Here's my old disclaimer. Check in will be on the second post!
1. This thread is for encouragement, solidarity and accountability, not to simply compare ourselves to others. This is why I would request that no one say their former and current weights, and only focus on the weight gained during pregnancy.
2. Everyone is different, and that is fine! Some people gained more, some less, but likely everyone is going to want to return to their former weight or better, whatever that may be.
3. This weight took 9 months to put on. It could take that much time or longer to lose it. Be kind to yourself! Our bodies are healing and nutrition is important, especially if you're breastfeeding! Stay healthy!
4. This is not a humble brag thread. If you are one of the lucky few that fit into your 00 skinny jeans hours after giving birth, that's awesome! This thread is not really for that purpose. Start your own bragging thread at your own peril
. However, even if you have no more weight to lose, but your body isn't quite back in place, feel free to participate in the exercise portion.
Re: June Postpartum Weight/Body Check In
2. If you've weighed post baby, how much of that do you still have left to lose?
3. What are your healthy eating strategies?
4. What is your ultimate exercise goal?
5. Any questions, comments, rants or raves?
2. If you've weighed post baby, how much of that do you still have left to lose? 13 lbs, but I was trying to lose some weight I gained post marriage when I got pregnant, so I'd like to lose close to 20 pounds.
3. What are your healthy eating strategies? Oh vey. I finally told my husband to quit buying triscuits and wheat thins. I was resorting to cereal in the morning with the new baby, but this week, I'm forcing myself to find a spare minute to make my normal eggs and English muffin breakfast. I'm not big on fast food or fried food, so that's no issue. My downfall is snacking, sweets, and wine. Fortunately, wine takes a lot of effort these days, and I never have more than a glass. Trying to stick to fast snacks like granola bars, fruit, and string cheese. Also trying to quit the all day grazing and make targeted/official snack times between meals.
4. What is your ultimate exercise goal? I want to get back into running and spin. I was running 6 miles three times a week along with weights, spin, and insanity.
5. Any questions, comments, rants or raves? I'm really nervous about how going back to work with a baby will affect my workout schedule. Also, breastfeeding once again makes something else seem more difficult than it should be. If I wear a sports bra, will my milk dry up? And it's hard enough to find time to pump and do other things. If they recommend to feed the baby before working out, how the heck am I supposed to do that? It's all up to my baby what happens post meal - will it be a melt down or a nap? I work from home and can use my lunch break to get on the treadmill, but I also planned to use it to take a shower and potentially naps. At this point, I'll need a 2.5 hour lunch break (HA!), and pre-maternity leave I was so busy, I was pretty much eating lunch at my desk. I am so afraid my workout routine will be difficult to maintain, and working out is my Prozac. If I don't do it, I get extremely depressed. Any STMs have advice on how to handle?
35 pounds
2. If you've weighed post baby, how much of that do you still have left to lose?
I am four pounds above pre-pregnancy weight but by no means am I in shape. I need to build muscle back and build up endurance.
3. What are your healthy eating strategies?
We cut out all added sugar which isn't that hard for me since I'm not a huge sugar person and we went back to paleo eating. I eat a large breakfast and smaller meals for lunch and dinner. I try to keep my macros at 40% carbs, 30% protein and 30% fat but when I start strength training again I'll switch to 40% protein, 30% carbs, 30% fat.
4. What is your ultimate exercise goal?
I want to be able to get back to CrossFit and heavy weight lifting eventually but I know I need to start very slow once I get the all clear. I also like to do the local Stroller Strides classes so I can workout while involving the kids.
5. Any questions, comments, rants or raves?
None
50(ish) pounds.
2. If you've weighed post baby, how much of that do you still have left to lose?
About 25 pounds to go.. But ideally would like to loose more as I gained some weight between wedding and pregnancy.
3. What are your healthy eating strategies?
dh has colitis so we both really need to buckle down and eat better. I've been cooking clean the last week or so, and plan on keeping it up with the occasional pasta meal thrown in. And we will still be having pizza Friday nights! I've been snacking on fruit instead of crap. I need to drink more water (drank soooo much during pregnancy and now barely having any). Also when I go back to work, I'll be doing weight watchers (free through work).
