Just a friendly reminder, I saw some people mention jogging with baby and it's usually recommended to wait until baby is at least 6 months, if not up to 12. DS1 had a huge head and I wasn't ready to take him until he was a year old. They bounce around a lot in there!
Our pediatrician is a runner as well and this is actually what she recommended. I have a BOB so the seat reclines to near flat so they can lay down and that helps some, but even given that she recommended 6 months at the very least and to use some sort of support for the head.

I've heard different recommendations when using the car seat with the BOB adaptor??

I have the adapter and I was told that it's not recommended bc it's extremely top heavy and has a high risk of tipping, but I do know some people who have done it. However, I did go for a walk today and I have to say idk how comfortable I'd be running with it. I guess if you were on completely flat surfaces with no bumps. We have a flat bike trail near us and that's where the people I know have gone. Going over bumps and stuff though I've had some trouble.
I did 1.25 mile row today, some barbell shoulder presses (35lbs was heavy) and went on the air dyne bike (um, I lasted 1.5 minutes before I was out of breath). Good slow start I suppose!!
I zipped up my pants today! Still can't even do significant housework without bleeding increasing, but still just over 2 weeks pp. Around 9-10 lbs above pre-pregnancy weight but I'm not worried about it since I'm not even exercising yet. Just started doing 10 knee push-ups and some planks a few times a day to start the long journey to building my strength back up.

That's awesome!! I haven't worn zipped pants since week 20

RE jogging: I jog embarrassingly slow. People power walk faster than I can jog, especially now! That's why I'm not worried about it. By the time I'm able to start building back up my speed, LO will be at the right age.
Edit: And he's in the car seat that attaches, not the stroller itself. Which I'm not worried about being too heavy, because again: Slowwwww

Yeah I feel like this too...I won't be doing it right away or anything (LO is only 2 weeks) but I do plan on taking them both jogging before the winter comes again for sure. I'll talk to the pedi about it too.
So my quads hurt after running about half a mile yesterday. Quads! I understanding hamstrings, but quads? My pre-pregnancy running self is laughing at me right now.

I am so jealous of everyone that's back to working out. I've been walking a couple of times a week, when I'm not visiting my mother in law/helping her with my cousin in law's baby shower. It's been nice at least doing that. I've been doing some leg exercises as well, but I am trying to take it easy so I can go back to working out right at 6 weeks, with doctor approval of course.
@Pascal86 I am back in zipped pants too! It's nice being in them and actually being comfortable. Wearing them when I was pregnant was so not comfortable.
Me: 31
DH: 29, SA - Great
Married: June 12,2011
TTC #1: 1/2014
Diagnosis: Hypothalamic Amenorrhea
Treatment: Clomid: 50mg, 100mg, 150mg - not successful and not monitored
I just got cleared to exercise at my 6 week OB visit and now I need to get back into working out beyond the daily walks we've been taking. Unfortunately I don't have a gym that does childcare and I don't have family nearby to watch LO while I go workout so my routine is probably going to be mainly exercise videos at home unless DH is around to watch the baby. Is anyone doing videos they recommend?

I love insanity and insanity max. If you don't want to buy any, I do some body blender HIIT YouTube videos. I did a 20 minute one yesterday and I'm soooooo sore today. They are pretty good.
@babyfmama I love the Jillian Michaels videos. When I can't watch a video, I do Pinterest workouts when baby naps. In fact, I like a lot of the Pinterest workouts better than my videos.
This is is the one I'm about to do. I haven't done this workout post partum yet, so I'm sure it's going to suck and take me forever to get through it.

@AliciaD39 your description is right on. Don't do it in front of anyone. It's embarrassing! My fat really gets a good shaking when I do wacky jacks, haha.
Second the Jillian Michaels videos, they're my fave. I bet the 30 day shred would be a good starting point for postpartum. Sadly it'll probably be at least a year before I can do something like that again because of the severity of my diastasis
I got cleared to exercise today! I've been walking a lot and doing some bodyweight exercises but I'm so anxious to get back to lifting. Going to the gym tonight and unfreezing my gym membership. Going to start running again too.
Okay, specifically mamas who had a csection, diastasis recti, or were restricted to no exercise/light exercise during pregnancy: consider checking out Jillian Michaels postpartum workout (Hot Body Healthy Mommy). I tried it this week and I really like it as a transition workout (hoping to get back to running, free weights, and 30 day shred). It uses her typical circuiting and has three 20min workouts: upper, lower, and core. Just like with others by her, you can ramp it up or down based on range of motion and hand weights, but it's really well done in terms of thoughtfulness for a healing body and specific modifications for csection/diastasis. I broke a sweat without being winded and feel like my muscles were worked without hurting my incision area. Good low to moderate impact, but probably not intense enough for someone who exercised hard throughout pregnancy and had no complications after.
Oh lawd, I ran yesterday for 20 minutes..And it felt like I had dead legs. Like every step slammed onto the treadmill. It was the longest 20 mins ever.

Thamnks@kbrands7 ! I got cleared for exercise on Wednesday, and I found out that I do have diastasis -but not a terrible case.
I will check it out...in my free time

Good to know!! My diastasis is really bad so I'm working with a PT to close it, but she says I'm done doing any traditional core work (crunches, planks, etc) for the foreseeable future and I was thinking well shit, that basically rules out 100% of my Jillian Michaels videos
Anyone decided to sign up for a race or anything as motivation post baby? My friend is trying to get me to sign up for a sprint tri at the beginning of September, but I'm not sure that is realistic

I'm trying to train for the Spartan Sprint next March or April. It's usually 4-5 miles with obstacles. Sept seems a little soon but I could be wrong.
Just a vent - I had to take off my wedding and engagement rings at about 7 mos pregnant. Now I'm nearly back to my pre-pregnancy weight (about 8 lbs to go) but the rings still aren't fitting! What gives? I miss my rings!

Probably depends on the individual pregnancy- with my son I was running pretty seriously by 4 months pp, but with this one it'll be a much longer road to recovery and there's no way I could race that soon.

The Dallas Mavericks have an annual 5k to support their charity in late October that my Dad always participates in. I was planning to join him. I'm not sure I would want to do anything earlier.

My 8 year old and I are doing two 5ks in August (same weekend). We do them every year. One is a wet n wild one where the last part we run in the lazy river of a water park. The other is when the fair is in town and we run through the fair and they have pit stops at the giant slide, a game, etc. She likes doing the fun runs. So we'll probably walk and run.

There's a 5k at a park near my house that's Halloween themed at the end of October and it's very stroller friendly. I planned on possibly doing that one. Then a 10k Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving I do every year. Then there is a half in February I am hoping to possibly do. I plan on signing up for all of them ahead of time bc then it will guilt DH into watching LO occasionally when I need to train bc he will be upset about wasting the money... And bc I need to get in shape.
Thanks everyone! I think I'll sign up for a 5k, but pass on the sprint tri. I just don't want to beat myself up for trying to train over spending time with my baby. Not worth it right now
Question: Does a c-section mean you've automatically got a case of diatasis recto? Late in my pg, I asked my dr. And he said I did not have any separation, but then I had a c-section. So I'm not sure what I should be doing or not doing in terms of planks, etc., which I did a lot of pre-pg.

My understanding is yes since lower abs are separated during surgery. My doctor advised plank exercises but not crunches or sit ups.
