I highly doubt we will have a babymoon. I may convince DH to go on a long weekend away somewhere, but it would be in driving distance. We live 3.5 hours from the Minneapolis area, and I could see going down there for a weekend, although isn't uncommon since I do go there often. When we do go, we usually hit up downtown bars for a night of fun, but obviously I won't be partaking in that, ha.
We went to Vegas in January for our trip this year, so I can really consider that the babymoon. I was actually fertile the week we were there, and was kind of hoping the luck of Vegas would be in our favor (and so I could buy a onesie that said, "I'm what happened in Vegas"), but the odd sleeping schedules, nights out VERY late and me not temping due to that did not work.

DH and I are farmers, so once the growing season hits we can't ever both go anywhere at the same time - someone has to watch the farm. On top of that we're moving sometime before the baby comes, so there's really no time (or money) for a trip. I get a little sad about it, especially because we haven't had much time to travel during our whole relationship - our honeymoon was a 4 day road trip to look at farm land for sale. And I haven't taken an actual vacation in several years, since my family lives far away and I use any available time to go see them.
But then I remember that we chose this life with our future kids in mind, and we knew what the sacrifices would be. And we do live in a beautiful area where we can take a half day away from the farm to go berry picking or hiking, and that helps.
We'll be going to Lake Erie in August with our 2 year old. I have no desire to travel without him, and it wouldn't be the same without him anyway. We went last year and had a blast- this year will be even more fun now that H can do so much more!
@cgss11Um, the part near the amusement park and the really good ice cream place? Lol. I've been there like twice. My husband went to school near there so he loves going up and staying in that part of town.
All of the beach resorts I had planned are obviously not going to happen, sadly... We were considering Cartagena, DR, or Jamaica. Now we are thinking Cape Cod, Nantucket, or Maine. I've never been, but it seems like a very romantic and beautiful trip. Any tips or preferences? We would be going in August, or early September.
@ABJU1109 - book now! Those places will all be quite expensive and hard to get a hotel in August. Sept will be easier and less crowded. As far as the Cape goes, Chatham and Provincetown are my favorites, but the sharks always show up in the ocean around Chatham. We usually stay in Provincetown on the bay side, but the place we stay at isn't something to write home about. A more central location is better for visiting other towns though. There's a vineyard I like in Truro but that's not so exciting when you're pregnant.
Nantucket will be super super expensive. Try Airbnb. You can also do a day trip from the Cape via ferry.
I haven't been to Maine much but there are a lot of nice beaches. The beaches in New England don't really compare to the Caribbean though.
I have no desire to take a plane somewhere, I'm apparently a nervous FTM and want to stay within a couple of hours of my hospital/OB. We did book a week off in August, most likely we will spend it at the cottage enjoying the sun and lake. Might take a little road trip to a cute nearby place.

@PrettyPalomino That's been our deciding factor in picking a baby moon place as well. The hospital I go to is in a large system so they have hospitals in 4 states around where I live. I still really want to go to Dallas, and I know we could because they have hospitals there obviously, but I'd rather be closer to home or still within our system. For that reason we'll probably end up going to St. Louis, Branson, Hot Springs, or Tulsa. We'll probably make a final decision after we have our anatomy scan since we're going over Labor Day and I don't want to wait until everywhere is booked up.