4. What is your ultimate exercise goal?
ahhhh I miss working out! We are joining a new gym once I'm cleared to work out and so excited about it! Our old gym didn't have classes so besides the gym I also belonged to a kickboxing studio and a yoga studio. So it will be nice to have just one membership with a TON of class options! And they have daycare too! Right now LO and I are taking daily walks (2-3 miles) but it's not cutting it. Looking forward to spin, kickboxing and power yoga again! I should be able to work out ever day in July, then once im back to work I hope to get to the gym at least three times a week (once during he week and both weekend days). Since they have daycare I'm hoping that helps me get there as much as possible.
5. Any questions, comments, rants or raves?
yeah, my rant is I feel fat!!
18 pounds
2. If you've weighed post baby, how much of that do you still have left to lose?
2 pounds
3. What are your healthy eating strategies?
Anything I can eat with one hand. I'm spending so much time breastfeeding that it's difficult to find time to eat "real" food, which sucks. DH is back at work this week so basically until he gets home it's string cheese, Luna bars, apples, peanut butter and pretzels. I bought a tumbler with a straw and lid which has been helpful in keeping me hydrated.
Today I snapped when DH came home from work and asked if he could go to the gym. I was trying to open my shitty tiny bag of pretzels while nursing for the third hour in a row and dropped some, which resulted in me then throwing the entire bag on the floor out of frustration (my first meltdown, obviously I'm hangry!) He was like uhhhhhhhhh, let me buy you another bag. To which I was like go to the gym I'm fine! He then spent the next ten minutes telling me how pretty I am, while I was like
4. What is your ultimate exercise goal?
Run a marathon within the year. At this point I'm just waiting to get the ok to get back to the gym to do anything. I've been walking with Jet, but am looking forward to actually getting back in shape and getting my endurance back up.
5. Any questions, comments, rants or raves?
Same as @missnc77 - STM+ how have sports bras/working out affected breastfeeding for you, if at all?
37 lbs
2. If you've weighed post baby, how much of that do you still have left to lose?
im aiming to lose about 17 more pounds (this will leave me higher than pre pregnancy weight still but is my preference)
3. What are your healthy eating strategies?
all the protein... I have a lot of very quick to grab proteins in my fridge. Unfortunately, I can't keep them right next to my nursing chair where I am basically all day long ..... So I'm eating crap while I'm sitting here
4. What is your ultimate exercise goal?
I just want to get back to horseback riding
5. Any questions, comments, rants or raves?
I cannot believe how thirsty I am ... She's sucking me dry.

1. How much weight did you gain in the pregnancy? 50lbs
2. If you've weighed post baby, how much of that do you still have left to lose? 28 lbs
3. What are your healthy eating strategies? Trying to snack healthy and meal planning. We aren't eating out or getting take out much at all.
4. What is your ultimate exercise goal?
I want to run a 5K in October. I'm going to try and start a couch to 5K app soon.
5. Any questions, comments, rants or raves? Just annoyed with how few clothes I own fit me. Wishing the weight loss could go faster, but I don't want to affect breastfeeding. The diet I did to lose weight right before pregnancy isn't compatible (intermittent fasting)
That said, I've lost 2 lbs in 3 weeks, so better than nothing!
I have about 20 lbs to go and averaging about 2 lbs every 3 weeks as well. I feel like I can see the difference in the mirror (slowly), but the pounds are coming off more slowly than they did with my first, and probably the most annoying thing is how the clothes are fitting these days. I'm not too worried about it, I'm just wondering how scary that bridesmaid dress is going to look at my sister's wedding in 2 weeks. Yikes!
As far as excercise, I've been trying to walk every day as my schedule permits, but it's challenging juggling a newborn and toddler, and some days it just doesn't happen.
2. If you've weighed post baby, how much of that do you still have left to lose? I have 21 lbs left to drop to get to my pre-pregnancy weight.
