Awww, I am sorry to read this @pilotswifey. Are you taking Tylenol and making a dentist appt on Monday?
My random for this evening is that I finally went to Motherhood Maternity today! I have been avoiding it since I don't have a big bump yet and I heard it is expensive. But much to my surprise, they had a ton of beautiful stuff that all fit me! Unfortunately yes, the total bill was much higher than I wanted it to be. Lol. But I am so excited about the dresses I bought! There was one I tried on and came out of the dressing room and everyone waiting said "Ohhh! That dress is so pretty!" So naturally I bought it. I would love for it to be my baby shower dress but I dunno if I can wait until July!

@blondie080300 Well since he's being a weirdo and went to bed, he'll get the bird in the morning followed by a get your ass in gear and do something around the house for crying out loud!!! I know he was feeling better today, so there's no excuse. *sigh* Now I want to go to Motherhood Maternity lol!!! I've been dying to get some cute dresses to wear when it finally warms up here!
@SarahMConnors I think you've earned a trip to Motherhood Maternity. And that is nice of you to let DH chill tonight and hopefully come to his senses tomorrow. I totally get how hard that is though when you really want to let him know how you are feeling right now and make him try to understand where he is not holding up his end of the partnership. Keep venting here if you need to since I don't want you stewing all night like I was (unintentionally) and then having a crappy night's sleep because of it.

@pilotswifey ughhhh toothaches are the worst hope it's nothing too serious. Oh and thanks for teaching me about the FOMO acronym, had no idea that existed. @runningisrad I def feel your FOMO pain. Sorry you got left out, being preg def has it's downers
Ok so I'm still hung up on this chicken pox thing. So if you get the vaccine, the varicella virus is inside of you, making you immune to contracting it in the future. But because the virus is in you, shingles is still a possibility, no?
@blondie080300 Thanks We've definitely had our ups and downs, and we have been our best for a while now- it's been so great. I think it's normal for him to slack a little and screw up here and there, especially now with all the attention and excitement focused on me. I'm trying to cut him a little slack, but also keep him in check. I'm definitely having a conversation with him tomorrow about how I understand not feeling good, especially right now, but we need to pull weight equally. He gets home way before I do every day. I use my Mondays off when he's at work to do some of my own stuff and to clean the apartment, so he can definitely do more too. I'm definitely planning an outing to Motherhood Maternity soon There's a local tag sale/flea market tomorrow too- I'm going to see if they have any gently used baby stuff. I need some time out of the apartment to breathe fresh (clean) air before I get wrapped up in cleaning most of the day. Side note- I'm secretly loving that he brought our dog to bed with him in his little huff tonight, and the dog didn't want to stay in with him, came to the door and whined to come out with me Little fuzz is loyal till the end!
@RedMar Yep. Once you've had chicken pox, the virus lays dormant and can cause shingles. It generally happens when you're elderly because your immune system becomes suppressed, but can happen at any age after you've had a bout of chicken pox. It sucks.
@runningisrad I'm sorry your friends left you out I would be sad too. And had to google FOMO but I feel the same way, often!
My random: DS threw up 4 times tonight. We don't know the cause yet but hoping the worst is over! It's the first time he ever has, and I'm mad at myself for the one night I didn't have the waterproof mattress pad on Also tomorrow is DH's bday and we had a fun day planned... Thinking we shouldn't leave the house JIC.
@TNgoldengirl --puking here too. and I also didn't have a waterproof mattress cover on. And, to top it off, LO managed to roll his head in the puke before I got to him and then, of course, wanted cuddles and covered my sweater in puke. Ugh.
Hope it's over for both of us.
what did you do to clean up the mattress? I just wiped and dabbed at it with a wet cloth. Not sure what else to do. Hoping the smell goes away. Awful.
@Sporty1216 ahh it's the worst! Sorry you're in the same boat. I didn't really know what to do, luckily we've avoided stomach viruses (if that's what it is?)..no other symptoms besides saying his stomach hurt right before. We were at a party tonight and he ate several things but nothing he hadn't had before I don't think.
Anyway, he puked on his bed and then mine. I just soaked the little spot on mine with a towel after I changed the sheets. Might do more in the AM. Now he's on it, sleeping on towels! I put corn starch on his mattress to soak up the moisture, vacuumed and dried with towel, and blotted with vinegar soaked towel. Hopefully that'll be good enough!
@runningisrad oh no! FOMO is so real, especially when it's a group like that that you expect to be included. I agree it's nice to get an invite even if you decide not to go! For what it's worth, I think a lot of people don't invite pregnant ladies to things because they think we're sick/tired all the time and also because they feel awkward that we can't drink. Anyway, I hope you do something nice for yourself today!
@blondie080300 wow, he did a great job making up for that mess up!! I think you've got a keeper there, I wish most men knew how to apologize like that
@SarahMConnors but don't you realize the man-flu is like the plague? How could you ever expect him to do some dishes?
My random is that I bought a Bella Band yesterday and was so excited to wear my favorite jeans again!
Fast forward to this morning, I have been sitting in class for the last 90 minutes (taxes = boring) and I am not sure how I feel about it the band. It feels kinda odd still that my pants are undone. Maybe I need time to get used to it? Maybe it doesn't work the best with super low rise jeans?
Im glad I bought one but it's not love at first wear
Poor sick Littles, emmett has had a runny nose and cough for a week and a half, yellow in the morning then runs clear, all else ok. I'm tired of chasing him with tissues but nothing suggests it's more than a cold. He also just screamed all the way home from groceries... a 5 minutes ride that felt like hours. We got home and all he wanted was his blankie ugh. How did I forget one? Amateur move on my part, oh well he is happy and snuggly now. This kid hasn't cried for 5-10 minutes straight in months.
@PSUBecky23 I don't know how anyone gets anything done with a toddler ever. It's like they can sense that you need to do something and act flipping nuts, remarkably proportional to the importance of the task at hand. It's impressive really.
I am going to a baby shower today...a FOUR hour long baby shower. And I am carpooling and am not the driver so we may end up staying the entire time. Wish me luck!

