@Shelby00519 A lot of recommendations I've read say between 28-30 weeks if I'm remembering correctly. The reason is so you are still pretty comfortable and don't feel too self conscious about your size. As a tall FTM last time, people didn't notice I was pregnant until I was almost 6 months, so I waited until 36 weeks because I wanted to look obviously pregnant. It made me a little nervous to wait until so close to the due date, so 34-35 probably would have been better for me. If you feel like you're showing pretty well or already getting achy, you may want to consider bumping it up a little though.
I couldn't even if I tried. She probably had a considerably easy pregnancy.. To keep that much in shape while pregnant and most likely eating very well.
I'm a resident, so I feel like I owe it back . Also, in a teaching hospital, the residents have usually done way more procedures recently than the attendings have, so I'm comfortable with that. I also have no qualms of asking a senior to do it if the junior doesn't get it on the first try.
So last night I was that over paranoid pregnant lady and went to L&D because I hadn't felt baby all day and went to scary dr Google. Everything is fine and as soon as I got hooked up so they could monitor him he started kicking up a storm. I was so embarrassed but she kept reassuring me that it was fine and that's what they're there for. On the bight side I got to hear baby's heartbeat again and although I couldn't feel them I heard him have the hiccups.
@sboston06 That's what I told my husband when I was going in. That I rather be safe then sorry and I wouldn't be able to sleep all night worrying. I was fine driving there and I told him not to come because he was just leaving work and had an auction to go to early this morning but I'd call if it was serious. It didn't get scary until I heard them say I haven't been feeling him and I felt like they were preparing me for the worse before the hooked me up. Then of course as soon as they did he started kicking away and being as active as ever.
You guys are lucky! My orange drink was syrupy and warm . The nurse also got me nervous on the time limit I had to drink it because she kept looking at her timer every two seconds, so I was practically chugging. Finally as I was about to gag down the last couple sips, she says "you have two minutes left to finish." Oh thanks!
Perks of my husband being my boss? I just took a hour long nap at work and I don't even care. :-p hahaha
So lucky! When I worked for my husband selling tickets at the box office he worked me like no other! He said he didn't want me to feel special. I'm like I AM special! You married me, remember?
@Kellyj103 One of the detail guys ended up waking me up to tell me he was going to lunch so I had to call him and let him know I fell asleep, otherwise I wouldn't have said anything. I told him it was either that or closing down the lot and going home to sleep so he didn't mind too much haha
@jenkeale@sboston06Cold Stone is 5 mins away and Dairy Queen is across the street. Let's just say I've had to exercise a lot of restraint. I'd kill for a Marble Slab though but none are near.
Question for those of you in the medical field/fellow nurses.... Given that it will be July do you plan on asking not to have any medical students or brand new residents in the room? I plan on an epidural and work in anesthesia so I know just how scary a brand new resident can be but I also know when the time comes I will feel bad grilling someone on their experience.
A resident saved my LIFE after I pushed forever with kid #1 and she said - hey, push like you are pooping. He was out 3 pushes later. But I don't recall the residents doing anything substantive.
@sboston06 This might make you feel better: there's a DQ in our town but it's only open three months of the year. Nine months of the year, I have to walk or drive by an empty, unused DQ storefront, drooling and cursing. The humanity!!!

All I have to say is, thank god there isn't a Wawa or Friendly's on this side of the country cause there could be lots of issues... also, if anyone wants to send me a strawberry Fribble in some dry ice to Vegas, I'll name my kid after you
@Kaybee4 We did weekly last time and I felt that was more for me celebrating being pregnant than it was done for the baby. I didn't even attempt it this time because I knew I'd be bigger and not enjoy it. I still plan to fill out a baby book for this one and do monthly photos of LO #2. I also want to still do maternity photos as well.
I've done weekly photos, but they're for me mostly. I'm putting them in the pregnancy journal I'm keeping which will eventually be something I make available to my son if he wants to see it. If he doesn't, that's fine too.
I'm throwing myself a big 30th birthday pig pickin two weeks before my due date. I'm a photographer so I am not interested in hiring to have a maternity session done, but I thought I'd ask some friends (from art school, who are very capable with my camera) to snap some pictures on the beach while they're in town for the party. And if I have the baby before then, that's fine. The one photo I REALLY want is me, 8 1/2 months pregnant, mopping the hog at my barbeque. Fingers crossed the baby cooperates and decides to cook long enough for me to take that picture.
I was going to do maternity photos, but with the cost before the baby comes, I may just have a friend shoot some for me. I will definitely hire a professional for newborn photos, though!
We've hired a birth photographer and I just can't justify also paying for maternity and newborn photos. Is it stupid to think maybe I'll get a photo or two where I look nice enough during labor to consider them my maternity photos? (We saved this way for our wedding too and I got one shot I love that is my "bridal portrait") Also I asked that we get plenty of shots after baby is bathed and I'm hoping those will be nice enough to consider our "newborn photos". I mean technically I'll be pregnant, baby will be birthed, and then we'll have a newborn all within a 6-8 hour window... Maybe if I bring lots of changes of clothes? LOL could be seriously reaching here.
@joleri23 - WHY would anyone do that?! It seems like such a waste of space!! Although maybe I'm the only crazy one who loves ice-cream in the winter...you can enjoy it for longer without it dripping allover your hand!
I'm way too cheap to pay for maternity photos. And newborn photos, actually. I was lucky that my husband's cousin's wife is a photographer and badgered us into letting her take some maternity shots after his grabdmom's birthday lunch last weekend. We got some cute photos, but there's no way I'd pay a bunch for them. I'm grateful to have them for free.
We bought a nice camera a few years ago for our trip to Europe. My husband took my sister's wedding pictures, which were beautiful. I'm going to trust him to take a bunch of pictures of the baby.
We are pretty frugal. We have a photographer relative who will hopefully be in town this summer to take maternity photos. Last time I had a friend who was experimenting with photography do them. She started a business and used them on her website for us to get free photos.
I am someone who very rarely wears dresses, but I ordered myself a cute maxi dress from pink blush maternity over the weekend and it came in the mail yesterday. I tried it on and now I cannot wait for warmer weather so that I can wear it!
My wedding pictures were absolutely terrible and I still get upset thinking about it and it was almost 4 years ago. DH had a friend who was starting up her own photography business and wanted to do our pictures and was only going to charge us like $300. So we spent the rest of the budgeted money for a photographer elsewhere and she canceled three months before the wedding -_- so H had me convinced this other guy he knew was amazing and blah blah blah. Needless to say my wedding pictures are awful and I hate them with a passion. So I told him that I'm happily spending $4000 on maternity/newborn pictures and I really don't care what he has to say about it because he still owes me for our horrible wedding pictures.

I binged and bought 3 during one of their sales. They will get me through the summer and hopefully I can be in pre-pregnancy clothes by the fall. Cute dresses though, I'll definitely save them in case I do this pregnancy thing again.
Can someone please tell me why workplace coffee tastes similar to motor oil?? Ok, I know it doesn't really taste like motor oil, but everywhere I have worked seems to have the most god awful coffee in the universe. And yet, I'm having a cup anyway. AND no one brings donuts on Fridays anymore. I guess it's because we just heard that the next round of layoffs is going to be in June. Since all the obvious people have already been laid off, we are going to lose good, hard-working people next go around, no matter who it is. I'm hoping to not actually get laid off but I'm not naïve either. Is it lunch time yet??

@sboston06 Oh my goodness, you poor thing!! The company I work for owns 4 Dairy Queens - it might be a bad thing that there's no shortage here...

Guess I will stop caring about people and their fetus well being.
