  • Weeks: 8w5d

Next milestone/appointment? 5/5 for 12w u/s and check-up w/ OB later that same day. That will be exactly 4 weeks before my loss milestone (16w).

Rant/Rave/Anything else: No raves, and my only rant is that I'm ready for the nausea to subside. It's getting old.

    Questions? Nope

GTKY: What is your favorite TV show (current and/or no longer airing)? Hmmm, tough one! Current I'd say The Good Wife and no longer airing would have to be Breaking Bad or Lost... Very random choices, lol.

  • Weeks:  8+1

Next milestone/appointment? Appointment to check on HB next Monday at 9+1. My loss milestone is 8+3 and I'm desparately searching for constant reassurance I'm still pregnant.

Rant/Rave/Anything else: I have had back pain since week 4, but this weekend it was pretty painful when I sat down. Long car rides are bad too. My low back pain started after the baby's heart stopped beating last time, so of course I'm freaking out. Besides for occasional light cramping and extreme fatigue once in awhile, the only other pregnancy symptom I have is an aversion to some foods. I was on a spa weekend this weekend and nothing I ordered looked at all appealing. Snacking has been going well for me though.

Questions? Anyone else have back pain when they sit too long, particularly at the tailbone?

GTKY: What is your favorite TV show (current and/or no longer airing)? The West Wing!
  • @chloe97 - I'm hoping that this week goes quickly so you can get some reassurance next Monday.

My my back has been achy on and off, too. I've noticed it's more after I've driven for 45min+, but if I stretch a little afterwards or lay down it seems to ease up.

And I don't know why I didn't write the West Wing... Favorite show ever, hands down! #bartletforamerica

    Weeks: 8w2d

Next milestone/appointment? We have a growth/check up scan scheduled for this Friday, but I don't know if it's necessary. We have our first official prenatal appointment scheduled for April 22. I'm thinking maybe I can make it until then.

Rant/Rave/Anything else: I quit my job last week. I updated my AW thread with details, if anyone is interested in them.

In other news, we got a scan on Friday and baby was measuring exactly one week bigger (at 8w1d) from the Friday before with a good little heartbeat, so I'm starting to feel a little bit less scared.

Questions?  They don't actually measure the HB at my appointments. I don't understand.

GTKY: What is your favorite TV show (current and/or no longer airing)? We're catching up on Orphan Black right now and it's SO GOOD. We just started season 3. Love it so much. Favorite no longer airing might be Dexter or True Blood. Except True Blood got so weird in the end.

ETA I don't know how Doctor Who slipped my mind. Definitely in the top 3 TV shows on my list, too!

    Weeks: 10+3

Next milestone/appointment? - Finally seeing the OB on Thursday...this wait has been interminable! Excited for a pro to take a run at finding both heartbeats :)

ETA: I found both heartbeats myself today! So happy!

Rant/Rave/Anything else: Symptoms seem like they're slowing starting to improve, super fatigued by about 8pm but nausea is basically gone and the dysgeusia is improving. I get so bloated I look about 20w pregnant by the end of the day still, and sooo gassy!

    Questions? Not at the moment!

GTKY: What is your favorite TV show (current and/or no longer airing)? - Oh this is such a hard question! It really depends on the mood I'm in! I love The X-Files (not the new episodes though), M*A*S*H and Doctor Who!

Next milestone/appointment? May 4 for next OB appt/ultrasound

Rant/Rave/Anything else: I went to my OB appt last week thinking I was 7w5d so now that I've gone backwards time seems to be going super slowly. Can't wait for next Tuesday when I can actually feel more pregnant (at least in my head). Also, I have had cramping and horrible constipation and can't tell if it's from celiac disease (I've only been cooking/eating at home) or pregnancy and it's freaking me out thinking that LO isn't getting the proper nutrients.

    Questions? No

GTKY: What is your favorite TV show (current and/or no longer airing)? This new show called The Catch just started airing... I'm hooked already!
  • @chloe97 - My back aches if I've been sitting too long or sleeping in the same position too long, and I have cramping all the time.  I'm sorry you have to wait til next Monday to see how things are going.

    Weeks:
     8w1d

Next milestone/appointment?  My next appointment isn't for 2.5 weeks. This past week I was so psyched because of the great ultrasound, but now I'm back to waiting to hear that things are okay.

