8+2 today and ms is literally going to be the death of me. I can't eat because I am not hungry at all, but I feel sick all day and even at night. I dread having to brush my teeth because that kicks off the dry heaving in the morning and then I feel miserable for the rest of the day with gagging and nausea throughout the day. I need to call the Dr. and see if they can rx anything for me because this sucks!
@TinaBelcher That was me yesterday. It was like the diclegis was doing nothing for me and I felt wretched all day. Literally went to lay down in the bathroom at work multiple times just to get through the day. Hope the day gets better for you.
I had my first appt today. Baby looks great! My midwife gave me diclegis and is ok with me taking it while nursing. Couldn't stand how non-functional phenergan made me. I've lost 5 pounds in 3 weeks. Hoping, like you all, nausea is kept at bay this week.
@TinaBelcher I'm probably late to the party but have you tried the gummy prenatal?
Today I've started feeling MS. Had it horrible with my first pregnancy. So at lunch while I'm trying to eat, my coworker opens up canned chicken and crackers *barf*. Then the attorneys come back with their carry out meals. One bought an egg salad sandwich and the other tuna salad. *double barf*. It was all I could do not to tell them and not puke.
RANT: So for some ungodly reason, all these people have come out of the wood work telling me that they had morning sickness for their entire pregnancy. Not only is this the LAST THING on earth that I want to hear, but WHY would you AS A NURSE even think that's a good idea to tell someone who is completely miserable, in for her THIRD IV for dehydration? The only thing letting me hold it together is counting down the days until 2nd tri. I have started just looking people dead in the eye and saying "I will die if that happens." *sigh* Okay. Rant over.
::hugs:: @BAJDesigns I cannot believe the stupid, terrible things some people so gleefully tell pregnant women! I have everything crossed that we'll all be clear of this by second tri!
So even though I'm terribly sorry all you ladies feel miserable, it brings me comfort knowing I'm not alone. Mine started...4?5? ....days ago. I haven't thrown up, but the nausea is debilitating, and having a toddler while dealing with it is so so so so so hard. My poor house is so dirty, I can't get anything done. With my dd, I just had very mild nausea at night, nothing severe. I was able to go to work and function just fine. I'm SO GLAD I don't work because I wouldn't be able to do it. I honestly don't know how you ladies who have jobs, handle this on top of having to work. Ya'll are super heros.
@BAJDesigns That's awful. The icing on the cherry is when they say stuff like that and then try to end the thought all short and sweet like, "Well hope I didn't freak you out. Hope it doesn't happen to you!" And on the flip side, when people whimsically tell you that "morning sickness doesn't run in my family so I guess I just lucked out lol" I know it's a gross exaggeration but that's like walking up to an amputee and being like, "I have all my appendages, lucky me lol" or with the former, "Oh you have a headache? Well I know someone who also had a headache and it turns out they had brain cancer"

Has anyone gotten a subconjunctival hemorrhage from morning sickness? I guess I strained too hard with my face or something while throwing up and only just noticed it this evening... red spot right near my iris. I leave the bathroom and am like, "I've never had a blood vessel in my eye pop before..." and OH was like, "You mean that one by the blue in your eye?" I guess it's been there for a few days. No idea how to prevent it or at least prevent it from getting worse... sometimes the puking is that intense
I am at about 9 weeks, and I've been struggling with morning sickness for the past 3 weeks. It's been mostly nausea (which occurs all day) and a bit of vomiting here and there. Do you guys think it is worse to be nauseous in the summer months? I think the heat (and going into a stuffy room) makes it worse.
I have to carry around paper towels and a plastic bag because I either have to gag or throw-up when I am on the subway or bus; some of the maternity clothes don't have pockets, but for my first pregnancy, those pockets were essential to keep the paper towels in. As for foods, I've tried the usual things (ginger, ginger-ale, seabands, etc.), but not much works. I have found that some foods produce gas, which makes my nausea worse until I can burp it out. I try to eat small saltines throughout the day when my stomach hurts. Also, hunger makes the nausea worse. I eat small meals and give it some time to digest so that I can try to figure out what makes it worse (or better). I just wanted to share my struggles with morning sickness, and reading these boards has made me feel that I am not alone.
