Baby Names

Hey there...help me decide between these two names.

One day I think we're set and then the next day I've completely flipped to our other name choice. H likes both equally....

We have a Brady Michael and a Nolan Jacob. Boy #3 has thrown us for a loop. We have narrowed it down to the following:

Maddox Joel and Wyatt Joel.

Pros of Wyatt...love it with my boys' names. I'm OCD about names sounding like they go together. Love the name in general. Cons...it is a western/cowboy-ish type name, though it doesn't sound like it to me. We have someone at our church that two of my siblings and their families are very close with (spend time together multiple times a week) who has a little boy named Wyatt. It bugs me that half of my family is super close to someone named Wyatt already. Another con is that it's rising in popularity.

Pros of Maddox...love the name. We can call him Max if we wanted. It's a surname just like my other two. It's not popular, though it is trendy but I don't really care about that. I love love surnames. Cons...to me it doesn't go with Brady and Nolan at all and it's bugging me.

Ok talk to me ladies...which would you pick and why. Go!

  • Wyatt. I just don't care for Maddox. Like you said, Wyatt goes better with your sibset.

  • Wyatt.

But honestly,  Joel is better then both of them.

Wyatt, goes best with your sibset. I'm OCD about that too :)

  • Isn't Wyatt really popular right now? That's the biggest thing holding me back. Maybe I just need a new name altogether! Sigh.

  • I would vote for Joel if that were an option for first name. Brady, Nolan, and Joel are nice together. Between Wyatt and Maddox, definitely Wyatt.

If you don't really love Wyatt, how about Wesley? I think it sounds a little more classic, and works nicely with your sibset.
  • What about using Max as the first name? I like it better than Maddox or Wyatt, and I also like the sound of Brody, Nolan and Max. Having a monosyllabic name in there does something neat to the sibset.
  • Joel Wyatt
    Joel Maxwell
    or Wyatt Joel.

I don't think Max makes sense from Maddox and Max is much nicer.  Maddox sounds trendy to me.  If you have reservations about Wyatt then I'd go with Joel which sounds great with your sibset.
  • Wyatt!

  • I agree Joel actually pairs best with your boys names.

Wyatt is very country and I actually don't think it pairs that great. Maddox is actually a huge GP name of mine but again it doesn't really go with with your boys. Brady and Nolan while surnames are main stream first names as well.

  • So I do like Joel. The only "rule" with our names is that the middle name has to be a Bible name. So we'd just have to find a middle name that flows well. Joel Matthew? Joel Thomas? I also love Finn. My conundrum with Finn is that I can't use Joel as a middle name. It would need to be Finn Matthew or something with a longer middle name. Thoughts?

Wyatt or Joel.  I have never liked Maddox.  Maybe it's just me, but it will never NOT make me think of mid 90's Atlanta Braves pitcher Greg Maddux.  Even though that is spelled differently.  I just don't like the sound of Maddox, and I don't think it lends itself to the nickname Max.

Maxwell would be a good option if you want to use Max though.  Or even just Max.

I like Finn also. I think you could do Finneas Joel, Finley Joel, or Finnegan Joel and use the nn Finn. Joel as a fn would still get my vote.
  • I like pp suggestion of Finneas Joel nn Finn