Rant/Rave/Anything else:  I need to stop reading the home dopplar thread.  All of the moms hearing the heartbeat so early with it are making me want to drag it out.  But I know it's early and if I couldn't find it my panic would increase so much.

We also told some close family and friends this weekend.  Mostly because I had a girls' night out and not drinking would have been a clear tipoff.  I was feeling okay about the idea (we always share early anyway), but now it's making me nervous.  I think nervous is going to be my theme for the next 2.5 weeks.

    Questions? Nope

GTKY: What is your favorite TV show (current and/or no longer airing)? Add me to the group - I love The West Wing!

  • Weeks: 9

Next milestone/appointment? Next appointment is 5/5 when I'll be 12w3d. I'm feeling very encouraged after last week's appointment and I'll be traveling for work all of next so I have a feeling that appointment will be here before I know it.

Rant/Rave/Anything else: Raves only this week. I had a great appointment last Thursday and things are finally starting to feel positive and real. I also accomplished my stretch goal of running 6 miles on Saturday. It was a run/walk, but being able to make it 6 miles and still feel like I could keep going is big progress for me. I'm supposed to be running a half marathon on 4/30 and was considering dropping out because I haven't trained nearly enough. I told myself if I could make it 6 miles some time in the next 2 weeks then I could make it across the finish line of a half marathon. So it looks like I'm running the half!

    Questions? Not really

GTKY: What is your favorite TV show (current and/or no longer airing)? One Tree Hill and Gilmore Girls are probably my two favorites.
  • Weeks: 10. This one always feels like a big milestone. Into the double digits!

Next milestone/appointment?  Next appointment will probably be my NT scan in 3-ish weeks. It's usually done in the early 13th week here.

Rant/Rave/Anything else: I have to decide on my clerkship (clinical rotations) stream right now and apparently there won't be any accommodation for the fact that I'm starting clerkship with a newborn, while pumping. I could end up doing surgery for 6 weeks (14+ hour days, not being allowed time to pee or eat let alone pump every 2-4h) before the baby is even 2 months old. I could end up being hours away from here, staying in hotels for over a month, because absolutely no accommodation will be made for me. The kids who don't have families, who have no obligations, who won't have new babies, may get close-to-home rotations while I have to leave my newborn for a month and a half at a time. I may go to the assistant dean about this. I NEVER ask for special treatment as a student with a family, but I think 'recovering from major surgery' and 'need to pump milk every few hours' should qualify me for a bit of consideration here.

    Questions? Nah, I'm good.

GTKY: What is your favorite TV show (current and/or no longer airing)? ER. I started watching it when I was 8 (I already wanted to be a doctor) and watched it until the end.

    Weeks:
     8

Next milestone/appointment? I go back on 4/22 for a second US and my Panorama testing.

Rant/Rave/Anything else: DH got a big raise and said I could quit my job if I wanted to! We will wait for a few weeks until his raise kicks in and then Ill give notice. So excited to be a SAHM!

    Questions? nope

GTKY: What is your favorite TV show (current and/or no longer airing)? Supernatural, those boys are just so darn cute ;)
  • Weeks: 10+6

    Next milestone/appointment? 4/19 is my NT u/s.

Rant/Rave/Anything else: Symptoms have started to ease up a bit, but holy exhaustion. I was so tired this weekend. I don't think I've ever napped so much in my life.

    Questions? None this week

GTKY: What is your favorite TV show (current and/or no longer airing)? Grey's is still my favorite. I've watched it from the very first episode. I loved Mad Men when it was on the air.

@chloe97- I've had some back pain on and off.
@Ash111916- I've had constipation since I got my BFP, so not fun.
@KilgraveMadeMeDoIt- I would definitely be talking to the Assistant Dean. You would think that they could make some accommodations like keeping you close to home.

  • @KilgraveMadeMeDoIt You know what is the worst part about your situation? The medical community (pediatricians and Ob-gyns in particular ) will be the first to say that it's imperative that postpartum women be given time off to heal and bond with their newborn and advocate for paid family leave for everyone but their own freaking trainees!! It's maddening how they treat their own.

