After 2 weeks of intensifying false labor complete with over 4 hrs of hard contractions last night, I bought a pineapple. It's sitting cored in the fridge at the moment as I decide if I want to gamble OWT against what will likely be the worst heartburn of this pregnancy if I eat the whole thing. This was the day gestationally that my water broke with DS...though trying to hold out until my rcs on Tuesday does seem more convenient, even if more painful in the meantime. I think I'm getting end-of-pregnancy crazy.

HA! I feel the same. Pineapple makes my throat scratchy, but if it works...might be worth it?

I really don't want to go early (still 2 weeks until my DD/induction), but I also really want to avoid induction. So I guess my confession is I am hoping this LO comes early. And I really hate when people hope for an early birth. But the whole concept of induction seems so horribly clinical. And lets face it- I am scared of the added pain. So this weekend I am eating pineapple and spicy food while bouncing on a ball, and taking walks. And when I get home from my walk, trying that new jalapeno suppository

I ate a whole pineapple last night, so no judgment here @kbrands7! While I don't want LO to come super early, at 38w5d I'm ok with him showing up this weekend, especially since my doctor is on vacation next week and I would have to see a doctor I've never met before. My doctor has 3 FTM's due the same day (I'm one of them) so she's secretly hoping one of us decides to go into labor early too! But so far, no luck

My FFFC is that I can't stand when people surrender animals for stupid reasons - "I don't have time for a cat" (Seriously, they are one of the lowest time consuming pets around!), "I decided I didn't want a pet", etc. I follow our local shelter on FB and a lady returned a cat after two weeks because she decided she didn't want a cat. I'm secretly glad that the cat is back because it can find a home that actually wants it, but I feel so bad for it at the same time! I also feel like the age-old "a family member became allergic" is just a copout excuse for many people (though some may actually be legit).

I told DH that since the kids have been pretty awesome lately I think that I will take them for ice cream after lunch today. I just really want ice cream regardless of their behavior. I think he's on to me.

I have a friend that recycles pet like toilet paper. It makes me SOOO mad. When she had her 1st baby, she sent the cats to the basement. Then moved them to a farm? She then brought a dog home one day on a whim, and a few weeks later, got rid of him. Makes my blood boil!! I have already told DH that we will NEVER get rid of our cat, even if the baby is allergic. She is a member of our family, and we will find a way to make it work.

When I see that someone is going into labor or starting their induction process, I haven't been saying good luck or anything because there's like 10 people that said it already. But I DO wish everyone good luck and healthy deliveries! So this is my blanket "good luck", "thoughts and prayers" to everyone!!

@yogahh - People have asked what we will do with our cats (we have 3) if LO is allergic. I said "I wouldn't get rid of LO if the cats became allergic, so why should it be different the other way around?" I understand that there are reasons for people to surrender pets but another that bothers me is when people get rid of their pets because they "can't" find a place to move to that allows pets. Really? Or do you just want to avoid paying a security deposit or trying to make it super easy on yourself?

I've been eating a ton of pineapple and spicy food and walking a bunch every day (because I walk to work, so this is not avoidable), and not hoping for labor to begin. I still need a few more days at work! But at the same time, I just want pineapple and spicy food, because people keep posting about it and I keep thinking "mmm that sounds good."

So far the OWTs have a 100% success rate of not doing anything. I'm starting to feel like I'm jinxing the rest of you. So uh I guess you can blame that on me (why not?) and that'll be my FFC for the week.

@Merciel - I'm with you. I don't want labor to begin, but some cold pineapple does sound delicious. I'm also still trying to walk 3 days a week for my mental sanity, but since it requires me getting up at 5:30am, it's one area I'm willing to give up for the sake of not going into labor.

I'm just now realizing how completely unhelpful my "home remedies" for inducing labor have been, despite everyone on this BMB warning us each week that there is no sure way to naturally induce labor. I just didn't want to hear it because I wanted my exercising, sex, and spicy food to magically make me go into labor. Apparently it's all been a waste because I haven't really progressed since my appointment last week and now my dr is insisting I be induced Monday night because LO is getting too big! I am a FTM and terrified of induction. My husband is pretty stoked to know we'll have our baby next week though.

