@WishilivedinfloridaI have definitely experienced additional weight and acne in my post-loss body. I have chalked some up to the steroid I am on, but it started before I was even taking that, so it can't all be that. At one point a while back, I was talking to my ob/gyn about being disappointed that I was carrying some extra weight (~10 lbs) and she referenced the losses and the havoc they can play on your body.... She seemed to think it was likely related and told me to not beat myself up over it.
I held steady at 180 for a long time until all this, but since my series of losses I have been as high as 191 and at one point, just before my last loss had managed to get down to 176 but it all came back after. Partly because of the hormones/body changes and partly because I let go of good habits and allowed myself to indulge... Now my steady seems to be right around 183.
It's just another fun side effect that we get to manage on top of all the other ones. Good times.

I'm so glad the weight/bloat issue was brought up @Wishilivedinflorida. I'm sorry it's happening to you. Ever since my loss, i have a hell of a time getting my rings on and off and have given up wearing my engagement ring altogether fearing it'll get stuck. i haven't gained weight but i'm so bloated and i have started a diet/work out routine about 6 weeks and have yet to see results. so frustrating!

@brooklyngirl18 yes to the rings!! I mostly wear my wedding band because my engagement is so tight lately. @Wishilivedinflorida I gained maybe 6ish lbs during my pregnancy I lost at 9 weeks and after it seemed to have gained another 6-7 that won't budge. I am back to paleo/PCOS diet and running again and it's almost impossible. I think all the hormones from everything are making it impossible for my body to figure out what is going on. Glad I'm not alone
I am going to take that as a good omen, @reneeannemm! The blood draw is two days after our 7th anniversary and 10 days before my own birthday, so it would be a great gift!
The reality is that I have had so many "wouldn't it be great if it all worked out" moments/stories/plans around pregnancy/due date timing that I try really hard not to build up the expectations that much (which is way easier said than done, right?!). Sigh.... we shall see.

3. Rant: DH was hospitalized on Wednesday after a sudden onset of sepsis from a tiny tiny cut that got infected and then they discovered on Friday that he also has a flesh eating bacteria (as described by the infectious disease specialist) on his leg. It is so scary when the doctors start telling you about fatality rates and amputation options. Hopefully he will be out of the woods soon and come home with all his limbs. I'm exhausted and worried and just sort of operating on auto-pilot. It doesn't help that I'm the on-call attorney at my office this week because everyone else is traveling or otherwise already unavailable.
Raves: My in laws have been very helpful and bring me a meal every few days to make sure I'm eating and DH's sister is a doctor at the hospital so she has been stopping in and helping us understand what the doctors are saying. My family is very far away but offering lots of support from afar. My work is also letting me do a lot from the hospital so I only have to really come in for appointments.
I'm also happy that DH is taking this seriously and has agreed to go on a healthier diet when he comes home so he can try to be healthier in general and avoid future hospitalizations as much as possible (not that it is related to this at all, but he has a generally poor diet and I want him to be healthy!).
4. Potatoes: I'm a big fan of sweet potato fries and just about any type of tater tot. Mmm...I think I have some frozen tater tots that I really want to make now.
@Wishilivedinflorida I've also had 4-5 pounds I can't seem to lose and I have more acne than before. I have PCOS so I usually have some on my face, but the neck/back/chest is new and I never had it before! I thought it was just me - not that I wish it on anyone else. I've just been trying to eat lower oil/grease/fat foods and use my face routine on those areas, too, but it really sucks for now.
@mandi135 Wow, I'm sorry to hear that. Hope he's feeling better soon. Take care of yourselves!

@brooklyngirl18 and @SnobunnieMel It is super crappy to work hard and not see results. I totally sympathize. Usually when I am running regularly and working out almost daily like I am now I drop pounds pretty fast. I could be gaining muscle, but I'm not feeling any trimmer. My body fat trouble areas have seemed to shift positions as well. I would love to blame hormones, so I will. I haven't been following strict paleo by any means, but I've cut out a lot of refined carbs and added sugars recently, overall just eating cleaner. No alcohol, drink water almost exclusively. Just need to give it more time I guess. Sigh.
It's so sad that we have had these losses and still have repercussions and negative effects after the fact. It's horrible to not feel pregnant but not feel normal, either. *hugs* to everyone today.

That's great @catiecatp ! My sister moved to San Antonio 2 years ago and loves it there. It has a thriving economy and a good cost of living. She recently just purchased a house for $350k that would easily be 800k where I live in the North East. I'll ask her, her opinions on the other stuff you mentioned and let you know.
@catiecatpI don't know much about San Antonio except it and Austin (which is really close to SA) are the only two places I've ever considered living in TX, but that's just based on their reputations. I realize that this could be considered a completely worthless opinion since I've never been there now that I think of it, but I'm gonna leave it.
I'm pretty sure @SnobunnieMel is from Texas (but it's a big state and I don't know which part).
congrats and good luck!

