My breasts are finally adjusting to breastfeeding. I made great use of some Avent nipple shields and Avent hot/cold packs to help with cracking, bleeding, engorgement and random hard spots.I think they have also evened out and My left breast isn't filling up faster than the right anymore. Waking up with one giant boob every morning was getting old, fast.
Lucine is still gassy. I tried moving her feet in a bicycle motion and it made her fart a few times and I tried some belly massaging as suggesting in the Newborn Questions thread. Hopefully that combined with burping will help her out.
On the subject of burping . . . I still don't know what I am doing wrong. DH doesn't like the pat on the back way and says it "jars her organs too much" even when its only a light tap. He prefers rubbing her back in circles which seems to do nothing. I tried the lap/circle method again this morning but It didn't do much.
My midwife will be visiting today so maybe she can show me what I am doing wrong with burping.
My C-section wound is oozing in one spot . . . is that normal? It still hurts there too.
DH gets up at 5am for work and leaves around 6:30. He is usually home at 5 - 5:30pm. Tomorrow night his work place is having dinner out at an Italian place to celebrate finishing a roll-out of product to Mobil . . . He is going straight from work and won't be home till 10pm maybe. I am really envious. I want to go to a nice Italian place.
I HATE huggies diapers. I initially bought a pack of Treasures to try ( is that a NZ only brand? ) Huggies were on massive sale so I bought them as well to try out and it was blow out after blow out even though there wasn't much poop. Her legs might just be too thin for them or something but MAN she got poo on about 6 onsies before I switched back to treasures and it's all fine again.
I put on my maternity jeans this morning for the first time PP and wowza they are big on me! Obviously they would be baggier on my tummy but they even feel a bit loose on my thighs.
Jones, my kitty, seems to have come around. He will actually look at LO now. He went up to her the other day and she reached out and touched his leg and he just walked away calmly instead of running away like a freak. I hope they become great pals later on.
My bleeding as almost stopped. Its comparable to an extremely light period now.
3. A family from my hometown had their daughter go missing for four days last week and she was found and brought home on Mother's Day. She was a victim of attempted child sex trafficking. It caused me to do some research on the topic and I had NO idea how prevalent it is in the US. I encourage everyone to read up on it and educate themselves on the signs of trafficking and the tactics of these horrible people. It is happening more than we know!
I second this. I was shocked when I realized how common this is in the US and even the city I live in. It's disgusting.

SO scary and disgusting. They seem do sting operations out here in Denver when there are big events in town and busted a ring this year at the 420 celebration and last year (or maybe even the year before) at the National Western Stock Show. I mean, the rodeo?! Something my Dad went to every year as a kid and I look forward to taking my children to? Just. SICKENING.
1. I had a baby since the last ten things! 2. Currently sitting in the rocker in the nursery just staring at LO as he naps. Best feeling ever. 3. Currently having issues breastfeeding. My milk came in very quickly and I became very engorged while at the hospital and bc of that LO wouldn't latch. I'm still engorged quite often and have to pump to relieve some of the pressure. After which I then try to nurse with LO but he has such a lazy latch and gets frustrated. I have no issues if I need to end up exclusively pumping, but I'm getting a lot of crap from my doula and midwife about how I'm missing out on a bonding experience... I kinda feel offended bc I still feel like I can bond with LO feeding him otherwise. I'd love to be able to BF but his health is priority. Obviously I'm still going to meet with them for some consultation, I just don't appreciate the judgement. 4. I really needed to get that rant out. Judgment never ends I guess. 5. MIL is stopping by with some freezer meals she made us last week while we were in the hospital. Kind of excited. 6. It took entirely too long to pick up my new prescriptions today. DH did great though while I had to wait. He's such an amazing dad. He cares about me and LO so much. 7. Speaking of which in the almost 14 years I've been with DH I have literally never seen him cry. He's not a terribly emotional person. In the past week I've seen it twice. Once when I was told I would have to have a c-section bc he was scared and I didn't get my natural birth I wanted and again when LO was born. 8. The dog is kind of afraid of the baby. He looks at him and just kinda backs away. Occasionally barks. On the upside LO is not phased by the barking in the slightest. 9. We might be visiting work on Friday after one of my appointments to let some people see LO. I left so abruptly and some people were worried. I mostly just want to get out of the house. Also we're the first couple ever in the history of the company where both people work there and had a baby... It's kind of exciting to some people. Lol. 10. I have to log on and add baby to my insurance. Yayy $200 extra a month.
@KurrantAccording to my dr oozing is a sign of possible infection, I'd get it checked out ASAP. About burping - I finally got some good burps out of Holly this afternoon by putting her up higher over my shoulder than I had been. It works best if her stomach is at my shoulder vs her shoulders at my shoulder which is how I'd been doing it, if that makes sense. I'm still shocked at how hard it is, I never thought I'd have such issues with burping!
What an incredible day for your family @TXmamatobe !! Also, are you eating Annie's organic fruit snacks? The little bunnies? They are SO good. DD isn't good at sharing yet, lol, but sometimes I'll sneak one before I give her a pack

