Today is the first day I am "sportin' the bump" at work - wore my first form fitting shirt in several weeks and was feeling kind of confident. And then...my co-worker said, "Just wait, you're going to lose your waist any day now, so just get ready. And it probably won't come back." Really?!
Ugh, why are people the worst? Sorry that happened to you.
Kind of random annoyance. I originally created a bump account but couldn't figure out how to update my username and it was kind of identifying prior to any official announcements. Today all my posts are under my original account even though I'm logged in to the other account. Weird but whatever. We are officially announced now so no harm
I'm here. I should be doing homework, but I'm half-assedly studying for a very important quiz tomorrow and watching bad TV on Amazon Prime. I went to urgent care this morning to get antibiotics for a ragingly awesome toe infection, and now I'm soaking my foot in Epsom salts and googling Cephalexin use in pregnancy (Cat B and better than dying of a friggen toe infection, I suppose).
My DS is obsessed with Princess Mononoke. For those who haven't seen it, it's a Japanese cartoon movie and it's fairly violent (but not gorey). I'm not sure if this makes me a bad parent but I let him watch it when he asks. At this point, anything is better than watching Cars at least 2x a day.
@Kaessi To offer some support, fuck that person seriously... and to add some hope, I actually GAINED a better waist and figure overall after pregnancy. I was kind of narrow and boyish shaped, but now I have those feminine hour glass curves I always desired because my hips spread some. I lost my weight with both, and honestly love my "mom bod" better than my pre-mom bod.
@rebeccuh I believe a WCW would definitely be in order if we started an MCM!
@TurtleMomma um watching Miyazaki movies with your son make you the BEST mom! Duh! Has he seen Kiki's Delivery Service? That's my fave, so cute and definitely kid appropriate.

We actually watched it this morning! I have the collectors edition Miyazaki box set and I'll show him the box and he points to what he wants to watch. Nine times out of ten it's Mononoke though, lol.
Okay you guys. I have a dilemma and anyone with experience or advice is welcome!
Im going with SO to Preakness in Baltimore this year! It's May 21st and neither of us have ever been. I am in desperate need of a great dress. Thoughts on styles, where to get one, and the weather there during that time of the year? I don't want to get a long dress and sweat or stick out if its a short dress kinda thing - and I don't wanna get a short dress that isn't dressy enough or if I'm going to be cold, etc. I need help! I never need dresses for fancy things! (But then again, I could be making this fancier than it really is.)
Anyone able to pitch in ideas? Price isn't really an issue but I'd like to keep it under $100.
@sjo&thetwins ; if it were me, I'd go with something classic that you can dress up with some fancy jewelry or a fancy hat. Have zero experience with this event or weather, but I imagine what I'd do is channel my inner Kate Middleton. Lol. Modcloth has awesome dresses and so does J Crew. (classic cuts, classic colors)
@sjo&thetwins I live in Baltimore and used to go to Preakness every year. Question, are you doing the infield or are you sitting in the stands? Preakness weekend has been hot and ridiculously humid every year in recent memory so a light and airy dress is key. If you're sitting in the stands, you'll get a little more relief from the heat and will want to go a little famcier but in the infield there is absolutely no shade and people basically dress the way the would for any type of outdoor festival so no need to be fancy. Also, wear and bring all the sunscreen and all the water! It's HOT and crowded I'm the infield and lines for drinks will be long.

@MRSCORKER its in the infield but her work is the one having us come out and she said there are air conditioned tents with all the food and water we can need. So still a light and airy dress. Got it. Are hats a thing down thing? We have steeple chase and the Carolina cup here and it's the really big floppy hats.

Oh, perfect! It's been a while since I went but from what I remember, people in the general infield don't typically do hats but for a private tent, I'm betting they will. The AC, food and water is KEY. I'm so glad you have that, I wasn't going to say anything but being in the general infield while pregnant sounds miserable. lol. It's basically a huge frat party with no shade and no where to sit. I did a private tent one year and it was a much different experience. Very classy and fun! I would still go with a light and airy summer dress because you'll likely venture to the edge of the races to see the horses or place bets. If you're staying in B-More for a few days and need any recommendations, PM me! Baltimore gets a bad reputation but it's an awesome city!
ETA: I will second the recommendation for Modcloth. They have some super cute retro stuff and you can usually find some good deals. I haven't seen their maternity collection but I've had good experiences with them in the past.

