Re: Symptoms 5.19

  • My evening sickness is getting slightly better, meaning I'm not moaning and sighing and balled up on the couch every night like I was, but still not feeling great. It also seems like I can actually get through a day without needing a nap now. All in all, symptoms are still there, but starting to subside. Only 1 more week of first trimester left!
  • Loading the player...
  • -more barfing BUT I'm actually feeling better intermittently. It's so different than last time. I just ate yogurt. I'm doing the impossible over here!

    -bloating.

-constipation. I need to do something about it at this point I think. Hopping on the Google but am welcoming suggestions!

-fatigue. And my heat rate thinks getting out of the car is a gymnastics routine

    -random overwhelming emotions.

  • In addition to all of my "normal" symptoms (nausea, exhaustion, sore boobs, overly emotional etc.) I have now developed carpel tunnel?!? I hear it's from the increased blood supply/flow. I write a lot everyday for my job and so it's really bothering me, any suggestions?? Anyone else experiencing this?

  • I have just been a lazy bum. I keep telling myself I will clean and every day FI comes home to me in bed watching reruns of Hell's Kitchen eating Swedish fish... No shame in my game. I don't even have the energy to get out of the house to get something to eat. Baby is going to come out as one giant gummy, I'm convinced!
  • I still have zero patience and am extremely irritable.   I also have "morning" sickness every afternoon and evening that lasts until I eventually throw up.  I hate throwing up with a passion/phobia, but afterwards I can at least sleep.

@erica0901 I've had carpal tunnel since before pregnancy since I work with computers. I don't know if it is a different type of feeling since they have different causes, but taking hot baths and heating pads are the only things that help me. Sometimes I'll sleep with a brace designed for sleeping, but regular braces makes it hurt worse for me. They may work for you, though. It's nerve pain, so unless you have a medication that specifically addresses nerve pain, regular meds like Ibuprofen won't touch it, which sucks. There are special stretches you can find on Pinterest that help, too.

Sorry to not have great news, but that's just my experience. Carpal tunnel sucks balls. :[

  • @slartybartfast try some dried prunes!!!! They finally saved me from the dreaded lack-o'-poops. I'm eating about 5-7/day and have noticed a difference for sure.

  • • General icky feeling - I was teased early week thinking my nausea had finally left. Nope, it's still alive. Less maybe, but still there.

    • Constipation & bloating - As mentioned above, prunes this week have finally helped some with my constipation. I've noticed a relationship between constipation and feeling sick - if I can "go" regularly, I feel way less nauseous! But I still look like a bloated balloon. Ugh.

    • Sore lady lumps - I just told my friend today that if nipples could cry, mine would be all day. The ache is real man.

    • Fatigue - I mean. Eventually I'll feel like myself again, right!?

    • No sex drive still - Let's just say my DH is a very patient man. Again, I'll feel like myself again someday...RIGHT!?

    • Sensitive smell - it's still off the chain. I can smell all of YOU. *eye roll emoji*

    • Pregnancy brain - it really kicked off this week. I've done some really stupid things. Like really stupid. At least I have a good excuse?

  • @erica0901 I had terrible carpal tunnel when I was pregnant with DS, and the most helpful thing was wearing wrist splint things at night. That and icing my wrists. Also, try to drink lots of water and minimize salt. The less bloating, the better. It was rough. I'm so sorry you're experiencing that already. For me it did get better after he was born, but it hasn't gone away completely.

As for me, still having the nausea and fatigue. Boobs are sore but not quite as bad, although they are now really vein-y, which is gross. I'm noticing I get out of breath more quickly now. Still quick-tempered, but less grumpy and more excited.

  • Anytime I eat an actual full meal the bloat is unreal. I've also been crying really easily, but that could be from lack of sleep. I cried earlier today because my first OB appointment is on Tuesday and I can't believe this pregnancy is already going by so quickly... Idk what's wrong with me.
  • Thanks for the tips @cjt121413 !