I got the same thing when I mentioned pumping the side that my son struggles to latch on- it's producing milk just not as much as my massive other breast that he loves. Lots of play through the pain type stuff. It feels to me like if you CAN breastfeed people want you to ONLY do that and there isn't a lot of support around wanting or needing a variation on EBF.

The purple packs are the best!
Yes and I do love the purple packs! Red is pretty good, too.
@dsmith211 I have had similar BFing issues with both of my kids so far. DD didn't latch until she was 3 weeks old, during which time I was exclusively pumping, and we didn't sort out all of our BFing issues until 2 months. For DS, I had to pump when my milk came in because he refused to latch, and we're still working out the issues from that. All that to say, you still have time if you decide you want to BF without having to EP. But don't let anyone guilt you for however you decide to feed your baby!
1. DS2 is 9 days old! 2. He's surprising me with his neck control. He can already lift his head during tummytime to look at me and change the direction of his head. Do all babies do this so soon and I've forgotten or is this maybe a breech baby silver lining? 3. DS1 is so cute with DS2. Melts me daily. 4. DH is adorable with both of them and really rocking bedtime with DS now. He also rocked Mother's Day this year. 5. The bellefit is awesome. It makes my incision feel so supported. 6. We had our first true nursing in public situation today with DS2 (I don't count the dr. office or Target's parking lot). I'm relieved that it went well! My first time with DS ended in embarrassed tears. 7. This baby is a poop machine! So far, his personality is so different from DS1. 8. I am thirsty all.the.time. 9. Weight check tomorrow! At his day 3 appointment, he was back up to birth weight, so I'm interested to see what he gained since this most recent clusterfeeding set of days. 10. I really want it to stop raining for a day so that I can take DS1 to the park. Poor guy has been cooped up inside for most days since his brother has been born and he has some serious energy to burn!
1. I tried typing out 10 things earlier and it got erased.
2. I felt really productive today. LO is 8 days old. I was dressed with make up on and out the door by 7:30 with both kids. Dropped off DD#1 and her science project, went to work and worked for 3 hours with the baby, went grocery shopping and put dinner in the crockpot.
3. LO is fairly easy so far. I'm FF but I'm hoping it continues.
4. My daughter loves showing off her sister. And my husband is amazing with the baby. Such an amazing feeling that our family is complete.
5. Can't wait to start working out again. Need to go for walks daily to start.
6. Can't wait for DD#1 to get out of school in a couple weeks so I have over a month with her before I return to work. Can't wait to do fun stuff!
1. @Jenly17 I think boy names are the hardest to come up with. When we had DS1 we had a few names picked out and when he was born DH and I both agreed that he looked like a "Sawyer" to us. You'll choose the perfect name. 2. Being a hermit seems to be the theme among us ladies. If I'm outside and see someone walking up the road I will walk inside until they pass and then go back out. Yeah, I'm rude. 3. I ran out of fresh pineapple...I'm pretty sad about that. Thanks for sharing your picture @swflJD I will vicariously live through you. 4. I'm a little stressed about being due the 23rd and my kids finishing up school without me being there to cheer them on. They are having lots of field trips and celebrations and "graduating" Kindergarten. 5. I told DH that when the 30th rolls around I want him to take the boys and my family (who are planning to help) out on the boat, BBQ, and enjoy memorial day weekend... with or without me (unless I'm in labor he can do it another day). I just want them to have SOME fun when they are here. I love him. He is pretty excited about doing that. 6. I really need to put all of our clothes away. They are starting to pile up and it's driving me crazy. 7. As a mom of almost 4... my experience with having people "help" and "watch" the older kids is that their routine will most likely be thrown off for awhile and then they will go back to it. It's tough sometimes but you're the parent and it's not going to be like that forever unless you allow it to continue afterwards. 8. Here's something random: Tomorrow is National "eat what you want" Day. To celebrate I'm contemplating making a peanut butter chocolate pie... mostly because I have all the stuff for it in my cupboards. 9. My gf that goes to the gym with me keeps telling me how the old ladies there are missing me. It's cute. I really can't work out very much since experiencing PSD so instead of overdoing it I'm letting my body relax...and most likely eat pie. 10. Man, I really want that pie now.

