Hello everyone. We plan to tell our moms (and other immediate family) on mother's day, and everyone else about a month after that. Still working on the announcement ideas/photo.
December 2016 August Siggy Challenge: Embarrassing Back to School Pics
I think we are going to do something sports related with our other two kiddos. SD is 11 and DS is 19 months and we LOVE college sports so we may do a "big brother in training" sports photo shoot. We will see. Ha! It sounds awfully ambitious for how tired I'm feeling lately. We also may do the "we are going to outnumber our parents" sign.... We have told close family and friends but won't FB announce until 14 weeks.
I'm telling my husband today!! It's our 4th year wedding anniversary, and he's taking me on a picnic and we will exchange gifts there. So I prepare a box with layers: First section has a note that says "The only thing better than having you as my husband..." Second layer with all of the positive pregnancy tests says "...is our baby having you as their dad! We're pregnant!" Third layer is a note from the baby saying "Hi Dad! I can't wait to meet you! December 2016" alongside little booties and a pacifier that says I Love Daddy. Underneath it all is a pregnancy guide for dad for dummies book lol.
with our BFP in Jan I gave hubs a present with my positive test and baby size scrubs (we are both in the medical field) and two dad books. We did a big thing to tell my parents early since it was their first grandchild and I still have the video from that. This time I just handed him two tests. He wants to wait longer to tell people. Our loss was at 9 weeks but I'm telling my family before then. They have been super supportive since and I figure why hide it, the worst has already happened once. I will probably tell them when I am in town over Mother's Day. We should have atleast one ultrasound in by then

I told my parents the day after we found out and then we called his mom that night. They know we were TTC and were just waiting for the call. I have told some of my friends and my 4 year old told everyone at school, oops. We bought the kids shirts that say "Best Big Brother Ever" and "Best Middle Child Ever" that they'll wear to the next big family function, most likely Mother's Day. I am not planning on doing anything on Facebook.
We plan on announcing it to our immediate families after our first ultrasound. I ordered a shirt for our dog from etsy that says "soon to be big brother". We're just going to show up to our parents' houses with our dog and wait for everyone to notice his shirt!
We'll announce it to everyone else after our first trimester.
We already told my parents and a few close friends. But when the first trimester is over I'll probably post a picture on Facebook and give some to family of my daughter holding some type of sign saying she's going to be a big sister.
Last baby we revealed to my parents by giving my mom a candle with the scent "grandma's house" for her birthday. Then we did the t-shirt on the dog for friends. This time I'm waiting til I show too much. I feel like it makes me hold it together through the first tri having to keep it a secret. Otherwise I'd be all whoa-is-me. Maybe we'll do t-shirt on the dog again but not the baby. People will be like... but you know DS will also be a sibling now... right?
Found this on Pinterest and I'm totally going to use this idea for our friends and extended family announcement. Not sure how I will surprise the more immediate family yet (esp MIL who lives with us, and will know if I start wearing maternity clothes). For DD1 we did "event tickets" and DD2 I made a grandparents day card with the u/s pic since it was right around that time.
DH was asleep when I took the test, I just had to wake him up to tell him the news, and while processing/still waking up he lifted his arm and hand up... "are you trying to high five me on this?" which he tried to cover up by patting me on the head. So far our parents and siblings know and select "exclusive VIP" friends (and yoga teachers). We decided everyone who we'd tell this early are the ones we want by our sides if something happens. No fancy cards or gifts, just coming right out. When it comes time to make a widespread Facebook announcement, DH will probably draw something up since he's a comic artist.
We told my sister and brother when we got our bfp. I am very close with both of them. We are telling my parents tomorrow. My sister just had her first baby last month, so I bought a onesie for her to wear that says, "I'm going to be a big cousin!" We are going to tell my mother-in-law in a few weeks. We're inviting her over for Sunday breakfast. We ordered a coffee mug for her that says, "Nana est. 2016" and we'll use it for her coffee! We're very excited!
We're telling the Hubbys parents tonight! We're pretty nervous about it since its our first and the first grandkid on his side! H He's nervous since his older brother and his wife have been trying to conceive for years:( any advice? I don't know how they will react? A little sad for the older bro and excited? Ahh
Totally lurking from D15...I just wanted to see what was going a year later. Our friends and family loves our announcement for baby #2. We took a picture in front of the city/population sign and had the photographer cross out the last number in the population and increase it by one. Just an idea if anyone is looking for am idea. Also, for all of those that have mentioned loss, good luck with your pregnancies. We had a loss between DS and DD and they are called rainbow babies for a reason!!!
@cjm1994 most ladies recommend a text/call/email before hand. Just in case it's a punch to the feels. That way they can react in private and prepare a more 'appropriate' reaction for the get together.

We are thinking about doing the same thing with our dogs - big brother and soon to be big sister. We are waiting till closer to the end of the first trimester to tell anyone though. My sister just went through a MC a couple weeks ago so we are trying to give that time to settle as well. We have family visiting at the end of May from out of state so we will probably start telling people then.
I always wanted to have a big reveal, but when it came down to it, I just had to blab. We called our parents and close friends all within the first two weeks. On national beer day I made a chalk board sign that said, Beer isn't the only thing brewing on national beer drinking day...Baby C...coming November 2016 (which is now December or so we think, we'll know tomorrow!) for distant relatives.

I am only 6w today, and found out March 31 when I got a nice BFP HPT!
We told my parents first, that Saturday (April 2). We had actually been with DH's family that morning for a nephew's birthday party, but wanted to tell my parents first. I had bought them a frame-type thing that said "Only the best parents get promoted to GRANDPARENTS", so we had them open that and got a great reaction; this is their first grandchild. We went out for supper after that to celebrate. Later on, we went over to my SIL's place, but still kept it mum.
We went for supper with my in-laws on the 5th, and DH wanted to talk about his new promotion he just got... and we'd let them in on our news too. It wasn't until the very end that DH showed him the pic of one of the HPTs I had taken that was positive. They were still thrilled; this will be their 5th grandchild. At the same time, DH sent the same photo to his sister and brother to let them know.
I saw my sister that following weekend (she lives out of town), and presented her with a coffee mug that said "Auntie [name] Est. 2016". She was very surprised!
I hope to be able to tell my grandparents soon, although feel it's too early. I could see them this weekend (they live 3 hours away), but may make a visit out there next month before my first appointment, just to get them the news. We'd probably wait until after they know to tell other family... especially some aunt and uncles of DH's that we're really close with.
I want to tell friends after the first appointment, which will be towards the end of my 12th week - just to make sure everything is good before I spread the news. I don't know the exact date of that, but sometime shortly after. That's still over a month away though. But, if I see any friends I will probably tell them - since most get togethers involve food and drinks. For public, like FB, I may just take a pic of a calendar with the date circled and some baby things... post it as a photo and see what happens. Simple, but yet cute.
