I'm tired of pooping. I know most women are constipated at this point and I should be grateful....but I'm tired of making multiple trips a day of mostly not solid poop....this entire pregnancy. My body is nuts.
I think it's kinda shitty that the FB group closed without really telling people it was being formed (bc seriously, who has time to read that ridiculously long randoms thread?), and now this board is pretty dead bc people aren't doing both.

Is that what happened? I thought it had been quiet over here. I usually only check in every couple of days and was surprised how little thread turnover there had been.
Actually there was an ample opportunity to join and several heads up were given. Not anyone's responsibility to make sure you personally were notified about what was happening.

This. But there's another fb group that's open, just not sure who runs it. Beuller??
Also! If the majority of us had time to read the Randoms thread, clearly it's not as impossible as its being made out to be.
My UO is that I love Dance Moms. It's so trashy and ridiculously staged but I can't help it!! I'm so sad three of the original people are leaving after next weeks show though

Mostly disappointed that everyone left the group and now this site is so quiet, I did enjoy hearing what was going on with everyone. Besides, given that the earliest due dates are still ~5 weeks away, it seems early to me to form a group and lock people out, but I guess that's another UO.
As far as the "several heads up" I guess I missed the threads outside of the randoms one, and that's on me. I'm a bit cautious on social media, and was still warming up to people, but was interested in joining a FB group down the line. But b/t working full time and a toddler at home, I don't have time to keep up with the randoms thread, and the "221 pages" is way too daunting to even open.

Eh, Facebook is always a killer of the BMB. I anticipated that. I think there was ample notice to join the FB group, but still hate that it slowed the board here just because I like to interact here rather than on FB (just my personal preference).
Actually, compared to some BMBs, we still have pretty good participation here from the regulars and plenty of tots to go around post-FB group. I have no idea how active the FB group is, since I didn't join, so that could be like 20x the activity, but the best way to up activity here is to start threads and respond. So it's up to us to keep it up.

@sdLindenberg yes to dance moms! I went to college in Pittsburgh and the first season aired during my senior year. We were SO tempted to go out to the studio and try to meet them but decided it would be weird. Kinda wishing we had now!

My last BMB formed a FB around the same time as the major TB implosion so TB in general was super quiet. Didn't connect it to the FB exodus then but that makes sense.
@sdLindenberg the studio my sister dances at just filmed at a competition with the dance mom's studio. They beat them in quite a few areas so I'm not sure it will ever air.....
@TNvols27 and @MsBeachNJ I am with you 100%. So help me, if I hear the words, "think piece" in relation to Beyonce and Lemonade one more time...even NPR ran a story.

***Dance mom spoiler alert***
They haven't been winning much in their last few episodes so maybe it will!
I think all dogs should be on a leash unless in a fenced in area. I don't care how well trained your giant dog is, if he's running toward me or my kids without a leash on I'm not going to smile and pet him. And you saying "don't worry, he's friendly" does not make it ok. Control your pets. It's safer for the animals too anyway.
I gues another UO is that I didn't even know there was a Facebook page being created, that I probably wouldn't have joined it had I known (don't use Facebook that much except to keep in touch with old friends/family), and I've never really understood the desire to move from a BMB to a locked Facebook group. It stinks that some people will probably not participate here as much, but that's their choice. Doesn't really affect my life enough to be upset.
@ahernandez16 where does she dance?!? I work for a costume studio that makes stuff for a handful of studios up in your area along with stuff down here in SD lol. @Sgoldberg247 they're not nearly as good without Maddie, but the problem is, as amazing as she is, she's not this prodigy dancer they think she is. That would be Sophia Lucia, who, and I'm totes bragging, is from right here in San Diego lolz.
As far as the Randoms thread goes, just because it's 250+ pages doesn't mean you have to read the whole thing lol. I'll go a few days without reading and just jump in with a "hey! Pickle chips are awesome!" Or something stupid like that. We all are busy with stuff. Some of y'all have other kids, some work stupid hours and some of us like me are just lazy and REALLY fucking lucky that we don't have to work right now and have the option to Bump all day. A lot of the OG's are still participating here. It may not seem as frequent, but we are here!! And, while some people aren't due until the end of June, a lot of us are due earlier on and are kind of preoccupied with weekly Drs appointments and tests and trying not to stress out too much because of the little feet in the ribs....
A big reason I don't participate in some of the other threads is I just don't know who half the people are anymore. It's like, we left and all of a sudden there's tons of ladies who LITERALLY have never posted in here and they expect to be added to the fb group? Yeah, ok.

--- AH! Stuck in the box! --
Honestly only commenting because I like OG's, haha! It makes me feel special.
I've been here since the beginning and I didn't join the FB group..... But I didn't on my last bmb either. Not that I'm against it, I just never saw the need I guess?

Sup, OG? I will admit that sometimes going back and forth between the two gets confusing sometimes, so I can't blame you.
Everything @AmberLiz99 just said about the group is true for me as well. Although, I did find it odd that the group was "closed" to new members. This could totally be a normal Facebook practice that I am just not aware of since I don't use it often, so I'm totally not complaining.
My UO is that I think planning to take leave from work early is crazy if you are having a healthy pregnancy. I just can't imagine not saving every minute I can to be at home with my baby. I guess circumstances can be different for everyone, I just couldn't care less if my water breaks in my office or at home.

