@LakeR2014- My little guy was just wild for the past hour while I sat at my desk - could be the ice cold water and/or the coffee. He was head butting my belly button and dancing on my cervix/bladder. I also feel him a lot when I'm calm at night, because I lay back a bit on the couch and rest my hands on my belly. So fun, glad you're experiencing lots of activity!!
Thinking good thoughts for your DH @Thscary. And good luck on the a/s today @camichael84! Mine is tomorrow afternoon and I can't stop thinking about it. It's going to be hard to focus at work today. Trying to stay busy until then.
We recently got new neighbors and we haven't met them yet. Yesterday there was an invitation on our doorstep for a housewarming party and gender reveal, which means she must be within a few weeks of me. So excited!
The kids made their way into my bed again last night. Just because. I tried to get comfortable but there was no way. My pregnancy pillow is huge, I'm huge, they're not tiny and it just wasn't working for me. So I kicked them out of my bed at 3 am. I got up in the morning before them and started getting myself ready. When I went to wake them up, I realized they were both in my bed, snuggled up together on about a third of the bed. And when I tried to wake them, I had to laugh. DS wanted nothing more than to throw his arm over DD to snuggle up and fall back asleep. DD was having NONE of that and kept pushing him away.
@Fireflygirl12 - I think the consensus is that sex reveals aren't traditionally gift-giving events. If you feel compelled to bring something, I would bring something small - like a $5-10 toy, that could be seen as gender-neutral, and that can be attached to a congratulatory card.
@LakeR2014 I've been feeling LO a lot at my desk lately, too. I would guess it has something to do with your tummy kind of squishing together more, so baby ends up hitting more things you can feel. Either way, I love it! It is a bit distracting when I should be grading or answering emails, though.
I had my anatomy scan this morning. Then I came to work and spent all day pinning nursery ideas. I am not getting any work done! I am super excited to get the nursery decorated! Time to shop.
@Thscary sending good vibes to you and your DH! I hope this is nothing or something minor. I get being scared about GI issues having struggled with them all my life, it really isn't fun and the mind does go to worst case scenarios when you know what could happen. Hopefully it will all be perfect or super easy to deal with. Will be thinking of you both!
@marajay6- That's my excuse too since my anatomy scan... although it was a week ago now! I keep looking up nursery stuff and ordered some fabric today! Weeeee!
Just a random thought...A lot of people comment on feeling their babies on their bladders. I have only felt baby on my lower abdomen. This is common at this point, right? Placenta previa is bouncing around in my head now.
@Sbrown721- I tend to go really long between peeing, so my bladder is probably taking up half of my lower abdomen.. that's when I feel him kick it the most. I wouldn't be overly concerned. I posted in the AP thread that I was told I have an anterior placenta and I still feel movement where I would assume placenta is.. I don't think it always blocks the feelings of movement. Perhaps your babe is just very courteous of your organs and doesn't aim for the big cushy one

I haven't really felt this baby on my bladder. She seems to be towards the back, which makes sense since I have an anterior placenta. They shift around, and at this stage, there are many places for baby to be. I don't think you need to worry about placenta previa just because baby has never really bothered your bladder.
@Sbrown721 Let me tell you - those swift kicks to the bladder? Each time is like an unpredictable "I might pee myself a little" gamble. So if your LO isn't subjecting you to that (yet), take advantage of it. It will come. And you will know exactly what it is, haha!
@Sbrown721 I feel her on my bladder mostly because she keeps her legs around that area (breech position). I've had a couple ultrasounds recently and she's always been in this position so it looks like she feels more comfortable there. I stopped feeling her so often for a couple of days and the felt some rolling-like feeling and started feeling her in my lower abdomen. Now she's back to kicking my bladder. So they change positions a lot! I really don't think you should worry about placenta previa because of this, baby probably likes to lie horizontally or in another position

Only feeling very low right now. With my daughter, I eventually felt her all over, including sticking her freaking feet out as far as possible. But I never felt her on my bladder.
