Starting this now due to other September FTMs agreed this would be nice to have. I think having this every wednesday would be great, however if majority rules for a different day and how often this occurs, I am all for it and not the type to be "I started the thread. Its MY choice"
I am also going to start this one today with some generic questions but if anyone else has suggestions on great questions different from our normal ticker change threads pertaining to being a FTM, that would be great!
I would also like to add that any STM or *insert how many kids you have*moms would like to read and give advise are absolutely welcome.

Again like I said these questions can be changed/added to whatever works.
Re: FTM Weekly Check-In 4/13
How many weeks? 18w6d oddly enough my ticker change is tomorrow.
Any Movement? Nope and I am honestly jealous of those who do have it. I want that kick to the bladder at the wrong time and have to secretly hide the fact I peed a little when it happened.
Team Blue/Pink/Green/Purple? Team Blue!!!! First child will be a Boy and hubby is very happy. He had an older biological sister and older step/brother and he preferred his Bro over Sis when it came to having a sibling to look up to/protected by.
Worst advise that has been given to you to date? Try not to handle cash at all while pregnant because its very dirty and can make you sick more. I work Full time as a Credit Union teller... -_-
Best advise that has been given to you to date? Your Body, Your Pregnancy, Your Baby. I have used this already today too here on another post.
Current fears/anxieties? I was pretty good about not worrying too much at all my other doctor appointments involving a sneak peak at baby. Now with my offical anatomy growth scan coming up at 20 weeks I am terrified something could be wrong. I have no reason to believe he would have something wrong I just now have it in my brain that this is too good to be true.
Random GTKY Question? Since its the first , give a small (or big whichever you prefer) intro about you and SO? Mine will be big.
Hubby and I are highschool sweethearts! He is even my very first, obviously last and upgraded to Hubby, boyfriend. We met my Sophomore year and his Junior Year. He proposed the same year we graduated and during our first semester of college but it was more like a promise ring. Finally decided to get hitched and he decides to join the United States Air Force finally. I say Finally because he is a military brat and his parents sorta thought he would follow in their foot steps but he was totally against it during highschool and beginning years of college. Married by court house before papers were signed and we lived kid free for 2 years of our marriage. We had fur kids of course though. Started trying before our 3 year anniversary but it just wasn't meant to be. We were suppose to stop during December due to upcoming PCS would make me due the month we have to move and I just assumed since I hadnt been KU yep it wouldnt happen then either. Well life decided to give us a challenge and we are now due with our Son two days after his scheduled leave deros date. I will most likely be traveling across two countries during my third trimester or face my fears and fly.

Team Blue/Pink/Green/Purple: team blue but waiting for a/s to confirm
Worst advise that has been given to you to date? This is awful, but I tend to zone out when people give me advice
Best advise that has been given to you to date? See above
Current fears/anxieties? Anxious because I'm not really showing and don't feel anything. I also haven't had an ultrasound since before 9 weeks and I want to know he's on par with growth and everything looks good.
Random GTKY Question? Since its the first , give a small (or big whichever you prefer) intro about you and SO?
My name is Theresa, I am 26 and DH (Chris) is 27. We met in college. I first saw him when I was freshman and immediately told my roommate how I thought he was hot. I had a crush on him ever since, but we didn't officially meet and start dating until 5 years later, after he had graduated and I was in my grad school years. We married in August 2014 and weren't exactly TTC but we are so happy nonetheless

Any Movement?
I started feeling flutters a few weeks ago, but now I feel lots of movement, at least when the babies aren't both facing my spine like they are right at the moment. Right now I feel sort of wriggling instead of kicks.
Team Blue/Pink/Green/Purple:
For now, we're team green (with an early, unofficial guess of team blue), but our anatomy scan is next Friday. Ideally, we'd be team purple, but we'll be happy no matter what.
Worst advise that has been given to you to date?
"You know you don't actually have to eat for two." As in, I don't actually have to double my caloric intake. I know. I'm not stupid.
Best advise that has been given to you to date?
Don't worry so much about things like eating lunch meat or soft cheeses. My OB told me that if I were going to avoid them, then I might as well avoid going outside because I might get hit by lightning and that he'd only ever seen one case of listeriosis, back in 1983.
Current fears/anxieties?
Just had a good ultrasound on Monday, so I'm feeling pretty okay, but I'd say my current anxiety is that there will be something wrong on the anatomy scan.
Random GTKY Question? Since its the first , give a small (or big whichever you prefer) intro about you and SO?
