I can't remember if I confessed this here or on another board but I'm addicted to Dr. Pimple Popper on YouTube. It's so gross but something about watching her pop pimples and dig out black heads is so satisfying.

@MRSCORKER you had, and now I want to throw up again thanks to the reminder @bamacoop I do share your feelings. It's really cool but it's also SO weird. Especially when he's really active, it's really distracting haha I don't know if it will start to feel more "normal" to me or just weirder the stronger it gets. Honestly, I also have to remind myself that it's an actual baby in there moving around. Otherwise it just feels like a weird muscle twitch or something and I kind've ignore it.
I hate baby shower games (minus bingo) just sit, eat, and chat. stop making me drink from a bottle or DO NOT measure my fat ass.
This! My mom is throwing mine and I told her, coed cookout, no opening gifts in front of everyone and NO SHOWER GAMES!
So.... what are you gonna do at the shower then?
My preference is to get together with family and friends for everyone to have fun and celebrate. I'm bored out of my mind at most showers I've been to and would rather just let everyone have fun. Of course, if someone wants to see me open their gift, I'm more than happy to.
So to be more specific, we'll probably end up having a big bbq for everyone with yard games and such. I'm excited about it
I remember not enjoying movement with DS much, either. I was in school at the time and trying to hide it and every time he'd kick it'd scare the crap out of me and I'd jump. Teacher probably thought I was nuts because I'd be taking notes quietly and all of a sudden I'd practically fall out of my chair for seemingly no reason. (I later came clean because clinicals were coming up and it would've potentially been an issue. Thankfully it wasn't an issue and she didn't care because she was a former L&D nurse, lol)
@bnsmith85 that's what I told my in-laws! Co-ed BBQ to just hang out, eat food and play yard games. MIL didn't seem too happy about that. I guess she wanted to do something super traditional but it was important to us that it be co-ed. Half of this baby is DH's and he deserves to be there and have his friends celebrate too. She'll probably have some traditional games too knowing her. We will be opening gifts though, it's something that everyone expects and important for the gift giver I think. As much as I don't like all the attention/pressure, it won't be too bad with DH there too!
@LGW2015 ...Based on others' responses here I think I'm definitely in the minority regarding the gift opening thing.... But I don't care if someone opens their gift in front of me, as long as they're happy. Also, the gift opening section of showers is the part I dislike the most as a guest. We're expecting a pretty large group and if it's anything like my bridal shower, the gift opening will take a lifetime.
All of of this said, I'm not planning my shower... Just gave my opinion about what I prefer so we'll see what my mom and friend end up planning
I absolutely LOVE opening gifts at my shower. I love getting gifts. I love stuff. I love putting stuff on my registry and watching it get bought and getting it. And I try to show that love when I open gifts, by talking to my guests about why I chose that particular item or what it will be used for. I also write longer and more specific thank-you notes than I've ever gotten from anyone.
I don't mind watching people open gifts, but it's mostly waiting for them to get to mine with the occasional "what's in that odd-shaped box?" thrown in. At showers I've been to, there is always chatting when someone is opening gifts, so you have to listen for the collective Ooohs from the watchers if you want to catch the really good ones like grandma's home-sewn quilt.
@RainMira9e ... I also like writing really good/specific thank you notes. I always try to talk about why I'm excited for that particular item or when or how I plan to use it. I'm sure your guests really appreciate the time you put into yours too
I third the detailed thank you notes. People don't even expect them anymore, which is a shame, and they always comment how nice it was to get something thoughtful and sincere back.
My confession is that I really, really want a beer. Or a margarita (I'm not picky). I'm not a big drinker, but it's hot and work has been incredibly stressful, and sometimes I'd just like to come home and drink something alcoholic and relax.
There are quite a few work get-togethers coming up and they're all during happy hour at restaurant bars. I'd like to go and bond with my co-workers, but feel left out since they'll all be drinking and I can't.

Get a Shirley Temple... My preggo friend and I drank them at our work happy hour for that exact reason. For some reason it made both of us feel much better about not actually drinking
Virgin pina coladas/margs/daiquiris FTW this summer. I have to agree with Shirley Temples too though, yum! Anything icy and sweet to make the babies cha-cha too
I am obsessed with Criminal Minds and now whenever I watch it and there's children or someones kids involved, no matter the age, I cry. Like full on bawl my eyes out. Whenever my SO walks in on me i come up with some lame excuse. its embarrassing.

That was me with all of my pregnancies. And Law and Order SVU, I couldn't deal.
@AshleymnSo many feels this season in Criminal Minds! The one with Morgan and his dad really got me, I was a mess. @bnsmith85 yes! Shirley Temples are the BEST. I would drink them when not pregnant!
I have an addiction to buying clothes for this baby. Everyone keeps telling me to cool it because I am having a baby shower in August. But I just can't stop. I spent waaaay too much this week on two Rags to Raches rompers, but they're just so cute! Ahh, does anyone else have a similar baby clothes buying obsession?
@kamroberts yes! I try to remind myself that people will probably buy clothes but I always loved buying clothes for the babies (or, parents really) in my family so it's hard to stop especially now that it's for my own! I try to satisfy the urge while sticking to pretty inexpensive clearance stuff for now...baby gap/old navy and stores like that have good clearance finds here and there
I get really pissed off if you don't open my shower gift in front of me. If I'm spending time and money to celebrate your impending motherhood, I at least want to ooh and aaah over cute baby stuff.
I also get pissed off if you tell me what kind of stuff to give you (diapers, books instead of a card, etc), or if you tell me how to wrap (or not wrap) it.
And not sending a thank you note is, barring a major health crisis, inexcusable.
What ever happened to gracefully accepting a gift that people want to give you, instead of placing a huge burden on them to fulfill every little wish but not bothering to acknowledge their time, effort and care?
GOD THANK YOU. I agree with all of this. Where did the politesse go?
@kamroberts - Same. I went out shopping for her nursery decor yesterday and came home with over 10 outfits. Carter's had a really good sale. It would be a shame not to take advantage of it!!
@CopperBoom86 I love Carters & their sales! I also got a few things from them last week. Carters, Old Navy, H&M, and baby Gap have been my favorite stores to shop at so far! Ahhh so many cute things!

Thank you for the gift. We use it every day. Jane and John
(We sent them an ice cream maker. Pretty sure they're not using it every day. But hey, at least we got a thank you!)