Thank you for saying this. I've been stressing a bit about how things will change but this is reassuring and just what I needed to hear!
1. I cannot stop eating, it's seriously getting disgusting.
2. I am 41+3 and I am officially tired of going to see the doctor and getting these nst's every week.
3. I am even more tired of everyone asking me if I feel different, if my back hurts, if I have any contractions yet, why hasn't he come yet, have I tried sex, walking upstairs, jogging, acupuncture, etc. Please just go away lol.
4. Tomorrow I will have a definitive date as to when I will be induced- I hope my dr doesn't say this Friday- which is the 13th. I'm not superstitious, but I don't know that I want my LO born on Friday the 13th lol, it's a little weird.
5. My DH has the most beautiful blue eyes I've ever seen and I keep wondering if my LO will be lucky enough to have them as well
6. I have officially binge watched the entire series of Dexter, The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead. I just saw the first episode of Better Call Saul tonight which was slow to start- but it picked up towards the end.
7. Me and the DH tried out this new Italian restaurant in the neighborhood and it was really good- I had chicken Marsala, which I am still thinking about now and could probably eat another order of it lol.
8. I feel like I have been pregnant forever and I cannot wait to be able to fit into my regular clothes again.
9. Someone bought me a cute little hooded terry robe for LO and I can't wait to put it on him
10. It's not even Tuesday anymore- it's 3:18 am Wednesday morning and I can't sleep for shit! Lol
@Nicbert1214 I'm with you in the can't stop eating boat! You'd think I wouldn't have room but I'm finding it apparently. Also #4 I told my DH I want the baby to come Friday and he said no way! Haha! My birthday is on the 13th of a different month so I thought it would be neat. I wasn't born on a Friday though.

I feel for all of you that are overdue! I was overdue with DD and it was maddening. Just realize that you're developing good patience that comes with having a newborn...er a child in general, haha. Also, even if you're induced on Friday the 13th, baby might not arrive til Saturday, you never know! Good luck @Nicbert1214!

That's my due date! To be honest- I'm ok with that because my Uncle was born on Friday the 13th (but in October) and he is one of the most charismatic and successful people I know- and ridiculously generous. I know that probably has nothing to do with his birthday and everything to do with his personality- but still.
@vs2016 seriously right?! I really don't know where I am putting all this food lol! But it's like a never ending pit! Really? My DH thought it was funny and said if he is born on Friday- we have to change his middle name from James to Jason lol. @jenly17 that's a good point actually- I was thinking about that too, I'm just hoping it's quick at this point lol. And as for the developing patience- you are so right! These people are driving me mad and I think I've been doing a really good job of exercising patience with them lol. @bookelf221 is it? Do you think you will give birth that day? I guess if you can associate a person you love with that day then it's all good- for me I can just associate those stupid movies lol. I guess I will find out later today if my doctor is superstitious though lol!
@Nicbert1214 I have no idea! I'm kinda hoping she comes today or tomorrow, partially because I'm ready to be done- partially because my hubby is driving me insane asking me if I'm ok with every facial expression or noise I make lol. He's just a little anxious. It helps that I've never seen the movies- I don't do anything remotely scary- well except vampires/werewolf movies because they are very easy for me to just dismiss as not possible.
@bookelf221 ha ha I know exactly what you mean! My DH has been asking me "he's coming?" "Are you in labor?!" For the past 2 months everytime a make a peep LOL! My doctor just scheduled me for induction tonight @ 8 so I guess he will be here before Friday afterall lol. Yea I don't like scary movies either- but the Friday the 13th movies were all the rage when I was younger and my sister used to make me watch them with her, yuck! Good luck with your LO, I hope she comes soon, looking forward to seeing pictures

@bookelf221 is it? Do you think you will give birth that day? I guess if you can associate a person you love with that day then it's all good- for me I can just associate those stupid movies lol. I guess I will find out later today if my doctor is superstitious though lol!
I have no idea!