I'm Holly. I'm 33 (will be 34 a month or two after the babies are born, depending on when they decide to make their entrance) and my husband just turned 35. I currently don't work, but I have a MA and BA in psychology and used to work as a therapist for autistic kids. DH works in tech support. We've been married almost 11 years and have been together since high school. An ex-mutual friend introduced us and we've been together ever since. We talked about marriage almost from the beginning but got engaged when I was 21 and he was 22.
I've wanted to start trying since we got married, but DH wanted to wait for various reasons and we finally started trying in October of 2014. After 6 months of trying naturally without success, we went to see an RE (who found nothing physically wrong with either of us, other than a couple minor hormonal issues for me: the elevated but under control prolactin I already knew I had and slightly low thyroid) and started fertility treatments (IUI's for several rounds, one of which resulted in a CP, and then our first round of IVF, which was successful and resulted in the twins I'm currently pregnant with).
● IUI #2: BFP - early M/C
● IUI #3: BFN
● IUI #4: BFN
● IVF/FET #1 (2 transferred): BFP! TWINS!
● FET #2 (1 transferred): BFP! BOY #3!
● Natural #1: BFP - M/C @ 8 weeks
● Natural #2: BFP - M/C @ 5w5d
Good thread idea!
How many weeks? 19w 5d
Any Movement? Started at 19w on the dot! Everyone was right- you can definitely tell the difference between gas and movement once it starts happening more consistently.
Team Blue/Pink/Green/Purple Green!
Worst advise that has been given to you to date? My aunt told me to not cross my legs today because it can cause blood clots. Sounds fake but okay sure lady.
Best advise that has been given to you to date? To not let worries or anxiety get in the way of enjoying this pregnancy.
Current fears/anxieties? Having the most anxiety about dealing with family hovering after the birth. Hopefully they understand its bonding time for baby and parents.
Random GTKY Question? Since its the first , give a small (or big whichever you prefer) intro about you and SO? College sweethearts!
How many weeks? 18w2d
Any Movement? Maybe a little starting a day or so ago? Not sure if baby or gas...
Team Blue/Pink/Green/Purple Team Green! Partly to avoid too many gendered gifts (more for reuse than anything else), and partly because I want DH to be able to have something that is special and his. He'll know before I do, which can't really be said for other pregnancy stuff!
Worst advice that has been given to you to date? Someone (maybe on this board? Sorry, if it was you, reader!) told me I was not under any circumstances to touch a receipt because the chemicals would seep into my skin and harm the baby.
Best advice that has been given to you to date? Don't be ashamed to pamper yourself and listen to your body's needs. If you are tired, sleep. If you are hungry, eat. Your body is growing another human! It will tell you what it needs, and that might not be what your friends' bodies need.
Current fears/anxieties? I had an early loss in November, so I'm still anxious over silent miscarriages and late term loss. Not feeling movement yet isn't helping, but I don't have any specific symptoms to be concerned about. Also, we'll be moving sometime late in the pregnancy, so I have a fear of laboring on the highway between Birmingham and Atlanta...
Random GTKY Question? Since its the first , give a small (or big whichever you prefer) intro about you and SO? DH is a nuclear engineer and I teach high school physics. We started dating in university, about 9 years ago, and have been married 5.5 yrs. We're so excited to start growing out little family.
How many weeks? 17w5d
Any Movement? I don't think so... maybe? I feel things that are more like gas but I can't wait til I know it's the baby for sure.
Team Blue/Pink/Green/Purple 2.5 weeks until we find out! I can't wait to know and start really working on a name.
Worst advise that has been given to you to date? Stop doing exercises on your back from someone at my gym - I'm not even showing yet and my midwife cleared it.
Best advise that has been given to you to date? Use your best judgement and listen to your body.
Current fears/anxieties? I heard the heart beat again this week so that gave me some relief from the anxiety that something will go wrong. I'm still nervous for the anatomy scan but I'm mostly excited. I also can't wait until I actually look pregnant with a bump.
Random GTKY Question? Since its the first , give a small (or big whichever you prefer) intro about you and SO? I'm Stephanie and I've been married for 3 years this summer to my husband Adam. We met 9 years ago at a summer job and long distance dated while in different colleges in different states for 3 long years until we graduated. We have a dog who we adore and have been in our house 4 years now. I'm a child and family therapist and my husband is a mechanical engineer.

How many weeks? 16 weeks, 3 days
Any Movement? I'm honestly not sure. There's been a few times I thought it had kicked my bladder, but it might have been something else.
