You'll notice an exciting column I had to add to the spreadsheet now that we have some betas scheduled! Congrats on your transfers @Tusername and @babylonghorn16! Those pics of your little embabies are amazing
According to our records it looks like we have ERs today for @sleepyrn and @Happydays13! Good luck today ladies!!!
AFM- I haven't had any updates really since I'm just still waiting to begin the screening process for the trial. Tomorrow I have my consultation to go over the details of it and then I should know more about my protocol. I've been trying to not focus on fertility stuff right now, but I'm still finding myself stressed about random things all the time. DH and I are trying to figure out a trip to take this month before we start treatments again, just to get away and clear our minds. I feel like it would be refreshing for me.
@Foxy8609 have been on estrogen for a few weeks and haven't really noticed the memory loss yet! Definitely feel more tired in general so it'll be nice to get my transfer done (although if I'm pregnant that will start all new symptoms...not complaining about that though!). Should be starting progesterone suppositories tomorrow and so not looking forward to that.
Married to DH since 8/15

@wifeinraleigh28 try not to stress too much! The waiting is the worst part of all of this. For that reason, I actually liked IVF more than IUI. With IVF there's more to DO. Felt like each day I accomplished something! And although it's not very fun at times, at least you're not just waiting around! A trip sounds like a great way to clear your mind though. GL to you!!

Retrieval done and 9 eggs to fertilize! Will get an update tomorrow about how many were mature and how many fertilized. Had quite a lot of pain immediately after, but Tylenol and a heating pad and time have gotten it to bearable. Still a bit sleepy...so see a nap in the near future. DH was sweet and cooked me a nice lunch and set me up on the sofa before he has to go to work.
A little nervous about our starting number, but will see what tomorrow brings! And hopefully still on track for New York trip on Friday... @wifeinraleigh28 - a trip for you guys now sounds like a great idea!

Hi everyone! After 2 failed IUI attempts (that were extremely miserable experiences) we have decided to move on to IVF. The first available IVF appointment was 7/18. We're on a waiting list, should someone cancel (which I'm really hoping for cause mid July seems forever away). I should be around cd 7-9 at the time of my appointment.
My question for you all is... how long did you have between your first IVF appointment and the cycle when you stimmed? I'm trying to get my expectations. I assumed at a minimum, nothing will happen until the start of my next cycle.... but really hoping it's not much longer than that!

@happydays13 glad ER went well and you are home relaxing! FX that all 9 were mature and will fertilize! Hope you're feeling ok for your NY trip this weekend, FX for good and not too hot of weather!
@monica54321 I initially went for my IVF consult in early December but didn't get started until April, which was longer than anticipated and not expected. I had to wait for my beta to zero out following a chemical pregnancy with IUI #3 which took until the end of January and then initially started my cycle on BCPs at the beginning of February. During my mock transfer/saline sono in early Feb my RE had some concerns so had to go for a hysteroscopy which was still sort of inconclusive and then had an MRI so there were some definite delays in there. I ended up starting my cycle in April with a May retrieval and will have a frozen transfer end of June. I think most ladies on here have a much shorter timeline though!
Hi @Monica54321! I had my consult about halfway through my cycle, and was too late to start immediately. Had to wait until my period came again, and then started BCPs for 2 weeks. Halfway through the BCP, I started Lupron injections (suppression). 14 days later, I started stims. My stims lasted 10 days, then trigger, then ER.... ET 5 days later. So from consult to ET, it took almost EXACTLY 2 months. From consult to stims, was about 6 weeks. But your cycle could have a completely different protocol and you could get started earlier!! It all goes by VERY quickly though, so don't fret too much. It's amazing to me that my consult was that long ago... feels like yesterday! GL!!!

What's the reasoning behind taking BCPs? I have a history of blood clots (DVT with pulmonary embolism), thought to be provoked by BCPs - so I've been advised to never take anything with estrogen (including BCPs) again, for life. I'm guessing if I do end up having to take BCPs, I'll have to do daily lovenox shots during that time frame.