I told DH I think I could literally sleep for the next 24 hours. The fatigue is probably my worst symptom and this week has been way more busy (I've had to leave the couch GASP) so that's just compounding it.

Still queasy. Nighttime is the worst.

Sore boobs - I agree with @swhiddon33, I think my boobs could use a good cry hahaha

Pregnancy brain is real you guys. I've been saying/doing the dumbest things. And then I get angry if I'm called out on them. Super mature.

  • For me, the nausea and heartburn seems to have increased, and I'm starting to feel more fatigued than I have in the past several weeks.  The fatigue may be related to our recent vacay though...I never sleep well away from home plus it was pretty hectic towards the end.

@slartybartfast the heart rate increase is insane. My heart races and I get out of breath doing the smallest things. Showering seems like a work out.

Also I thought I had escaped the MS. Apparently it has started with a vengeance at week 11 and I've been constantly nauseous. Joy.
  • Just extreme fatigue for me! Mostly finding it impossible to get out of bed ( which isn't usual for me) and my afternoons caring for DD feel like DAYS when all I want to do is curl up and nap.

Also finding it very hard to concentrate on work.

I suppose I should count myself "lucky" that it isn't worse. I just don't handle being tired well. I become an emotional mess
  • Today was the first in several weeks that I had some relief from all day nausea! I got queasy a couple of times during the day when I needed to eat, but it was manageable. And I don't think I was overly fatigued either. It was a crazy day at work, though, so that could have just kept me on my toes and distracted more.

My bloat is serious though. My stomach 'remembers' how to be pregnant, and it is currently cradling all of my bloat and smushed up organs in a blumpy kind of way.

I am super fortunate to not have sore boobs at all. DD is weaned but still likes grabbing/pinching them for comfort. I wouldn't make it if they were as sensitive as some of yours seem to be.

  • Things are starting to settle down here. I had little no symptoms with my first pregnancy, so the mild nausea was annoying this time around. It's only hitting a night time, which is good.

Im also incredibly tired but that may or may not be pregnancy related.

Nausea still. Lots of gag moments throughout the day.

    Hypersmell.

    Super irritable.

    Days-long headaches and general discomfort.

Anxiety/sadness, though that's probably mostly due to work stress (small biz not doing well, I may be let go to save costs... talk about crappy timing!)

I'm trying to stay positive and happy but I am finding it difficult right now. I'm sure it'll turn around soon.

    Nausea still

    Fatigue

Constipation (though it is a little better)

Biggest complaint lately is the insomnia. After I get up around 2:30 to use the bathroom I'm wide awake for hours..sometimes the rest of the night. And the worst part is it happens whether or not I have taken the Unisom.

The lack of sleep is causing some crazy emotional moments. DH pointed out yesterday that I went from crying to laughing and rapping Notorious BIG in about 45 seconds. Crazy town over here.
  • Yup, definitely more evening sickness than morning. Last night was bad. I was fine after I got home from work and ran to Old Navy to buy some PG leggings. Took a 30 minute nap on the couch, but after that just felt awful. I felt great the whole day, so I will take that... but still.

I have also been pretty tired this week. I was in bed by 9:30 Tuesday night after barely keeping my eyes opened while watching some TV in the 7:00 hour. Again, was good all day until then.

Constipation has been off and on, but something I eat definitely upsets my stomach so then I usually don't have a problem. So weird. IDK, I'll also take that as when I finally can poop... it hurts. A lot.

Bloat, always. No matter what I do, (Gas-X, water) it's still there.

  • Nausea still. Ugh. Yesterday morning I felt fantastic and was really optimistic that things were turning around, but the afternoon/evening kicked my butt. There's no rhyme or reason.
    Exhausted like whoa.
    Bloat.

Really holding onto hope that 2nd tri will be better..

A personal win is that I haven't puked yet. I was puking intermittently for 8months with DD, so if I can avoid throwing up altogether this time around I would be eternally grateful.
  • Tired. All. The. Time. No joke. After work I just want to take a nap. I'm in bed by 9 most nights. Came back to bite me last night when I woke up at 3 to pee and couldn't fall back asleep.

