Question for dog owners- my dog has peed/pooped on our carpet in the basement- not a lot but occasionally when it's raining/snowing.  Of course we clean it up ASAP but I'm wondering how this would effect a child crawling on the carpet?  My idea was to replace the carpet completely and get a dog gate so the dog won't have access to the carpeted area.  My husband thinks that's not necessary- we could simply steam clean the carpet to disinfect and put the dog gate up so the dog won't pee/poop there again.  Anyone want to weigh in on this?
I have 3 dogs and can't imagine living without my Bissell carpet shampooer.

  • Thanks ladies.  I think I'm thinking about it too hard.  I tend to be a worrier. My husband did read that steam cleaning does disinfect 99.9% of germs so that should be good enough.
  • @breanneestafford1 That's awesome news! You must be so relieved!
  • I thought this baby was supposed to sleep at some point? I've been kicked non-stop for the past couple of days. It's not just little movements either. My husband swore he felt an elbow sliding across my stomach. That mess is uncomfortable.
Sending good vibes. DD was like that. I told the doctor I was not going to do kick counts because there was no point. She turned out to be the angriest baby I have yet to meet. Hopefully there's not a correlation for you, but I will say I'm kind of happy his baby doesn't seem as frantic. Maybe yours will just be a gymnast or soccer player or something.

  • @theshannondee did you see my suggestion for a harness/car seat? If not I'll repost.
  • @whataboutscience That's my husband's fear, too. Ha! I guess only time will tell. My first baby was cool and calm in the womb and he's a calm kid.

Oh god, what do you mean by "angry"?? My LO acts like a cat trapped in a bag day and night.
Well now I'm getting nervous... My little baby is so active at all times, and looks like he/she is trying to bust out of my abdomen throughout the day.

...I'd like to insert a gif here but I keep inadvertantly clicking on ads and it's irritating, so I'll just back away from my plain Jane post now..

  • @LadyFleck @RachelT1234 I've heard the opposite is true as well. We won't find out until July, I suppose.

  • @benten24 I did but I wasn't able to save it! If you could PM me the link or repost I would really appreciate it. :)
  • Last night every time I rolled over I could feel Preston shift with me and it would cause sharp pains and crampiness, it wasn't a fun night.
  • My DD was crazy active in the womb, sorry ladies, she is still everywhere all the time. I have never met such a busy body!
From the day she was born I swear she couldn't wait to walk.
I'm so glad this little guy is so much more laid back (so far!)

Sounds like my son.  He never stopped in the womb, to the point that we couldn't tell his gender for the first couple ultrasounds because he wouldn't ever sit still.  He has not changed one bit.  Ever since he came out he was trying to stand and walk and do SOMETHING.

My daughter was more mellow in the womb, was late for her due date and was an instant cuddler.  It's amazing how their personalities are formed so early on.
  • "Angry" means for the first 3 months she had an ear piercing scream unless she was passed out from exhaustion (usually in 15 minute increments) or on my boob. After that she was calmer sometimes... She never had a cute newborn cry either. No quiet, alert period after she was born. I couldn't hear the OB telling me what she was doing after delivery. The second night in the hospital DD was literally awake and screaming (or nursing) for 9 hours straight. By the time we got home from the hospital, we were pretty sure we'd made a horrible mistake. The first few months were very stressful. Thankfully now, she's actually a great kid and happy most of the time (for a toddler).

  • DS was pretty active in the belly, a very calm/laid-back baby, and an absolutely CRAZY toddler. I'm not sure if this little guy is less active because he's constantly breech, so I just feel him differently than DS. BUT, I'm just imagining that since I lucked out with an easy first baby, I'm in for a world of trouble the second time around... I've been embracing the pregnancy insomnia the past week or so, because I fear I will never know sleep again.
  • @jwittwer @breanneestafford1 DH just got bumped up from 12 paid weeks to 16. His company does it for all moms and dads. Seems crazy since no one else around gets that, but we're excited because we'll also have a not quite 2 year old when baby arrives.
