@MamaWino I've been taking Unisom since my BFP (I usually take Ambien for ongoing insomnia) and it really has helped. I can't take a full tablet or I have a hangover effect in the Am so I take 3/4 of a tab. I fall asleep within 20 mins or so usually. If I only take a half or don't take it I'm awake for an hour or two tossing and turning. Hope it works for you!!
Thanks, @PharmDMom!  I took half a tablet last night and it didn't really do anything.  I feel asleep fairly quickly but only stayed asleep for 3 hours and tossed and turned the rest of the night.  I think I'll try 3/4 of a tab tonight.  I'm dragging today!

I've been feeling pretty good MS-wise this week (I'm 9+4 today) and then I almost barfed brushing my teeth this morning. So there's that.

Heavy boobs, constipation like whoa, food aversions. It gets better, right?
  • @LCartee2016 - My boobs never grew or got sore in either pregnancy. After DD was born, they ballooned up. But I'm flat as a board and as boob-insensitive as ever. This is fortunate for me as DD's favorite soothing activity is grabbing, mauling, and pinching my boobs and nipples.

  • @LinziLoo09 thank you!
I (because I'm insane) consulted Dr. Google which made me feel equal parts panicked and relieved. So, I laid off that particular search.
Your comment does make me feel a lot better though. I just felt super weird that everyone (seemingly)  is complaining about sore books and I'm over here just like *shrug*"nah".
I have to keep reminding myself that every pregnancy is different and just because I don't have the same symptoms at the same intensity as others,  that doesn't mean something is wrong with me.
Just doing a lot of freaking out lately. Sorry. Thank you again! :)

  • I totally get it @LCartee2016 . Just know there are at least 65,000 symptoms in pregnancy that no one has ever told you about. Nearly any weird thing you experience over the year can be attributed to that life-sucking creature in your womb. Consider yourself lucky if you managed to skip the curse of the boobs in the tortuous gauntlet that is pregnancy. You won't be so lucky for long ;)

  • Does anyone else feel unusually cold? I read it can be a symptom of hypothyroid, and my OB said I'm borderline. It's such a weird thing to feel - it's like my bones feel cold even when it's pretty warm out.
  • @mysteryship It's pretty normal to be cold during pregnancy since all the progesterone cranks up our core body temperature, so our body is trying to keep us warmer.  It's also normal to have hot flashes as well.  So basically temperature is super weird during pregnancy.  That said if you haven't had your thyroid checked recently it may be worth getting it tested again just to be sure. :)

OMG YES!  I can't stand it!  I'm normally a cold person but this is ridiculous.  It's 70 degrees outside today and I was laying under a giant blanket earlier with my three old on top of me and could. not. get. warm.  I've been this way each pregnancy and it threw my OB for a loop when I asked her about it.  She said most women get hot flashes but she's never had anyone complain of being cold.  Leave it to me to be the odd one.

  • Exhausted. Heartburn. Cold all the time. And short of breath  :# but I think the SOB is because I'm exhausted plus pregnancy changes, but I think that's the worst symptom.
  • Thanks @Fauxpa & @MamaWino for making me feel a bit more normal :)
And I'm getting my thyroid checked again next week, so I'll know if it's related to that.
  • @LinziLoo09 that's the hope :)

I'm also in the "few to no symptoms" boat, very anxiously awaiting the doctor's appointment on June 1 to see if everything is ok!

  • R0824HR0824H member
So tired ALL the time! I wake up and think 'I could sleep for another 8 hours'...This weekend has been really bad though, Friday was a really bad day; couldn't get warm, headache, nausea made a short appearance as well. I actually thought I was getting the flu :| The chills went away but since then I've felt blaahhhhh.

constipation...until yesterday then it was the opposite, could just be part of this weekend's blah-ness. I think I should start taking some Metamucil for extra fibre

I've had VERY little nausea this whole pregnancy so far, it came in waves for a little while but most of the time it's just that I want food but when I have it infront of me it's unappetizing.

I know this sounds like a lot of symptoms but they just seem so mild it freaks me out, that and I know our NT scan on Monday was good with a  strong HB but the closer we get to being able to announce it and tell more people the more anxious I am about something going horribly wrong.

Isn't it way too early for sciatic nerve issues? It feels just like it - shooting pain that starts in my right lower back, through that butt cheek and down in to my leg. It's not terrible, I pretty much just feel it when I bend over, but I don't remember that happening until I was much further along with DD.