Haha thanks, ladies! I visited a daycare 5 minutes from my work a couple weeks ago and, although it's a VERY nice daycare, it isn't my #1 choice. Anyway, I have been going back and forth about it and my fiance just texted me telling me he just signed into the daycare and he is headed for a tour right now to help me out on the decision. (Sigh)...the little things...so sweet.
I agree with the others, @sbrown721. At our ultrasound, baby girl was transverse. I think she must like it there because I almost always feel her on my sides. I have an anterior placenta, so that may muffle things in the middle, but she definitely likes the sides! Avoiding the bladder so far. Hoorah!
Oh, teenagers..."Mrs. Breen, how far along are you? Oh, ~4.5 months? Makes sense. You were breathing pretty heavy when you walked over to my desk yesterday..."
Today at 17 weeks 6 days might have been the last time this pregnancy that I wear normal pants with normal button/zipper closure. Struggled through the day feeling like a blowfish, and just now, halfway through the afternoon, rushed into the bathroom to change into leggings. I can't technically wear leggings at work but I don't really care right now!! I had them with me because I'm headed to the Red Sox game tonight and new I'd want to be comfy. Thank god I had these in my bag, and I don't think I'll be attempting this again! The bad news is that they were my fat pants, and I only have 2 pair of maternity pants. I need summer weather for maxi dresses and skirts, stat!!
@SLou24 The belly bands have saved me so far (I got a black and a white one on sale at Target - they were only $11 each)! I can still wear my regular pants, but I haven't been able to zip/buttom them for awhile now! I am dying to bust out the maxi dresses and skirts too!
I watched an 9 month old baby last night for four hours all by myself and I didn't break her! She actually was pretty happy except for the last 15 minutes or so. It was the first time I've watched an infant since 2011 - and back then it was a sleepy three month old and only for about an hour (and her dad was like right next door, so it was pretty low pressure).
Babies have never really been my forte, so I've been trying to practice loads on my friend's little one. Starting to feel a bit more confident in this whole "gonna be a mother" thing.
Anatomy scan went well today! Everything looks great, and baby is definitely a girl! She's much more active than her sister was, and is measuring right on track. She is currently 14 oz.
@Sbrown721 I never felt my first on my bladder ever. She went and stayed head down pretty early (prior to 19 weeks). Like all the others have said, it's likely all baby's positioning.
@PoodleDoodleOoo - good news is it comes even more naturally when the baby is your own. Great practice! I loved having a good amount of newborn-2 year old babysitting under my belt before baby #1 came.
Guys I just took newborn/0-3 month clothes inventory... we have plenty which is awesome and a lot that e never wore especially in newborn. Also newborn clothes is so unbelievably small! A little over 4 months to go! Squeeeeeeee!!
Thanks all for the well wishes yesterday. All blood work came back normal and there was no visible cause for the pain. He's on a few meds for ulcer and has a follow up with GI doc next week. Feeling relieved that the blood work was good. Thanks again everyone
@PSUBecky23I feel you on the lower back pain! I think mine is due to a few days of inactivity after my spotting on Tuesday. (I'm generally a super active person and have been being pretty sedentary out of paranoia.) I'm really hoping that's the case anyway, so that the pain subsides as I start to increase activity again! I hope you can find some relief, too!
I've been like a broken record about E scratching kiddos at daycare.. but this morning at dropoff I saw him show a little improvement and held himself back while pointing at a baby's face without immediately reaching for it. I said to our faaaaavorite daycare teacher, "He seems a bit more gentle when he wants to touch our faces at home, I think there might be some improvement" and she said "It's just a phase!!! He'll get it, no one is worried!"
... well! Just what I needed to hear this morning, feeling much better. As much as everyone and every google search has told me that it's a really really normal/common phase, I still felt guilted by one of the daycare workers who made it seem so terrible and concerning. Glad to know the head teacher is working with him but not concerned or pointing any fingers!
