Y'all I want nothing more than to use my foot massager tonight til my heart's content, but I'm probably supposed to avoid those sorts of things, right? It's just this Sharper Image thing you set your feet on, turn it on and the little balls rolls around uggghhhh it would feel like a dream.
But is that a no-no in third trimester?
I don't know but that sounds heavenly. You've reminded me about my foot spa that just vibrates... Surely that's ok.

Right around the ankle near the arch there's a contraction pressure point. It won't send you into instant labor or anything-- you're probably fine to use it (I definitely would if I had one)!
After my appointment today I am being monitored for pre-eclampsia. I have gained 11 pounds in 3 weeks and have severe swelling. Midwife ordered me a urine test and blood test and will have a L&D nurse call me tonight . I do not have any other symptoms for PE - I think my midwife is just being precautious. If my labs come back fine I will be having my blood pressure/urine checked every 3 days from now on.

Hm.. I never knew where the pressure points was. I think I'm safe. This thing only does the bottoms of my feet. Woo! Highlight of my Monday lol.
@ayeshaohara Yeah being pregnant and this BMB have made me way more conscientious about stuff I probably wouldn't have thought twice about before. In general I'm not big on the idea of having my baby's picture on the internet either, but I definitely haven't held back in posting pictures of other peoples' babies in the past! Oops.
These new posts on the birth announcement thread are giving me major anxiety! Don't get me wrong, I love seeing everyone's pics and updates, but the increasing frequency of the new posts makes the reality that I'm going to have one of those in 5 short weeks (maybe sooner) even more real!
@swflJDI have less than 3 weeks left and it feels like
I cancelled my 36 week appt. I am just skipping the entire thing and going Monday for 37. Obviously I ran it by my OB first. She told me if I wasn't having any problems it was no big deal. I told her I was so busy I didn't even remember I was pregnant. I just want this week to be over.
My SIL is finding out which sex she's having at 16 weeks this week. She told me she is 99% sure that it's a girl. I asked her how she knew and she said she has a feeling and that hyperemesis usually means it's a girl.
I didn't have the snark to tell her that this is just an old wives tales (which I'm sure she knows since she's a freakin paramedic, who works in the healthcare field!). I just did a lot of eye rolling through our text exchange.
I just looked for the shower thread and it was buried too deep, so - Word to the wise: never get married and have a baby within the same year. The thank you card writing will NEVER be over.
Seriously - I'm so grateful for everything everyone's done for us, but I thought by having just one baby shower and keeping it small-scale, I'd avoid a lot of the thank-you note writing. Instead, it made people feel excluded and decide to solve it by just throwing more showers, so now we've just completed 2 of 3. And my MIL didn't tell anyone that I had a registry for our second shower, so 90% of the gifts are pink onesies. Again, so grateful, but have zero energy for writing 20 TY notes for onesies right now.
Plus random side note: today a young coworker said he just got invited to a baby shower and asked what he should bring. I was like "TARGET GIFT CARD." That will be my go-to baby shower gift from here out, forever.
@Pascal86 -- that's why my husband is designated writer of mass thank-you cards in this house!
We split it up so I do the long thoughtful cards that need to be like mini-essays for special occasions, and he does the short ones for mass sendouts (wedding, baby shower, etc.).
It's a lot of work and I feel it's only equitable to divvy up the burden when we both benefit from the gifts. Too often emotional labor just defaults to being the woman's burden and I'm not having it.

@Merciel - This is how I feel too. But in practice, it doesn't work out. At our friend's baby shower he spent 45 minutes trying to think of what to write in the baby book we gave them. Finally, he came up with, "Dear Baby, Enjoy this great read." 45 MINUTES. As painful as writing the thank you cards is, having him do it is somehow even more painful. I did make him do all the groomsmen's TY cards, but that was difficult too.

Agreed! After having 2 baby showers (one thrown by my family and one by his), we had 70+ thank you notes to write. My schedule is busier than his, so I sure as hell wasn't going to do them all by myself! His kid, his responsibility, too. I ended up doing most of the ones for my family and friends, and he did most of the ones for his. That made the most sense for us because I didn't even know half of the distant relatives and family friends at the shower his family threw.