I know I haven't participated in this thread very much this month, but I hope it's okay if I jump in.
ugh. I just found out I've gained six pounds in the last month, and I still have 4 more days until my official weigh-in at the doctor. Seriously thinking about burning my scale and telling the doc I just don't want to know. If I see one more article about the recommended "1 lb per week" I'm going to explode.
I know some others were discussing weight/body issues earlier in the thread, and I'm wondering if I should start a "positive body image" thread for the board. Some days I could really use one.
@TheTamedShrew, I think that's a great idea! I feel you on that one. I was one of the ones who began talking about it a while back -- I had a really bad body image day on the day we took our announcement photo. I keep flip flopping -- some days feeling great and proud of myself, and some days feeling like a whale. I know it's all part of the process but it's something that's a difficult part of pregnancy that I feel like isn't always addressed! I'm all for body positivity stuff so I'd appreciate that
My bitch today is I went to make breakfast, sprayed the pan and was about to make homefries when I notice there were 2 mouse turds right on the skillet. Argghhh. As my scavenger hunt for poop continues, I'm finding more in the silverware drawer (gag), in the oven and on the counters.
My guess is they came in when we had that freakish snow storm this past week and have made themselves at home until the weather warms again. So pissed and grossed out. Peanut butter traps are set and the waiting games begin. Going to spend the whole day disinfecting and cleaning out the oven
@RedMar That's horrifying! I would probably have just called breakfast a wash and gotten back into bed... as for the shingles question you had earlier, current research is showing that since the chicken pox vaccine is a dead virus, it does not cause the shingles outbreak later in life. You body knows how to defend against varicella, but there is nothing hiding out to flare up again later.
@RedMar Ugh, mice. They are the worst. DH and I lived in apartments and then a second floor townhouse for the first decade we lived together. Last year, we bought a single family home on a wooded lot. This is our first encounter w mice and it is REAL. Good luck with the hunt and sanitizing mission!
Also on the shingles topic - it is true that it is generally diagnosed in elderly people but it has also been on the rise with younger people as well. I don't think it has anything to do with the vaccine - everyone I know who's had it recently had chicken pox as a child. I had it after I had DD and returned to work. (It hits you when your immune system is low and stress is high.) Right after I had it, another Mom in one of my Mom groups got it (she had also just returned back to work) and then my Aunt. All of us in our late 20s-early 40s. It's no fun!
I know this was discussed pages ago, but I want to register my disappointment that every single parenting decision seems to be inextricably wrapped up in an entire parenting philosophy and a community that goes along with it.
Can't you just wear a baby because it's convenient and have that be the end of it? Why does it have to be wrapped up in attachment parenting, anti-vax stuff, etc. It's so frustrating.
@camichael84@RedMar@JennM205 thank you all! Just hoping I can keep it away from everyone else. He's kept a little pedialyte down and we just got some Popsicles to try. New territory for us! And just got DH's "birthday lunch" to go... We are going to attempt to make a (boxed) carrot cake because most places that have it around here are closed today.
@kimmyschmidt I totally agree. I have a crunchy side but I also don't. I'm in a local crunchy moms group and I feel so out of place as a result. Apparently cloth diapering and wearing my baby and breastfeeding but also vaccinating her and not co-sleeping are at total odds.
Has anyone used a pouch filling station for making baby food? I'm mystified. Is it just another way to store it as opposed to a jar? Or do you squeeze it out onto a spoon to feed baby? Or for older kids that can squeeze it themselves like those applesauce pouches? #FTMquestions

