Re: Manic Monday 4-25
On the plus side... all my registry shopping is done and everything should be here by this weekend. Once DH finally gets the floor done it really shouldn't take too long to do everything else since all the rest of the stuff is easy. I'm still freaking out though bc I want it done...
I obviously don't want to go past my due date and deliver a giant baby and have a longer recovery time, but I also don't want to be induced. I read that induction can make your odds of needing a CS higher, especially if you're a FTM like me.
So now I've been at home doing everything and anything I can to get things moving along. Spicy food, exercise (even if it's just marching in place while at home), nipple stimulation which totally makes my boobs leak, and sex of course because it's the most fun, most likely to actually work, and I'm also dreading the 6 weeks I'm not allowed to have sex with DH after LO gets here!
You can also ask for a membrane sweep at 40 weeks if your cervix is favorable to see if that starts your labor.
I wasn't going to buy a third crib....
Mama to Three Girls:
Twins born March 2014 at 26 weeks due to preterm labor
and our 37weeker born May 9th, 2016!
Then Saturday, I get 2 more bills for twins' eye doctor appts 6 weeks ago...$300 more that I've never previously had to pay to their other eye doctor appointments (follow-up for retinopathy of prematurity and signs of glaucoma).
I wish I could show up somewhere in person and take care of it all in one day...grrr

i decided to start my leave at 36 weeks, thinking I could rest, relax, watch gorey tv, and finish baby stuff. I'm extra lucky because I'm a teacher, so I don't have to go back to work until September, when LO will be about four months old.
well, that took about a week. All the baby stuff is done, it takes about 15 minutes to clean my house if I do it every day, and it turns out I don't really like gorey tv. I'm glad I'm not at work because my pelvic joint basically hurts all day and I'm not sleeping well, but at 38 weeks I'm ready to focus my attention on my baby and being a mom. Add to that the fact that last week my midwife talked to me about what would happen if I went to 41/42 weeks (no c section, just some more non invasive induction attempts at the hospital) I feel like this baby is never, ever, going to come.
and yes, I do realize I'm complaining about too much free time before my baby comes
On the bright side, (TMI) I've seen some of my MP come out yesterday and today so hopefully that means my efforts to move things along is working! The sooner I go into labor naturally, the less time I have to spend contemplating when it is that I'll need to be induced
@JoMunson - I'm in the same boat as you! Last week was my first full week on maternity leave. I have tons of projects that I want to get done so that DH isn't stuck doing them all (we have to weed our garden, finish the landscaping, clean out the garage, etc). I'm not doing heavy lifting or any of the large parts, but once DH goes to work it becomes "do the dishes, throw in a load of laundry and wipe the counters. now what the hell do I do?". Turns out I sleep.....
@nerdymama15 I'm sorry you are going through all this. I had DS1 6 weeks early so I know how overwhelming it all is. Just know that your baby is in caring, competent hands when you are away and take care of yourself too.
blood pressure was crazy high (130/102), plus my fundal height was measuring a couple weeks behind, so I got sent across the street to the hospital. Of course as soon as I get there my blood pressure drops back down to normal, but I still had to wait around a few hours for an ultrasound to make sure LO was growing okay. LO was fine, turns out I'm just a small person.
I'm happy everything was fine, but sitting around the hospital all day stressing out sucks!
Im actually freaking out because DD has been sick since Friday with a high fever, took her to the walk in today and they ruled out strep, ear infections, sinuses, and UTI. She was bitten by two ticks in the last 3 weeks, no rash though, so we are doing amoxicillin because they have no idea what is causing her fever and general sickness. Ugh...
