  • I've been having stomach "cramps" all morning (since 8:30am, it's now 11:30am) and I've had diarrhea. (I was going to say TMI, but what's the point!) I thought it was just stomach cramps from my stomach issues (I have issues with my stomach from time to time when I eat the wrong foods, thanks to ibuprofen messing my stomach up a couple of years ago) but now I don't think it is because my stomach is getting hard when it happens, so I am assuming contractions. I had my appointment with the midwife this morning and told her what was going on and she got really excited. She felt his position and said he has dropped and is in the perfect position. She told me, "now go home and PACK YOUR HOSPITAL BAG!!" She said, "we might see you next week, we might not!" So I don't know what this is. It's seriously uncomfortable though. We shall see, I guess. I am going to type up my birth plan, just incase and DH is going to print it out at work today.
This is me today too.  I'm not expecting it's going to actually turn into anything since I'm not due til the 28th, but I'm definitely feeling crampy, nauseous and like it might just be that I need to poop.  I have a Dr appt at 3:30 so we'll see what happens between now and then.

It was not fun. It lasted from 8:30am to just after 1:00pm but stopped and now there is nothing. I don't know if my stomach was just upset or what. I did get my hospital packed though, just incase. lol Now he can wait until he is actually due!

    @yogahh so exciting!! Good luck!!!!
  • @yogahh - I would be all for boring labor ;-) hope you get to meet Harper soon!

Our hospital bags are now a pile of stuff on the floor. We keep packing and unpacking because we use some things frequently. Here's hoping we don't have to quickly pack or my organized butt is screwed....
  • @yogahh Good luck!! I hope your labor stays boring and Harper arrives quickly.

Now that DH and I have FINALLY decided on a name, I'm glad to know it didn't make the SSA top 10 list but I'm also happy that it's in the top 60.  While I didn't want LO to have the same name as 10+ other kids in his homeroom class, I have an unusual name that everyone has a hard time spelling and pronouncing, and I vowed not to do that to my kid!  Here's the 2015 SSA data if anyone is interested: https://www.ssa.gov/oact/babynames/#&ht=2

I heard Friday the 13th is also a full moon. L&D is going to be nutso, I'm sure!

My my mom was a L&D nurse for many years and always said full moons made for wild nights.

I don't think the full moon is until next weekend. (The 21st)

Good call. I saw it on Facebook and didn't fact check. Thank you!  My DD is the 19th, so I'm more likely to be there then.

There was a new moon on May 6th that was supposed to be one the best new moons of the year. That energy lasts around 10 days, according to my trusted online astrologist I plan my entire life around.

    Joking....

  • @lizChesnut I'm considering doing one on my due date if I haven't started labor yet. And maybe at my 39 week appointment, but most likely not. The thread here has really made me feel like they don't tell you anything helpful, and that they can cause spotting/cramping and be uncomfortable, so I'm not seeing any real reason to.

I'm home and not at work (yaaaaay vomiting) so I get to listen to DH and his cousin trying to put together the baby's Ikea dresser in another room... good thing it's not me in there right now is all I can say!

This is going to sound strange, but I love putting IKEA furniture together..Actually I love assembling most things. For some reason, It's  really relaxing for me.
  • My doula is coming over for a postpartum visit tomorrow. I feel like I'm going to get chastised bc LO is really lazy about breastfeeding and his latch. He'll try and actually has a pretty good latch, do it for a second, and then sit there and stop. Then cry bc he's starving. I was pretty excited earlier bc it seemed like maybe I was making progress... Not so much. So I've had to pump and bottle feed, which I think might be making it worse. However it was that or letting him go hungry. So hopefully she has some things I can try. And hopefully without judgement.

On the plus side, supply is definitely currently not an issue. DH is absolutely amazed. Lol.

I'm so hot all the time. It's like my body cannot regulate at all lately. I just want to go back to my old freezing cold self.
Same here!! Poor DH keeps complaining that I'm freezing him, even though we have AC set at between 73-75. I'm burning up!!!
  • @jenly17 @folamij saaaame here! I've been freezing my husband out every night and I'm still never comfortable

37+5 and I still have yet to pack my hospital bag....  Please tell me I'm not alone.  I'm really dragging my feet because last time I overpacked and when the time comes, I will have to wait for my MIL to come before I can go to the hospital so I can pack then right?  :S
  • arj14arj14 member
@Jenly17 haha I don't think it's usually this bad!  The crib and changing table were apparently no trouble,  but apparently the dresser box was missing at least one piece of backing and the directions were really bad.  DH brought it all down to the basement and refuses to have anything more to do with it so my dad is going to take a look tomorrow.  He has more Ikea experience anyway!

@vs2016 - you're definitely not alone!  I know it needs to get done (and soon, I'm just two days behind you) but I am seriously dragging my feet.

  • @VS2016 I'm also 37w5d today and just started packing my bag. I know things could start any minute but I'm still convinced I'll go at least to my due date, so having more than two weeks to go seems like plenty to get packed. I mean, I could be totally wrong but that's not really registering in my brain yet.

I was due on Monday and finished packing on Sunday. I felt like I had a really good excuse! The things I wanted to pack were also my favorite things to wear. I should say, they are *still* my favorite things to wear as it is now Thursday and no baby yet!

@vinerie that's part of my problem too! That and I use a lot of the stuff I want to bring daily, so those items have to wait anyway.
  • The closer I come to my c-section date (Tuesday), the more angry and unpleasant I am becoming. Anyone else?

@VS2016 I was 38 weeks Monday and just started packing my bag. I'm not done, but at least most of the stuff I will probably need is in there... I think.

I don't have a scheduled c-section, but I am also feeling a whole wide range of emotions about this LO and all of the changes that are about to occur. I'm gonna say that what you're feeling is normal! It's your nerves, mama. Everything is going to be ok.
I'm also having some mood swings. Nothing crazy, but I'll go from feeling a bit sad to lighthearted and jovial for no reason. Yesterday morning I was feeling down...I don't like the not knowing when he will come part. Then we met with the dr., who spent a lot of time with us, spelling out each scenario. I walked out of the office walking on air, I was so happy. The more info I have, the better I feel, it seems.

Is this a bad idea? I was thinking of getting DH baseball tickets for Father's Day and he can go with my dad to a game one night. It'll be about 2 weeks after delivery. So I know he'll love the night out and the normalcy and meanwhile, I'll be home with the newborn and our 3YO. How hard will the evening routine be by myself at that point? Hm...
  • See, your comments made me weepy now @Jenly17 and @vinerie, although I am glad I am not the only one. I am very excited to meet baby boy, but I think it's the nerves of knowing he is going to be okay and also the fact that I will be in surgery. I don't care for pain, but still!

Thanks for your comments! Soon this will be all over and we will be enotional for completely different reasons!