I got a prenatal massage on Wednesday and I think the therapist broke a lot of rules. The massage pressure was pretty hard and she even rubbed my Achilles. My FFFC is it felt sooooooo good I decided right then and there on the table not to say anything...

ETA: Keeping with the theme of OWTs and whether they work, I did NOT go into labor on the massage table...I did, however, feel amazing afterwards!

My cat's former owner had adopted her from the shelter, then decided two months later she didn't want her anymore. Sounds really similar to the story you read on FB (although my cat's former own did keep her a tad bit longer!) it all worked out for my cat because she now has a family that spoils her rotten

but then there's all the animals that get surrendered and DON'T have a happy ending! It makes me so mad/sad

My SIL and her husband BOTH gave up dogs to their parents about a year and a half ago. SIL didn't like his dog and vice versa. Guess who got a NEW dog this week.

Grrr.

We adopted a 10 year old lab off facebook in october bc of this reason...the owner was going to put her in a shelter bc she couldnt find a pet friendly place. A 10 year old lab in a shelter...yeah that would have ended well!!! So now she lives here.

My FFFC is that after a solid 7 days of false labor I feeling extremely depressed. I have a very hopeless, listless feeling & I'm pretty sure this baby is never coming.

I've spent most of my day today working on submitting requests to postpone my student loan payments while on leave. I don't really see myself being much more productive than this today.

Annoyed however, bc a little while back my Sallie Mae loans moved to Navient and they messed up my name - I had previously changed my loans at Sallie Mae from my maiden name to my married name and apparently when things got shuffled that did not carry over and they can't find the the documentation to confirm. So I have to go to the bank now where we keep all of our important docs in a safe deposit box, get my SS card and marriage license, scan in copies of those and my DL again, and send them to them before I can do anything. Of course this is my largest loan payment too so I can't just skip it... Boo.

I treated myself to Chick-Fil-A for lunch. I ordered a meal and had them replace the fries with a side salad. Then I ordered a small fry in addition. When I opened the bag, they had a small and medium fry. SCORE. I mean, I was trying to only be a little bad, but I can't let good fries go to waste.

Oh yeah, I have another confession that makes me a giant dbag. So Sunday is the anniversary of my brother's death, in addition to being my EDD, and my mom has been crying off and on for a week. And I just can't this year. I don't have the emotional brainspace to devote to either commiserating or trying to make her feel better. I'm too focused on this birthing a human business. I want to be supportive but really, I can't do the grief thing and the birth thing at the same time.

I completely understand this. I've lost 3 siblings and DS1 was born two days before the 10 year anniversary of my eldest brother's death. DS1 was my mom's first grandson so it actually helped her fill a void and he reminds her of her first born so there was a bit of bonding during that time. And then DS3 was born in 2014, a week before my other brother died and my mom hadn't even met our new baby yet. It was a lot to handle at the same time in both situations. My heart goes out to you guys.

On a similar note to the dog situation...people seem to think that it's okay to drop their dog off in my yard and then leave like I'm supposed to watch them and be responsible for them. Oh and this is without me or DH even knowing!? I'm already pet sitting for someone else but that was agreed to and I don't mind that at all. But seriously, just leaving your animal in my yard. Fuck no. Plus, the guy that just dropped his dog off is supposed to be leaving for a trip 600+ miles away today and when I called DH to see if he agreed to pet sitting he said he already told the guy absolutely not. I swear he better be back freakin asap before I lose my mind.

And... DH is totally against inductions and told me he doesn't want me to be induced THIS time. Of course I'm not planning to be induced but guys, I have been induced at 41 weeks for all 3 pregnancies due to whatever reason for whichever child. If I need an induction, I'm getting the induction. Is it painful? Yes. It's called labor for a reason...it sure as hell lives up to it's name.

Update on the pineapple: I ate the whole thing. No labor, but also no heartburn-- it actually wiped out the heartburn I had before eating it. I'm shocked!