3. What are your healthy eating strategies? I don't really have a strategy at this point. I am really not craving junk food . . . to be honest I am not wanting to eat anything. I force myself to eat at this point to keep my milk coming. Also with a colicky, needy/clingy baby I don't have time to prep anything. MH started making dinner now most nights. I grab a raw fruit or veg for lunch and snacks. I try and find time to make oats for breakfast but that only happens about 2 or 3 days a week.
4. What is your ultimate exercise goal? My goal is to walk or do some 'baby and me' yoga 5 days a week but I can't find the time at the moment.
5. Any questions, comments, rants or raves? How is anyone finding time to work out? It seems like I am spending all of my time feeding Lucine, trying to get her to sleep or sleeping while she is asleep. My days are starting to run together at this point. When I am trying to calm Lucy I try and do some quick squats while holding her or I lift her up several times . . . It seems like the only kind of workout I can manage to get in these days.
About 50 lbs
2. If you've weighed post baby, how much of that do you still have left to lose?
I weighed this morning and I have 23lbs left to lose, but ideally, I'd like to lose maybe another 40. No time limit. Losing the 23 lbs before Labor Day is my first goal.
3. What are your healthy eating strategies?
I've been trying to eat better. MH makes it hard, but he also supports me by buying healthy foods. I'm trying to reduce my carb and sugar intake, drink more water, and in general eat less processed foods. I'm not really hungry so eating consistently is also something I need to work on.
4. What is your ultimate exercise goal?
I'd like to run a 10k sometime after the new year. I want to get back into spinning and running and start weightlifting.
5. Any questions, comments, rants or raves?
Same as everyone else, how do you find the time?? I start work at 8 AM (maybe a little later depending on the judge I get assigned to when I get back), and I get off around 4-6PM depending on how much work I have and if I've made prior plans for LO. I guess I could go during lunch, but how do you find the time? MH goes to work anywhere between 4-7 AM.
I do feel as if I'm slimming down, but I definitely need to tone and regain some muscle.
so true for me too! i have no muscle tone as well as the ligaments - my legs are jelly after hills
Mama to Three Girls:
Twins born March 2014 at 26 weeks due to preterm labor
and our 37weeker born May 9th, 2016!
Its so nice to hear that. She reminded me what my belly was like 3 weeks ago to try and keep me positive that my body is heading in the right direction, which was very much appreciated. She also told me the last couple of days I looked like a "yummy mummy"...mum's into bonus points for knowing how to boost my self esteem when I feel like shit. A girl never stops needing her mum
just wanted to share my small bit of positivity. I dont own scales so I'm not tracking the numbers, just how my clothes fit and how I feel. I have my PP checkup next week so I should be good to get back into some exercise next week (so excited but actually nervous too)
2. If you've weighed post baby, how much of that do you still have left to lose? None, but I still need to lose about 30 lbs to get to my wedding weight and that's my goal for maternity leave.
3. What are your healthy eating strategies? Right now I'm just trying to make sure I get enough for BF. I soon will start really watching what I eat and staying on a healthy track.
4. What is your ultimate exercise goal? Walk at least 3 miles (or an hour) every day. Work up from there and eventually start running.
5. Any questions, comments, rants or raves? Nothing this time around.
2. If you've weighed post baby, how much of that do you still have left to lose? About 18 but I'd like to lose about 25 and be more toned.
3. What are your healthy eating strategies? What always works for me and DH is going low carb. So once we get through the carbs currently in house (we currently have two frozen pasta bakes our neighbors so generously made for us) we will switch over. For now I'm not yet 2 weeks PP and don't want to mess up my milk supply either.
4. What is your ultimate exercise goal? Walk DS1 to/from summer camp, get back to jogging my old 3 mile route, some Zumba and/or Pilates on days when DS1 has summer camps. Just doing kegels and light ab exercises until I get to the doctor next week, which is all I feel ready for now anyway.
