My random: I've been scheduled for a check up on Friday, when I'll be 18 weeks exactly. At my last appointment, they just told me to schedule 4 weeks out, just as my regular check up day. Last week though, I got a voicemail saying that they forgot to tell me that I also have an US that day beforehand. So I guess I'm just confused since I know that they don't usually do extra US besides the original and the a/s, so I'm thinking this will be my a/s even though it's way on the earlier side? I'm so confused. I realize I could just call and ask but I have a feeling the receptionist will have no clue so I haven't bothered. I guess we'll find out early Friday morning if it's actually anatomy scan day or not!
@SLou24 If your office is like mine, who ever does the scheduling should be able to tell you what your appt is for. Particularly in the case of ultrasounds. However, it sounds to me like they are planning on doing the a/s at your appt this week. I can't imagine why else they would do an u/s at 18 weeks.
Thanks for the a/s wishes yesterday! Baby was stubborn, so we didn't get a good shot of the spine, but everything looked good from the angles we saw. Still Team Green, as planned. It was really reassuring to see Little Bug moving around so much, even if it wasn't the rolling over that was needed. Bonus, DH got to feel some movement last night, too! Big day!
@Jabreen yahoooooo! I haven't felt a whole lot on the outside, but I have had dreams where I did (and I'm wondering if they're my subconscious screwing with me!). I can't wait for DH and DS to be able to feel her!
Man I miss so much in just a day!!! Catching up -so many responses for all of you I have the energy because I've been up since 5 a.m. because my a/s is today at 12!!! I cannot sit still!!!!!!!
@Sporty1216 Hoping the two weeks fly by and that everything is AOK!
@Ssoccerball my a/s is today too!!! Ours is at 12! I took the day off- thank goodness- because I've been up since 5 am and I can't focus on anything else- I am USELESS! DH was going to go to work in the a.m. but decided to stay home. He slept in, of course, because he still has some sanity. I'm going out of my mind with excitement! Good luck!
@poodledoodleooo I'm so sorry about Fred! Thank goodness he has you- most people wouldn't think twice about not keeping a dog that's "high maintenance." I can't imagine how heartbreaking it must be to see him struggle. My fuzz-butt and I are thinking of you and your fuzzbutt and hoping he feels better
@camichael84 OMG I can't! That outfit!!! SO CUTE!!!! And I'm glad I'm not the only one planning to venture out! Fall is my favorite season, and I can't wait to be off during the fall this year with this little munchkin! My husband thinks I'm out of my mind but I don't care- I can't wait to do everything with this baby October is going to be like Halloween every day lol!
@fireflygirl12 SO CUTE!!!! I love the outfit! And we are picking up the glider today- super excited! First major piece of baby furniture and we got it at such a steal!
@PSUBecky23 & @Jabreen glad your a/s went well!! You are both awesome for staying team green! I'm so weak lol! I've started feeling movement on the outside as well- not as frequently as the flutters, but after a good meal and putting my feet up I feel it get stronger. DH hasn't felt it yet- he is never patient enough to sit there for more than a couple of minutes though. @lovelylauren OMG he is so cute!!! PS I love the color choices @AlwaysAuntNeverMom I've noticed lately that if this baby is moving a lot when I'm laying down it will hurt on one side until I roll over and switch sides- seems to relieve the pain.
@JennM205 I hope everything is ok It could be from overdoing it- I notice when I overdo it that I feel crummy and crampy. I had that in the first trimester and my doctor said it was normal- but it never feels normal! Deep breaths, and call your OB for sure if it comes back. Thinking of you today!
I had both kids and a mini daschund (Snickers) in bed with me last night. DS was already in my bed and DD crawled in when the storm that rolled through at 3am got really bad. That meant I had to move Snickers who was essentially trying to become one with me as he was so freaked. DD ended up sandwiched between Snickers and I. DD - "Mom, something is shaking against my back." Me - "That would be a very frightened Snickers."
DD and I were up for close to 2 hours due to that storm. DS woke up twice and fell right back asleep. Needless to say, DD and I are dragging today. I may or may not make a fort under my desk and take a nap at some point.
Have we heard yet on the A/S for ssoccer? Is that who it was?? One of the twin mamas was hoping to find out sex of mystery baby today...
Mine is today at 3:00 and you're right, I can't wait to find out about our mystery baby. I couldn't sleep I am so excited! I think there are a bunch of ladies on the board with a/s's today. @SarahMConnors, good luck to you! Hope everything goes great!
