Re: UO Thursday (6/2)

  • I can do mayo on tomato and cheese sandwiches, but not much else that I can think of. I'm especially grossed out by mayo on cheesesteaks. Not sure what kind of person that makes me

  • Yesterday I went to Subway and told the guy, "you can't give me too much mayo". I freaking love it. Miracle whip is my jam too. Never had a mayo sandwich though. Today's a new day ;)

I love mayonnaise, but like PP said, only Duke's.

Anyone else tried a banana sandwich with mayo? I want one right now.

  • It's not that I necessarily think that animals are more important than people (although I think we give too much credit just for being a member of the species) but I find animals much more relatable than humans. I'm the one who watches a war movie and says "poor horsies!" while the men are getting blown up. Obviously that's fiction, but I think it works the same way with news stories which, let's face it, most people don't distinguish that well from fiction. I mean, my newsfeed is just as much Hodor as Harambe and I can't say I care more about one than the other on an emotional level just because one is reality.

  • @books&icecream Thank you! Sex versus gender is one of the biggest pet peeves I've experienced since telling people I'm pregnant.

Subway's mayo is a special kind of special though. When I was a kid I used to ask for extra, then take the meat off and scoop it up with my finger.

But I draw the line at Miracle Whip...GAG. Salad dressing is not mayo.
  • When I buy Mayo, for salad making purposes ALONE, it is Hellman's.

Another vote here for the glory of mayo, especially Duke's. As the daughter of a southern grandmother, that is the ONLY mayo we buy.  I'm also big on the aioli train. Black truffle aioli and parmesan fries? Mexican street corn? Potato wedges and Bearnaise (ok so not technically mayo but same principle of oil + egg = delicious)? Please and thank you.

ETA: I also love mustard. And I don't hate ketchup. I just have to have some kind of dressing/sauce for sandwiches and for dipping.

  • I will dip in anything without a mayo base. EXCEPT horseradish sauce because it's so
good and I pretend it's not mayo.