@beff12 I'd definitely say that's sciatica pain, I usually have sciatica issue while non-pg so I'm just waiting for it to happen while being pg :( the only thing I found to help was a Tens machine (but I don't know if that's allowed while pregnant)

@R0824H @beff12 Another sciatica sufferer here. Sciatica is so painful, so many sympathies to anyone going through it. Chiropractic has helped a tremendous amount, and squats. I can't recommend doing squats enough. Part of sciatica comes from the lower back muscles being weak (usually caused in part by too much sitting, injuries aside) and not holding the spine properly, so it can get pinched. Ouch ouch ouch. When my sciatica gets tweaked, though, nothing helps me unless I go to sleep and "reset" my spine. I'm jelly of anyone that has it and has remedies, because it is no fun. :(
  • I've had a break from the nausea for the past 3-4 days, but it came back with a vengeance this afternoon. First time I've puked this pregnancy, and I'm still feeling crappy.

Oh and my face acne is getting better, but my chest is broken out.

    This is one tricksy baby...

Also it's comforting to know other people struggle with the sciatica, anyone else I know thinks I'm "faking it"..let me jam a knife in your butt cheek and tell me how good it feels. And when I say comforting I mean to know I'm not alone not that you poor ladies suffer as well :(

I'm 12 weeks today and still puking everyday for the last month.  It feels worse at this point because I thought it might subside around week 10 or 11 but it just keeps on keeping on.  I'm pretty miserable but trying to stay optimistic with 2nd tri around the corner.  STMs, if you had MS, when did it end for you?
  • @benshep I am also interested in knowing when it ended for people. Most of the people I know say nausea peaks at weeks 9 and 10. I've heard hg tends to peak around weeks 9-11 as well.

I am 12 weeks and 3 days and my nausea during the day has lifted, but I still have to manage it heavily with frequent meals and avoiding food aversions, etc. The hypersmell has also lifted.

However, I am still throwing up every night, especially from 12-5 AM. I force myself to eat which can be tough with all of the aversions but that might be helping. After throwing up for a while I have a bowl of cereal and go back to sleep. Luckily right now, I do not need to be at work until midday.  One of my colleagues said her ms went to week 20. But hers also started later week 6. I'd love to hear STM weigh in. Good luck!!!!!

    @phoenix870509 thank you!!

@benshep & @MBS2016 with DD, I had all day nausea that went away around week 14 or 15. It wasn't an immediate relief when I hit second tri, but it wasn't long after that I felt like a normal person again! Fingers crossed for both of you that second tri brings relief <3

  • My nausea has gone down a bit, but now I have heartburn, especially at night. Super duper tired and in bed by 8pm. My boobs are pretty sore and back pain.. I started going to physical therapy for my low back and it seems to help. They specialize in pre-natal and pos-natal pt and care!

  • @benshep I second @beff12 . My nausea didn't go away right at 12 weeks, but I was feeling pretty good by 14 or 15. Unfortunately my nausea did return in 3rd tri, but it wasn't as bad as 1st. DH calls 2nd tri the eye of the storm. It is.

  • @benshep - last time I was really sick from 5.5 weeks to 22 weeks. Then the remainder I had bad reflux but that was nothing compared to MS. MS peaked for me last time from week 11 to 16.

I'm 10.5 right now and yesterday was pretty darn bad. Today is starting out bad too. I've got some hope that, because my MS feels a little more stereotypical than last time, maybe it will go away at a more stereotypical time? like... 14 weeks? That'd be a dream...

  • so today was fun. lightning crotch struck me about 13 times today.  I was sitting in a franklin covey training course and I swear I jumped out of my chair at least a foot.  as I cringed, grimaced and crossed my legs to try to get some counter pressure (lest I actually jump up and grab my crotch in front of everyone) all I could picture was LO flydiving into my cervix with a fist punched out like superman.

isn't it too early for this?

I didn't experience it until my third trimester. You're just lucky, I guess lol
  • With both girls my ms did not go away until at least 14 weeks. Both times I had the feeling it was never going to end. This time I'm down to just mild nausea at night and sometimes after eating and I'm just over 12 weeks.

It is definitely not too early (unfortunately!). I had it so bad during weeks 7/8 that it would make my one leg buckle from the shock of pain. I looked like a goofball in public walking around and almost collapsing. Luckily it has gone away now, but I wouldn't be surprised if it reared its ugly head again in the third tri. Hang in there - sorry to hear you're facing this too.

I am!! But I've heard conflicting info on the safety of the active ingredient in H&S during pregnancy. I NEED some though haha. Have you heard anything about the safety of it? Most people say it's totally fine (including on the H&S website) so don't worry. I feel so silly calling the nurse line about this but I guess that's what it's there for :)