@fivetimesnoluck i did indeed spend much of my younger life in Texas. I am from Fort Worth/Dallas area. San Antonio is a really cool growing town that is great on culture much like Austin. As far as I know cost of living is relatively low as compared to Austin or Houston. Great historic scene and some of the best food you can find. Much like any large cities neighborhoods are all about finding a good pocket. Unfortunately I don't have any friends there to know what those are. It is one of he better places in Texas to move to in my opinion (but then again I left the state )
i would for for sure consider a job there a great opportunity. Congrats.
@bornready@fivetimesnoluck and @SnobunnieMel - thanks for these opinions - I really appreciate it. Knowing it is a place you'd consider moving is a great vote of confidence @fivetimesnoluck - we've heard good things about Austin. The issue for us is that the news we get that relates to the US is skewed - we're likely hearing a lot of the bad things and the sensationalist scary stuff from the perspective of a Canadian.
The people on the committee were really collegial with each other and seem to be friendly - which is a great sign. The potential salary sounds low to me (though I got that digging on Google for old documents, not from them), but if the cost of living is low we can swing a single income for awhile. DH may need/want to go back to school, and all our savings are in Canadian dollars (and the exchange rate is very poor right now). I'm feeling great from the interview and the follow up call - I really nailed some of the questions and that is always an ego boost.

@catiecatp if the school is part of the state government, which a lot of community colleges are, salaries may be found online. They are available that way for state employees in Georgia. Google Texas state employee salaries. You can search by name or position in the database for Georgia.
Edit to add: do you know how hot San Antonio can get?! And have you ever experienced humidity? If not, try to schedule your visit as late in the summer as possible so that you can really see/feel/know what it's like.
I live in SE Georgia, so I live in it and I love it but not everyone does.

@fivetimesnoluck - Thanks for the suggestion. The issue with colleges is that it is hard to estimate my salary because I need to know base pay rates and all the salary steps - I could potentially see a salary for a professor, but if I don't know their seniority it won't give me a sense of what I could expect to be offered... It is an interesting resource so I tried it out regardless, I couldn't find the college or the college district, and when I looked up one of the people on the interview committee she didn't show up either.
I have no idea how hot San Antonio can get - and we aren't fans of hot weather, Calgary gets to about 85-87F maximum in the summer... so I'm sure it will be a shock - but so long as we can get a break with air conditioning we'll find a way to survive I hope... I'll be visiting right after memorial day weekend - that is as late as I feel comfortable pushing it. DH is currently laughing about not having to fix the block heater in the car...
---TW BFP and MC mentioned - scroll down past the Lilo and Stitch gif to avoid ---
What @catiecatp I had no idea Calgary had such mild summers! Winnipeg can have very hot summers, but they're dry. The spring I moved to Montreal it was above 40 C from early May until Mid September most every day- and the humidity was often above 80%. I slept on my balcony which I turned into a private, romantic fort, so as not to DIE.
Is there anything on Glassdoor about the college? Oh and you can compare some stats on cities at this website, like how safe people report feeling and the cost of life. I used it comparing Toronto and Montreal before we moved here and have found my findings to be mostly true (Toronto is slightly safer, groceries and restaurants are cheaper, but rent is not even comparable etc).
Edit: one letter makes a big difference

@catiecatp that sounds like a great opportunity; even if you don't end up moving there it is always nice to practice interview skills.
Thanks everyone for the well wishes. They are letting DH recover from home now, so I am putting together a little station downstairs for him so he can have everything he needs and not get up except for the bathroom. He's still on a ton of medication and a strict diet, so I am still doing a lot of work and probably more than I was before but at least he is well enough to be released. We have a ton of follow up appointments and he still can't work, which sucks since he doesn't qualify for short term disability yet, but I am so relieved and happy that his immune system has kicked into gear.
I'm not sure if we'll be able to try at all while I'm ovulating sometime in the next few days, but I'm not as stressed about that as I thought I'd be.
@mandi135So sorry you're going through this, but glad he's coming home! How scary - from something seemingly so minor!
@catiecatpI did not think about all of the nuances involved in salary for faculty. Like PP said, interviews are good for practice and boosting confidence so hopefully it will be a great experience regardless of the outcome. And as for the heat - don't worry! Air conditioning is ubiquitous in the southern US. You won't go without. Late May/early June will be a great time to see what it's like! Congrats again - excited for you!

@catiecatp I did not think about all of the nuances involved in salary for faculty.