I didn't take my nausea meds last night or this morning and I feel fine. I don't know how long that is going to last, but for now we will see what happens.

At the opposite end of the constipation spectrum now. Glad to finally have BMs, but they HURT!

Dizziness and vertigo! It's only happened a handful of times, but wow it's a trip!

Bloat and gas. Gas X does jack, and I've got the Ultra stuff. And DH sucks at rubbing my back to help alleviate some of the discomfort.

I can go from 0 to bitchy in seconds. I think I scared my team lead yesterday.

Pregnancy brain has started. I had to warn my poor boss, who relies on me as his memory.

    • Nausea - I thought I was finally done with the morning (all day) sickness... last week I was FINE all week and then on Monday it hit me again and hasn't let up.  Afternoons are the worst.
    • Exhaustion - It's bad. I hit a wall around 3:00 each day and have zero energy for anything.  I fell asleep on the couch yesterday without meaning to.  Thankfully my 2 year old was napping safely in her crib and my 3 year old was occupied with playdoh on a table right behind me.  Scared the sh*t out of me to wake up and realize I was supposed to be paying attention to my kid though.  Oops.
    • Heartburn
    • Constipation, which has eased up a bit thanks to Colace and prunes.
    • Insonmia - This is by far my biggest complaint.  I'm in bed by 10 each night but wake up about a million times to pee or toss and turn and it takes me forever to fall back asleep.  I think I saw each hour last night.  I bought some Unisom this morning but I'm not expecting much.

  • @MamaWino I have been taking Unisom every other night it seems... and wow! It probably takes me about 20 minutes to fall asleep, but when I do, I am out! I was SUPER tired on Tuesday, but as soon as I got ready for bed I was awake. I figured I still need to go to sleep, this was around 9:30, so I took one and slept straight until 5am. My alarm goes off at 5:30, so I let myself fall back to sleep for a bit. It's been a lifesaver, especially on the nights when I have Night Sickness and just want to sleep.

But I'm also getting increasingly anxious  I am tired, I think more than normal but I have a crazily energetic 2yo, so that's par. I'm not having the traditional nausea/vomiting but no food sounds good whatsoever and I'm having to force myself to eat. That's it..... (anxiously awaiting my next appt on 5.31)

I am very sleepy... of course.

My boobs are tender, but not straight up aching like last time.

  • @Kacie209 and @dmontgo, here's hoping!  I've dealt with insomnia since my early 20s and have been an Ambien taker for years so I'm not holding much hope for the Unisom but I need to try something!  This insomnia is NOTHING like what I've dealt with in the past.  Of course it doesn't help that my 2 and 3 year olds still like to wake up in the middle of the night occassionally.  I'll sleep again someday, right?  Lol

  • My nausea is decreasing too, thank goodness. Still coming and going and the zofran not helping but it did totally constipate me to the point where I need an intervention, stat. Oh the beauty of pregnancy.
  • *MS has ramped up and I'll have days where I want to eat absolutely everything, and then days where I'm puking  and nauseous all day. "Morning" sickness my tushie!

I can't take a full tablet or I have a hangover effect in the Am so I take 3/4 of a tab. I fall asleep within 20 mins or so usually. If I only take a half or don't take it I'm awake for an hour or two tossing and turning. Hope it works for you!!

  • Okay, baby is seriously kicking my tail today! FI's best friend from high school graduated from college and moved back to where we live this past week, and to celebrate they are on a boys' weekend camping and such. They're only about two hours away, so not that far in case there was an emergency and they needed to head back. This is definitely not an emergency but I have been throwing up all day! Up until now I've only thrown up once and that was when I was 7 weeks and on a girls' weekend in Dallas. Now I'm 11 weeks and FI is gone on his little camping trip. I hate being sick, but I hate it even more when FI isn't here. :(