Team Blue/Pink/Green/Purple I hopefully find out tomorrow.
Worst advise that has been given to you to date? Not so much advice, but listening to all of the people who freaked out over how big I got, how fast. I gained like 12 lbs by week 8. I stayed at about that weight for about a month and since then I have gained about 8 lbs. It freaks you out when everyone else is freaking out about how big you have gotten, for that time frame.
Best advise that has been given to you to date? To enjoy being pregnant.
Current fears/anxieties? I'm still always worried about something going wrong, and somehow loosing the baby. I will feel better after tomorrows appointment when I see the baby and see that everything is ok. It's hard waiting those 4 weeks between appointments to see that everything is ok.
Random GTKY Question? Since its the first , give a small (or big whichever you prefer) intro about you and SO?
I am a Special Education teacher. My husband and I will celebrate our 3rd Wedding anniversary in May. We will celebrate our 10th anniversary as a couple in August. He works in IT. In my spare time I knit, loom knit, crochet, and make jewelry.
How many weeks? 15+6
Any Movement? Not yet!! I know it's still early. I'm hoping within the next couple of weeks.
Team Blue/Pink/Green/Purple: we'll find out in a few weeks
Worst advise that has been given to you to date? Haven't really had any bad advice yet I don't think...
Best advise that has been given to you to date? Probably just to try to stop worrying so much? Spent most of the first trimester really worrying about everything, which I know is normal, but it was good to have people tell me it's ok not to!
Current fears/anxieties? I don't really have any fears/anxieties about immediate things, I just know that I know absolutely nothing about becoming a mom! I'm nervous for the years to come I guess, not necessarily about things right now.
Random GTKY Question? Since its the first , give a small (or big whichever you prefer) intro about you and SO? DH and I have been together for about 7 years now, and married for almost 2. We both are in our early 30s and work in the medical field in the Boston area. We'd love to end up with 2 children, although I feel so lucky to be on our way to our first so we'll see what happens!
How many weeks? 19 weeks and 5 days
Any Movement? Yes I can feel movement every once in a while, but it is not consistent yet. It is an awesome feeling though
Team Blue/Pink/Green/Purple Team Blue!
Worst advise that has been given to you to date? No coffee, (I drink a small cup every other day or so and I am fine)
Best advise that has been given to you to date? Don't listen to everyone else's opinions regarding names
Current fears/anxieties? Giving birth, raising a little boy
Random GTKY Question? Since its the first , give a small (or big whichever you prefer) intro about you and SO?
My husband and I have been married almost two years now. He is 22 and I will be 22 in a few weeks so we are very young. We have been together for 7 and a half years and he is my best friend. We can't wait to start this parenthood journey together
How many weeks? 16 +5
Any Movement? waiting patiently
Team Blue/Pink/Green/Purple: team blue
Worst advise that has been given to you to date? Nurse said to stop skiing at 13 weeks.
Best advise that has been given to you to date? OB called back to stay I was fine skiing until 16 weeks. 4 more glorious trips up the mountain after that phone call.
Current fears/anxieties? Zika virus blood test came back negative (huge relief), maternal fetal medicine (high risk OB) still wants to perform anatomy scan in a few weeks for zika markers on the placenta and fetus. DH and I went to Easter Island a couple weeks before we conceived.
Random GTKY Question? Since its the first, give a small (or big whichever you prefer) intro about you and SO? DH and I have been married a little over a year. We've been together 5 years and our favorite past time is hiking in the Sawtooths. He's a wildland firefighter and I'm a internal review auditor. We are very excited for this adventure.
How many weeks? 18 weeks 6 days!
Any Movement? Lots of little movements
Team Blue/Pink/Green/Purple Hopefully finding out tomorrow! Last time baby was kicking and moving too much to see anything, so at tomorrow's anatomy scan we can get a look
Worst advise that has been given to you to date? To pretend that I fall just so I can get an "extra" ultrasound.
Best advise that has been given to you to date? That this is my body, my baby, I make the decisions.
Current fears/anxieties? I am absolutely terrified of breastfeeding! I really want to do it but I am scared.
Random GTKY Question? Since its the first , give a small (or big whichever you prefer) intro about you and SO?
We met in December of 2011, I couldn't remember his name for the life of me. In February 2012 he came to a party at my house and we have been inseparable ever since. When we met I was going through a really hard time with my health and he stuck by my side every step of the way. We were told last year that I would not conceive on my own, which was a huge blow for both of us. Surprise surprise here we are!