In anticipation of telling our kids tonight, I got multiple bottles of silly string in pink and blue, to cover whatever we might be having. I'm going to cover the bottles with black construction paper, label them "A" and "B" and let my kids spray each other, showdown style, to find out the sex of the babies!
@UnwritteN12 That sounds like a terrible night for you, your daughter, and Snickers. Glad at least one of you got some sleep, and hope you can get some extra rest tonight. I feel bad about all the storms you guys are getting. Hopefully it eases up soon!
Morning, everyone! Thanks again for the well wishes. I'm not sure how I could possibly forget but DH and I had sex on Monday night which, I'm sure, contributed to the spotting yesterday (as well as my day being super active in general). After remembering that, I feel a lot better. It's crazy how much of a mind-f*ck a tiny bit of red and pink is! Like, my head was trying to be rational but, at the same time, I just could stop the slew of morbid, worst-case-scenario fears from creeping in! Just glad to have a community of women who truly get it to air concerns to, so thanks!
Ooh I was a day ahead!! Good luck to those with scans today! The bump now tells me 18 weeks 6 days to go which sounds so much closer than 19 weeks somehow. Woohoo!
It is so exciting that we are all getting our anatomy scans and feeling more and more baby movement. I go in for my ultrasound tomorrow morning. I scheduled it first thing in the morning because I knew that waiting until afternoon would suck. I am eager to get confirmation that baby is growing well - I tend to not be too anxious, but it can be so long between appointments. And the fact that I haven't really gained weight (sorry to whine about this) or really started showing has me a bit nervous.
Just realized I'm 20 weeks today! Yay halfway! Maybe a little more if this baby comes a little early like Reese did. (Wishful thinking.)
As for staying team green, part of me is questioning it. Especially now that I know that it's documented somewhere out there in medical record land. It would just take a phone call to my doctor to find out...
@marajay6 I scheduled all my appts with my first pregnancy during the morning because of that reason. I had to switch to afternoon appts this pregnancy so that DH could take them off without having to use vacation time. They seem to get me in a lot quicker, but it does suck having to wait those few extra hours.
Yay for a good a/s @jabreen! Are you getting a second scan done to get the spine shots? We had the same issue and my OB recommended it just to rule out spina bifida (no reason to believe she had it), but left it optional for us. Insurance covered it since they didn't get all the anatomy during the initial scan, so we took advantage as another opportunity to see baby girl. Also, I was in total disbelief on girl status, which was also confirmed again at our second scan
Ugh we got a couple inches of snow randomly yesterday. It's melting now but certainly canceled my plans to go to a farm/wildlife park today since the ground will be too yucky for little man. Husband is off from work so we might go out for lunch and do some errands!
Also, e scratched a kid at daycare while I was there to pick him up yesterday, and I cried. I didn't want to it just all overwhelmed me. The teacher was really kind and explained that he had been doing much better and what activities they're doing to keep his hands busy and reminded me it's just a phase. Blah. Feel better about it today, just hard for them to stay on top of him at daycare with 2 teachers and 8 kids under 2. At home we are all over it.
@fireflygirl12 I'm not sure yet. My OB didn't say anything about needing another one, but maybe I'll get a surprise one at my 24 week appointment! If it's covered, I won't turn down another peek!
Well that was fun. Baby girl just kicked me hard enough to push my hand away from my stomach - twice. At least, I think it was her - it was directly in the middle of my stomach vs. off to one side or the other. She's been way more feisty than her brother in there!
@AnnaS930 - I'm sorry. Sometimes all it takes is one thing to make you loose it. Thank goodness for understanding and patient teachers though. The important thing is you guys are doing your part to work with him at home. He'll get through it.
@camichael84 - Thanks! Me too. We can always use the rain but some of these storms are just nuts. I suppose if anyone needed the sleep, it was DS. Him not getting enough sleep can be the equivalent of the end of the world the next day.
@AnnaS930 I'm sorry he's doing that! So frustrating, but at least the teachers see that you truly care. Do you think it's just an attention-seeking thing? Do they have an area for him to go to if he's feeling overwhelmed? A cozy corner? Or maybe you could provide him with something tactile for him to squeeze when he needs to get some emotions out...I know it's very common at that age. Doesn't make it any easier on the parents tho!