I'm 39 weeks tomorrow, I'm trying ALLLL THE OWT!! The drama and cattiness at my work right now is unbelievable. Not exactly the way I wanted to go on maternity leave but good god, I am so done and I want LO here this weekend!! So, sorry not sorry coworkers but I'm ready to peace out for 10 weeks!

Also, I've been talking to my belly like a crazy lady. For example: "what do you think of a May 1st birthday? Sounds like a good day hm?". You know you're going labor crazy when you bargain with the baby....

@tgortney - I've totally been bargaining with LO. When he stretches constantly, I look at my belly and say "You know there's more room on the outside, right?".

@thismakes4 - I'm curious, what kind of yard situation do you have that people just drop them off??

I've been bargaining like crazy!! Today it was "there are some cool looking turtles out here!! You should really see them!" In a related matter, I'm the new crazy lady at the park.

Also we just went to dinner & I got my steak medium. I told him if he had a complaint about it he could come right out here and lodge a formal protest.

@rlworzalla Ok, let me start with my DH. He has been helping a guy clean up his property because his house burnt down and this guy had no insurance and is/was desperate for help. Well, now this guy is so dependent on DH, for example, borrowing our extra phone, asking for rides, money for food... etc. And I'm already upset with DH but really how can I get too upset with a guy whose just kind to everyone he meets, ya know?

As for my fence, it's 4 ft tall. The dog jumped my fence and the guy just drove off and left him here. I think that he thinks he can just leave his dog here because DH is super nice. Well, DH is pretty pissed about it. We live in a low income area and people are constantly asking DH for help, work, money, favors, etc. It's just a constant and apparently "normal" thing here which is why I'm trying to move asap.

ETA: My yard is a very small and fenced in. During the day I keep my gates unlocked because someone is usually here at all times and we also own 4 acres across the street from our place that we are starting our business on, hence, all the people around here asking for work because there is a lot of work to be done before building. DH is trying to bring the low income area up. We've met a lot of nice hard-working people but on the other hand we've also met our fair share of very poor, no work ethic, just-want-a-handout type of people.

Thanks! I've told him that so many times. I was being a bit sarcastic with him earlier saying "God forbid I go into labor and have this baby, the whole neighborhood would fall apart at my selfishness." At least we both got a good chuckle. I'm just not sure what to do with the dog. I can't watch him and he just jumps the gate anyways. Also, he's an asshole and terrorizes my 2 dogs.

My FFFC is that my in laws wanted to come "visit the baby" again. They live 3 blocks over. So, I first reminded them that DS has bath and bedtime starting at 7 (you know, that grandkid that already exists and needs to be acknowledged still) and then I only really agreed because they said they were bringing dinner too.

I don't even feel a little bit guilty.

Can you call animal control and say some dog jumped in your yard and you need them to come get him? Hopefully the guy will learn his lesson when he has to pay to get his dog back.

I was doing this so much and then I realized- he doesn't know what OUTSIDE is! Or clothes! Or cute whale pajamas mama got for him! How do you bargain with a creature that does not understand what you're willing to trade?
also, if you haven't gotten a prenatal massage do it! I had mine last week and it was nice to just feel comfortable for an hour and a half. Mind you I did have contraction every hour for five hours the next day.

Yeah, that's what we're going to have to do. The sad thing is that someone did the same thing to this dog. The previous owner just left the dog at this guys house and he hasn't even had him that long and then he dumps him here. As annoyed as I am the dog deserves better.

Wow, I can't even imagine. And I HATE when people say to me "I can't even imagine." I hope that your mom and your family has found a way to cope. For us it's been 3 years and my mom is still so incredibly angry and sad. I feel like her life is completely on hold. I can usually do an "ok" job at making her feel better...but this time not so much.

The most recent sibling will have been passed away for 2 years this June. I was really close with him. My mom still has a really hard time with that one because the last time she saw him was on Mother's day and she just feels like she failed him. It's so hard for a child to help a mother cope through it. I'm usually the one who helps her through it like you do with your mom. As a mother, that would be one of the hardest things to go through. Honestly, I couldn't even imagine.