We were planning on getting engaged already but especially with the baby on the way so valentines day he proposed.
He is my rock and I just don't know what I would do without him.
I just turned 23 and he is 26 so we are young but we are so ready for this new adventure!
love this thread idea!
How many weeks? 18 weeks 2 days
Any Movement? not yet
Team Blue/Pink/Green/Purple right now we are green but after anatomy scan we should know more!
Worst advise that has been given to you to date? my mom said I should wait to have the baby shower until after the baby is born because "sometimes you get all these gifts and no baby shows up"
Best advise that has been given to you to date? not to compare yourself to other pregnant people (it's hard!) there's a girl at my work 1 week behind me so it's hard not to compare growth
Current fears/anxieties? I didn't lose any weight in the first tri and have only gained 4 pounds so far. I know people try to compliment by saying how small I look, how they looked so much bigger at 18 weeks and things like "where are you hiding that baby?" But it makes me really anxious that the baby isn't growing on track. Hopefully will feel relief after the anatomy scan
Random GTKY Question? Since its the first , give a small (or big whichever you prefer) intro about you and SO? I'm Bekki and hubby is Jordan. I'm 25 and he's 31. We met where we worked while going to university. I was a waitress and he was a cook. It was a banquet hall so that's where we got married too! We've been married almost 3 years. Started TTC last June but my cycles were so wonky (ranged from 28 to 48 days) so finally took OPK and ended up getting pregnant that month since I could finally pinpoint ovulation. It ended up being good timing because I'll finish my masters in August! I work as a therapist in Intensive Behavioural Intervention for kids with autism and he is a computer programmer.
How many weeks? 17 weeks, 6 days
Any Movement? No movement yet that's definable, although I think I feel flutters at times, but can't discount it's gas or tummy rumbling. Look forward to getting that solid 'YES! That was a foot!' feeling.
Team Blue/Pink/Green/Purple We are team Green.
Worst advise that has been given to you to date? 'Stop worrying!' I understand it's from a good place, but telling a new mom that is like telling a fish to stop swimming.
Best advise that has been given to you to date? "Whatever happens, happens. We'll figure it out together." -My DH. Now this was the right thing to say to help calm my worries.
Current fears/anxieties? Is baby moving? Is it ok? Is what I'm eating harming it? Am I sleeping wrong? How will the anatomy scan go? That was a hard sneeze, did it do something to the baby? I drank wine that one night before I knew I was pregnant, is the baby still ok? Will my body be ok after birth? Does my DH still find me appealing or is he just telling me he does? (I swear when it comes to worrying about the baby/baby related things my brain never shuts off.)
Random GTKY Question? Since its the first , give a small (or big whichever you prefer) intro about you and SO? We celebrate 2 years of marriage this summer. Live in upstate NY with our pup and are enjoying the weather finally turning to Spring. We met online and it was love at first sight, we were inseparable after. We're both in our early thirties. He's an accountant and I'm in sales.
How many weeks? 20 tomorrow
Any Movement? none on my own but I felt a kick when I saw it on screen at the AS
Team Blue/Pink/Green/Purple Blue!!
Worst advise that has been given to you to date? Lots of coworkers are worried about me lifting anything. It's very sweet that they are concerned, but it makes me feel annoyed and helpless a lot of the time.
Best advise that has been given to you to date? "Don't read anything!" haha, this was from a good friend, and I'm glad she said this. I am a researcher and worrier, and my sister and neighbor have already given me 10-15 pregnancy books. I'm really trying to stay low key and not immediately google the crap out of everything I hear, or read every book cover to cover. We'll definitely take classes and prepare before baby comes, but I don't need to stress myself out researching pediatricians and car seats just yet. I'm trying to take this one day at a time and enjoy, which is totally new to me.
Current fears/anxieties? Before my AS it was lack of movement, and in general it's pre-term labor.
Random GTKY Question? Since its the first , give a small (or big whichever you prefer) intro about you and SO? We've dated for 10 years, and been married for 5. We were summer camp counselors together and I tried to set him up with a good friend for the longest time. We both work in IT, and I am in business school right now, graduating in May. We tried for 7 cycles before we got pregnant and at the time I was so worried about it, but now I marvel at God's timing because there is no way I could have had a baby during school + full time job.
Thanks for starting this @Smashbox29 ! I was just thinking it would be fun. One fun question for next time but not each time is how does your pregnancy compare to what you thought it would be.
