Anyone else really itchy? I've been getting itchy at night. I think it affects my legs to become restless. I've been itchy during the day too. Not so bad to where I'm scratching and breaking the skin. I just don't feel comfortable in my own skin. I know itchy skin can be a symptoms of cholestasis but I feel like all these symptoms can be just 3rd trimester crap. Anyone else with the itchy skin!?
Yes. The areas on my thighs where I have stretch marks itch like crazy and under side of my bump. Also getting little red bumps where the itching is on the belly.. No idea what it's from but drives me crazy.

Yes especially on my belly. I've seen a couple of small red bumps and I'm hoping it's just irritation not the beginning of PUPPS! But also a little on my arms and legs and I've been moisturizing like crazy which does seem to be helping a bit.

I'm itchy too but I've attributed some of it to my allergies and spring rustling something in the air. Benadryl has helped me.

YES omg. It's mainly my legs, and I've only noticed it at night, whether I'm in bed or on the couch or whatever. I've been making a point to remind myself to put some lotion on in case they're just dry, but it doesn't seem to help much. I've also been assuming it's just psychological, because it's only really noticeable in the evenings when there's not as much to do or I'm trying to sleep or when my husband is out at work and I'm home alone and bored, etc.

ohey we must be having the same baby

    wait...that doesn't make sense...

point being: cake and cheeseburgers are my life.

I get lean beef and make my own patties at home so I can just microwave (edit to add - meaning I cook them and then microwave to reheat!) and throw on a small bun...I can keep my cheeseburgers to 300 calories or less this way.
I also get mini cupcakes from Giant - 90 calories each... but, really, the best thing is this vegan cake (locally made) that I get at whole foods (something I used to eat when vegan)...it's just so expensive...but it's so good and I swear it keeps me full while other cake doesn't...

  • @cortney626 I end up feeling itchy where I'm swollen by night time...so basically everywhere below the belly button. It's a very different sort of itchy than when I had PUPPS with my first.
  • @AliciaD39 last pregnancy my doctor let me go into labor on my own but I had an induction scheduled for my due date and I delivered on my own at 39+4. My new doctor isn't so lenient and is taking a more cautious approach this time. I had one reading 140/80 and she's pushing for an induction next Friday when I'm 38+2. My bp has been otherwise consistent at 120/70. The most annoying part was having to have the bp cuff on during my entire labor.

@kbrands7 That is adorable! DS stands with his hands on his lower back when I do, but no breathing changes. He does giggle when I take a multi-step approach to standing up from the ground.

Right above my ankles have been so itchy lately, to the point where I scratch at night and have broke skin. I've also had a weird itch on my right shoulder for quite a few months now, no marks or anything but that one shoulder will get wicked itchy

@AliciaD39 I am being induced Monday because I have had high blood pressure combined with urine in protein and dropping platelets. 140/90 seemed to be the BP number that got things rolling for me. However, mine haven't Been that high all the time but combined with the other issues they are insisting on inducing.
Can I ask what your BP was before? Also, your urine test and Platelets?

I know now that my BP is creeping up, my protein is high, but platelets are normal. Obviously I will do what's best for the baby but I really want to make it to 36 weeks. Trying to understand the tipping point

My platelets dropped to 141, my protein was 430. My "usual" bp is 118/60 so when it  jumped up to being consistently in the high 130's/70's with a couple 141/70-80's they got concerned.

I'm really surprised to see these numbers and induction. My first high bp reading was 142/80 and the following was 150/88...a few days ago I had a 160/80 at home on my monitor and had 550 protein with the first catch, 600 with the second catch last week and I haven't even been put on bed rest. With my first high bp and urine catch they called to tell me I was showing as slightly anemic as well and advised me to start an iron supplement. I'm 35w1d and they're not talking an induction until 38 weeks unless my bp gets "really out of control". They said if I remain along the lines that I have been they'll let me go into labor on my own up until 40 weeks.
  • I will be 38 weeks when they induce. I pushed back until I was that far along. There are lots of factors in play not just BP, at least for me. Those are just the numbers that started the process of diagnosing with preeclampsia. I think, just like everything, every midwife/doctor and hospital is slightly different. @AliciaD39 don't be afraid to ask lots of questions and I hope you get to hold off for a little while longer!!
  • @cortney626 not itchy yet but it brings back terrible memories from my last pregnancy. My stomach itched so bad I could not sleep.  No cream helped.  But I was also covered with stretch marks.

This. My new doctor said that ACOG guidelines call for induction 37-38 weeks and that their practice follows that protocol, while the doctor that referred me to them allowed me to go essentially to term last time. We had a long conversation about it, I made my case for having controlled hypertension thus far and obviously if I spike repeatedly before next Friday they won't let me wait since I'm already within their timeframe. But I really pushed for 38+ and honestly I'm hoping to avoid it, but I know how quickly it can escalate so I know they're being cautious for a reason. Ask your doctor for a detailed plan, I know it's scary but just remember you're being induced for a medical reason not because you want to. That's what's helped me cope with the decision.
  • @kbrands7  DS has said he "has fire in his chest", when I questioned it he said it was because of baby sister! I asked if he was ok, and he said "Yeah, pretty ok." Also, he "forklifts" me out of toddler bed after I lay down for our routine nighttime snuggles before sleep lol

  • The whole cut off for BP is confusing for me too. I have not had an alarming amount of protein in my urine, and my blood work has all come back good. But I have had PIH but the last two weeks it's come down to readings like 140/85 or 135/90 at the doctor's office. It is often much lower at home or when monitored for hours at the hospital I will have two or three normal readings and then a high reading. My OB was talking about maybe letting me go to 38 weeks just on Thursday. But when I saw my MFM on Friday he said absolutely not it would be 37 weeks. I know the concern is that pre-eclampsia can come on quickly but I was kind of hoping for the extra week. It doesn't help that my little guy has not dropped yet and is not in the ideal position yet. But I am very excited to meet my son even though this will not be the natural birth I had hoped for. :)

I think I would kill someone right now for some watermelon and chicken alfredo. No clue why that combo but it sounds amazing. Anyone else with weird cravings? Please tell me I'm not alone.
I want watermelon SO bad! It's just not good yet :(
Me too. I dream of watermelon.
    YES ALL THE WATERMELON!!