Awwwww that made me teary eyed to see the little embryo pictures on here. Good luck to you ladies!
I am new here! Hello to you all! I switched over from the IUI group. Today we met with our RE for the mock embryo transfer, our medication lesson, to pay, and to sign consent forms for my laproscopic surgery on Friday afternoon to drain my endometrioma and to remove scar tissue from up in my lady parts. We start the stim meds on Monday!
I also go in for my baseline appointment on Friday - same day as the surgery to do the first ultrasound and blood for the month.
My head is swirling and I can't shake the memory of my DH's pale face when he was watching the med mixing lesson. He seems overwhelmed by all this on top of a busy work schedule right now.
Anyone on here have a laproscopy before?

Reasoning behind BCPs is to suppress a dominate follicle from forming. If the dominate follicle forms (like in a normal cycle), then only that one will mature. They want to make sure you have multiple follicles growing, so they suppress during the early stages... that way when you stim, as many follicles as possible will all grow and you'll have multiple mature eggs! I believe several other women on another board had the same clot issue as you - they took blood thinners during BCPs.
Hope this helps! There are lots of interesting videos you can look up about the whole process that will help in your understanding of an IVF cycle! Your RE will most likely have an IVF class as well. Mine did, and it was EXTREMELY helpful. GL!!

Hi @Monica54321 ! I have a blood clotting disorder, and so I was also advised not to take any BCPs. The rationale is that estrogen in the pills increases the risk of blood clots. Other follicle stimulating medications also increase estrogen, as does pregnancy in general. For this reason, most women with blot clotting issues take Lovenox during pregnancy. My hematologist wanted me on it during all my fertility treatments, so it was added to my IVF protocol. You should consider talking to your doctor to see what they want you to do.

AFM-Remember how I hadn't told DH about getting to test on 6/8 before I leave town? My RE gave it away yesterday at my FET, haha. Oh well. The timing is going to be a little interesting because I am going in for beta early on 6/8, DH is returning home on 6/8 sometime and my flight to visit family is the night of 6/8. I've considered cancelling my trip. It'll be hard to leave DH a few hours after he gets home whether it's good or bad news. So, I'm not sure what to do yet. My trip is to go to my hometown to surprise my dad for his birthday. He wasn't able to make it to my college graduation & was pretty bummed about that.

Hi @Monica54321...someone else will probably have a more thorough answer for you regarding BCP but I think it's so the RE can be in complete control over what's going on with your cycle. They also want our IVF group to be on the same timeframe, as I guess it's easier for the office to handle? There's only one cycle group per month. Anyway, it seemed odd to me as well - I've been instructed to start my BCP tomorrow and then I start Lupron on 6/15. This is my first IVF cycle so I'm pretty clueless. Sorry I can't answer the other part of your question regarding your consult and how long after you could get started. We had ours in February but I started a new job in March and have been traveling a lot - July was the first two-week stretch I'll be home the entire time (egg retrieval is sometime between 7/9-7/22). I wish you the best of luck on this journey! xo

@Andreap681 hi! You'll find a great group of ladies here. Waiting can really suck! I'm at the same point you are - waiting for AF and then can start BCPs, but also waiting for a genetic testing probe to be finished (our DX is single gene disorder carrier) and THEN I can really start the ivf cycle...but, anyway, welcome!

@babylonghorn16 throughout this whole process I'm always thinking of a million questions I wished I had asked during procedures or appointments. But you're right the only thing we can do is take care of ourselves and pray. @wifeinraleigh28 a trip is a great idea! DH and myself went on a cruise after our failed IUI's before we started the IVF process. It was so nice to have a little fun and gear up for what's ahead. @Happydays13 praying that your 9 eggs fertilize and grow into beautiful embryos. @lilmissslp It is great not to have to do PIO! @Tusername would you be able to go the next day so that you can spend time with DH before you go?