How many weeks? 16w3d
Any Movement? Still debating was that baby or digestion...
Team Blue/Pink/Green/Purple Will find out in a month. H has been oddly talkative about how he wants a girl and has been telling everyone that. I hate that he is but have not told him to stop. I'm surprised I don't have a preference, I want to kids and one to be a girl and the order doesn't seem important. I really hate being asked what I want, I know I was guilty of asking others years ago....
Worst advise that has been given to you to date? First I want to say the STMs on here have been amazing, 70% of the the STMs in real live have been annoying as hell. Sleep now, like dude I know kid's don't sleep through the night but right now neither does my bladder and I've been having some messed up dreams so my sleep is bad now. The time to "rest" would have been before I got pregnant. I have a friend with a 4 month and says she is sleeping better than while pregnant. Life will never be the same, no shit sherlock, I thought everything would be the exact same *eye roll*. I had one "friend" laugh, not at anything we were saying just the being a parent is hard, I know. I also loathe hearing we did X or my did that and my kid/I'm fine. Yea, you smoking during pregnancy probably has nothing to do with your kid having asthma.....
Not advise but I really want to scream at the next person that asks either what I've been craving or if I've puked.
Best advise that has been given to you to date? Almost all from here lol. Um, maybe take all the hand me downs you can. I guess until I have this LO I won't know if that true or not. I like hearing every pregnancy and child are different. Still annoyed at some mom's I know.
Current fears/anxieties? I've scared H will be unreachable when I go into labor and I'll be by myself. No family or close friends around here, I think there is one person who I would want to call if I couldn't get ahold of H to go with me to the hospital.
Random GTKY Question? Since its the first , give a small (or big whichever you prefer) intro about you and SO? H and my best friend's moms went to high school together and have know each other there whole lives. H's mom dragged him and his brothers to her high school graduation party. That's were we officially met. we got married the year after I graduated from college (two years after he did). We waited to start trying till he was done with his phd and post doc. It took us seven cycles, not short but not very long either. I wish we were in a place to start trying three years before that but neither kids or DC is cheap.
How many weeks? 16+ 2
Any Movement? I'm not really sure. It feels like gas, but it's down by/on my pubic bone, so I'm thinking it's probably kicks. Still, it happens about an hour and a half after lunch every day, so it's probably gas...
Team Blue/Pink/Green/Purple Right now we're green. We'll find out when we can, but may keep it between the two of us.
Worst advice that has been given to you to date? My rugby team FREAKED out when I ran a warm-up lap with them. Then freaked again when I did some push-ups. I'm not really practicing or doing anything with contact, but to hear them I'm not pregnant, I'm dying.
Best advice that has been given to you to date? It's okay to not enjoy this. It doesn't mean you're going to be a bad mom.
Current fears/anxieties? Is this little one growing at the right pace? Is everything okay with him or her? Have I done something that's negatively effecting him or her? How am I going to transition to motherhood? Will I be good enough at it?
Random GTKY Question? Since its the first , give a small (or big whichever you prefer) intro about you and SO? My husband and I met through a mutual friend at a bar in 2010, were friends for a while, then decided to go for it. He's the most steadfast and calm person I've ever known, and I love him beyond belief! He works in government, and I was a medical biller for a few years. I just went back to school to finish college, and am hoping to go to nursing school after baby comes. We thought it'd take us more time to get pregnant, so I'm cramming in some summer classes to finish my pre-nursing work before September. It'll be interesting to see how school goes in the third trimester; but, I figure I made it through the 1st, so I'll be okay!
We're excited, and thankful for this baby, but nervous to see how we're going to transition from our current situation both playing sports and doing a lot of work/school to raising another person.
ETA: colors and words are hard!
How many weeks?- 19+4
Any Movement?- Yes, it happens more on some days than others.
Team Blue/Pink/Green/Purple- Pink!
Worst advise that has been given to you to date? - It wasn't so much advice as it was a comment, DH's aunt told me "labor will be the worst thing you ever experience in your life, the only good part is you get a baby at the end" I know I'm a FTM but I absolutely refuse to believe that labor has to be feel right out of a horror movie.
Best advise that has been given to you to date?- "Do your own research, be informed and know what you want your experience to be. Make a plan" This came from a close friend who had a beautiful home birth.
Current fears/anxieties? - That I'm not gaining enough weight, I have gained 4lbs since the start of this pregnancy. It just doesn't feel like enough.