I haven't used one but yes you can do all of those things. That all seemed like a lot of work to me so we did mostly baby led weaning and only used purees for maybe a few weeks.

Haven't used a pouch filling station. But my daughter is super picky and will only eat most veggies in purée form. So I make my own and put it in reusable pouches. I just spoon it in though. And she eats it directly from the pouch herself.
Also a fan of baby led weaning. Skip purées all together. But solid food doesn't happen until six months so you have time.

I didn't use a whole pouch filling station, I just have refillable pouches and would fill them with a spoon or a funnel. The beauty of the pouch is that they eat from it directly - no spoon (although you can buy a spoon attachment, I'm baffled as to why anyone would do that. Isn't it just more dirty dishes?) They are a bit of a pain to clean, but my child was eating yogurt, applesauce, and purees independently MUCH earlier. That independence afforded me the opportunity to use the bathroom unaccompanied, switch the laundry on another floor of the house, empty the dishwasher uninterrupted, etc. months before I would have otherwise been able to.
Both functioned the same way, and the caps are interchangeable (and also the same size as ALL of the store bought pouches, which is good to know because those bad boys disappear)

Same! I formula fed, but made homemade purees. I have a few cloth diapers I use at home, but I do disposable most of the time. I'm pro-cry it out, but I like to baby wear when it suits me. I don't know why all these decisions have to be contradictory - they have nothing to do with each other!

@TheTamedShrew I don't post much either, I don't think anyone minds.
About the positive body image thread, I am interested. I know I struggle some days (like today), I'm sure it won't be the last time and can't be alone in these feelings. I am hoping that a short nap might help me shake off the negative feelings.
@Shiva14 I'll give you a big internet high five if you share the recipe for that chocolate cake! I've been craving a chocolate cake but settling for occasional dark chocolate squares.
@blondie080300@SarahMConnors@RedMar@TNgoldengirl Thanks ladies. I felt better this morning, but was pretty down last night. Pregnancy hormones can be so irritating. I get so worked up over very small things!