@rspalding001 and @MissAmeliaPondI'm so jealous that you get to quit your jobs!! Our very good insurance comes from my job and H is new to his career and on a commission-based salary, so there is no chance I will be able to quit for a long time. I do get 4 months paid maternity leave, so it could be worse.

Yay for a great appointment week last week, let's try to keep up the streak this week!!
  • Weeks: 7+5

Next milestone/appointment? Tomorrow afternoon for an ultrasound to confirm heartbeat and growth!

Rant/Rave/Anything else: My symptoms were going away over the weekend but now came back with a vengeance. I am so thankful for them because they give me some sort of reassurance.

Also if all looks good at the ultrasound we plan on telling our friend (H & W) that had a loss a little over a month ago. We have been waiting to tell people because we wanted them to know first after our families. I'm so nervous to tell her. We have hung out a few times recently and she seems to be doing really well, at least a lot better than I was a month after my loss. However it could be a facade. I know she will be happy for us, but I don't want to make her sad.

    Questions? Not today.

GTKY: What is your favorite TV show (current and/or no longer airing)? One Tree Hill and Dexter. I like a lot of current shows but I wouldn't say any are my favorite.

I could take 6 weeks off, but then I have to make up the missed time during my vacation during clerkship. I only have 6 weeks of vacation during clerkship, so I would actually have to go for 16 months of intensive medical training (60-80 hour weeks are not abnormal!) with absolutely no time off if I took that option. That includes no time off to travel for residency interviews. Or I could take an entire year off, graduate a year late, essentially lose a year of physician income, have my student loans and MedLOC kicked into repayment.

So I do have options for leave, they just both suck.

Medicine, despite progress, is still really sexist in some ways. I've been amazed by how much of it I've seen since I started med school. I knew it still happened, but I'm surprised by the degree to which it happens.

  • @chloe97 I haven't had any back pain, however before pregnancy I would always have back and neck pain. I started going to a chiropractor and its amazing. It has helped so much! I would recommend looking into it if you don't go to one already.

@missameliapond Glad you were able to figure out everything with your job. I'm sure a load of stress is. Also yay for Dexter fans! I hated the way it ended though.

@comealongponds FX for a good appointment on Thursday!

@jrussell16 OTH all the way! Also good for you on running a half marathon!

@kilgravemademedoit That sucks about your clerkship, hopefully they can make some exceptions.

@rspalding001 I never thought I would want to be a SAHM, but lately I've been thinking I wouldn't mind it. However I don't think it would work out for us. Happy for you!

Next milestone/appointment? NT scan on the 20th.

Rant/Rave/Anything else:  Insurance companies.  Does anyone like them?  I will never understand our health care system here in the US.  My insurance won't cover my Diclegis.  I called my doctor's nurse and she was so irate.  Apparently this is very common and even when covered is very expensive.  Per the insurance companies policy my office has to discuss changing my eating habits with me and have me do the unisom and B6 combo for 10 days and if that doesn't work then they will cover it.  Thanks for making medical decisions for me faceless insurance company.  It's probably not helping my feeling towards them that I got a letter the next day  from Labcorps letting me know my insurance denied a $3500 claim.  As I'm reading the letter I'm trying to figure out what lab work they are talking about I see the date.  They are denying a claim for genetic testing we had on our stillborn son over 6 months ago.  I hate you so much insurance company.

sorry for the super long rant.  Sometime you don't know how pissy something is making you until you start venting.

    Questions? None this week.

GTKY: What is your favorite TV show (current and/or no longer airing)? Such a hard question.  I loved 'Pushing Dasies'. It didn't last long but I miss that show.
  • @EmmieAnn22   I'm so sorry about the crappy insurance, what a slap in the face. I'd be pissed to.
  • @rspalding001 - that is awesome news!!  I am hopeful that someday my H will get a large enough raise that I can be a SAHM, but I'm guessing not for 2 more years.

  • @KilgraveMadeMeDoIt Sorry you have such a difficult decision to make.  I had no idea the medical community was so unaccomodating.  Good luck on your decision!

@EmmieAnn22  I too am not a fan of big insurance companies.  I had no idea how good my insurance was until I became a SAHM and am now on my husband's insurance.  We have the best plan his employer offers and still have huge deductables that need to be met before insurance will kick in any money.  It's infuriating!