Random GTKY Question? Since its the first , give a small (or big whichever you prefer) intro about you and SO?- DH and I met in middle school when I was 12, he was 13. I had noticed him around school for a long time and when a friend introduced me to her current boyfriend my heart sank, in the 12-year old manner that it does. Long story short DH and I were dating a month later and have been together ever since, the friend was also the photographer at our wedding. It will be 9 years together on the 22nd of this month and our wedding anniversary is 12 days before our due date.
Edit: Because bumping from mobile is ridiculous sometimes.
How many weeks? 17w 4 days
Any Movement? Yep! It started last week! While I'm glad to be feeling baby, I'm not exactly enjoying the sensation of his or her little kicks!
Team Blue/Pink/Green/Purple Happy to say that we're team green! DH wanted to find out forever, but he's finally on board.
Worst advise that has been given to you to date? I haven't really been given much advice besides from you ladies, but my sister makes a lot of assumptions about my pregnancy and thinks it will go exactly the same as hers.
Best advise that has been given to you to date?
Current fears/anxieties? Finding a day care center I can trust AND afford.
Random GTKY Question? Since its the first , give a small (or big whichever you prefer) intro about you and SO?
DH and I met in 2011 playing bar bingo with mutual friends. He liked me, but I was causally dating a few other men and wasn't really interested. It wasn't until the spring of 2012 that he caught my eye and seemed like a fun guy to be around. We started dating in the summer of 2012, married in winter 2015, and here we are!
@jhems776 I also can't stand that terrible advice. "Sleep while you can!" Like I didn't realize having a kid changes your sleep cycles. NOT HELPFUL INFO!
How many weeks? 19 tomorrow!
Any Movement? Yes, it feels like repetitive twitches. Started only on my left side, but now I feel it in the middle as well!
Team Blue/Pink/Green/Purple? Team Green! I love the idea of being surprised and we are registered for lots of neutral items which means we'll be able to use them for baby #2 eventually!
Worst advice that has been given to you to date? "Don't lift more than 20 pounds!" Uhh I thought that was totally unfair as a general rule especially since I'm trying to get yard work done! My midwife agreed and said that I should pay attention to how I feel and staying hydrated instead of worrying about exact weight. And what does that mean for moms with little kids over 20 pounds? They can't lift them for 9 months?! Yeah right.
Best advice that has been given to you to date? Go to La Leche League and hypnobirthing classes!
Current fears/anxieties? I worked in daycares for years and know that they're not at all what they're cracked up to be on tours...just finding a daycare I trust.
Random GTKY Question? Since its the first , give a small (or big whichever you prefer) intro about you and SO? I always told myself that if I was single at 27 then I would try Match.com. Well, at 27 I tried it out and went on a date with a guy that went ok, but not great. My second date I met my SO! We live in CO and are both very outdoorsy and enjoy hiking and camping with our 2 dogs (he had them before we met, but I love them like I have known them forever!). We started TTC in October. He proposed to me on November 1st on a long, beautiful hike and I was so surprised! I found out I was pregnant while we were on a trip to Telluride, CO looking at wedding venues. We will be getting married with baby #1 as part of the wedding in September 2017. We are BEYOND thrilled!

Any Movement? yes! Been feeling her since week 17, now I can feel her every day. I love it! Being PGAL has made me appreciate everything so much more, even those jabs to the bladder, I love every second of it. I can't wait until DH can feel her too.
Team Blue/Pink/Green/Purple PINK!
Worst advise that has been given to you to date? My mom told me I needed to gain 8-10lbs a month! Yeah, no. Along with no crossing my legs, no eating celery, no going in the pool/ocean, and all sorts of old fashioned advice.
Best advise that has been given to you to date? You'll know what is best for your child and you'll know if something is wrong.
Current fears/anxieties? The sense of loss I had with my miscarriage was so strong thay I'm constantly worrying about the next thing that could go wrong. I used to worry there wouldn't be a heartbeat, now I'm worried of preterm labor. Childbirth is probably the most terrifying thing, I'm scared something will go wrong with me or baby.
Random GTKY Question? TW: previous loss mentioned. DH and I met when I was 20 (hes 10+ years older) and started dating some time later. As soon as I started talking to him I knew he was the one. We get along incredibly well and he is everything I've ever wanted in a husband. We talked about marriage right away because we just clicked. We got married two years later and we'll be married four years when baby comes. We put off TTC for a couple of years because we wanted to enjoy our time together before kids. We started TTC in late August and got pregnant on our second cycle with our loss. We both took it really hard and decided to wait to try again but were NTNP and got the BFP on Christmas morning. So now here comes baby! It was hard for both of us to get excited at first but our loss brought us even closer than we were before.