@Monica54321 Welcome to this group! Not every IVF protocol uses BCPs. In fact, the trial I'm hopefully participating in doesn't allow them at all, and instead requires that you start stims on day 2 or 3 of your natural cycle. I've heard of other ladies here who didn't use BCPs for their IVF cycles because of blood clotting disorders like you have, so your RE may decide to not even put you on BCPs! I also know a girl in real life who had 3 failed IVF cycles that all used BCPs, so she switched REs and her new RE chose to not use BCPs with her, and she was finally successful. So I wouldn't worry too much, as you may not even need to worry about going on BCPs And to answer your question about when you can start IVF after your consult, if you aren't using BCPs, you can probably start stimms as soon as your next period starts. If you'll be going on BCPs, your RE will probably want you to be on them for about 3 weeks before you start stims. Before I was planning to do the trial, my RE was going to have me start BCPs immediately following our consult with him and then I would have started stims in about 3-4 weeks from that point. It can happen pretty quickly, but everyone has different circumstances
Welcome to @freudianmamma as well! It's nice to see some familiar faces here from our IUI groups, but it is sad as well that we have to be here. Definitely bittersweet
Welcome @Andreap681! You'll find a nice group of women here to share this experience with!
I added all the new members to our spread sheet. I will post it soon

Thank you to all who wished me well yesterday. I had the ER done, and they gave me some pain meds after before they let me go home, which my body didn't agree with and I ended up vomiting the whole ride home (the crackers and juice they gave me after I woke up). Not fun.
I still feel crampy and my lymph nodes in my neck are swollen. My nurse says that is not related to the procedure, but they were fine yesterday so its a strange coincidence.
They got 7 eggs (I was so disappointed since I had over 30 follicles). All 7 are mature, and all 7 fertilized thanks to the ICSI. Now I'm just hoping they all grow. I alternate PIO and crinone, and start my estrogen pills 3x a day.
How is everyone else doing?

Still sore but feeling a bit better than yesterday! And going to NYC this weekend so will have a nice distraction.
they said that that they will look at them on day 3 but no call because it's over a weekend...sad we won't get an update but maybe it's ok since there's nothing to be done between now and day 5.

@Monica54321I didn't use BCP's on my first IVF cycle (and won't for the next one either). My RE prefers to utilize the natural cycle if it is fairly regular. I do have to do a luteal suppression (for the same reason BCP's are used) though by using estrogen patches every other day (and 3 cetrotide injections) for the last few days of my cycle. I'm sure your RE will have a plan that works for you!

Hi all, for all the new ladies asking about timelines, if you have insurance coverage it may take a little longer to start receive your protocol. I have UHC and they require updated tests and bloodwork for the pre authorization paperwork. Also the pre auth can take 2-3 weeks to come in and you'll need that to order your medications. The billing dept at my clinic said UHC takes the longest to approve everything so hopefully if you have insurance coverage and need pre auth it takes much less time!
For everyone PUPO congrats!! Fx for you all.
Lastly has anyone, or will you be doing ICIS? My re just brought it up bc dh's last sa was slightly lower than his first. I'm convinced it was because he had the ac blasting in the car for the 20min drive and some of his swimmers didn't make it. Does anyone have concerns with it?
@sleepyrn oh man that does not sound fun about your reaction to the pain meds. I am hoping that isn't me on Friday after my laproscopy. The dr prescribed something called Zofran for me to take after it so I don't barf - I hope it works. 7 eggs that fertilized! Wahoo good luck!
@Happydays13 wahoo for your 7! Sending you good wishes!
@ale9687 do you mean ICSI? Like, where they inject the sperm directly into the egg? I am, but only cause we are also doing PGD, and supposedly if they fertilize them the "normal" way, the other sperm (that lost the "race", haha) could contaminate the fertilized eggs with their different DNA and stuff. Nothing I've read about it has made me concerned, though. I have read that some use ICSI as the reason why there is a higher rate of identical twins with IVF compared to non-IVF...
@freudianmamma Zofran should work. They didn't give me any and I wish I would have been with it enough to ask for it.
@ale9687 We used ICSI because of my age, DH's SA was all normal but they said it would be the best chance for us. And I guess it worked because 7/7 fertilized with it.

