Re: GTKY: TTCAL edition
Hi everyone! I noticed we have a lot of new people coming and going lately, so I thought I might do a GTKY post to you know, get to know you all.

3. What do you do during your days (work, volunteer, etc.)? I am a PA. I do mostly hand and reconstructive plastics with some ortho trauma mixed in. During free time I run and I am a member of Junior League here
4. If you could visit anywhere in the world where would you go? Iceland to watch the northern lights
5. What are you watching (Netflix, Hulu, good ol' TV etc.)? Just finished the American crime about the OJ trial and FX and it was awesome.
6. What are you reading (magazines, books, blogs)? Picked up the Danish girl and 2 Emily Giffina last night

2. Do you have any fur babies? Tell us about them! Yes, my love a big yellow lab.
3. What do you do during your days (work, volunteer, etc.)? I work in community mental health and also have a private practice doing trauma counseling with children.
4. If you could visit anywhere in the world where would you go? I would go to Japan, it just seems like such a different world and I would love to see it.
5. What are you watching (Netflix, Hulu, good ol' TV etc.)? I am a few episodes in to 11.22.63 on Hulu and love it. I also watch Billions on Showtime.
6. What are you reading (magazines, books, blogs)? I am currently listening to a bad audio book that I just can't get in to. I also read lots of blogs, currently following "Femme Infertile" who just started an IVF cycle. I think this might be our next step, so I'm intrigued by the process.
2. Do you have any fur babies? Tell us about them! Two cats! Schroeder was my husband's. He adopted him a long time ago. They have a real special bond; DH is his mom as he was only 5 weeks when they found him on the streets. He's ... weird and sweet and violent and emotionally complex. Our other cat is Lucy! She was crying at the back door of our third floor apartment in Montreal in 2013. She cried there all night. I let her in to eat and drink water and I took one look at her face and fell in love. She pranced in and never left, never even looked at the door after that. She's a lazy, sweet lump who sleeps harder than any cat you've ever known. We're lucky are cats are very affectionate and only want to be in the room where we are.
3. What do you do during your days (work, volunteer, etc.)? I stay home. I develop recipes and take photographs for my website Leafy Cauldron. I volunteer with our neighbourhood association.
I used to work in antiquarian books, so I still do some stuff with that and maintain my contacts in that world. I'd like to open a book shop one day, but nothing concrete is set as real estate would have to seriously calm down in Toronto for that to happen. I'm toying with the idea of going back to school to become a counsellor for abused women and children, but that's a couple years off at least.
4. If you could visit anywhere in the world where would you go? North Africa! Think of allll the fooooood
5. What are you watching (Netflix, Hulu, good ol' TV etc.)? We're watching Fresh Prince of Bel Air and Third Rock from the Sun on Netflix. We keep up with HBO's Girls, as well. A documentary here and there on Netflix, too.
6. What are you reading (magazines, books, blogs)? Hmm, just finished a John Irving novel. Took me forever I just couldn't focus on it. There's a French graphic novel series called Paul by Michel Rabagliati about a young man growing up and his life in various places in Quebec. All are translated into English except the last, so I'm going to give it a go and read the last in French, with help from my Francophone best friend. It's full of cute details that you'd never know unless you'd lived there, like they put butter on their pizza crust in Quebec City, but not elsewhere in the province. The novels look so tender and sweet and apparently feature all our favourite spots in our old home.

2. Do you have any fur babies? Tell us about them! We have Benjamin the cat and George the dog. I'd adopted Benjamin a few years before meeting DH, so I'm definitely his favorite and he tends to yell at DH when he's low on water or whatever, which is pretty funny. With me he just wants love, my full attention, and my lap. George is much more of a daddy's boy; he's a 2-3 year old black lab/something mix who we've had for around 8 months now. He is really goofy and keeps us on our toes. He likes to put our stuff in his kennel and then take all his stuff out for some reason and lately has started waiting at the bottom of the steps at night before bed until we tell him it's bedtime and then he goes up and puts himself to bed (50/50 shot on if it's in his kennel or our bed, but whatever).
3. What do you do during your days (work, volunteer, etc.)? I'm an attorney at a non-profit doing a lot of family law and public benefits work. I really like my job, even when it gets frustrating. Otherwise, I take George to the park or for a job on the trail (even if I were more of a runner, George is...not) and DH and I brew beer.
4. If you could visit anywhere in the world where would you go? I'd like to go to Eastern Europe (Romania, Hungary, Turkey, etc) where I did study abroad in college but I feel like I'd appreciate it more now and without the educational requirements and strict timelines. @reneeannemm North African food does make that region way more tempting.
5. What are you watching (Netflix, Hulu, good ol' TV etc.)? We're watching Dare Devil and Bob's Burgers right now on Netflix and The Newsroom on Amazon. Nothing really spectacular, but enjoyable enough.
6. What are you reading (magazines, books, blogs)? I'm reading the Wheel of Time series right now and I have 2 more books to go after this one. I'm also re-reading Game of Thrones in preparation of the new season coming soon (might make more sense to re-watch it instead, but oh well).
2. Do you have any fur babies? Tell us about them! 2 co-dependent cats - Zoie and Ellie - both about 11 years old. DH and I adopted them as kittens the year before we got married. They love us to bits - meet us at the door, sleep with us in our beds, and usually one of them is in my lap (right now it is Zoie)
3. What do you do during your days (work, volunteer, etc.)? I teach Psychology at the local university as a sessional (adjunct) instructor.
4. If you could visit anywhere in the world where would you go? Somewhere warm and tropical - like Bora Bora or St. Lucia - I also love Hawaii...
5. What are you watching (Netflix, Hulu, good ol' TV etc.)? Oh goodness so many shows - Big Bang Theory, Lucifer, Brooklyn 99, Mindy, Agents of Shield, Black-ish, iZombie, Life in Pieces - and we're saving Flash, Gotham, Legends of Tomorrow and some others for the summer when there are fewer shows on.
6. What are you reading (magazines, books, blogs)? Not much actually - textbooks (Cognitive Development and Psychology Around Us) - though I have a few non-textbook books on order.