Love this thread!!!!
How many weeks? 20 weeks in 3 days!! Eek!
Any Movement? Nothing but growing pains
Team Blue/Pink/Green/Purple: TEAM BLUE and so excited about it!!
Worst advice that has been given to you to date? Someone saying that all classes pre-baby were a waste of time. Okay, I'm sorry super mom but I want to be informed for myself and for my child. Fuck off.
Best advice that has been given to you to date? I received great baby gear advice from a friend who I am very grateful for. I trust her.
Current fears/anxieties? I would love to feel this little guy move!!!
Random GTKY Question? Since its the first , give a small (or big whichever you prefer) intro about you and SO?
Well, I've been married for two years and am a marriage and family therapist. I work with kids at different schools. I have a dog who I am obsessed with and watch on the Nest cam while I'm at work. shhhh don't tell my boss. She's the best. I live in Northern CA, am originally from LA and absolutely LOVE that I'm having a baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Any Movement? Last night I thought maybe I felt baby...it started out as a tugging sensation then a very light flutter and then it tickled a little inside. I dunno...it was right before bed and I haven't felt it since so maybe I imagined it in my tired state? Lol. I can't wait until I know for sure!!
Team Blue/Pink/Green/Purple? I started out as Team Green and DH wanted to know badly. Now he has agreed to be Team Green and I am wavering on it! Our anatomy scan is on 4/25 and I am 80/20 on finding out the sex now. I have grown weak!
Worst advice that has been given to you to date? I know I haven been given some but like @Thscary, I tend to zone out so I don't get annoyed at people's good intentions in trying to help. So I really can't think of any examples to share right now.
Best advice that has been given to you to date? Although I have been terrible at following it, I really like the advice to try not to rush any of the stages of pregnancy/motherhood. For example, when the baby is keeping us up all night, try not to wish for the phase/age to pass to when he/she has grown out of it and can sleep better. I was told it all goes by SO fast so try to remember that and hold on to every stage our baby is in. Apparently we will look back and wonder where the time went. I am trying to apply that to the pregnancy too as I keep wishing for the next few weeks/milestones to happen. I know the baby will be here before I know it or the kicks will start bothering me so not feeling them should be enjoyed for the short time left to enjoy it! LOL. *Note: I am really tired so I apologize if this is worded terribly.
Current fears/anxieties? @LakeR2014 I agree with all of your anxieties! Especially during the 1st trimester, holy moly! Adding to it would be that my dog will feel left out/ignored after I give birth and also weight gain. I am trying to make sure baby gets everything he or she needs but I have definitely relaxed on my former diet and eat whatever I want now. That has def added to the weight gain.
GTKY: My name is Megan and I am 33 years old. I live in Michigan and met my DH (Chris ) a little over 3 years ago. Chris is 39 and turning 40 right before the baby is due (any ideas on how I can make his 40th special given how pregnant I will be is appreciated! ). So Chris and I met at a party through mutual friends and things moved pretty quickly. We moved in a little over a year later, got engaged about 5 months afterwards, and were married about 3 months after that! We ran off to Vegas with a few close family and friends. We just celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary in March and it is neat to say we got engaged, married and pregnant in the same year. I am in Client Relations (sales/account management) and Chris is a computer programmer. We have a 12 year old Siberian Husky named Mia. We recently lost our 11 year old German Shepherd mix in November (Jerry Lee) and I am still grieving. I have had my dogs since they were puppies so witnessing them age and then losing one has been really tough. I want to do everything I can to keep my husky, Mia, active and feeling loved since despite her age, she still acts like a total puppy most of the time! Love her.

How many weeks?
17 weeks tomorrow! (Time is going quickly!)
Any Movement?
Yes, off and on for a few weeks now. Just little flutters though today I felt two distinct jabs.
Team Blue/Pink/Green/Purple
We haven't found out yet - should find out on the 26th! I can't wait to finally know even though I'm happy with either.
Worst advise that has been given to you to date?
I haven't received much advice yet, but I'm sure it's coming haha!
Best advise that has been given to you to date?
Some of my friends swear by having a change table on each floor so you don't have to go upstairs for each changing. Also, people suggesting to take time to sleep while baby sleeps instead of feeling like you have to do chores all the time.
Current fears/anxieties?