We split ours up the same way, with me doing all our mutual friends as well. I helped him with wording things and addressed all the envelopes and he licked them shut. We laughed that my pace was double his (I finished 10 in the time he did 5) but we got it done. Teamwork for the win! If it makes anyone feel better we only just sent ours out last weekend, a month after our shower. Not my usual style to wait so long but I figure people understand.
I am finally finishing the ironing that I avoided/procrastinated for 3 weeks because we have carpenters coming over tomorrow to install the bookshelves and storage we had made to replace the baby death trap shelves that we moved from DH's bachelor pad to our apartment. So there will be chaos and dust everywhere. I hate ironing sheets. And I just looked at the tags of all the baby gear we bought and everything is "line dry" and "iron on warm". Why does nobody in Europe use clothes dryers? The dryers don't even dry everything so that you can just fold and put it away. The clothes come out damp but the dryer won't dry for longer because it's "intelligent" and has decided that they are dry enough. Problem is here in Belgium the average humidity is about 60% and when it's 10 degrees Celsius outside nothing dries. I hate laundry.
I'm not going to post any spoilers, but I just watched last week's The Blacklist episode and holy crap they are huge twatwaffles! I'm going to be sobbing all friggin' day!
1 appointment down, 1 to go. BP was high at the start, but they checked it again just before I left and it went down to a reasonable amount. Also did my GBS test. Now just for the level 2 scan at 2 today.
Here's something random. Freaking In n Out Burger. What is the damn appeal?? I've tried it three times now and it is horrible to me - the burgers taste like they have no seasoning, the fries never have any salt and the texture of them is beyond strange (almost a stale fluffy texture). No kids menu either. I know it's just fast food but Whataburger and a few other local places are far superior in my book. It's not just one location either because as of today, I've been to three different locations. My pregnant self is mad because I wanted something good but my SIL insisted we go there.

Did you ask about the secret menu? They have awesome stuff on the secret menu! one reason I love in n out (besides being a CA native) is that it's one family who runs the whole franchise, their managers are paid very well, and all their food is made on site (you can watch them make the fries!).

I did check out the secret menu and am glad their employees are paid well ... But ... It still doesn't taste good.

I need a new TV show. Should my take away from todays random thoughts is I need to checkout Blacklist? What season is this on? Any other shows you can recommend. I hear Vinyl is good, but we are getting rid of HBO/showtime/etc to save money, and we dont have netflix/hulu and wont be getting them either.

Blacklist is on season 3. I like it, even though some of the episodes in S2 got a little too twisted for my taste. I haven't seen S3 yet.
We've been watching Quantico and Blindspot this year (both are in 1st season) and we really like them.
Without Netflix/Hulu, do you just DVR things through regular cable? Have you thought about ditching the cable and doing Netflix and/or Hulu? Way cheaper and you're not missing out on much.

We haven't had satellite/cable in 7 years and I don't miss it at all. We only use Netflix. And that's Canadian Netflix, which has less than you lucky Americans! The only downside is if you're a sports fan, it's really hard to find places to stream games.
Also, I have never heard of Blacklist, but apparently I need to look into it.

DH is SOOOOOO resistant to getting rid of cable. He watches a lot of sports, and needs to have NFL network and ESPN. So we are stuck with cable. But I FINALLY after a year of nagging convinced him we don[t need all the movie networks as we haven't used them in almost 2 years. We have ondemand though to catch up on past episodes of shows.
We just ditched cable and now have Play Station Vue. It's pretty awesome and only $30/month compared to $100+/month we were paying for Time Warner. It has all the sports channels DH needs.

We pay $250 a month (with internet) for TWC. It is sick. Tell me more about this Vue.
It doesnt look like it has NFL network. And GOD FORBID we miss a Thursday night football game
We have direct tv with tvo and Netflix. We pay about $70/month for both which is great because SO has shows he follows that I prefer not to watch and same for me. So we record shows and watch our mutual shows together and when he gets home before me or I get home before him we watch our individual shows. I watched blacklist up until last season, I really liked it and need to catch back up! I'm finally caught up on TWD just in time to have to wait all summer/fall to watch it again!!
Season 1 of Blacklist is great, but then the main girl in the show got so annoying, my husband and I stopped watching in Season 2. Blindspot is pretty good. My husband refuses to watch Quantico, or as I like to call it, Hot People FBI.
So second appointment done and baby looks great! Just big, no other issues. So my roller coaster is hopefully over. The doctor said date is not too far off so we're still sticking with original due date. And we did have them check again... Baby is DEFINITELY a boy.
And also, has anyone had experience/knows anyone with experience using acupuncture to induce labor? I am thinking that maybe that week off from work I would try it. Would rather go naturally if possible and avoid the piciton.
Here in Germany they start it at 36 weeks once a week. I thought it was interesting that the doctor recommended it as well. And since it can also reduce swelling in the legs it is covered by my insurance!
I love my chiropractor. I've been so much more comfortable through this pregnancy, and she's sending the belly pillows home with me over the weekend as a last ditch effort to try to give LO time and a tiny bit more space to move if he can get unstuck from my wacky shaped fundus. At the very least, it'll allow me to get a for real back massage from DH and some extra time with pressure off of my hips.
