I feel like someone posted about this awhile back, but no one in my family had seen The Good Dinosaur, so we watched it last night as a family. Not only was I crying, but I looked over and my 6-year old daughter also had tears streaming down her face. My son and husband thought we were out of our minds.
@Ssoccerball- I haven't seen The Good Dinosaur, but the little characters are everywhere and super cute! My sister said that the Minions movie is now streaming on netflix.. I think E and I will watch that this weekend when we need some wind down time!! He will be cracking up!
I decided to incorporate DD in the Facebook announcement of the baby's sex. Clearly, I do not learn from my mistakes. Just like the announcement that we are expecting #2, getting one semi-good picture was painstaking. For me. Not her. She was having a great time.
@camichael84- Hence my Game of Life car token on the Its a Boy life chip spot! The gameboard sat perfectly still for me and even gave me time to adjust the lighting for the perfect pic
@AnnaS930 I'm not going to lie, I considered stealing the idea. In the end, I wanted to show off McKenna because I don't post a ton of pics of her on FB. I just keep underestimating how hard photographing a toddler is.
I took a day off TB and stayed home sick yesterday with a killer migraine/nausea combo. Came back to 3+ pages on this thread alone, you guys don't play around! I now cannot remember any of the people I meant to comment to, sorry about that. Good thoughts with people needing/that needed it, and yay for all the a/s' and good things that happened! (such a cop-out, I know- I really did think that as I was reading along though, promise!)
My BIL/SIL sent this aaaamazing onesie to us the other day. My 6 year old has gotten into a routine of playing video games with my husband and I, and my 3 year old participates as best as he can (holding the controller and gleefully squeaking at the TV) so they were both super excited!
@Thurstobertay- I always love pictures of tots (3 year olds) holding gaming controllers and "playing" along, only to see that the controller isn't plugged in, or doesn't have a battery pack in it. Super cute that your kiddos (at least the older one) really does play, I foresee a lot of "pretending" to play video games with dad in our future!
Does anyone read alphamom.com? Her pregnancy calendar is hilarious and she has a GREAT advice column. Nice break from all the super serious pregnancy info out there. I would love to hear about any others that you are reading!
@Sbrown721- I read Alpha Mom last time, I really enjoyed her personal experiences instead of the basic "this is what you should expect" type of thing. This pregnancy I'm just using the weekly Bump emails and Ovia - neither of which I'm terribly fond of, but it's working
I love the pace of this thread, reading all the conversations, and feel bad for rarely commenting back, especially when I have a question. For the longest time I really doubted if what I felt was baby, I'm pretty sure it is now. I only feel movement in this 20% area on bottom. Do you feel the baby everywhere, if not how much area do you?
@jhems776 At just over 22 weeks, all baby movements are still very, very low - pretty close to my pubic bone almost all of the time. Every once in a while, I feel something slightly higher but still nowhere near my belly button or above yet.
@jhems776 yep yep! Joining the party here. I feel baby pretty low and very rarely on the left side of my belly where there's no placenta between her and the uterus wall. 90% of the time I feel her close to my bladder or a couple inches below my belly button.
@jhems776- I feel low movement - a lot of which I feel like are cervix kicks.. they're just an odd feeling I can't describe any other way. When I sit at my desk I get a lot of high up movements, right above my belly button because I'm sitting up and everything is squished in there. Not much in between, just top or bottom, sometimes both if boy is wild. This has significantly picked up in the past week - 10 days, and I'm at 21.5 weeks
A/S day for me!! I feel lucky that it was first thing this morning so I didn't have to suffer through a work day first. Any way.... Baby is a.... Girl!!!!
We we are so excited, but it's funny because I was 100% convinced it was a boy. I'm so happy though and I know DH is too. The funny thing is that my family has only had girls for the past 3 generations so I should have expected it! Can't wait to buy all the girl things now
And after my scan I went to see my doc, and when she was listening to the HR, pressing down with the Doppler, I THINK I felt my first movement. Yay for today all around!
@SLou24 Yay for a great scan and for a baby girl on the way!!!! Also, how awesome that you may have felt your first movement - of many! Congrats on your all around great day!
Side note: Have you been feeling better!? No more scary episodes?
@jhems776 the movements I feel are super low and pretty centered, usually near the same area each time I feel something. I am still finding heartbeat on Doppler about 1.5 inches below belly button as well.