5. Any questions, comments, rants or raves?
Last time the last ten pounds stuck around until I was done BF. I'd like for that to not be the case this time (I didn't exercise a ton, just swam and walked, and ate whatever I wanted, so being more strict there might help).
17 pounds
2. If you've weighed post baby, how much of that do you still have left to lose?
Zero
3. What are your healthy eating strategies?
I don't really have one, I just try to eat similar to how I did before. That worked for me. Because of BFing and trying to get enough sleep, most days I don't even get to breakfast until around lunch. I usually eat Greek yogurt or cereal with soy milk. Also, I love to snack on fruits and veggies or protein bars.
4. What is your ultimate exercise goal?
To get back to the gym five times a week. I know I probably won't be able to work out as long as I could before, but if I can at least get a run in and some weights I'll be happy. Exercise is my happy time. I need it. I plan to start walking a nearby trail next week to keep myself busy while DH is working. I have to wait for Doctor approval to start going back to the gym, so four weeks and six days.. Not like I'm counting down or anything.

Exercise wise - I Went on three long walks last week, and I think I'm going to try the elliptical at the gym this week.
My goal is to not buy sweets in bulk like I have been and get my husband on the fit train. He hasn't fallen off bad, he's still running but he will eat whatever I buy. We are better when we eat healthy together.
but of course I'd like to lose 18-20lbs!
Today marks 4 weeks post c-s, and 2 more weeks until my post-op visit. I've been walking and taking care of 3 youngsters. The walks are short (like 1 mile!), but I'm wearing LO is in a Moby and pushing a double stroller up/down hills. My goal for last week was 4 walks, and I did it!
We are all sick here
My best way to eat healthy is to meal plan: so this week we are eating Greek salads, homemade veggie/meat sauce over pasta (toddler-friendly) and spinach/feta waffles (my take on crepes - much easier and less time consuming on the waffle iron!). The waffles are DH's request - and it is his 30th Birthday today!
I am getting impatient to lose this belly! Please give me encouragement that I just need more time and to keep the faith! I know this is petty and that LO is totally worth it, but I'm slightly discouraged looking in the mirror!

thank you! I don't have a Bellefit, but I didn't need it last time...my body just looks so different this time!

Twins born March 2014 at 26 weeks due to preterm labor
and our 37weeker born May 9th, 2016!
2. If you've weighed post baby, how much of that do you still have left to lose? I've lost 16lbs so far....12lbs left to lose. But I'd like to lose WAY more than that!
3. What are your healthy eating strategies? I'm only 2w pp so I'm not cleared for exercise yet, but I have been walking (and chasing around my 2yo) and I just started drinking protein shakes again.
4. What is your ultimate exercise goal? I'm not sure what I want to do yet. I have T25 exercise videos...that might be more realistic than going to the gym. I love walking so I'm sure as the weeks go by ill be able to walk faster and for longer distances. Jogging eventually, too.
5. Any questions, comments, rants or raves? I know it's for a very good reason, but it's frustrating that I can't swim yet (can't for another 4 weeks). My parents & cousin have a pool and I'll have to sit on the side lines until then :-(
Mama to Three Girls:

2. About 17 pounds to go. Though I was overweight to begin with, so would like to lose much more than that.
3. Since baby was born - between her constant feedings and my c-section recovery - I haven't been eating much beyond 3 meals/day. I am the type to snack on junk food while bored, but no time to be bored lately!
4. I'd like to just go on daily walks, with DH, dog, and baby.
2. If you've weighed post baby, how much of that do you still have left to lose? I'm currently 7lbs from pre-pregnancy
3. What are your healthy eating strategies? I really don't have any, I've been trying to make healthier choices. Although, this sleep deprivation is making me crave sugar and sweets (which is very unlike me)
4. What is your ultimate exercise goal? To do crossfit again, and to run a spartan sprint next March and beat my last time.
5. Any questions, comments, rants or raves? Every time I have a meal, it is SO hard not to get some sort of dessert. I can see why most women gain their weight post partum and not during pregnancy. I'm eating terribly.