Hi Everyone. I'm new to Bump. I'm so sorry everyone is feeling this way, but ahhhhhhh I'm so happy that I'm not all by my lonesome. I'm about 9 weeks and a few days and I'm feeling like my m/s is at it's peak. It's allllll day. Smells make it so much worse. Garlic and anything with onion is the worst smelling thing ever to me currently. I'm hungry, but nothing likes to stay down. Cold food or dry food was working, but the last couple days have been AWFUL. I threw out the garlic and onions in my house, but I still smell them. I swear! ! Ice cream and Popsicles have been my best friends through this!
@babyB2017 I did that too! At about 6 weeks I swore I could smell the garlic and onions across the house! I threw them all out. And last week, somehow red onions (that I didn't order) got mixed into my grocery delivery and as soon as the bags were on the counter I was like "Where are the onions!? Take them awayyyyyyyy."
We never had it before. But the MS made it a necessity! I cannot step foot in a grocery store without a barf bag and after a few times I said "The heck with this!"
So I finally gave in to tablets after a trip to the hospital. The meds they have give in the UK seem to be different to the ones in the States. I must admit though they are at least helping me get some fluids in. Very very slowly but that's better than it was. Swallowing my own saliva was making me throw up. All I can say is don't try and brave it out. There is stuff that can help. It may not fix it completely but it may give you just a bit of respite and make you able to cope. I was feeling bad because I felt like I should be able to cope. But i've been breaking for a month.
I really haven't vomited, yet, but not for my lack of trying. Lol. The urge is so strong to vomit, but when I run to the toilet nothing comes up, but I will be fiercely dry heaving for 15 minutes. After I eat is the worst! Smells bother me so much more, after eating. And then I feel like I have motion sickness all day. I was on diclegis before I got pregnant because of the side effects from the Clomid would make me throw up, and extremely nauseous. My insurance refused to cover it, so I had to get free samples from my doctor's office. I'm not sure if i should take anything like B6 and Unisom, because technically, I am not throwing up, but i feel almost worse than if I did.
@themuffinman16 I don't throw up either. Lots of dry heaving. Nausea constantly. I wish I'd just throw up sometimes. With my first pregnancy I took Zofran because I would dry heave constantly.
The last two days have been miserable! I looked on another thread to see if anyone had miracle foods to help settle this stomach that won't stop flip flopping. I was pretty sick with my first but it was gradually increasing after week 6 and this one was all of a sudden out of nowhere and nothing is staying down--I'm 6w4d. And now with a highly active 3.5 yo this time around I can't just lay around. Only 6-8 more weeks, right? Lol
@BrennansMom2012 hey there!! I have exciting news for you! The other day I read that watermelon helps with MS. So H brought a huge one home and I've been eating it constantly. It doesn't make the nausea go away 100% but it helps. Or maybe it's a coincidence that my MS is calming down a little. But it's worth a try!!
I pulled this off Google: If you're pregnant, the benefits are even more delicious. Watermelon eases heartburn and reduces swelling; its high water content (92 percent) and fruit sugars can help alleviate morning sickness and dehydration; and the minerals it contains can help prevent third-trimester muscle cramps.
@Knottie1443924966 thank you so much! H went out and got me mashed potatoes and watermelon. I feel like that scene in Lady and the Tramp! Lol Went with the watermelon first and it's staying down and immediately has calmed my stomach! You are a lifesaver!!!
@jlea05 the grocery store is the worst! I was in the produce section last week and tried to get in and out. The smell of onions made me dry heave from about 40 feet away.