@SLou24- That's awesome! Somehow my brain had you as Team Green, so reading the sex in your post was an extra surprise for me! Congratulations on an all around great Friday - any chance you're heading off to the Sox tonight? I seem to remember you mentioning a baseball game earlier in the week but, to be honest - it could have been someone else entirely!
I'm already getting cankles when I walk a lot. I'm trying to put my feet up when I'm home (not so easy to do outside of the house) but if I spend the whole day outside I'm typically walking and my ankles get very swollen at the end of the day. A couple of nights ago, they were so swollen that there was a purple/bluish indentation line made by the socks, so I'm now wearing DH's socks if I'm wearing sneakers. The nice weather has me out and about and walking more so I can stay active but the cankles are ew
@JennM205 thanks for asking! I've been better the past couple days-- and have been snacking more frequently and guzzling water like a maniac. I asked my doctor about it today and she wasn't concerned, just said to stay on top of hydration and if it becomes worse or more regular to call them.
@AlwaysAuntNeverMom- I won't be far behind you. I took off my shoes last night and my toes were very swollen.. ankles might have been to but they were slide ons so I didn't have socks to show the indent I've made it a point to keep my feet up under my desk today. I have a feeling I will be seeeeeriously limiting salt over the summer as the swelling increases!
@AnnaS930 thanks!! Definitely not team green here-- I had to know! And I was at the Sox game last night, good memory! It was a super fun night, except for the loss. But I'll take any chance I can get to go to Fenway, I love it there so much!
@SLou24 - awesome! For some reason I thought they were away last night.. shows how much I pay attention when I watch the games. Fenway is awesome, we might get the little man there this year - we do a lot of the Portland Sea Dogs games up our way (AA affiliate of the Sox) since the game are within 20 minutes of us, and tickets are $8, hahaha. He went to his first game at just shy of 4 months and hit up a handful of others throughout last Summer including the minor league All-Star game! With his deep squats, I'm hoping he's the next Veritek.. my husband doesn't seem so convinced (and was raised a Mets fan, with a dad who's a Yankees fan and a mom who's a Red Sox fan he wasn't allowed to be either!)
@SLou24 Glad to hear you had a good anatomy scan, and congrats on baby girl! I also was convinced my first was a boy until we found out she was a girl at the a/s. I'm almost always wrong when I try to guess the sex of someone else's baby, so I feel like I shouldn't have been surprised.
@PSUBecky23 Girl I'm with you on the back pain. Some days (and times of day) are worse than others- especially at work! I work at a museum with concrete floors, so when I'm on my feet for events or tours for too long my back starts to scream at me. Actually, pretty much anywhere on my feet for too long makes my back rage out. That, and I wake up in the morning in pain- usually because I have to go to the bathroom- and the moment I do, my back starts to feel better.
You guys- this BMB brings me back to the reality of the positive in my life. Just reading everyone else's posts makes me remember what I have to be thankful for. I'm still struggling badly with my boss essentially holding my pregnancy over my head like I got pregnant just to inconvenience her- and so I can't get a raise until after I come back (if then) and she won't put anything in writing. This morning was no exception. I came home feeling so deflated and sad- which is ridiculous- I should be on the moon right now about having a healthy baby boy, about hitting 20 weeks officially today, about being in good healthy myself, etc. Why do I let this woman affect me so much??? *sigh* Anyway- thanks for making this a place I can escape the real world BS and dive into baby brain heaven!
My random of the day is that I found out when my baby shower is going to be. Up until now, it was a secret and I wasn't even supposed to know I was having one, but DH talked to his mom and apparently she thought he wanted it to be a secret and he thought she wanted it to be a secret, when really it didn't have to be at all.
So June 18th is the big day! I hate being the center of attention, but I'm excited! Everyone has been so wonderful and supportive and I just can't wait to experience all the love from my friends and family.
@SarahMConnors when you hold that sweet boy the struggles in life won't seem so significant. Good and bad bosses come and go from your life but this baby is going to be your greatest love and accomplishment. Just keep swimming!
Also, I've stopped sleeping with a pillow between my legs and instead using 2 under my head. And I'm sleeping a million times better... what's up with that?! Hips and knees don't ache anymore either!!

If anyone hasn't voted for the May signature challenge go vote! @kosmo86 made a poll. I think awkward family photos is going to win

@lovelylauren86 what a cutie! Happy birthday!
