Re: Symptoms Thread

  • @AliKay20 @Car0liiine same! I get exhausted from any basic physical activity. We went walking around the Archives in DC and I literally felt like I ran a marathon. I've also am severely cursing buying a two story house currently   :s

Recently, I've been feeling just outside my body or like i don't own it right now with being so pregnant. I have naturally curly hair also, but right now it's like tight frizzy spiral curls that I can't stand. Overall, feeling ssupppeerrr sexy.

  • TMI but almost at 32 wks, I had some milky(?) discharge today with a few specks of brown blood (literally the size of a dot you see here: •)

I wasn't concerned because they were so small and nothing was on the toilet paper.

Now I'm just having slight cramps but they're not painful.

I walked around a lot yesterday in the heat so I feel pretty beat up today but I'm hoping this is normal. Laying down on my left side but baby keeps kicking me telling me I'm squishing her. Just hope I don't go into early labor. I can take all 8 remaining weeks to get things in order because I haven't done anything to finish the nursery. I avoid nursery thread right now because I'll feel anxious, ha!

I'm right there with you on avoiding the nursery thred because of anxiety!  I just keep scrolling past it. Haha
  • I have this boob/rib numbness too and it is so annoying and uncomfortable
  • She has been kicking me so low lately. It's kind of painful and feels really weird. I want the little hits on the top of my bump back!
  • @mmariahmm, I have the same curly hair gone to frizz thing going on too. I'm anticipating it to get worse with the summer humidity. Super annoying!!

Anyone else getting a really random bitter taste in their mouth?  It's metallic, but doesn't taste coppery like blood does. I hate it!  I don't know how to get rid of it!

Yes - constantly.  To me, it is like a weird metallic soapy taste.  I cannot stand it.  And I have no solutions either.  It is driving me crazy!!

Well, hello cankles.  Anyone else dealing with swollen feet and ankles?  I never had that issue with my first pregnancy, but my son was born in December.  I didn't have any swelling this time around, either, until this past weekend.  It has been relatively hot and humid for this time of year since Friday and my ankles/feet seem like they have exploded.  None of my shoes fit anymore, and I can't seem to control the swelling.  Elevation and ice don't help at all.  I know it is a normal pregnancy symptom, but it is starting to freak me out.  I had my mom (a nurse) check my blood pressure, and it was fine.

  • I'm waking up with a migrane every morning these days. I feel pressure on my right eye that goes to the back of my neck. Whaaaaat the heck!!

I've had several migraines lately, but not every day.  Tylenol and caffeine (at my OB's recommendation) seem to help.  Hope you find some relief soon!

  • Pregnancy insomnia has hit. From about 3-5 a.m. every night I can't go back to sleep. Yay! ::eyeroll::
  • hello swollen feet. Never had that problem with my first two... i guess when they say every pregnancy is different, they were right.

  • Ugh, in addition to swollen feet, my feet have definitely gotten wider. I know because even at times when my feet aren't swelling, I can't fit into most of my shoes. I have mostly been wearing one pair, some flats that are made out of very stretchy, forgiving leather. They are the only pair other than flip flops that fit me now and I can tell they are getting ruined because my feet are so big. I am just hoping and praying my feet go back to normal after baby. I have a huge shoe collection and it would be a sad, sad thing to have to get rid of them. And I couldn't afford a bunch of new shoes, either!!

I've been struggling with this since week 6! It takes me two hours to fall back asleep too. Thankfully it's not every night but a couple times a week! So annoying!

@Nikkoli98Ugh I know! I'm in Virginia and the humidity has barely started and my hair already has a mind of its own. I feel like it's been forever since I've looked in a mirror and felt like myself.

I've had this from early on. At the beginning I could usually get back to sleep but now once I do finally fall back asleep I'm up again not long after to pee. And my noise sensitivity issues have gotten ridiculous. Our dogs are making me crazy at night with their licking. Why do they choose 3am to start scratching and licking?!?

  •  Anyone else having flushing or hot flashes? I have been ill and I am trying to sort out what is an illness symptom and what is pregnancy.

In the evening I get warm, my cheeks and chest flush red. Lasts about 15 or 20.minutes.
  • My arm is so sore from the TDAP! Also, leg cramps at night--pretty easily resolved by flexing my foot, but still--ouch. I also am not sure how much longer I am going to be able to get myself out of the tub ><

  • liljabee I have been getting flushed very easily! I should note that I am very fair skinned with a pink undertone, so I have gotten flushed pre-pregnancy, but it was only if I was being active or drinking. Now, I just randomly will get flushed in my cheeks and chest, as well as my ears feel hot. Lasts about 10 minutes

  • I am also in the hot flashes boat. I get them while I am sleeping though. I wake up all sorts of sweaty and hot in the morning or middle of the night. Then I usually can't get back to sleep. Ugh!

  • I haven't had hot flashes this time, yet, but with DS1 I totally did. From 34 weeks on, I would get them daily.

  • I dread the hot flashes, I feel like they are going to be 100 times worse in this summer heat.

