til 1.5, while I was working full time. So that's a lot of wear and tear! I didn't bother replacing them at the time, just packed them away, so I just got some new spouts for the cups and now this LO is using the same cups
I bought two wow cups to practice at home and I think he is getting the hang of them! I try to pick what daycare staff is familiar with so I went with nuk.
We use the munchkin 360 cup because it's the only one he took to. Starting in the next week or 2 we will start sending just the sippy to daycare because he is now refusing bottles but will drink his milk from a sippy.
@dmbfan46835 your son is so freaking adorable! I love seeing his pictures! Lady killer for sure.
DD will not go near a sippy cup yet. We had tommy tippee, then the recall happened literally two days after I started introducing one. The lids are all still sitting on my counter because please, who has time to go to the post office or wherever to mail them in right now? Not this guy.
Thanks @kristisigma and @blizmark!! That is so sweet! I think he is pretty cute too that tommee tippee recall freaks me out. I feel like all of these cups could have the same dang issue. I never feel like I get anything really clean enough.
Hmm my LO can't figure out the sippy cup yet. I think my DH spoiled him by pouring water sips in his mouth from DH cup. Haha Now he's mad the second it's in his mouth and not flowing. It's only been a few days so he will get it. Maybe it's our cup?!
LO prefers the Dr browns transitional sippy cup with handles. I keep offering a straw sippy because I want to transition him, but he hasn't gotten the hang of it yet. Right now we are just doing water in the cups because he still spills/drools a good amount and I don't want to waste BM or formula lol.
I bought the nuk with the handles. Daycare has removed the handles because LO prefers to just hold on to the cup. They think it is because he liked to hold onto his own bottle and was use to no handles. Go figure...
I have a few that I've been trying. The Munchkin 360, nuby transition, and nuk transition. He didn't do very good with the nuby' sand the 360's are a coin toss, but he's done really well with the nuk. He refuses to hold it, though! He can do it but I usually have to hold it for him.