Someone brought a mixed bag of fruit with watermelon to Easter Dinner and I have been dreaming about it since.  I've only been able to get some good pre-cut stuff once so far though. :(

Oh and tonight when I got home from work I noticed swelling in the legs and feet has appeared.  Yaaay.  I probably have had it for a while, but just didn't notice because I've been keeping socks and long pj bottoms on due to how cold it's still been.

@ncm0328 what was your BP before it jumped?

Same me on other factors, but I know you have mentioned your health troubles in the past too.

They told me I will not go past 36 weeks, but I've had readings all day around the 156/101 mark so I'm honestly expecting them to induce me Monday. I'll call them tomorrow if it goes over 160 consistently.

For me, it's a combination of the pre-eclampsia and them watching that I do not regress into
heart failure again. The high BP really bothers them. My urine catch was at 400, but they said they probably wouldn't make me do that again as they would watch me through the platelet and BP testing.

Going in Monday morning for an induction... After third high bp in a row and trace proteins in my urine we are having our baby boy! Always 3.5 centimeters dilated and soft so hopefully it will be a speedy delivery!
Prayers for baby boy and you!! How far along are you?

@AliciaD39 my bp didn't go over 115/65 prior to the initial high reading of 142/80...I can't recall what my platelets were at but they called me and told me I needed to take an iron supplement as well as focus on incorporating iron rich foods, and then my protein was at 550 at that initial catch as well. All they did was bump me up to once a week appts and have me get hooked up for NST after my weekly appt. No bed rest, nothing. Granted my bp and protein have remained high yet have been climbing slowly, which I believe is why they aren't too terribly worried about things just yet and are simply just keeping a closer eye on me. It seems as though your bp has jumped quite a bit and I'm glad they're taking things seriously, especially given the history with your heart condition. Whether they induce you Monday, or allow baby to stay put just a little longer, everything will be ok and they've got your and baby's health and best interest in mind. Hang in there!
  • has anyone lost weight in the last couple weeks?? I'm 36 weeks, I've gained 50lb this pregnancy... I last weighed myself 2 weeks ago,  I've lost 4lb since that day.  It just seems weird because this is the time when baby is gaining the most weight

For several weeks I've either been losing or maintaining. No one seems to be concerned and this LO keeps getting bigger so I'm sure it's fine.

Everyone has told me to expect to loose weight. Seems to be normal.

I've still been gaining steadily. Although, I didn't gain much in the first and second trimester and I've been swelling like a baloon, so it's probably a combination of that weight from first and second tri catching up to me and water retention weight.
  • I will be 37 weeks 3 days tomorrow

I haven't gained in about 3 weeks but baby definitely has grown judging by my stretchies! That's all that matters. It's normal for mom to not gain much weight/lose in the last month
  • Oh my god...I think it's happened to me...I think I have the varicose veins in my vagina. Actually I have no idea what's going on but from those of you who described it earlier I can only presume that's what it is. So weird!!!! Kinda like a hemorrhoid in your vag right? Except doesn't hurt...
  • I have all the hip pain, sometimes so bad I can't roll onto my other side. I'm a fairly small person, 4'10 with a slight body frame so baby looks and feels huge on me. He is currently laying on a nerve in my spine causing me some intense back aches which sometimes makes me worried it's back labor. My mom had back labor for me and all my sisters and it feels as she's described. Him pressing on my spine also makes my legs suddenly spaghetti? Like I've grown accustomed to sudden dead legs.

The lightening crotch is by far the worst of it though seeing as LO is quite far down according to my scans and is literally knocking me with his giant head while I walk.
  • False labor can kiss my big butt! My body has been pranking me all weekend and I am soooo over it.
Me too!!! I've been uncomfortable all weekend but the intensity hasn't increased and things have stayed about 30-45 min apart so I haven't called the Dr.

  • @ayeshaohara most of the time mine doesn't hurt, but sometimes it does when I'm going number two or if I have been on my feet too long.  Weirdest pregnancy symptom ever.

I seriously think I'm going to be one of those weirdos who goes to the hospital way too late because between ALL the aches, pains, BH, and discharge I don't know if I'll actually think I'm in labor when the time comes. I was in intense pain in my back and was having occasional (what I thought) were BH or maybe real contractions last night but chalked it up to overexerting myself with chores and prepping baby's room all day. Obviously turned out to be fine but DH asked me if I thought we should go to the hospital when he saw me hobbling from bed to the bathroom in obvious pain.
This is how I feel too. With my first I was induced and I have a repeat c section scheduled. All these aches and pains are new to me. Last night I was feeling way off, sick, uncomfortable, pressure, pain, etc. I just figured it's 3rd trimester fun.
  • @cortney626 exactly! And my OB said that I'll "just know" when it's the real deal so I'm really hoping she's right.

This. Apparently when I was at the hospital having my BP monitored I was having pretty decent contractions. Nothing regular, so ruled as false labor, but I couldn't feel them. Many people asked if I could and I never did. When I told my doula the pressure reading from them she asked if I was sure I couldn't feel them. Apparently in several people's words... I have the pain tolerance of an ox. I'm hoping this will help me in labor but of course now I'm worried I won't notice till it's too late. And of course it doesn't help that the birth center is 45 mins from home...