@MRSCORKER thank you so much! We are so excited. Love watching the triple crown races so it's cool to go to one of them. Unfortunately we leave Sunday but I wont be hungover so i won't care. I will def check out Modcloth. Thanks y'all!
@TurtleMomma and @LGW2015 My family loves Miyazaki and we introduced our DD to his films at a very young age. Her favorite is My Neighbor Totoro and we've been able to find a few Totoro decorations for her room!
@MRSCORKERand @sjo&thetwins I don't think ModCloth has maternity clothes, but they do have some cute stretchy dresses that would look good with a bump. Also, last pregnancy, if I wanted to buy a non-maternity dress that wasn't stretchy, I just bought one size larger than my normal size and they mostly fit fine. I think that method will work great with most fit and flare dresses.
I'm really sorry for this ranty post, but I have major MIL RAGE right now. I made the mistake of sending my ultrasound pics from our NT scan this morning to my MIL. She immediately insisted she saw a penis and declared it a boy. I told her and even sent her photo evidence that girls and boys have similar looking nubs at this stage and nothing has been determined yet. She said, make sure Ben doesn't see the pictures because he wants to be surprised. And I again said there's nothing to see. I said sex can't be determined right now unless it's through a blood test. She then said well yeah, it kinda is...I mean you can clearly see a penis. Arrrrrrrrgh!!! It's like talking to a brick wall! She texted me for an HOUR about this. Then she said I promise I won't tell and I'm so excited our DD will have a little brother. This woman. She also proclaimed last pregnancy that our ultrasound tech was wrong and that I'd have a boy because she's had 5 children and 5 grandchildren and she's never been wrong. Except with my DD. Yep, so wrong. I was so happy. Sorry I'm bitter. I'm not sure what this is...just feeling super ragey today.
@rozANDbenSINCE2001 I feel you on the MIL rage. My MIL's bday is 10/14 and I swear I will hold this baby in until after midnight if I'm in labor because I cannot give her the satisfaction. If I were you, I would be hoping for a girl just for this reason. Lol.

thanks @annabenanna! I just got it Saturday. standing appointment bc really living at the beach your feet need to be ready at all times!
and @lgw2015 the change in offices gives me beach after work and a raise! and the interview was the day I ovulated for this baby! been a good few months
@mrscorker I'm not above spite. I welcome spite. Hahahaha. I'm seriously considering just telling her we decided to go team green just to be extra, extra mean. I couldn't imagine having one of my kids share a birthday with her--she would just die of smugness. You hold that baby in, girl. Team Spite all the way!
Yesterday, little neighbor kids were yelling inappropriate shit, literally sexually harassing me, out a window while whoever was watching them didn't do their job. WTAF???
But, what I'm more concerned about is, with the new mobile app format, how do I find the "How Big is Baby" section?
@UponAStar16 When I click the home button at the bottom of my screen, it usually pops up. Is that not what's happening for yours? The new app really threw me off too, but I think I like it now.
@rozANDbenSINCE2001 nope home on the bottom sends me to a screen with just the welcome back, update my status option or home menu, and if I click the home menu it only gives me the options: update my status, ages and stages, and topics. Mine used to automatically show up so I don't even know where to look because I've looked and just found those Q&A or regular articles, not the week-by-week images and descriptions...
@sjo&thetwins Hope you have a great time! @mrscorker I don't think I knew you were in Baltimore. I'm on the Eastern Shore, but we head that way all the time to see the IL's (and the O's, of course )
@ashleyp625 GO O's!!!! I cannot wait to take this LO to Camden yards! Motherhood Maternity has "Future O's Fan" shirts too. I'm gonna buy one this week!

@rozANDbenSINCE2001 Your MIL sounds like my biological mother and step mother... I can not STAND how they absolutely insist on always being correct about everything because "they just know".
Not sure where to put this question, so into the randoms post it goes. Our son will be 2.5 when the second is born. He currently sleeps in a crib and has shown no signs of trying to climb out. I originally thought we'd get him a bed with rails and switch him to that before the second is born, but after talking to some friends, it seems like it might be better to just buy a second crib for new baby and leave oldest in his crib as long as possible, then use the conversion kit to turn it into a toddler bed when he starts climbing out. Does anyone with two kids have a preference?
Our son will be 2 in June and if we can get him back to sttn we will give him big kid room with either a mattress on the floor or real bed with rails. New baby will get the crib. I don't want to end up with two cribs and also I know when I get big, I won't want to be bending into the crib. Our plan is to make the transition this summer.
@MRSCORKER *waves* I saw you said you are near Baltimore. We just moved over by Frederick.
Hey neighbor! It's beautiful out there! I was just driving by Frederick on my way to the Hageratown Outlets on Sunday. One of DH and my favorite non-pregnant activities is wine/beer tasting at Linganore followed by shopping and dinner in old Frederick .

@AllyTheKid Isn't it obnoxious? I try to be civil and reasonable, but after so much persistence, I just snap and I get really short and attitude-y. Then I feel bad. But ugh, I can't stand her. I used to love her, but she flipped a switch when we got married or something. She's getting worse as she gets older...
