@Kacie209 the keychains! It was such a bummer never finding my name too. It's crazy the things that mattered to us when we were kids!

I used to hate my name, because although it has recently become more accepted as a gender neutral name, it's a boys' name.  I like having a more unique name now and will probably give this little nugget a unique name as well.

I love my name, Annette! Not a strange name, but never popular. Always felt a little different. If it wasn't my name, I would use it if I had a girl.

I've never really been a fan of my name (Carolyn) but I suppose it fits me, and it's better than the alternatives my parents considered (Jennifer and Barbara).  I've never known another Carolyn my age which was my biggest gripe with it but the older I get the less I care.  Lol.  I've been called Carrie, Care, Carol and Caroline my entire life (annoying) and always have to spell my name, as simple as it is.  My parents love it though, and they picked it for a reason so I can deal ;)

I love my name. It's not Elizabeth or Bethany, but simply Beth. Naturally, my middle name is Ann so it rolls right off your tongue. I've rarely met other Beth's out there that aren't short for another name. Thanks mom and dad! ;)

Brittany, every third girl in America I swear was named Brittany in the 80's. My name has grown on me as I've gotten older...but all the way through high school I hated it. At one of my jobs there were four Brittany's, all spelled differently. And spelling, everyone always spells it wrong. I went by Brittany B. for most of my life.

I don't know what I would name myself...naming two children is proving to be a challenge lol.

I'm April. I also have a masculine middle name after my grandfather (...just bc I'm the first grandkid I had to have a boy name?)

I got a lot of jokes about April Fools Day, the month in general, EVERYONE asks if I was born in April (no, bday is not in April), Grape Ape....you name it. As a teenager I would change my name badge to avoid questions and jokes from retail and fast food customers during that month. Apparently my father decided my name. I've convinced myself that it's because he had an old girlfriend named April that was much nicer than my mom....lol.

I'm not sure what I would have changed it to, but my new name badges were always very strange names. Not ones I'd actually like. Also, my name HAS been misspelled a lot...WHO CAN'T SPELL A MONTH!? (apryl, apirl, aprle)

I like my name now. Even though my rant makes it seem like I don't. I feel so much better now. Thanks *exhale* hahaha

Mine is Emily. There were definitely a lot of us growing up. I don't really mind my name, but it's not my favorite either. I don't know what I would change my name to,given the opportunity.

I'm an Elizabeth that's called Beth and my middle name is Anne! That seems like one of the most common combinations ever haha. I get called Beth Anne by my parents all the time!

Marci here. It doesn't feel like "me". My middle name is Ann and honestly, even though it's short and plain, it's a whole lot more like me. Marci is always the stupid, annoying or slutty next door neighbor.

My first name is Laura and my mom named me after Laura Ingalls Wilder (her favorite books/author/historical figure as a kid) and I've always liked my name. I graduated with one other Laura so it's not that common, I guess. My middle name is Renee and I think my mom got that from either a friend of hers or a cousin. I'm not really sure, but I've always been pretty fond of my name. My biggest post peeve is my name being pronounced "Lora". It happens quite a bit.

@LCartee2016 just out of curiousity, how WOULD you pronounce your name? I always thought that was the way to say it "L-OW-rah" -no?

I'm Afton. I am the only Afton I know, I have heard of a few people with my name but never have I met another Afton in person. I love my name. As a kid it was a little annoying because people would always say wrong. I went through a phase in high school where I told my mom I was changing the spelling to Aftyn and she refused to let me. I'm glad I didn't do that now!

Hate my name. My mom named me Yulia, and that would have been such a great transition to Julia here in the states, and I really loved that name BUT of course NO ONE ever called me Yulia or Julia! My grandparents gave me a nickname which got Americanized into "Holly" and I.HATE.IT. But i've had it for 13 years now and it's legally changed so there's no going back. When my mother was pregnant with me she almost named me Monica, and I used to wish so hard that she would have called me that. But oh well lol.

Funny thing - when I was little I wanted to have 3 daughters and name them Faith, Hope, and Love (Vera, Nadejda (Nadia), Lyubov) lol of course that's not going to happen. But I still like the name Vera.
I teach at a primarily Slavic school and have Yulia's and Nadia's and Vera's. They are all great names!

I don't mind my name! It's Mariah. I've only ever met a handful of other Mariah's in my life, so that part is nice. Plus there are no weird nicknames that can come from it...except I HATE when people call me Mariah Carey. And it happens a lot

I have an uncommon name.  When I was little, it sucked not ever finding anything with my name on it when all the girls in my class had barrettes and pencils and stuff with their names on them.  Now, I like having a more unique name and tried to give my kids more uncommon (though not youneek) names.

I am a Claire and love my name. I've always liked it because it is unique but not youneek (i didn't like the Breakfast Club line, "Claire's a fat girl's name). It's more popular now but wasn't when I was growing up.

My cousin's name is Heather and she and I have always been close. Back when we were in Girl Scouts together, the girls called me "Beffer" and called her "Heffer" because they thought our names should rhyme. Sooooo not an okay nickname!

@LCartee2016 So DH had a BFF in high school named Laura and his cousin is also a Laura. So when they come up in conversation, he says it like you say your name and it drives me nuts because I've always said Laura like L-or-a. To me it sounds so strange when he says L-ahr-a. But I'm glad to know that there are Lauras who prefer their name said that way. Maybe I'll stop picking on him for it now. lol

I LOVE Vera. I want to use it as a baby name if we have a girl but I cannot convince my husband! It is such a classic and classy 1920s name.

@PharmDMom it's good to know I'm not crazy! I know a couple other Laura's and they don't seem bothered by it, either way. Idk why it has always grated on my nerves. I just chalk it up to me being a weirdo.  :D

I'm Laura (pronounced L-or-a) and I've always loved my name. It's not so unique that it's a "weird" name, but I was always the only Laura in school and I've always been the only Laura in jobs!