@cait5413 My OB hasn't even mentioned the Tdap to me yet and I keep forgetting to ask about it when I'm there, I would like to go ahead and get it so baby gets plenty.
  • Ugh I get hot flashes too! It always happens just as I get to work since it's hot out in the parking lot and then again in the middle of the night when I'm trying to sleep. My poor DH is being frozen out and our power bill is a lot higher than usual. But I always feel so hot!

@cait5413 my arm hurt last week after I got the TDAP too! And I felt a little headachy and feverish afterward for a couple hours too, but that always happens to me after vaccines.

I just switched docs, and mentioned to them I hadn't gotten it yet (I'm 31 weeks), and they asked me if I wanted it. I was like, "of course!" My prior doc didn't act like it was optional, just told me I would get it. Also made DH go get one today.

  • 30 weeks and change and the feet swelling has begun here too. Ughhhhhh. I do wonder though, I've been taking iron supplements for about a week, and swelling held off until yesterday. I wonder if there's any correlation.
  • Swollen feet and ankles.  They hurt terribly when I workout.  Almost like my ankle mobility is gone.  Also getting hot flashes this week.  I was sweating at work today.  The most annoying symptom so far is not being able to sleep.  Tossing and turning and rarely feel like I get into a deep sleep.
  • Feeling a little concerned in that paranoid kind of way - I've had cramping ALL DAY today! It has been persistent, just this general cramped feeling from my lower back going forward. Uncomfortable! I wouldn't call it pain, just not enjoyable... dull, achy.
  • @acpear11 I would give your doctor a call, they may want you to come in. I've always read that lower back pain/cramping isn't anything to mess around with when you're pregnant.

  • If you've been having foot/ankle swelling like me, and you've heard to avoid salt, take that advice seriously! I don't have a lot of salt in my diet, but yesterday the whole office was ordering Tokyo Joe's (a fast-casual Japanese chain). I kind of threw caution to the wind and ate a chicken teriyaki bowl, and holy cow. My feet and ankles puffed up like cooked sausages within an hour. I felt like my shoes were going to rip. I had no idea the effect of the salt would be that direct or that fast! I thought it was more of a cumulative thing, reflective of your overall diet, but just that one meal did it!
  • ...it was gas.  :#
  • @Snaps816 this is true! I went for sushi with a girlfriend (just a veggie roll for me, I was in it for the soy sauce, if I'm being honest), and by the end of dinner my feet were swollen! So sexy!
  • I've had ankle (now cankles) and feet swelling on and off since week 18 but now, it doesn't go away and the only shoes that fit me are flip flops. I also get this terrible upper back pain when sitting a certain way in chairs, the car, etc and Tylenol does nothing for the pain.
  • What do you guys eat when the heartburn is bad? I've had it since 10 am this morning and can't think of anything that won't make it worse. I probably need to eat something besides cereal because that is all I've had today.

  • @LWC1112  I know a lot of people suggest that milk relieves heartburn, but although it temporarily coats things and that might feel good, it actually stimulates your stomach to produce more acid. So I would avoid too much milk, fatty foods and although we are supposed to be drinking a lot try to spread it out because anything that fills up your tummy makes it easier for that acid to splash back up into your throat.

I've read that it's nothing to worry about, but has anyone else not had a single BH contraction? I know they can be hard to detect but I haven't once had any tightening or anything. At  almost 32 weeks I'm hoping that doesn't mean my body is not gonna do what it's supposed to during labor. :/

Also have a question about baby movement. It had definitely been significantly less the past couple weeks than it was for the few weeks before. I try to do kick counts but it always says to do it during a time when baby is usually active. Well my LO has no schedule as far as I can tell. It's just a random wiggle here then maybe an hour later another bump, a couple hours with nothing, then several movements for a 30 minute period. It's made it almost impossible for me to judge if I'm having decreased movement or not and I'm trying not to be paranoid, but I don't want to be neglectful either.

  • @LWC1112 I've noticed I start getting heart burn really bad when I go too long without eating. I try to eat my meals and have some kind of snack in between to help it and if it won't go away I drink milk although PP makes a good point about it. Sometimes I need the instant relief.

@Car0liiine I had tons of Braxton hicks with DD and my body did not want to go into labor. I was induced and ended up with a c section. I wouldn't worry about not having the Braxton hicks, actually consider yourself lucky. I just started having them within the past few days and I forgot how weird/uncomfortable they feel.
  • Has anyone else had extremely itchy skin? I think it's just really dry skin, but I itch constantly it feels like but it is really bad at night. Any reccomendations or experience?
  • @Car0liiine I still don't know if I've had BH so you're not alone. I've had odd pains here and there and every time I think I've had one, I read more about it and then think maybe not. I was also worried that I hadn't had them (or known for sure) yet. My OB told me it's too early to get them yet. I find that hard to believe since so many people get them earlier in pregnancy, but maybe some of us won't get them until really late?
  • @Car0liiine - with my dd I didn't have one single BH before my labor started on its own.  I also haven't had one this pregnancy either.  I did end up with a c-section but it wasn't due to my body not doing labor, it had to do with my dd being stuck in a bad position.  I went into labor on my own and earlier than most 1st timers.

@Lynnlove28 - I have had horribly itchy skin in the evenings.  I have had to coat my legs with lotion otherwise I can't fall asleep.  I don't usually use lotion but I've had to start using it several times a day or I go crazy itching.