3. What do you do during your days (work, volunteer, etc.)? I work FT. I handle catastrophic medical claims for a major vehicle insurance carrier. Spinal cord injuries, amputations, severe traumatic brain injuries, etc.
4. If you could visit anywhere in the world where would you go? Australia probably. Although I'd also love to travel all around Europe as well.
5. What are you watching (Netflix, Hulu, good ol' TV etc.)? Nothing, I don't watch TV.
6. What are you reading (magazines, books, blogs)? Currently reading Bel Canto. It's the April pick for the book club I'm in. I really like it so far.

1. Where are you living these days? Southern California, born and raised. I'd like to live somewhere else for at least a little bit, but I know I would eventually come back here. It's home.
2. Do you have any fur babies? Tell us about them! Yes! I have a 4 year old Corgi-Chihuhua mix named Olive. She's a rescue, and just the best doggy in the world. She's as well-behaved as most humans. We're flying into Rome and spending 10 days in Italy (Rome, Florence, Venice) and 4 days in Paris. I don't even know what to do with myself right now. I can't believe it's actually happening after a lifetime of dreaming about it!
5. What are you watching (Netflix, Hulu, good ol' TV etc.)? Just finished Mad Men, which I loved. I'm currently on season 5 of both Downton Abbey and Parenthood. I love good television. The Office and Parks & Rec are also two shows that are constantly running on a loop in our house, even though DH and I have seen every episode multiple times.
6. What are you reading (magazines, books, blogs)? Nothing at the moment, but I'll probably download a few books on my Nook for the long flights. I've heard great things about The Martian, so that's on my list.

2. Do you have any fur babies? Tell us about them! Lucy is my 10.5 yo Husky mutt, Cooper is probably a border collie mutt and is about 8 or 9, Dock is a terrier mutt (Jack Russell maybe?) and we're not sure his age. We've had him for 5 or 6 years. I'm a total dog person, but I also usually have a cat. Currently, we have Wiley who is 2.5. He's mean as shit except when he's not, but we love him. The running joke is that each of us always say, "Look at what your cat did," whenever he does something bad.
3. What do you do during your days (work, volunteer, etc.)? I work in economic development. I'm a Rotarian and I serve on the board of two non profits.
4. If you could visit anywhere in the world where would you go? There are few places I wouldn't go, but if I won the lottery tomorrow the first trip I'd plan is to Santorini, Greece.
5. What are you watching (Netflix, Hulu, good ol' TV etc.)? I still love Grey's Anatomy and enjoy Big Bang Theory, Amazing Race, Top Chef, and Modern Family. If DH is away, I sneak in some Nashville.
6. What are you reading (magazines, books, blogs)? I have been reading fewer books and more long form stories online or in magazines lately. Love the online magazine The Bitter Southerner, and IRL magazines Garden & Gun, New York, Rolling Stone, The Atlantic, and the occasional US Weekly.

I'd love to see Europe. We had to stay in France overnight because our connection flight got delayed, but it was a forced stay and we were exhausted, so we just stayed at the hotel and didn't see much.

Modern Family, iZombie, X-Files, and couple of reality shows - Alaska, the Last Frontier, etc.
6. What are you reading (magazines, books, blogs)?
Mostly blogs at the moment. Generic ones: Ask a Manager, Skeptical OB, and couple of infertility blogs. Was thinking about buying Ever Upward kindle book, but will save it till AF comes.

My Chart
1. Where are you living these days? I am a Michigander also @MooFish2364 & @MWoodside!
2. Do you have any fur babies? Tell us about them! We have a toy golden doodle Izzie and two netherland dwarf bunnies. I never thought I would own a a rabbit (I grew up with dogs) and I pinned a cute one on Pinterest years ago and DH thought I actually wanted one so the first one showed up under my tree at Christmas, so never Pin anything you don't want
3. What do you do during your days (work, volunteer, etc.)? I own a wedding/event company but I am looking into volunteering this spring/summer. I didn't take many weddings this year because I was pregnant, but I am looking forward to having a quieter summer.

5. What are you watching (Netflix, Hulu, good ol' TV etc.)? We are watching 11.22.63 on Hulu, just finished up Fargo and I just started The Catch. It's good and light but I am not sure how long it will last.
6. What are you reading (magazines, books, blogs)? I just finished The Nest. It was really good but some parts didn't feel fully developed if that makes sense.
Your bunny thing made me literally lol!
I do wish my DH would pay more attention to things I pin. I even made a wish list board but he's never even looked at it!

@spartanrd4 oh my gosh, that's so funny! Ours definitely love on each other, but the boy is fixed so no baby bunnies here...I guess there is like a 1% chance. I tell my DH I feel like Charlotte from Sex and the City and my luck will be that my rabbits will have babies and I'll have trouble dealing with that....until they arrive and are adorable
