I saw that April has a thread for birth stories for giving more details than just their announcements and I love reading them. If you are a May mom, and have already had your baby, share your story here.

I don't get the need for two. If you want to write a story in the announcement thread, just do it.

I like the idea of having a separate board, too. The announcement board seems like a quick announcement, and here Moms could give more details once they've rested up and are ready to share - and this board will make it possible for us to comment and interact with one another about the stories which we cannot do on the announcement board. Great idea!

I think it's a good idea and agree with PP. As a STM, I know from experience I won't have time to write out a birth story when LO is born. It takes time to get your bearings as a new mom. Even if you go back to edit your Birth Announcement to add your story, chances are, no one is going to see it because they're looking at the most recent birth announcement. This is a great way to give new moms the chance to write out their story and give them the time to do so.

I also like two, because on this one we can actually make comments, which is nice. Also, it keeps people from posting their own individual stories, which could get to be a bit much after we all start having our LOs.

YES because I totally want to say congrats to each and every one of you and your littles but we all agreed to keep the announcement thread commentless so that the announcements themselves don't get lost.

Also, since this thread now exists: blanket congrats to ALL of you who have had your babies already. Hopefully those of you whose LOs came early have a short & sweet NICU stay and get to go home soon. And that those of you who are home now are getting all the snuggles and rest you deserve.

I thought we had agreed to do the pinned, quick "had the baby" no comments thread, which is there and then people were free to post their birth stories as they wished, open for comments etc. I personally HATE (maybe this is a U/O and I should save for Thursday) long, drawn out threads that have a gajillion comments and are so pic heavy it feels like you are trying to load the WWW on Windows 95. Also, first person posts their birth story, then 10 people post theirs, what is the point of saying congrats to each person, KWIM?

Yes- totally agree! I usually don't even click on threads that have tons of replies. My iPad doesn't like it so I just don't bother. I like the idea of individual posts for birth stories if people go to the trouble of writing everything out.

This is what I was assuming would happen too. When I have my baby I'll post a short thing on that announcement thread and then when I have the chance to write out the birth story I will make my own thread and put it there (and then go back to the announcement thread and link my birth story to my previous post)...if that makes sense....

I guess I really don't see what the big deal is either way....... I read the April posts and loved them so I thought it was a great idea. If you don't want to read the thread, no one is forcing you to , but as PP have said, I am also a STM and I know how chaotic it is so most people just put the birth announcement in the other thread. I thought if we had a place to put birth stories it would be nice for those who choose to type it and put it in..... This is an app so everything is optional.... You don't have to look at it or put anything in it if you don't want to....
I am truly just loving what I see in the April thread....

I *think* the point is that most people want to read birth stories, but having one thread is the most annoying way to do it. If I am remembering correctly the general consensus was chatter free simple announcement (already pinned above) then post your personal birth story when you have time.

ETA: Because I missed it the first time: did you seriously just say that because this is an app that everything is optional? Please give me a moment while I get right with Jesus.

I, for one, loathe the massive threads. They are hard to keep up on and if you don't check it for 1 day, you are 300 posts behind. It may crowd our feed but I think the individual threads make much more sense. And we don't have to read a thousand "congrats!" comments to get to the next story.

So I guess the consensus is this is a terrible idea. So sorry... But clearly non of you went over to April to check it out. You would see there are only 18 posts, all of them are birth stories aside from the original post. No other comments just likes. This has become completely overcome with negativity on the wonderful subject so let's just let this thread die and call it a day.
Again I just loved their setup. So very sorry I tried....

@VS2016 Meh, I wouldn't sweat it one bit. I think plenty of people prefer this route, so I would leave it! I don't see the need why we need to discuss the format of a thread ad nauseam.

I realize I'm being hypocritical since I'm adding more unnecessary dialogue to the thread. I just didn't want @VS2016 to feel bad for no reason.

PS, I thought I was going to get to read at least ONE birth story when I was here. Dangit!

I love this idea. And agree that, yes, because it is an app of which an individual downloaded that it does indeed mean everything is optional because it is the individual who decides what threads they open and what threads they do not. I don't see the issue with having one thread of comment free birth announcements, a birth story thread, and, if one chooses to do so, post an individual birth announcement. Just do as you please! Congrats to all the moms and good luck to the rest of us that still have some weeks to go

Hahahaha, did you forget where you are? 3 options?!? No way, that cannot be a possibility, not on TB. < insert extreme sarcasm here >

Also, I did post saying things like "I think" and "if I remember correctly" I just don't remember what the post was called to search for it. I'm down for whatever format, just so everyone is on the same page and it can get pinned, even though there will always be randos who do whatever they want. And there will be someone who gets all butt hurt when they take the time to write out a birth story and it gets buried, or they don't get enough love tits or congrats. ETA: basically you can't please everyone, I wanted to add that just in case it wasn't clear enough!!

The "it's an app and you can just keep scrolling" remarks are just as silly as the "you're just hormonal" ones.

Side note... if you haven't already gone out and checked out April's birth story thread... it's amazing and it makes me feel so much more prepared for all the possibilities. I made DH read it too. It is awesome.

So my birth story is 3 weeks early. I was really looking for a 4 week due date. New job, new paycheck you know. Well it was not to be. After 1 real contraction, the gotta stop talking now kind, the week before i started feeling period like cramps once or twice a day. Of course this started the day after my doc appt so there was no internal check. My period cramps have always been one continuous feeling so nothing to count or time. I was nesting like crazy on Saturday, got alot done but not enough. I asked my sister if she'd experienced the cramping but it wasn't the same. I told her i felt like if i wasn't prepared he'd come early but if i got my life together he'd stick it out. Well i sure wasn't ready at 6am Sunday morning. I was awake, because you know bathroom break, when the pain, nay disconfomt, hit again. Very slight cramping. I was telling myself to tell the doc at my appt on Monday when i felt the bubble popping. I was able to save the bed not my poor underwear. Water broke at 6am almost precisely. After a call to on call nurse we were on our way. Triage for 3 hours labor and delivery for maybe an hour before they wanted to get pitocen on board. 1cm in triage, after 9hrs of laboring cervix checked revealed...1cm. Nooooo! I'd given in to epi at that point cause back labor is real. The numb was cool but one of the reasons i wasn't getting it was because drugs don't last long or effect me the way they should. Didn't last near long enough. Peanuts are the greatest because after no progress all day, 1 hr on peanut had me complete and ready to push. Yay! But no, pushed for 1hr with no results so to a brake and let gravity assist. By the time we got rolling again 1.5hr later epi was in fade mode and the pressure was real. I had to have a stronger dose of epi administered as well as zofran for vomiting before it was over. 5 hrs of pushing before the doctor asked if it was okay if we did a Vacuum assist. As i could feel him right on the edge but not quite crowing for some time i was good. The room went from my husband, sister and a nurse to a swarm of people and activity. Within 10 minutes it was over and his cries filled the room. Didnt get immediate skin skin and they didnt even ask hubby to cut the cord but it was done. Let me just say, it was more painful when they put in the vacuum then when i was pushing. But despite the exhaustion and repeated pain, not being ready at all, I'm glad he's here. Cause I'm not pregnant anymore! Whoooooo, yes!
Oh didn't find out until after that the reason it took so long and hurt so much was because he was head down, but not butt up or facing the right direction. So just shy of transverse. So glad no c-section.
