Pregnant after 35

Baby is here!

Hi everyone. So I've been MIA recently, but with good reason! I gave birth to my son, Ian, at 5:21am on Monday May 23rd following a VERY rapid spontaneous labor at 37w3d. He weighed 5lb 8oz, and measured 19 inches at birth. He may be tiny, but he is FIERCE! He latched at the breast right away and has been feeding frequently and vigorously. We had our first pediatrician appointment today and he's gaining weight already at only 4 days old.

I'll miss this group and will definitely keep lurking. You are an amazing and supportive group of mamas-to-be! @sporty1216 I'm interested in your FB group too, if you'll have me!

  • The cuteness!!!! Oh my word. So precious. He has as much hair as my 2 yo! He is just adorable. Makes me want September to hurry up and get here, even though I'm trying my best not to wis away the months of this pregnancy since it is likely to be my last.... But still. Squishy newborn snuggles are awesome!
  • I hear, ya, @redheadbride15  ! That is *absolutely* how I felt almost immediately after my son was born too. The unknown of the future is hard to sit with sometime. And then it was a struggle for us to conceive #2, so I really, really am trying to savor every moment of this pregnancy, just as I tried to with my son since I had no assurance a #2 would happen.

In a weird way, I think I'll always miss being pregnant after this baby comes. It's such an incredible experience and if I had gotten to get started younger I'd do it as many times as my body would allow! Grateful that all of us here are getting to have the experience. And here's to, in good time, the privilege of a round 2 for you. :)

Hope Ian lets you catch a bit of a nap here and there today. He is so sweet.

It was a hand-me-down. Carters, I think. My SIL sent a package of used clothes in preemie and newborn sizes because I only had 0-3 mo. I wasn't expecting to bring home a 5lb baby!

  • I already saw your post on the fb page, but congratulations!

It's interesting to hear that you miss being pregnant. I'm already looking forward to having a normal, comfortable, symptom-free, pain-free body again, not to mention sleeping on my stomach! But I wonder if I'll miss it too, and regret not appreciating it more. Especially because, like you, a second one isn't guaranteed. Hmm...food for thought.

Oh, and that's awesome that you had a quick labor! And Ian's adorable. I want to pick him up.