I'm a school nurse and my due date is the day after school ends, so I can't use any sick days in the next year no matter what. I do get 12 weeks of FMLA starting Sept 1st, though.
So I have a bunch of saved sick days for baby and figured I might as well stop working at 38 weeks to have time to prepare for baby since I can't use the days after baby.
Also I can imagine that I'll be awfully slow in an emergency at 38+ weeks!
I read that on my lunch break and pregnant me was irritated but pre-pregnancy me could identify with her just a little bit.
It isn't the workers with kids that put the pressure on kidless employees to stay late and pull extra weight, it's management. Regardless though, it still happens.

For me, I HAD to take leave.... I couldn't tie my skates anymore lol. It's also 100% unpaid because I'm a private contractor, but the skating director loves me so they're not replacing me and will give me ALL my classes back when I'm cleared to come back. But! I'm still making custom dresses so that's a small income that covers weekly bills/groceries.

Yes to the leave (unless maybe you live somewhere that you get a whole year off). I worked until I was 4 days overdue with my first, and only stopped because my boss pretty much told me to. I went into labor two days later. I didn't want to waste my leave I had saved up.

Yup, all of this^^
I don't plan on taking it to QUITE the extreme that one of my advisors did but I plan to work until I either can't work anymore for physical reasons or I go into labor.
My advisor, in case anyone is interested to hear a crazy story about dedication to your job, was finishing up her last day before leaving for good when she went into labor at 10 am. She worked the whole day, took the 15 min walk to the train station, the 45 min train ride home and then drove home to make sure the final episode of seinfeld was taping before telling her husband she had been in labor all day and they should probably get to the hospital. I believe she was there for maybe an hour before delivering her baby. I don't plan on taking it quite that far but working until I hit labor, I'm all for them.
The new FB group was created mostly in response to the stupid ads that came about suddenly. Then the ads vanished but because the effort was made to make the FB group - and a lot of us went over already - we kinda stayed. I'd like to stay active here too though. I like this format and I miss the regs who didn't come over like @AmberLiz99 and @NLewis1 just to name a few
@laurenm2123 and @sdLindenberg you ladies are both good examples of different circumstances. Stopping work due to the inability to meet the physical demands of your career is as acceptable to me as a health issue. I'm talking about "I'm due in 2 weeks but want a little me time before little Suzi gets here" people. I have a particular coworker who comments daily on the fact that she cannot believe I am working until I have this baby, assuming baby and I continue to remain healthy.
Everything @AmberLiz99 just said about the group is true for me as well. Although, I did find it odd that the group was "closed" to new members. This could totally be a normal Facebook practice that I am just not aware of since I don't use it often, so I'm totally not complaining.

I agree with you, but only from my desk job where I run reports and answer emails 8 (or yesterday 10) hours a day. If I wasn't working in an office, it's a little more reasonable. But yeah, the people around here who keep asking me if I'm going to stop working at the end of May (not due until the 16th) get the side eye.
My UO is that I honestly had no desire to interview a pediatrician. Everyone kept telling me to look around, ask them questions, get to know a few and choose one. I don't have energy or patience for that. I saw one today for a meet and great, only because it's required before she'll take us on as patients. Otherwise, I was good with choosing one based on my location and my OB's recommendation
Me: 32 DH: 31 *The old lady by 5 whole weeks* Married: 11/2013 M: 6/2016 E: 5/2018
I guess my whole approach to the last few weeks of pregnancy is an unpopular one...but, I'm okay with that. My last day of work is 5/31 & my due date is 6/25. It's become too challenging already to run after unpredictable students with autism, some of which are bigger than me, & all of which are stronger than me when in a breakdown. It's not exactly a safe environment at times. My workload at school has already been changed to accommodate things, but pushing myself further than 36 weeks there isn't ideal. I'm taking the time between going off work to when the baby is born as unpaid, & will officially begin my maternity leave when he's here. As unpopular as it may be, I'm really looking forward to a bit of time between work ends & baby arrives to just enjoy being accountable to me, without the added responsibility of a child to care for.
I will go out at 38 weeks because my company allows it, and I can't add the time on after the birth, so it would be like giving up free PTO. But honestly, by the time I got to 38 weeks last time around, I was exhausted and uncomfortable and ready to stop working.

I am also due the 16th and people are mind blown that I'm still here. Wtf?!?
Also, I can't imagine interviewing a pedi either. I feel like I would ask family/friends/Drs and take their word for it before trying to schedule interviews. However, this board has taught me that it can apparently be really hard to find a pediatrician at all, never mind a good one.
@AmberLiz99 I completely agree! I have had 3 large dogs in my yard over a 2 day period and it really scares me. I'm not afraid of the dogs attacking me, although, ya never know, I am more afraid of the dogs getting hit by cars or killed by the numerous predators that I see and hear frequently. Also, I walk my dog with mace in my pocket, because I am frequently charged by neighbors dogs, all who seem friendly, but my dog is small and if your dog seems vicious, he's getting maced.
I really think smash cakes and having a second cake prepared so your one year old can smash it and get frosting everywhere is ridiculous! Why go through the expense of having a separate one made with crazy multicolored frosting that will probably stain anything within then vicinity of your child while smashing the cake? My SIL loves doing this and picks terrible frosting colors like black and deep purple for her kids to dig into and I think it just looks plain dumb. What happened to the good old days where the birthday boy/girl gets the first piece out of the cake everyone else eats?!
There I know I'm an FTM so maybe I don't get it quite yet but I can assure you this is not something I want my kid to do.

Sounds like a number of excellent reasons to stop working prior to baby's arrival.
I have a desk job, and I telework. So, I have no reason to stop working early unless something changes medically, especially since I would burn my paid time off. I will say I wouldn't mind a few days to finish up baby prep before LO shows up, but likely won't take any since I'd have to burn time as I said.