Weeks: Technically slid back to 6W today, but since DS was early, still going to stick with 7 W 2 D

Next milestone/appointment? First prenatal visit on 4/27

Rant/Rave/Anything else: Got to see a little flickery heartbeat today!  Knew I ovulated late, but dating was still slightly behind where I thought it would have been, but excited everything looked good with a nice strong heartbeat.

    Questions?

GTKY: What is your favorite TV show (current and/or no longer airing)? I am a Scandal fan, though haven't been enjoying it as much recently.  Have also gotten into Quantico.  As for older series, I've been watching Parenthood on Netflix.

  • @MissAmeliaPond Have they just not done it yet or do they never measure HB at your appointments? My office doesn't start till after 12 weeks so that will by my 3rd appointment with them.
  • Very jealous but super happy for you ladies being able to be SAHMs! Im hoping H and I will be able to make it work eventually!

    Weeks: 10

    Next milestone/appointment? Thursday!

Rant/Rave/Anything else:  Both excited and fearing this appt on Thursday. Fx for a strong heartbeat and a wiggly little guppy!

    Questions? Nope!

GTKY: What is your favorite TV show (current and/or no longer airing)?  Once Upon A Time would have to win here.

  • Rant/Rave/Anything else: I have to decide on my clerkship (clinical rotations) stream right now and apparently there won't be any accommodation for the fact that I'm starting clerkship with a newborn, while pumping. That stinks! I hope the dean is able to make some accommodations for you.
  • Weeks: 8+1

Next milestone/appointment? US tomorrow (yikes!!!! so nervous because I had a rough weekend with more bleeding! FX...)

Rant/Rave/Anything else: I don't know if this is a rant or a rave. DH said today that when we're sleeping and he has his arm around me that all of a sudden I feel pregnant.  I asked him if that meant *fat* and he said "no, bigger but solid".   Nice save...

Questions? Anyone else out there catching themselves doing obsessive compulsive things to convince themselves they're still pregnant?  I keep finding myself "feeling up" my boobs to make sure they still hurt and feel heavy.  Oh, and I keep looking for hair falling out to make sure preggo hormones are still working.  Anyone else??

GTKY: What is your favorite TV show (current and/or no longer airing)? Right now, probably Orphan Black.  Of all time, I have to admit Beavis and Butthead in the dark ages when MTV actually showed music videos.  Yeah, I'm old and I have the sense of humor of a teenage boy.  Whatever!

Next milestone/appointment? Ultrasound with the RE tomorrow then prenatal appointment with the OB Wednesday. One more loss milestones to pass at 11+6 so I'm anxiously awaiting 2nd tri.

Rant/Rave/Anything else: I want the nausea and fatigue to fade like all the apps keep saying. I'm so tired and I feel like I'm gonna hurl all the freaking time!

    Questions? Nope

GTKY: What is your favorite TV show (current and/or no longer airing)?

I used to watch JAG with my parents when I was in school then we watched NCIS when it started. I really don't watch much TV anymore. Way too busy for TV.
  • Weeks: approx 7w1d, maybe a few days farther along

Next milestone/appointment?  next Tuesday for followup appt and ultrasound

Rant/Rave/Anything else: Raving that symptoms like fatigue and nipple growth have set in over the past week since the OB told be she wasn't sure if this one's HB was increasing or decreasing and wanted to wait to do any initial bloodwork for 2 weeks. The new symptoms make me think something has to be growing in there.

    Questions? None

GTKY: What is your favorite TV show (current and/or no longer airing)? I like a lot of shows, but I don't tend to identify favorites. The best one I'm watching right now might be Daredevil, although I'm also watching Bosch and The Following. I'm excited about Game of Thrones returning and sad Walking Dead is done for the season.

  • Weeks: 10!

Next milestone/appointment? Next US on Thursday and I'm irrationally terrified that they'll say the baby stopped growing, even though I have no reason to think that. On a positive note, H agreed that if we have a good US on Thursday, we could tell family this weekend!

Rant/Rave/Anything else: I could use a full day in bed, but I'm going to be busy all week at work and then doing more work over the weekend. I just wanna sleep.

Questions? How can I stop being so paranoid? (I don't expect anyone to really have an answer to that).

GTKY: What is your favorite TV show (current and/or no longer airing)? Gotta say The Office, but West Wing and Breaking Bad are runner ups. I love that there are so many West Wing fans on here!