Not really a WTF, so I'll post it here instead. I got my first baby gift from a coworker, which was so so sweet and I do really appreciate her gift. It's a bib and a onesie (though not the one with legs...whatever the dress ones are called), but both are printed with Bible verses...I'm not super vocal at work about DH and I being atheist, and neither of us are "anti-Christian", but it still feels weird to get a religious gift without the giver knowing for sure I'll be receptive to it. I know this is what happens in the Bible Belt (I'm in Birmingham), but now I feel bad for having mixed feelings about the gift.
@AnnaS930- it really is a phase. We are on the other side of the problem - we haven't had any problems with DS biting or scratching the other toddlers, but he has come home with marks on him. Both my husband and I are very understanding of the situation and we while we hate to see our son get hurt, we have no hard feelings towards the kids and their parent's that hurt him. Toddlers just have a very difficult time expressing themselves and this is one way they do it.
@Jabreen Who dresses their baby in bible verses? I'm a Christian, and wouldn't have known how to handle a gift like that. Don't feel bad about your mixed feelings. I'm sure the gift giver had the best intentions, but it doesn't seem like an appropriate gift to give a coworker.
@jabreen - I'm a Christian, but I'm not "let's wear Jesus t-shirts" kind of Christian. I'd be kind of put off by the gift too. For me that outfit would immediately become a 2 a.m. everything else is covered in poop so what the heck the kid can wear it kind of thing. Or it would get donated asap.
@AnnaS930 Try to focus on the fact that his teacher said he's doing better and their (and your at home) efforts are helping. He will outgrow it, and I guarantee he's not the only one in the class doing this or something similar. Scratching, biting, and hitting all come as part of the game when you work with one and two year olds. (Especially one year olds because of their lack of verbal skills.) His teachers are used to handling situations like this, and it sounds like between them and you, you're doing all you can for now.
@Jabreen That is such a weird thing for a coworker to give to you. I'm sure it comes from a good place, but I never know what to say in those kinds of situations other than "thank you" while internally wanting to crawl out of my skin and run for the hills before I inadvertently say the wrong thing.

@Jabreen a lot of gifts we didn't like I'd dress him in once for a photo just for them. Something with a Bible verse on it would not fit that category... I would donate that with tags still on and never look back

I had to like this just for the IT Crowd gif. I even watched an episode just last night on net flix! My fiance can't stand the show, I love it!
Thank for the support, guys! I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought it was a bit odd. I especially appreciate the input from those who are Christian, because I worry sometimes about being too reactionary, given my environment. Luckily, I don't think my coworker is the kind of person who will expect to see photos of LO in the gift, so I think I'll follow the donation advice.
I have my ultrasound tomorrow. We have decided to find out - we spent all of this pregnancy debating whether or not we should be team green, but a few weeks ago we decided that we will find out and it feels right. This is our 2nd and final kid. I am one of those people who would love the experience of having both a son and a daughter. Shortly after I found out I was pregnant, I started feeling very calm and accepting of whatever sex this baby is. But in the past couple weeks, both DH and I keep referring to the baby as a she. And I have had a lot of people say things along the lines of "You must be hoping for a girl this time!" I am getting kinda nervous about being disappointed if this child is in fact a boy. I guess we will see tomorrow...
Just spent half my workday sifting through insurance mumbo-jumbo to figure out a new plan now that DH started his new job. What a nightmare! Can't they make it any easier? Like, I'm not asking them to tie it up in a nice little bow or anything - just don't make me feel like I'm reading a different language or playing a wordsearch game when trying to understand my options!
Glad that's behind me. But it was stressful and under pressure (in order to get coverage starting 5/1 (versus waiting another month, uninsured) I HAD to decide today...and of course didn't get DH's information until this morning). I'm not going to lie...I think I'm done working for the day. Even though I haven't actually done any work at all. I'm mentally exhausted. Here's to an afternoon of bumping! ::shrugs::
Speaking of insurance, mine is absolute crap! Genetic testing would cost me $1,000 and an ultrasound would cost me $500 out of pocket!! My deductible is $6,500. An uneventful vaginal birth would be $7,000 minimum and if baby had to stay at the hospital longer than I did then baby would start his/her own deductible!! ((cue headache)) Fiance and I decided before finding all of that out that I'd be giving birth at home with a midwife anyway so, we're paying for the midwife out of pocket which is $4,000 for everything including having her as a lactation consultant and at least 4 home visits after the birth.

You guys are making me way too excited for Halloween- which is scary because I'm already SO EXCITED!!!

Insurance is annoying.