@ale9687I think my clinic pretty much does ICSI for all of their IVF patients. All of our mature eggs were fertilized so it seems the fertilization success rates tend to be higher if ICSI is used.
Me: 36 DH: 36 TTC since October 2014 June 2015: large ovarian cyst removed Nov 2015: Dx w/ diminished ovarian reserve, extremely low AMH IVF #1: 04/2016 - 3 eggs retrieved, 2 mature & fertilized, 1 Day 6 blast frozen, PGS normal IVF #2: 07/2016 - 3 eggs retrieved, 2 mature & fertilized, none made it past day 3 IVF #3: 09/2016 - 5 eggs retrieved, 3 mature & fertilized, 1 day 6 blast frozen, PGS normal FET #1: 12/2016 - 1 day 6 blast transferred - BFP!! EDD 9/7/2017
@ale9687 we did ICSI because we didn't want any guessing in the process. Going through 3 failed IUIs made us wonder if there is some other issue with "natural" fertilization. Didn't want to chance it. Out of 22 mature eggs, we had 21 fertilize successfully w/ ICSI! It definitely works!!
Oh yeah, forgot to mention: got call yesterday - we have 8 embryos that were biopsied for PGS testing and frozen and 4 more than were frozen without testing - we only paid for 8 bc we didn't think we'd have more! Total of 12 little frosties!! So so happy with this cycle (so far ). Hopefully the good news continues! Only 8 more days until beta!!!!

@ale9687 - just wanted to weigh in on the ICSI topic
*trigger warning**
we had ICSI done, 28 or 27 out of the 34 eggs fertilized (PCOS ovaries went crazy on the meds). Anyway, I highly recommend it. I know there are concerns that the 'fastest' swimmer doesn't fertilize the egg, but we have a very healthy, very happy little IVF/ICSI baby. Personally, ICSI was awesome for us.
hi all. I've been following along but haven't posted yet. Currently taking meds for an FET, which will hopefully happen mid-June. We are trying for #2.
I love the tracker! There are so many of us here, it makes it so much easier to keep track of everyone. Good luck all!
I'm confused. What's the other option if you don't do ICSI? And how do you know if you had it? Our last IVF cycle we got 6 eggs, 5 mature, 4 fertilized but only 1 made it to day 3. That ended in a BFN. Do you think it's cuz we didn't do ICSI? I just assumed they'd inject the sperm directly into the egg. How else do they do it?
Also, I have a question for those of you who are on a second IVF cycle. How did the protocol change for you? I'm on BCP right now and I've been told I'll do Lupron this time around. Not sure what other changes to expect. Maybe PIO instead of the gel suppository? Any other changes you think I'd get?
@caseyw8784 that's interesting about the pgs testing.
@FatPony@babylonghorn16 and @sleepyrn those are great fertilization rates! I'm deffinately more comfortable doing icsi now. I think i was just worried because it wasn't really discussed but now it seems like that's really the best route to go.
@kyrgyzstan They don't always do ICSI with IVF. They let the eggs and sperm mingle together to fertilize a lot of the time. We had half of our eggs do that, and all but one fertilized.

The timing is going to be a little interesting because I am going in for beta early on 6/8, DH is returning home on 6/8 sometime and my flight to visit family is the night of 6/8. I've considered cancelling my trip. It'll be hard to leave DH a few hours after he gets home whether it's good or bad news. So, I'm not sure what to do yet. My trip is to go to my hometown to surprise my dad for his birthday. He wasn't able to make it to my college graduation & was pretty bummed about that.

Lastly has anyone, or will you be doing ICIS? My re just brought it up bc dh's last sa was slightly lower than his first. I'm convinced it was because he had the ac blasting in the car for the 20min drive and some of his swimmers didn't make it. Does anyone have concerns with it?

we had ICSI done, 28 or 27 out of the 34 eggs fertilized (PCOS ovaries went crazy on the meds). Anyway, I highly recommend it. I know there are concerns that the 'fastest' swimmer doesn't fertilize the egg, but we have a very healthy, very happy little IVF/ICSI baby. Personally, ICSI was awesome for us.

@FatPony @babylonghorn16 and @sleepyrn those are great fertilization rates! I'm deffinately more comfortable doing icsi now. I think i was just worried because it wasn't really discussed but now it seems like that's really the best route to go.