Also, I got IV hydration last week and it was magical. I still felt gross, but I was peeing and looked slightly less tired. If only water didn't have to go into my belly the rest of the time!
I am now 7 weeks pregnant, and throwing up, and dry heaving around the clock. Even the smallest smells will set me off, like the smell of mild cleaning products, that I used to enjoy. Today, I had to use a port-a-potty, to pee, and it just set me off for the rest of the day. I, now, wake up in the middle of the night to vomit. Good times.
My husband makes coffee in the mornings and the smell is just.... atrocious. But how can I sit here and tell him not to drink his morning coffee? Maybe he can switch to tea for a bit or something...
I'm finally getting some relief with Diclegis. I was skeptical because nothing else has eased the nausea and vomiting, but it's a miracle for me. I still feel nauseated several times a day, but I haven't thrown up since starting it and I can eat! I've heard that sometimes they can wear off and stop working. I'm hoping that's not the case.
This past week has gotten so much more intense. My toddler came into the bathroom this morning and held my hand while I hung my face over the waste basket. Then I started puking and she ran away crying and scared. I had to reassure her in between bouts. Torture. This is torture.
My morning sickness has turned into a total mindfuck at this point. One day the Zofran doesn't even come close to stopping the constant barfing, the next I'm feeling pretty good, am able to be active, then the next day starts out perfect and I end up throwing up all night... Wtffffffff
10w1d, the end is nigh (dear god I hope, pleasssssse help me out second tri!!)
@TinaBelcher I'm experiencing a similar roller coaster with diclegis. Some days I feel okay most of the day and other days I'm completely miserable all day.
@Salilast326 and @jlea05 MS is SO much harder with a toddler. I feel like a terrible mom to DS sometimes because I'm always running to the bathroom or laying on the couch/bed when we're home.
@underthesea Dr just put me on that today! Tonight is my first night and praying for relief. Nurse recommended Gatorade to get some fluid in me and so far it hasn't come back up! Can we talk about the creepy pic on the pill though? Or the countless warnings on the bottle not to drink alcohol...um, yea!
i'm midway through week 6 and its starting. i feel hungover in the morning and have such a hard time eating or drinking anything. if i do make myself eat some oatmeal i do eventually feel better after a few hours. thank goodness oatmeal still sounds appealing to me. it seems that nothing sounds good anymore. i used to cook and eat veggies non-stop oh well. side note, my I asked my SO to make me a green smoothie today. He does, and literally puts an entire raw egg into it (he had no idea that was bad), and i had no idea. I drank it, although it made me somewhat nauseous. i look into the garbage later and see the egg shell and that's when i knew. i felt even sicker and literally nearly cried. so angry. never, even not pregnant, would i eat a raw egg. omg gross (I can't even have poached eggs, ugh gross).
You definitely aren't alone. I starred getting sick last week and it was constant, from the time I woke up till I went to bed.. well last week it turned out I had the GI bug, but now I know it's morning sickness, which seems to last all day. I have to be at work at 6 am and it's constant running to the bathroom sick.. I still live at home with my parents until I move in with my Husband next month.. and it is getting hard to make up lies one why I'm sick all the time, since we both decided to wait till I was 12 weeks to tell anyone.. any home remedies I could try that yall can think of?
So my M/S has gotten to the point of just constant queasiness, the only time I get relief is briefly after I eat something. Not just anything, it has to be something appealing AT THAT TIME. So every day is an adventure with food.... But no more coffee, even the smell of it is nasty, and I'm usually a HUGE coffee drinker.
Yesterday, I took one pill of diclegis in the afternoon. I wasn't sure if it worked, because I still experienced nausea on and off throughout the afternoon and evening. I did get drowsy and took a short nap. So I am really not sure if the diclegis has any effect on me. Has anyone else experienced this with diclegis?
I find the diclegis is most effective if I take two every night around the same time. It's a med that takes time to build up in order to have a consistent result (according to my midwife).