In between ultrasounds I get nervous hoping everything is ok with baby. Also, I've been having bad and scary dreams so that's been getting to me. I have to travel across the country next week for work and that makes me a little nervous even if it is safe. That aside, my work doesn't have a set maternity policy so it's impossible to plan for my leave as I won't know how long I get until when I'm off! Kind of frustrating.
Random GTKY Question? Since its the first , give a small (or big whichever you prefer) intro about you and SO?
I met my husband in late 2008 at work. Love at first sight I guess you could say! I moved to the USA about 4 years ago and I've been married for just about three years now. We are both beyond excited to start this next chapter! Unfortunately, our families don't live close so we don't have a big support system nearby, but I think we will manage just fine.
Alright!!!!
How many weeks? 16 weeks and 3 days (time is flying!)
Any Movement? Last night was the first time I was 90% sure what I felt was the baby and not some other random body twitch/rumble. Now I'm just excited to see if the baby does the same thing again!
Team Blue/Pink/Green/Purple Not sure yet- we find out the day after mother's day!
Worst advise that has been given to you to date? That so-and-so drank/drinks while pregnant and they're fine. Ummmmm yea as lovely as a glass of wine sounds, I'm not going to take some rando's advice over my midwife's on that matter.
Best advise that has been given to you to date? Buy used! We already have a stockpile of hand-me-downs that are in wonderful condition and I've been finding great items on facebook mom swap groups for a fraction of the cost of new. Its a total relief that by saving money on all the little things we can feel even better about splurging on the things that really matter. Plus maybe take a nice babymoon!
Current fears/anxieties? That somehow my body isn't doing something right. I have an autoimmune thyroid condition and although all my levels are normal now, its so hard not to worry. Every time I go to the dr and hear the heartbeat it gives me a huge boost.
Random GTKY Question? Since its the first , give a small (or big whichever you prefer) intro about you and SO? I'm Lilly (25) and my SO is Travis (36). We met 2 years ago on a shuttle leaving a funky little music and art festival and the rest is history. I am a massage therapist but haven't been practicing due to chronic pain issues from my autoimmune condition. He owns a sign business which he loves here in beautiful Humboldt County, CA. We have two big dog babies and a cat who was rescued to be an outside hunter, but now totally rules the house. (and is currently sleeping in the box of hand-me-down cloth diapers that he claimed as his own). This little one was not in our plans, but we are so thrilled to be on this path. We're both adjusting to the rollercoaster of emotions that I've been on lol but our friends gave Travis great advice to just be the anchor and not try to calm the storm, but just be there and support. He's decided his best way of showing support is by bringing me cookies in bed (it may just be so he doesn't feel like a pig eating them by himself at 11pm...) but I can't complain.
How many weeks? 17w5d
Any Movement? I am pretty sure I felt a couple of jabs yesterday after eating a couple of chocolates mid afternoon at my desk. Also, in bed at night, I am beginning to feel "something", it's hard to describe so I think it is just a matter of time now before it is more obvious.
Team Blue/Pink/Green/Purple Team BLUE!!
Worst advise that has been given to you to date? Push through the fatigue. Um no, that is the worst advise and subsequently gave me the WORST headaches. Give me my sleep!
Best advise that has been given to you to date? Probably the best advise so far has been to ignore the advise being given. As my friend put it the other day, everyone will want to tell you their experience, what worked for them, what you should or shouldn't do about pregnancy, birth, your body, your baby, your nursery, your sleep patterns, etc. You do what works for you do and what you want and ignore the rest and if in doubt, ask your physician.
Current fears/anxieties? How am I going to get everything done that I want before this baby comes. Is it realistic for me to continue working full time, juggle summer school, grow a baby, plan and buy the nursery/baby items without burning myself out.
Random GTKY Question? Since its the first , give a small (or big whichever you prefer) intro about you and SO? I met my now fiance at work in 2008 and we started dating in 2009. In fact, he used to report to me when he first started at the company which we laugh about now! When we started dating, I knew that this relationship was not like any of my other ones - I was happier with him (and with myself) than I'd ever been. We never rushed our relationship, took our time to get to know each other, traveled when we could and he proposed on our 6 year anniversary. We started planning our wedding for September 2016, took a fun vacation to Asia over the Christmas holidays and discovered I was pregnant about a week after we returned to Canada and you know the rest Needless to say, we are thrilled (surprised at first), have decided to postpone the wedding and are now planning to be parents. I am 35 and he is 34, we'd talked about starting a family after we got married but apparently life decided to advance that for us!
Here is Mia:
After we voted lol.