H and I walked into our wedding reception to The Office intro song.

  • @kns1988 If someone figures out a cure for post-loss pregnancy paranoia, let me know! I find that the days that I have more symptoms, which are far and few between, I feel great. Then I have a night like tonight where I'm not ready for bed at 9:15 and I start freaking out again. One day at a time is all we can do.

Good of luck at you ultrasound!!
  • Weeks:  6+6

Next milestone/appointment?  Friday for another US and labs

Rant/Rave/Anything else:  I have never cooked anything more than 6 weeks.  I am extremely anxious given the confusing start this nugget had.  My appointment can't get here fast enough.  I'm not sure how much relief I will feel if I get beyond my loss milestones.  I suspect I will still be super terrified.

Questions?   Nothing right now.  Just trying to stay cautiously optimisitc.

GTKY: What is your favorite TV show (current and/or no longer airing)?  Current - I think I probably have to say American Horror Story.  Even the "bad" seasons have been pretty good.  Favorite no longer airing - Quincy M.E.  It was probably the original forensic TV show.  I used to watch it all the time when I was a kid.

Rant/Rave/Anything else: Most of my symptoms are gone, only a bit of nausea here and there and some fatigue. I didn't have a lot to start with so it worries me and makes me even more anxious for my appt. I just want to see a healthy fetus with a heartbeat, measuring the right size.

    Questions? Not really

GTKY: What is your favorite TV show (current and/or no longer airing)? DH and I are really into Parts Unknown with Anthony Bourdain right now - we're on a nonfiction kick. I can also always binge watch NCIS.

Next milestone/appointment? My 1st appt was supposed to be this Friday, however they got me in yesterday due to spotting. Everything went great, my loss milestone is 8+5, my doc suggested I come in at 9w to ease the anxious feeling, and then every 2 weeks until we clear the 1st trimester. I lover her!

Rant/Rave/Anything else: I wish my symptoms would stay consistent. Everytime I start to feel "normal" my heart sinks thinking the worst.

    Questions?

GTKY: What is your favorite TV show (current and/or no longer airing)? My favorite guilty pleasure was Gossip Girl

@sunbeam1 - I'm constantly poking at the girls to make sure they are still sore!

Next milestone/appointment? Nada!! I was released from my RE today!!!! Need to call OB and see when they want me to come in.

Rant/Rave/Anything else: Well I had another scare today but everything is fine. I had a routine ultrasound scheduled for today with my RE, and I started spotting this morning. So I tried not to worry since I was going to have answers in a few hours. The baby looked great on the U/S (155HB this time) and was actually measuring 2 days ahead. But I have a slight detachment of the placenta which caused the spotting.

Questions? Has anyone experienced placenta detachment in the 1st trimester? Everything on google talks about it happening in the 3rd.

GTKY: What is your favorite TV show (current and/or no longer airing)? Friends and Gilmore Girls.

    Next milestone/appointment?
My first OB appt. is tomorrow and I'm pretty anxious. Just picked a Dr. that I don't know anything about. Hoping for the best.
    Rant/Rave/Anything else:
I feel like crap in the evenings. After 4pm I start cramping. I'll be happy when that stops.

    Questions?

GTKY: What is your favorite TV show (current and/or no longer airing)? I love documentaries.
  • Hi ladies. I'm so happy to read these stories as I've just experienced a loss myself.  They are very encouraging and I love seeing a place where you can find support! Just curious how long after your loss did you get pregnancy with your rainbow baby?!
  • @Courtneykline I had a loss, and 6 months later, I was pregnant with my daughter and rainbow baby. I had another loss in February, and I immediately got pregnant with my LO. I am 8w6d, and so hopeful for two rainbows!
  • @Courtneykline I got pregnant with these rainbows 3 cycles (2.5 months).

  • I'm having a really hard time today.  I basically got no sleep last night because at some point in an insomnia moment I realized that my boobs hurt way less than they have been feeling.   Logically I know that symptoms can change and it doesn't mean for sure that I'm having another loss, but with my two I never really had symptoms that escalated at all.  This time, other than bloat, gas and slight fatigue the boobs was the strongest symptom so now I just have a bad feeling.  My appointment is Friday and it's going to be a very stressful next couple of days I'm afraid.
